We booked a 10-ft truck over a month in advance and the day before the move they said there were no more 10-ft trucks available within 2 hours of this location. They tried to change it to a 15-ft truck without any discount for the extra gas or the additional safety concerns. Any company but UHaul would have been better, and this location has done this before—avoid it at all costs.
We had an appointment today to get a hitch installed for a bike rack and my husband and I took both our cars to drop one car off. The hitch was apparently on back order and nobody ever called us to let us know. So here we are with an appointment and no hitch and they wasted our time bc of poor communication
I called 2 days ahead, rented a 26’ truck over the phone for 48 hrs, 10am pick up - the next day.I chose the pickup time and duration of rental to give myself plenty of slack on both ends.When I show up they gave my 26’ away, I ended up with a 20’ for less than 24hrs.That’s not enough truck or time. What’s 6’ and 24 hrs anyways. So they screwed me and I paid the cost. I got hit with fees for extra day, and a smaller truck, which when I left the lot had less than 50miles left in tank before empty.Also took and hour to get in and get out with a rental, which is unacceptable considering I reserved ahead of time. Absolutely unacceptable business service.
Worst experience and CS I have ever experienced. I attempted to pay for UHaul to install a hitch and wiring on my car. I left with a car that I cant drive because rewired it incorrectly, and even left crucial parts in the back seat. The person who attempted to install didnt even admit fault until a lengthy discussion, never once offered a solution or apology and just circled their insurance info and said they would probably pay for the bill. This is unacceptable. Dont walk away, RUN!
Clean easy and efficient. Ive never used storage before, and this was a better experience than expected. I would like more guidence with onboarding, but the team was helpful when I asked questions.
I was spoken to rudely by the manager and one of the associates and when I called them out on it, I was threatened - “You better not say that”.I would never, ever visit this site again.
Had U-haul Saco install a hitch on my car. The tech managed to damage my exhaust while doing the install and their insurance refused to pay to fix the damage. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and avoid this place.
I had called Uhaul at LEAST 5 times to make sure they could install a trailer hitch and wiring for my horse trailer. All 5 times I was ensured that there would be no issues having a 7 prong installed. I show up the day of my appointment and walk in the door. I wasn’t greeted when I walked in, but instead was only asked for the keys to my car. Not my name. Not what I was having done to my car. Just for my keys. Had the man of done his job I would’ve found out then that they were installing the wrong package. I never got a phone call saying that my car was ready, but an email that was auto generated. When I showed up there was a wire hanging out of the back of my car. When asked about it he said it was the preferred method for wire installation. The preferred method is to leave a wire hanging out of the back of my car? Not only was the wire hanging out but they installed the incorrect wiring!!! I spent almost $500 for a job that was done incorrectly. I’ve called multiple times and someone named Sean was supposed to return my calls. Do you think I’ve ever gotten a call back? Of course not. I will keep calling until I hear back from corporate. Thankfully Lees Family trailer is used to the “u-haul syndrome” as they call it and are used to fixing these guys mistakes!**And to top it off the scraped the inside of my trunk as well as my bumper. My Jeep is BRAND NEW 2020 and did not have any dents for scrapes when it went it!!!
I have never had such awful customer service.It started when I was denied access to my unit during the stated “storage access hours” of between “5am - 10pm” as stated on my receipt. I was hung up on by the manager after I requested a refund. This led to me having to call out of work the next day so I could catch my flight on time. That cost me $140 for missing work and I had no other options than to use this storage unit even though I didn’t want to anymore because of the loss of money and time crunch I was forced into. Then my alternative contact was harassed not even two days of myself being late on my payment. After the way the start of this process went, uhaul was not on my priority list of bills being paid. Maine has a 15 day grace period regardless and the 7 attempts to harass myself and my alternative contact before I was even a week late was very inappropriate. Upon arrival all the way from North Carolina, and completely paid up for at least 2 weeks, I arrive to a lock on my unit claiming I haven’t paid my balance. The manager let me in and never so much as apologized for the Misunderstanding, nor have I received an apology for the very beginning of this awful experience. While finishing up it was not even 7pm yet and I was already being asked if I was almost done. If the “storage access hours” differ from the “storage office hours” then the receipt I received on every payment is incorrect and should be fixed for future customers. I checked in and checked out that night and The very next day my fiancé went to empty the storage unit of the things I could not lift as I’m pregnant. When he put the code in my storage unit was now denied access. I have emailed Jennifer Strout to fix the initial issue at hand and she has had no response. I will not ever use this location again for my moving needs. If I ever have to use uhaul again it will be the last resort.
Go to lowes or home depot for a truck, way cheaper!!!! Waited in line for 45 mins with only 2 customers in front of me, the service was friendly by Jennifer but the knowledge of the job was almost non existent. Nobody seemed to know how to work the computer to help customers, another employee helped a customer for over an hour to rent a trailor without even telling the 8 people waiting in line that there were no more trucks to rent, completely wasting everyones time. The box truck I did get was old and super sketchy steering issues a break squeal. I was told it would be $30 for the hour, they neglected to mention .99 cents per mile which is OUTRAGOUS!!! I get back to find out Im paying 3 times what I was told. I used the truck for 40mins and was charged $60+. First time here and I will never be back again! This location needs tremendous help!!!
If you are moving and need to rent a truck, van and/or trailers, this is the place to go. They have everything you could possibly need for moving. They have boxes, tie-downs, tapes, ropes, etc... They are friendly and accommodating, they will even work around your schedule. I needed a van on short notice and they had one available. When I went to pick it up, I was in and out in no time at all. The rates are fairly reasonable.
This U-Haul location leaves a bit to be desired. They do not answer the phone, had trouble scheduling after our appointment was delayed due to them not having the parts on hand, and they can be rather abrupt on the phone. Probably, all due to understaffing but it has been quite frustrating to work with this site.
Easy to understand the bad reviews. I stopped yesterday to buy a rubber gasket on a U-Haul installed set of chains. They refused to sell them to me. I drove down the road and another U-Haul dealer GAVE them to me.
Don’t waste your time here! Made a reservation to get a hitch installed and they called me 2 hours after I had dropped my car off that they didn’t even have the hitch in stock! No apologies for wasting my time. Lance who works there is rude!
Rented a truck from here with my family in order to pick up some large furniture items we couldn’t transport with our own vehicles. When we got there the truck we were given wasn’t ready yet to go out onto the road, it was blocked by another truck and still had a promotional sign in the back for advertisement. We were told it had 5/8ths of a tank full of gas, when started up it only had 1/4th of a tank. We used it for a total of 101 miles, driving to Biddeford, then home, to Cape Elizabeth, back home and then returning the truck the next day. They wanted to run us for over 400 miles! They didn’t pick up the phone all day and when confronted in person said they were “busy and couldn’t get to the phone” and that our “case” had to be taken up with corporate. Do not rent from these crooks! I would leave negative stars if I could.
Pros: I havent had a bad experience with saco U-Haul! Affordable if moving locally. Very professional and friendly workers. They have a good system down, the process is quick and easy.Cons: lots of little fees... The expenses were reasonable since we moved locally. But I can imagine a much bigger bill for people moving far away. Prioritize planning ahead of time when it comes to moving with U-Haul.

Had an amazing experience here!Walked in and had my rental in 15mins.Other reviews seem to have issues with phone service...just walk in and take care of it in person. Friendly, knowledgeable service. Price was great as well!
Seriously understaffed. If you have to come here, be prepared for it to take at least an hour. Ive had to come two Saturdays in a row, line out the door both times and only one person behind the counter.
Had an appointment made for Wednesday at 1pm at the saco location. Showed up and the employee told me the appointment was made in the portland location (no communication beforehand informing me) and offered no help or solution (told me I cant get another appointment for 3 weeks). The portland branch was substantially better and more helpful. Avoid the saco location.

Always have a good inventory of vans and trailers. Store is well stocked and spacious. Staff are usually helpful. Great value for propane refills.
They have a management problem. I had an appointment for 8:00am to get the wiring done on my hitch (they estimated 45 minutes to have it done). The guy doing the work was the only one there, so he had to keep leaving the work to help other customers. At 9:00am, another employee arrived and my vehicle was taken in to be worked on. Then a truck needed to be unloaded and the hitch guy was the only one authorized to unload it. It is now 10:08am, and its going to take 30 more minutes to finish. Hey Manager, if youre going to schedule hitch installs, have someone that can be dedicated to the work. Both guys that are here were very nice, its not the employees fault.
Very poor handling by the manager, Jill. We drove to the Saco location all the way from Minnesota with a u-haul trailer. We dropped the trailer off one day prior to the due date with one of the employees who personally backed my car up into the spot and unhooked the trailer himself. (One positive, he was very kind to move my car for me since I could not figure it out). Jill told me the trailer was never on their lot and Im now being charged 4 days worth of late fees. Unacceptable, considering its her employee who made the mistake. The fact that Im being made out to be a liar and Jill has provided me with no possible solution other than Well my Sunday guy isnt here is completely unprofessional and terrible customer service. Why would I continue to drive my own car with a u-haul trailer attached for 4 extra days?? I havent the slightest clue how to unattach it. Jills poor handling of this situation is the worst experience Ive ever had with u-haul, and not only do I deserve my late fee charges refunded, but I deserve an apology for the extremely unhelpful and very unprofessional service shes given. By her poor actions, it doesnt surprise me at all that her employee made a mistake that Im now being punished for.

BOOOOO! Trash establishment- Untrained and unprofessional staff and ownership. I’ve rented dozens of trucks and spent thousands at this particular store and refuse to give them another penny. They deserve every one of these one star reviews but definitely not your business.
NEGATIVE STARS!!!!Called to reserve a Uhaul over the phone, everything was lined up for my boyfriends step-dad to pick it up to help us out and we put a credit card on file. We also didn’t know an exact time so we said noon and the guy assured us we can call and give them a heads up if it’s earlier. His dad was able to go at 8 so we called to give them that heads up and they were fine with it. We also had to make sure we could pay ourselves with the credit card on file since there “Express checkin” asked a bunch of questions about drivers license info and picture which we were told you only have to show upon arrival since we were not going to be there as explained! Once we settled that we thought it was okay. His dad goes in and there are problems!!! So we called AGAIN and were asked all the questions he already knew! AGAIN we thought it was okay but NO!!! The same guy called us demanding a time to drop it off when it was a 24 hour rental! We don’t know when will be done moving!!!! Who does?!? We kept pushing it was a 24 hour rental and it would be dropped off before they close at 7! Then the brainless guy agreed and was like “oh okay”. Then he pushed his dad to buy the insurance to add on to our bill which was not necessary! CLUELESS PEOPLE!!! Never again...avoid them.

They have many items for moving at very reasonable prices, great and receptive, and busy attendents. Pricing on the moving vehicles is pricy and almost deceptive, I woudn t say hidden, but adds up in the end. Though the truck was brand new, I could have done better at HD on pricing. Some one left the tow hitch on the back of the pick-up and I banged my shin a couple of times, the truck is nice, but terrible on gas mileage.
Literally the worst. No one ever answers the phone. I had a deposit put down during a storage auction, little did I know it would take 60+ days to get my $100 deposit back.I’ve been told repeatedly - fourth time calling today, that the manager would get back to me. I’m not sure if it’s an incompetent employee or a horrible manager that make this place such a dump.What a rip off joint, I’m sure they’re hoping I’ll just give up and give up my deposit.Highly recommend using any other storage company in the state than U-Haul Saco. Worst business I’ve ever dealt with. I’m about to just drive down, show up and demand my deposit back in person (probably won’t have anyone working the desk though).
This place is great for renting trucks and trailers if you enjoy standing in a line for an hour or more while one employee does everything.
Had a great experience at the Washington, DC location on Capital Hill when I picked up the truck, but dropping it off at the U-Haul center in Saco was one of the more terrible customer service experiences Ive had to date. The staff is rude and doesnt seem to care much about anything besides getting you out of their way as fast as possible. Explore other nearby locations before renting from the Saco U-Haul.

If I could give them a 0 rating, I would! We have used Uhaul frequently! Never again! Just lost a loyal customer! We rented a moving truck, for a move from s carborough to portland. Apparently, (according to saco rental), I clicked on the wrong button and truck was reserved for 10 hours, to be picked up and dropped off in saco. My husband and son picked the truck up in saco at 8 a,m.. 2 employees, one was training. Both my husband and son said, the new employee was confused, and didnt go over the contract with them. Not his fault. Paid the 99.00, got the move done, dropped truck off in South portland, at 5 p.m. swept out, gas tank filled. End of story? OH NO! THEY CHARGED US ANOTHER 205.00 BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THE TRUCK SHOULD OF BEEN DROPPED OFF IN SACO!!!! THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY MONEY! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM, EVER! I ALWAYS HAVE RECOMNENDED UHAUL. THIS WILL NOT BE THE CASE GOING FORWARD! DOES IT COST 205.00 TO DRIVE A TRUCK FROM SOUTH PORTLAND TO SACO??? BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND SCAMMERS!
I would never recommend this facility to anyone, friend or foe. They blamed all the differences in pricing on the call center. The first lady that I spoke with didnt even know if they installed hitches. 3-6 day lead time on a hitch turned int 9 total days and when I came for the appointment the price was about 10% over what was quoted.I own a retail store and take pride in my customer service.Stay away. Stay far away.
Awful service. Took over 40 minutes to fill a propane tank. Should of brought my half dressed wife for faster service because the ones that came in 15 minutes after me wew waited on right away.

We have used uhaul a few times over the years as well as friends. We just moved two weeks ago and again used uhaul. First we were told we couldnt do one way from springvale to saco.Or that we could but it would cost more. We picked up the truck and drove it from springvale to saco. Had it for 6hours. Then had to drive it back to Springvale from Saco. (More miles-more gas) stopped to get gas before dropping it off. Left the truck on so we could see how much gas was going in to the tank making sure it matched exactly the amount we started with. It moved real slow. Once we reached $25 which was ridicoulous we stopped. Turned off the key and started it back up and sure enough the true reading popped up and the tank was full!!! So we put $15 extra in thier tank. Thinking it was no problem we will just ask them to reimburse us on the milage. To make everyone even. Nope. No such luck. They wouldnt do it. Our tough luck. And he also said people do it all the time!! Wow..great! Do you think maybe you want to fix it then so people wont do that! Can you imagine how much free gas weve all given to uhaul over the years?!! Crooks. They lost us asCustomers!
This is the absolute worst run business Ive ever seen in my life. Every time I go in there theres five or six people waiting one person working slowly mind you more people walk out of this business then actually get served I for one will never ever go back
Got 3 propane tanks filled there 100 poundersWhen i went into the store they said the guy that fills then stepped out, but he will be right back. We waited 15 minutes anb no one came out. I went back in and the 3 of them were standing around chewing the fat! He then came out an filled the tanks. I asked to pay for one seperate. When i got the 2 bills i saw the the bill for the one tank was 70 cents more per gallon. I went back in anb asked why anb he gave me a bull st#t story that it too less then 9 gallons anb had to charge more. I said to him that that wasnt right because the other 2 took over 40 gallons. He said o well. Askedto talk to the manager and told me that that didnt have one!

Every time Ive gone in there the employees are unknowledgable of their workplace. Ive noticed the employees arent new so Im unsure of why they dont seem to know the basic services they offer.Also,My boyfriend fell behind on his payments for his self storage unit and they called every single day demanding payment, even though I told them we would be in the following Friday.At one point we went in to make a partial payment and the man at the register told us that we are not allowed to make a partial payment and we would have to speak to a manager on the following weekday to authorize it.The next day, the collections department called right on schedule and when I asked her about it she said Huh, thats weird. Theyre not supposed to do that.It seems no one knows their heads from their asses there. I would only recommend them to someone I would wish to misersbly burn in hell while they receive their services
