The moment i walked in i was greeted and asked how they could help. They pointed to me what types of boxes i needed for moving dishs. No complaints from me!
Scammed by Rutland Uhaul.I rented a Uhaul van for 24 hours. The daily rate, included free-milage, additional milage rate, and one day insurance all worked out to be about $100 (I was able to closely guesstimate how far I would drive). I told the man at Uhaul that I might bring it back that night, or possibly the next day. He said it was an extra charge to drop it off after-hours, unless I downloaded their App. I had no desire to give Uhaul access to my phone, or pay them $25 for nothing, so I said--maybe I will return before close. If not, Ill come back tomorrow. No problem, he told me. Whatever works. Its a 24 hour rental rate--it doesnt matter.I didnt look deeply at my contract because I wasnt expecting to be screwed. He put on the contract that I would be returning it that same day, before close, as I had suggested I might. So even though I signed a contract with certain prices (that are an option for a 24-hour van rental) Uhaul NULLIFIED my contract. As I had Broken the Contract by returning it the next day.I had agreed to a 24-hour package, but I also agreed to return it early. An arbitrary return date and time box filled in, by the man at the desk, to read 7pm of the first day (less than eight hours in). And when I didnt return this Uhaul sixteen hours before I had to, they CHANGED the terms of my contract. And suddenly it cost $200 instead of $100. They changed the amount of free miles I had, the daily rate, the rate of additional miles, and they charged me for two days--both at the daily rate, and an extra day of insurance. The insurance rate was the only rate that stayed the same, although they were now charging me for two.Good luck ever getting anything back from Uhaul. I got $50 back--there was really no way they could argue I had it for two days when in fact I kept it under 20 hours. The day I saw this charge, Uhauls main call center appeared to be shut down. I called fifteen times--every time, after picking from the list of numerical options, it hung up on me. I tried every option.By the afternoon of the second day, I was able to get on hold. For two hours. When I finally reached someone in the call-center (you cant call a store directly, and I was moving a couch FROM Rutland--it wouldve been a three hour round-trip to visit Uhaul to talk..which is almost the amount of time I spent anyway...)--the man at the call center went with the party line that whatever it was was TOTALLY MY FAULT. Because, you signed the contract, bro.I told them I had been charged through Amex, and that Amex is quite strong in protecting their customers in such situations--and it wouldnt be the first time theyve gladly canceled a bogus charge for me. At this, Uhaul changed their tone a bit--dang, he didnt use Capital One--and I was promised an email would be sent to the location manager. And that he would contact me.Two days later I had to do this multiple-hour phone call farce again. Finally, the manager emailed me.He basically said it was my fault. So I emailed him copies of the actual contract I signed, versus the rates Uhaul.com claimed I agreed to. He said all he could do was refund the extra day and insurance--that I signed a contract, bro--which implies that if every Uhaul employee wrote down the wrong return time, and about 90% of people werent paranoid to look for it--Uhaul would be allowed to do this every day.I was civil, but he didnt respond to any further emails.Basically, they stink. Youre going to use them because you have to. And on the Corporate level there is no reason to dissuade this behavior because Uhaul has such a corner on the small-truck market that my local UPS store seems to have recently bought an old uhaul, not even painted it, and is currently delivering packages around town.Amex does protect its customers. If I had really pushed back, I probably wouldve gotten the remaining $50. But as it was, I had already spent almost five hours getting $50...and I didnt view $10 an hour as being worth my time.Youll use them because you have to.
Desk personnel acted as if they couldnt care less answering a very simple question. And the young man from the Weston Playhouse who barged in front of me took the prize for Rude of the Day. Remind me to never frequent either of these organizations.
No stars should be given. We reserved a truck for our move, with a guarantee the truck would be available. A few hours later we received a call that the uhaul I had reserved and put a deposit down on was not available and they would not rent anything other than a 9ft cargo van to us for more than 24 hours. We use uhaul often with our business but after this experience I wont be going back and strongly suggest you all check with Penske for your move as they are reliable.#PenskeForLife #UhaulLies
I had such a great experience! I knew Id be picking up late so I called the national UHaul office to let them know I wasnt sure of my arrival but I was definitely coming. They cancelled my order anyway. But the staff at the location was totally ON IT and they took great care of me. They certainly went above and beyond. I cannot recommend them highly enough - I heard them talking with other customers and the service is just excellent. They really care which is so nice!
They are not helpful and only want money. No one even said good morning. Avoid this place.
Kris is doing a great job putting a good team together
Dont let bad review aggregate fool you. These guys are great, store is clean well stocked and fair. Previous management was not grear in years past. But new management is really doing a great job! Staff are helpful, nice and patient. I wish all locations were as great as this one
Hi, This isnt something I usually do..reviews that is.. I called u haul in rutland vt..the lady who answered.said they didnt have the equipment I needed...btw,I was very polite..I was trying to ask her another question..she hung up on me..Im very disappointed..my first attempt at using their service..I felt I was treated very rudely..Wouldnt allow me to ask a question..
Three calls today to make a simple inquiry. Interminable time spent on hold, going in circles with their on-hold recorded announcements. No response.
Kris is super accommodating and everything goes like clockwork there. Very clean and friendly.
Horrible customer service. Joe the GM could care less about customer satisfaction. I tried to get a reservation for a hitch install for 40 days with not one call back or email response. I tried to explain my dissatisfaction to him but he was not in the mood to hear it. Unbelievable!
I came in to get propane after waiting in line 6 foot apart. sat 5/2/20 the guy ask what do you need sir, I told him I would like to fill propane tank. he scarambled around and said ill meet you out there. as I get out there he says do you have a credit card. I told him no that all I had was cash. he rolls his eyes and says he cant give me propane. I then said what is up with this b.s. I then get into my truck making my thoughts about not taking cash somewhat known. he knocks on my window and says well if you didnt have an attitude he would have done it. so I ask myself why bother with corporate b.s. I went to a local hardware store that took my cash no problem. so uhaul I needed a reese hitch or my 1 ton van too. bet you wold have taken my cash or that.
Great staff it was quick to help us with all of our needs. Even got us extra equipment we didnt think to set up ahead of time. Nice job
Got charged 2x for what we purchased. Watch your accounts people!! They are robbing us! $13.00 additional charge adds up quickly if they are doing this hustle for everyone.
The employees at the Rutland location were great and really helpful . They made a difficult move a little easier
I would not give this place even 1 star, we used a truck for a very short amount of time then were charged 3 different times on our card in all almost 500$!!!! For driving not even 4miles, also the customer service was awful when we went to the store to ask about the charge we were clearly frustrated but were not rude or unreasonable and the way she came at us was not professional at all! We will never be dealing with them again!
Large parking lot. The young man at the counter was easy going. No problems getting what I needed.
Had very horrible service from Rutland VT and customer service. Had to make an extra 146 mile round trip back to Rutland VT because I was given the wrong trailer and could not trade it for the correct size at another location due to trailer being owned by local location though its not even registered in the state its housed. I received no sympathy and only received a $32 credit that did not even cover cost of gas to correct mistake made because the Rutland worker said He was to lazy to shuffle trailers around in the a.m. to get me my assigned trailer. This kind of service is not acceptable!
Costly... my key card doesnt work everytime I want to gain access. . . Customer Service representatives are friendly and helpful.
Well as an ex employee ill give you the Real story.the gas has to be returned on how you left with it.if its half u return with half. DO NOT call they will ask you for all kinds of info & try to get credit card info. just walk in.(Storage) just put in furniture & stuff you dont care about. NEVER put Boxes of momentos & Family pics because if you fall behind payment they can & will Auction it off. Truck are old & junky.
Horrible customer service. Waited 30+ minutes for a box and tape. Was told couldnt pay with cash and then had to manually do credit card. 45 min visit. Avoid this place
I reserved but canceled. Experience over the phone was good. They seemed to be OK to rent from. Do not go to White River Jct or Claremnnt. Both places try to take illegal deposits and require paperwork that is against UHaul policy. I had to report both these locations to corporate. UHaul DOES NOT require a deposit of any kind, or proof of insurence. to rent a cargo van or pick up truck. If they try to do this, report them to corporate, the BBB and/or the Attorney Generals office.
Worst costumer service and propane fill ever. Zero star for this location
Poughkeepsie:Seemed odd the truck was not full but three quarters full. I found out this probably a scam being run by the company. When I went to refill the gas gauge seemed to freeze right before 3/4 tank, I kept putting in another 2 gallons, needle wouldnt move, even after starting and stopping engine. Finally after 26 gallons the needle suddenly popped to full. I drove 170 miles, the computer registered 10 mpg the whole way I should have used 17 gallons max.Im very disappointed the the U-HAUL policy that forces you to buy more then you need or want. I needed the truck for only 24 hours but was forced to pay for two days rental. I was able to return the truck early the next day, but still forced pay for two days. They were also very cheap with the included miles, especially since I had to go 12 miles out of my way to pick up the truck in Poughkeepsie vs the facilities closer to my house as originally contracted.Rutland:The gas refill was a total ripoff. Insist on a full tank, because trying to get to 3/4 was impossible. The needle would freeze before 3/4. Either you filled it up or went back short where they would charge you $9 gallon for the difference. Every car rental company I ever used credited you for the extra gas you put in, UHAUL will not. I had to complain very loudly until I finally got a lousy $10 credit for probably over $30 in gas I had to put in extra. This and being forced to pay for two days, I will never use U-HAUL again and pass the word around to my friends, Facebook and Twitter on these shameful practices.
These guys are totally on their game. Its not cheap but good service usually never is. I rented my van online drove into the parking lot picked it up I was out the door in 3 minutes. I dropped it off gave him the keys and left again three minute wait.
Dont deal with these people! Charged for mileage on the truck we didnt drive! Will never do business with them again!
The general manager of this location is one of the rudest most miserable people Ive ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Ive had to deal with her a few times now and she always has the worst most unprofessional attitude. She should be fired.
Always have the right size box for my shipping needs
BEST UHAUL EVER!
Friendly service.
Easy!
Usually dont have a problem but the guy working today 11/12 was rude had to cancel my trailer and reported him he is being dealt with
