Usually always have an amazing experience. This last time the bartender was very short, rude, and gave my friend and I half pours. I believe her name was Jenna. She asked if we had ordered beer yet, let her know we hadnt, and she walked off to organize some glasses and other barback items. She came back and we let her know we would like flights. We filled out the flight list and she under poured every glass on both of our flights. I let her know the name on the tab and put 1 finger on my flight pan and she snapped at me not to touch the flight until she checked us out, like Im going to run off with my tiny beers. I know UR is busy, but coming here over a dozen times this is the first time Ive had a really negative interaction, and I do not want her serving me again.*UPDATE* Went back on Oktoberfest weekend. Amazing food, seriously some of the best (As always)! Love the beer, in my top 5 breweries. Staff was super hospitable and pleasant, and despite being very busy the wait time was minimal. Thank you Urban Roots for such excellent service!

TLDR: amazing food, impeccable service and dog friendlyOkay so my husband and I just tried Urban Roots for the first time today. It is both of our new favorite restaurants!The food was amazing. Such soft tender and flavorful meat with a nice variety of side and delicious sauces. We were both extremely satisfied after our meal. We spent $50 not including drinks which is a bit pricey for us to do regularly but it will definitely be a to-go spot for special occasions or hosting out of town visitors.The service was really top notch. My husband went inside to order while I waited outside on the patio. Our food came out before my husband was even done getting our sauces! Somehow they also already knew what table to bring it to even though he had not yet arrived with our table number... We were pretty blown away. When people were done eating their tables were cleared and cleaned with lightning speed and we had several friendly employees come and ask us how our food was or if we needed anything.Last but not least I want to speak to the dog friendliness of this place. The patio is very very spacious so even if your dog gets a little over excited, they have enough space to keep the peace. We brought our 60 lb and enthusiastic puppy and one thing I appreciate about this place is that the tables are very sturdy/heavy in order to tie your dog to them!We will definitely eat here again, thank you Urban roots!

10/10 recommend. Not only does this place have a tasty variety or beer and delicious food, but they have an incredible staff. Everyone was so hospitable and fun to interact with, they definitely made us feel at home.

I can see why the majority of the reviews for Urban Roots are about their smokehouse meats and southern side dishes. The food is delicious; melt in your mouth delicious. There are several savory BBQ sauces to choose from. Its hard to pick just one. I suggest getting all of them and dipping everything on your plate in them. If you pick a meal and plan to share, I would purchase an additional portion of the smokehouse meat. Otherwise, youll be arm wrestling for the small portion that is included. The beer was good, but Ive had way better. They dont carry hazy IPAs or stouts. There wasnt anything I wanted to take home to enjoy later. The ambiance is diverse and spread out to four different sections. Theres the outdoor sitting area with misters, a barrel room with long tables, cozy booths and a back outdoor patio area shaded with umbrellas and a large oak tree. There isnt anything to do, except eat and drink beer. This could be a good date spot with games, cards or live music. IG SACRAMENTOHONEY

My first time here and I love the ambiance here. If you like BBQ, its a place for you. The BBQ sauce was smoke and sweet, not particularly my preference (I prefer more savory than sweet) but I think most would love this place. I ordered the pork belly ends, mac and cheese, side salad and a roll. The mac n cheese was a bit over salted. Ill definitely be back to try something different because of the good vibes.

I have never been here before. This place has delicious food and a variety of beer. It also has outdoor and inside seating. There is also a beer room as well. SMOKED TURKEY WAS MY FAVORITE all the other food was delicious as well. I recommend the all meals platter. Sausage, brisket,ribs,turkey etc it was truly amazing. Definate recommend!

First timer, visiting from Texas, a cousin brought me here. Im sold on BBQ. The burger was awesome. The BBQ sauces were tastey and kept in a heating container. The hamburger patty was not cooked enough, very red. I could not wait for any changes. The panoramic scene reminded me of Austin, Tx days, when I would visit everyother weekend while I was stationed in the military. Sixth street scene. College girls, craziness, end of finals........anyways. this place is cool 😎. Great hospitality. Two samples of beer tasting.

Great outdoor spaces in front and out back plus high ceiling indoors. The hot link and pulled pork were both just fine. Unfortunately i found their entire beer menu not to my taste and almost too fancy. The black lager proved that you can actually have too much dark. The queue for food or even the express beer line also moved really slowly.

I love Urban Roots and you guys deserve the five stars, but the 2 stars is for a particular question I have. Why did you get rid of the brisket fries and brisket Mac and cheese ?? My boyfriend and I are foodies. He’s worked in the kitchen for 7 years now and those were our absolute favorite small bites on the menu. We’re just really disappointed to see such strong menu items go.

If you want to eat some great BBQ then you should really give Urban Roots to try. I met up with my friend here while in Sacramento and it was a great selection. They dont take reservations so it was first come first serve. We took an uber here because I didnt want to find street parking with my rental. The wait was about 30 minutes since they were also having a meet up event there. We got seated in the barrel room which was pretty nice. I got the la carte tri tip, turkey and fries. My girlfriend got The Burger with Mac & Chesse. I really like the tri tip, the turkey seem dry to me but I guess you have to eat it with the gravy it comes with which I didnt really like. My girlfriend burger was really delicious. They have a washing station just outside the bathroom for you to wash your hands and they bring your order to your table for you.

Love their food and drinks. The owners are good people also, which is always a cherry on top!

Really good food and phenomenal beer. Definitely one of the best places to go in Sacramento. My only complaint is how slow the lines are and how that can be difficult getting more beer but other then that great establishment.

Everything was soooo good. The brisket, turkey, burnt pork ends, hamburgers were each a double, Mac n cheese, and fries. The service was great, friendly, personable, and treated us like old friends. Definitely coming back.

I absolutely loved this place. First off, the space is incredibly well designed. Modern, open and tons of seating, you can tell a lot of thought and care went into the space. The beers were very good, but the real standout was the food. The ribs were perfectly cooked, and required no BBQ sauce to be enjoyed. The sausage was awesome, and all the sides were excellent as well. Looking forward to a Round 2 here!

The beers are fantastic, the bbq is good, but come in for the great local feel. The Staff is super knowledgeable and friendly, and sitting at the bar talking to the regulars is a hoot. Cant wait to come back.

This is probably my new favorite restaurant. The atmosphere of urban roots is great, it has a very nice open front and back patio as well as a spacey indoor eating area. The IPA list is excellent and they brew all of their own stuff. Bigger on the Inside is a fantastic fruity IPA that I fell in love with. The staff there is so welcoming, hospitable, and friendly. I had the pleasure of tasting the tri tip sando and it has to be hands down the best tri tip sandwich I have ever had. Paired with the right beer and youve got yourself a match made in heaven. Support this restaurant, they deserve it.

Truly the best brewery in the area to eat! The food is DELICIOUS and I would def eat here even if they didn’t have their own incredible beer. Staff and service also A+. Our go-to spot for sure.

Had a great experience at Urban Roots! Love the outdoor patio and huge open airy indoor space. We had brisket that was delicious, and a flight of beers! I recommend the Rye Saison here, it was superbly done.

I really enjoyed the catfish and collard greens. The greens werent nearly as salty as I imagined. He enjoyed the bbq burger and fries. Not sure if it came with 2 patties or he added one. My guy enjoyed his brisket sandwich and mac. I personally feel the bbq made the sandwich, as the brisket didnt have much flavor. The mac had a bold aged asiago taste. Was crazy creamy but tasty. The hot link was disappointing. Definitely not a hot link. Seemed more like chicken sausage with a little spice. The butter for the cornbread had a nice hint of cinnamon and that the cornbread itself had a good flavor but I didnt taste it myself.

Went to Urban Roots Brewery today for a Birthday Celebration. Nice place - plenty of room indoor & outdoor. Outdoor area is also shaded.Nice selection of beers, some Ciders along with Wine. They also had Frose (Rose Slush) nice refreshing drink but “I Think” priced a little high for what you get ($9) for a small drink. Still tasty though. The beers were very reasonably priced.Now the food. It was really good. Nice selection of Smoked Meats. A variety of plates (nice size servings) along with a couple of larger sampler meals for groups of 4 or 8 people. There are also some sandwich selections. I will definitely being going back there again. If in the area you should visit this establishment- you won’t be disappointed

The Argus beef was very delicious, ribs just so so, because tasted no flavor and also, there were too many bugs when you seat at outside patio. The Citrus Tactics beer was super good.

Ive eaten a lot of bbq, and have had a lot of bad bbq. This place is not that. Damn near perfect food. Tender, full of flavour, and not the least bit dry. The spices are on point, and their house made sauces are absolutely killer. These folks put out the best bbq aside from my own. Absolutely killed it.

Salad was the best haha but then the burt ends. I didnt get a taco since it was two to a plate. Would go back. Plenty of seating inside and outside in the front and back patio. Parking a little tricky.

This is sacramentos newest breweries/Smokehouses and it is a great experience! I have had several Urban Roots Beers in the past and have enjoyed them all. I appreciate the modern approach to beer making and the global ingredient they source for their unique brews.I finally completed the circle by going and having some of their great eats. My sister had the brisket with mac & cheese and a side of the corn grits (which was an interesting and amazing twist). I had the Red Beans & Rice sprinkled with shaved brisket and that was ridiculously amazing.I was tipped to use a little bit of the spicy mustard drizzled on the brisket and it added another dimension of flavors to the whole equation.Lastly, one of my favorite parts about Urban Roots (other than great beer and eats) was their selection of sauces. They had a REALLY good spicy BBQ sauce as well as the aforementioned spicy mustard and a few others too.All in all, I would highly recommend this to anyone that loves great beer and food! Cheers!

Yes, mix because its not your normal BBQ sauce with lettuce and tomatoes. This was a blend of flavors in their sauce with a little tang, some spice and a blend that worked SO well.The burger held well in the bun, wasnt messy. No situation of excess bun, or overflowing patties.Brisket: Ill give you a the small down - it came cold-ish BUT . . . man was there flavor! We got a mix if meat and fat, and it was the perfect balance! The rub on that brisket was amazing - packed with flavor (even cold) - it was devoured, regardless.Salmon: cured and smoked, dont let the brown sugar in the description discourage you - its far from sweet! Ive NEVER had salmon like this. I cant do justice to the flavor - but it was delicious! The fish flaked apart, maintained a meatiness and filling.Sides: Mac n Cheese (OMG . . . its a must get) large macaroni, nicely allowing cheese to be inside the pasta as well! Instagram brought us here! We wanted to come on a chill day & we got to enjoy family time. We ordered the Brisket & Ribs with a side of Mac & Cheese. Unfortunately, I did forget the names of the beers but one was an IPA & the other was Belgium I believe? Either way, the beer was GREAT! Great establishment. My 11month old couldnt stop dancing to the music since we sat down.

A place I can always relay on for something to eat, the pulled pork sandwich has to be the best thing on the menu, if you ever decide to go, I definitely recommended putting on their homemade honey butter on the corn bread.

Good food and good beer, a nice patio out front and back to hang out. Front patio picnic tables are large so small groups have to share. It does get busy so plan to wait for a table during peak hours. Not vegetarian friendly, wish there was one veg option

Even though they ran out of EVERYTHING I was looking forward to eating on a Friday night, their burnt pork ends and sliders are still second to none in Sacramento. Reliable service AND reliable quality of food, no matter what you order. Can’t wait to come back!

Outstanding BBQ fare and delicious beers and wines. Opening event for Sacramento Bacon Week was well attended and offered small plates from some very good local restaurants. Dog friendly patio with heat lamps is my preference over the slightly too loud interior space.

Atmosphere was cool. Pastrami was terrible. I really wanted to like it. It wasnt even Pastrami...it was dried corned beef. There was no seasoning and it was...overcooked?...in spots. Im wild dissapointed and dont want to come back, I mean, I spent $18 for the worst Pastrami Ive ever had. And I like corned beef more than Pastrami, but this wasnt good corned beef.

Good food, a large selection of beer, plenty of seating, and family friendly. The smoked brisket is so tasty and nicely sliced. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful. This place has lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and when I went on Sunday dinnertime there was room for families, a birthday party, and some friends hanging out. If youre looking for a quiet spot, this isnt it, but I could still hold a conversation with a little bit of a raised voice. They had a family movie night going on in the large side room, and they also have some preschool type games on one of the walls. Food was yummy, staff were friendly, what more could you ask for.

The spot is great. There is a lot of space both indoor and outside. The food was great and the in house sauces hit the spot. The beer was decent. A different direction than most local breweries in Sac right now which is good since its just not more of the same, however Im not a huge fan of Saison so I was eh..... on thoses... but overall the spot was great.

Great atmosphere, phenomenal food and wonderful staff. The food is absolutely mouth watering delicious. While it feels a little pricey, most barbecue places are because of the complexity in making the food. You can select a main entree that comes with a side and bread, or they also have a number of different menu options to mix and match from. The dry St. Louis ribs are fantastic and they probably have the best french fries in all of Sacramento. Havent found anything on their menu I havent enjoyed. They offer their own brewed beer along with some wine and cider options for those who want something different. The staff here round out the whole experience and have been such a delight to talk to every visit.

BBQ place that is really cool. Nice indoor and outdoor eating areas with plenty of bench seating for large groups of people. The beer selection is good, and the quality of the beer coming from this brewery really shines. This was my first time here, and I will definitely be coming back to try some of the other beers they have available.

First time here and it was glorious. Beer is fantastic, exceeding many Sacramento breweries and holding its own. The bbq is the best I have had in sac and is comparable with the best bbq from famous bbq states. I will be back again and again!

Ive always enjoyed the food here so today I saw a new item. The Wild Mushroom Jambalaya. Well it did not disappoint. Rich sauce with many spices and sausage I think. I recommend. Great atmosphere, friendly service, good music and a crowd at lunch.

Best food and beer I’ve had since Covid hitting! Francisco(one of the hardest worker there) was super excited and knowledgeable about the place of business and all that was created there from the food to the best beer on tap!!! Sadly our conversation was cut sort by some Karen who was extremely unprofessional about handling the closing shift duties which totally ruined all the talking that francisco had done. It made me wonder how the upper management treatments the lower people on the payroll. As a person who’s in customer service there are certain ways to speak with coworkers and things you don’t do in front of customers and the way Karen spoke was just that. If I do return for the food and drinks it will be because of Francisco and all his knowledge!

First time here and OMG it is delicious. Had the Pull Pork sandwhich with Brisket Chilli. Most impressive was the wonderful customer service! Its been a long time since I have experienced such service. It wasnt just one person (though Audrey was great), the whole crew!!

Love this place! The brisket, fries, and mac and cheese are fantastic. But I absolutely love the beer here and their All The Way Up NE IPA is easily one of my favorite local IPAs👍 And last, the vibe here is chill and they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Absolutely the best brisket. 3 types of BBQ sauce. All the sides are D-LICIOUS.Would have been a 5 but there isnt table service. Although they deliver your food, you have to order it and your drinks at the counter. And NO TVs. I couldnt watch the NBA playoffs!

Place was completely packed, so obviously they dont need my opinion.I know this place is new and appears intentions are there, I will return with better hopes next time Im in town...will trust it was just a flukey flaw or busy day.

So, Ive been trying out all of the BBQ spots in Sacramento and this has to be the worst spot for me. I went for the first time last night and had the brisket, mac n cheese, collard greens, salmon, and cornbread. The cornbread, collard greens, and salmon were great, but the brisket and mac n cheese was horrible. The brisket was cold and lacked flavor, the mac n cheese was not the mac n cheese I thought it would be when you get BBQ. Also, how many times does a person have to request a glass of water before they actually receive it? 3 times, thats how many.I will never go there again and I will just stick to the BBQ spots that actually know how to make BBQ.

My boyfriend and I have been coming here for about a year or so. We’ve never had a bad experience ! The food has always been top tier and the beer as well. Service is usually pretty decent. If you’ve ever had a poor experience here, I promise it was a fluke. I personally love the placement being in a residential area. It makes it feel like home.
