Normally the food is good, but as of late the cook at this location acts like he doesn’t want to work. I ordered the old soul chorizo scramble. Not only was it cold upon arrival, it wasIn a Togo box when I ordered it. When I asked the young lady if I ordered it Togo she didn’t even know. The bread had no butter. No seasoning on the potatoes. And the eggs were burnt. If you don’t wanna come to work my guy just say that. But you ain’t gotta take it out on my food. Then instead of making something new the cook through the contents on a plate and just reserved it. The plate sat there for 2 hours while multiple employees walked by it. It was clear I was not eating this food. Not only that, the food was not prepared well. Large chucks of uncooked or unbroken down meat. No vegetables. This isn’t the first time. I only gave an extra star for the young lady who works at night typically. She goes out of her way.
I have visited all the Old Soul locations and have to say that this is one of my favorites. The drinks and treats are always consistent and the staff is always friendly. I really appreciate the indoor to outdoor seating ratio because it gives you plenty to chose from. I have never come in and not found a place to sit.
Took an out of town friend there for Breakfast. Hes a very discerning soul who likes quality in everything. He was very impressed with the food and the rear patio. Ive been coming here for the past 2 years or so, its close by, and has everything a coffee shop could ask for and the menu is excellent..highly recommend it.
Third visit and I keep hoping for better customer service.. rude! I kindly asked for the wifi password and the gal told me to check the clipboard up front. However she told someone else dining near me moments later… beautiful shop place with a great atmosphere though. I got the veggie quiche..
Rustic interior, comfortable seating as well as outdoor seating, chill atmosphere. Historic feel. Large breakfast/brunch menu as well as espresso menu. Neat place to study and meet up with friends. House made syrups. Latte on the sweet, creamy side. And: they play Colony House, Young the Giant, and the 1975.Parking: 2 hour parking available on surrounding streets.
There is a citrus herbal tea here that is wonderful and red!
Coffee was burnt an extremity acidic. Furniture needs fixing seating was badly damaged. But service was good
Great coffee and food. Very helpful and friendly staff. And the seating is one of my favorite in Midtown.
This place is s cute cafe with local art on the walls and a great outdoor seating area. Its a fine place to sit down with a cup of coffee and a book or your laptop. The music is just the right volume-- something that many cafes never do correctly. The furniture is a charming mishmash of repurposed doors, sturdy wooden tables, and unmatched chairs.Big plus: they have many non-caffienated items.
Lovely place with a great atmosphere, good food and coffee too, only thing is that their customer service could be better.
The setting is wonderful. The building is very attractive. Unfortunately those things do not extend to the staff. They are unfriendly and inattentive. Maybe one has to be one of their crowd to be treated well. Idk. Idc because the coffee is TERRIBLE. Acrid. Bitter. They only offer one brew. The aforementioned crowd must have an Emperors New Clothes taste for coffee. The WS seems to have fooled them into believing that coffee is drinkable. Avoid this spot unless you must see every Sacramento landmark.
Went in this morning to order a chai. It didn’t taste anything like chai, so I returned and explained that it was just hot milk, so the employees were kind enough to remake it.Unfortunately I ended just throwing that one away, and it’s not like I didn’t order a chai there before so I know how it tasted good as is. The 3 old souls I’ve visited are never consistent, but the employees weren’t rude about it. I won’t be returning here as I’ve been to another shop that can give me the exact same drink every time, and not regretting to spend 5.50$ that ended down the drain.
I’ve never felt so unwelcome anywhere, I totally understand everyone has bad days but every employee was honestly mean, the only time they said thanks was after we tipped, which is nice but they went right back to being rude after when they gave us our food. You ALWAYS TIP regardless of service because I’m in customer service too, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone the vibes are rancid
I know coffee shops typically have a really nice cafe but this one more than any I think feels like it belongs in this midtown sacramento neighborhood nestled in all the trees. Really relaxing place to be. Plus they have not just coffee and tea, but also kombucha, beer, and wine, and not many other places do.
Its alright. Coffees decent, in a good neighborhood, service is good but the prices are just ridiculously high.
I was lucky enough to meet the old soul himself. What a wonderful place to pass the time. xoxo - “strong tasty coffee”
My favorite local coffee shop. Great atmosphere, delicious breakfast. A bit too pricey in all honesty, but still worthy of 5 stars.
On a hot day and early evening it was awesome to sit on the patio with a cold hibiscus tea.. Yum!
Such a cute coffee shop! Loved the caramel mocha I got! It was delicious. They have an outdoor patio that is beautiful, with lots of tables and chairs and also seating area in the front of their shop, which is awesome because there’s room there even on a Saturday morning. The baristas are nice and they even serve food here as well.
FLIESFLIES everywhere inside.Theres a huge FLY PROBLEM inside the cafe. Probably emanating from unclean conditions on site somewhere.Maybe if they turned the AC on, the interior would meet ASHRAE standards for heating and cooling; be more hygienic, and perhaps solve the fly problem. At the rate they are going, pretty soon theyll have to start enforcing the mask policy on their permanent guests - the FLIES who fly around as they please carrying COVID from table to table. Better quicker service than what the cashier offers, thats for sure.Service is nothing special too. Mostly meh Im underpaid, with the occasional routine tyranny when I guess something motivating happens that triggers the cashiers personal rage. For the record, most Gen Xers would just figure out a way to have have fun with the given circumstances - tragic as they may be. Not the host of this place.Like the other reviewer said about having a bad day, I dont think thats the case here. I think its just routine stodginess by the service. Might be a generational thing. Maybe its the sophistication of the exposed brick interiors (really is it that much of a novelty here? So commonly encountered back home in Chicago). Who knows?
This is a fantastic Midtown cafe. It has history and is so unique. Definitely go if you havent been. The food is great too.
Amazing coffee and food. Love Old Soul. Definitely a detour when passing through Sacramento
This place offers a great hipster atmosphere with the emerging art collections on the walls, and festive decor. The place attracts the young and the wise. Overall fun place to mingle, get a quick high quality cup of coffee. If you like nice milky and sweet espresso drinks - I suggest to order their Caramel Latte (add extra organic caramel for more sweetness).
This place is beautiful. It was my first time and I cant wait to come back. I was just here to meet a friend who recommended this place and she was right. The Hot chocolate and the carnitas breakfast platter was so good. The hot chocolate wasnt too hot and it was very good. Adding a little of their flavorful tangy hot sauce took it up a notch. If you are wanting a quiet place to study or a place to catch up with a friend. Come here. The staff were friendly and when asking questions they were sweet to answer
Beautiful outdoor seating that is socially distanced. The food is absolutely spectacular. I feel like Im pn vacation sitting out in their courtyard. And coffee is delicious
BEST COFFEE IN MIDTOWN. All the locals know, you want amazing quality, a very homey atmosphere, or calm place to study or work this is hands down the best spot. Has a great patio out back with a fire and a friends like atmosphere in the inside. Great staff and very good coffee! Food is good too, always fresh and organic.
Great environment . Food was delicious. First time there but wont be last.
My favorite place for chai latte
Just an incredible place to spend time. Had a very nice tea, salad and croissant over the course of several hours sitting outside to work for a few hours with a plug nearby (next to fountain) in the very charming patio area. Good WiFi and great service. Will make this a regular spot when in Sac. I was also very impressed with the seriousness with which they take the Covid crisis and the precautions they take with both staff and guests. Very responsible and appreciated.
Carrot pineapple muffin is amazing, but overall I love this place
This is a great Sacramento staple coffee shop. Great service and excellent coffee!
Very very nice vibe to the place, loved it!! And I got French toast super delicious I would definitely recommend ! My friend got a delicious salad and we were both happy with our meals. The coffee is a bit bitter for my preference but overall I had a good experience:) the green popy/ kiwi sauce was not my cup of tea but everything else was great
I love this place! Everyone is super kind and they’re great at making coffee. I get the veggie quiche and an iced latte and everything is wonderful. Five stars because of the great service and products! Love that it’s has a large outdoor location also-much needed in this time!
Nice ambiance outdoors, cozy indoors. Good food and coffee!
Perfect place for pdr(public display of reading[or writing if u make the r a w]), broken hearted glares to the distance, or a spot to recoup from a long days night. Bathroom graffiti is kept to a minimum which is why Im giving 4 stars
This is a really great whole in the wall. It’s cosy and beautiful. There is a patio area to have coffee & breakfast. It’s usually very busy and sometimes you may not find a table. Parking can be a challenge you may need to park a block or two away so be aware of that. Overall it’s a very homey feel coffee spot. It’s the perfect intimate place for a lazy Sunday brunch or morning. Pre-COVID you could sit inside near the windows or on their comfy chairs. The breakfast is awesome, and I’m not saying your typical bagel and muffin breakfast. They have breakfast plates too.
Sacramento has soul and it lives in that veggie breakfast sandwich and that biscuit biscuit gravy with bacon and in the lychee iced tea.
Great atmosphere here with art hanging on brick inside and a spacious courtyard outside. The staff were friendly, there was lots of seating, and there seemed to be plenty out outlets for plugging in. I got the regular drip coffee, and it was a little bit fruity for my liking but Im sure youd be happy with it if youre into that.
Great unique sandwiches. Very clean and friendly. I will come again to eat, and I recommend them. 🙂
The first time I came here was on the recommendation of my Irish American friend. He kept telling me to go to Wederstone and it took a few times to understand what he was saying. So once I got my coffee here from Weatherstone I was pleased! Great coffee, fun relaxed atmosphere, yummy lunches and the absolute best chocolate chip cookies in the area! Definitely check it out.
It is a nice little coffee shop. The facility is well kept and great for studying. My only complaint is that the pastries might not be the most well kept. I noticed flies sitting on top of them. I made note of it to an employee and I am afraid he still sold those pastries that day. That being said, I would just recommend staying away from their pastries.
Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I travel around Sacramento & surrounding areas doing coffee tasting and when I walked in on (01/10/21 Roughly 11:15am) I wasnt even greeted.....I told the gentleman that it my 1st time here so give me a minute while I browse the menu. (He said nothing)....I placed my order (Also left a tip because I always tip, didnt even say thank you)....After I placed my order he hands me my number (still hasnt said anything to me).....as we wait for our food and drinks another gentleman brought us the 1st drink, he seemed friendly, he said heres the cappuccino and the other drink is coming right up. The guy that took our order is now making MY drink....Im a barista myself and I saw after he frothed the milk he just poured it in the cup literally (No sense of professionalism). After he completed my drink he grabbed my food and walked over set my drink and food on the counter, took the number and literally just turned around and went back doing whatever it was that he was doing. Didnt even say heres your latte, or thank you, have a great day, or anything. Because of my experience here, I definitely wont be returning. Hope the owner reads this review, and if he/she cares, I hope he will make some changes.
My favorite coffee shop in Sacramento (by far)Great atmosphere. Great food. Always consistent. :)
Nice cozy place. Their steak salad was great. Ambiance is good. It can get busy but its still a nice location. Atmosphere is very inviting.
Great local coffee shop.
Great coffee AND food is amazing too!!
I come here mainly for the carrot pecan muffin it is so good.
Normally I would have posted a pic but food looked so good I couldnt stop. Really nothing but good experiences here. Bring your appetite because portions are generous. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I loved to visit.
Parking can be tough, but good friendly vibe.
Great place for a date! Coffee, tea, beer, cider, small plates, large plates, pastries! Whatever youre in the mood for, plus a cute patio! Some of the best social distancing available in midtown as well!
Wonderful sandwich and great iced coffee. Thanks BB for dinner and thanks for letting me wash my hands. Hand sanitizer isnt what the doctor ordered you need to wash your hands for 20 seconds.
Great Hangout
Barista was inpatient and rushed me. Gave me a dirty look after they missed a private phone call during my order. After I confirmed I wanted my drink mixed my drink still came out with a blob of caramel on the bottom still not mixed. Breakfast sandwich was very small. I dont think Ill be coming back to this location.
Coffee is too strong and no service if I dont war a mask.
I just stopped in for a coffee, but the menu looked incredible. Next time I will have to order something. Staff was very friendly and made me the best ices latté Ive ever had!
Great place to go for a bite to eat or chill with a cup of coffee and tea. I’ve been here multiple times and have had a great experience to each time. Nothing negative to say here only greatness!
This was one of my favorite coffee shops while visiting Sacramento. I had quiche with spring salad and an oat milk vanilla latte. I loved their patio at night when the fire pit was lit. Its very cozy. They brought a water bowl out for my sisters dog.
I like this place, but not letting you use the bathroom is not cool. I was told because of government requirements, they dont have time to clean it. I dont see anyone walking around cleaning anything else. Reverse the policy: people need to pee after coffee!
Great place. Wish there were more vegan options.Update: The only vegan food I was told they have and offered was hummus. It was yummy.
Great coffee, very cozy. Old Souls espresso is some of the best Ive had in the Sacramento area. The shop is in a brick and mortar building, lighting is low and there are plenty of comfy seats inside. They also have a covered terrace outside with lots of greenery. If you like coffee with a lot of character, give this place a visit!
Good food, moderately populated
This place is great. Beautiful scenery, patio with fire pit, I can indulge in delicious baked goods or get a healthy salad. Special attention goes into the menu, nice selection of unique teas too. Nice patrons, lots of people studying, work meetings or the solo diner.
Great coffeeshop atmosphere! Good coffee, cute patio, comfortable vibe. Friendly staff. My goto coffee shop.
Love love love the food! I wish there was more staff to help out the customers because the lines are pretty long. I also wish they had a paper menu. My client had a wheelchair and wanted to sit outside, so I had to take a picture of the menu and show her what they severed. Other than that great place.
This is the best coffee Ive ever tasted. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The menu is outstanding they have something here for everyone whether you are in the mood for coffee tea or even a fine wine. The beer is the best beer you can ever imagine super cold ready on tap. I love this place and there are several locations in the Sacramento area. Check out Old Soul today!!!!
Cute little coffee shop. Their pastries and Expresso drinks are delicious and the breakfast sandwich I had was just filling enough. All around decent place to go.
Never any seating. Wait times are long regardless of it is busy or not. Coffee is good but never worth the wait. Chocolate Fish and many other coffee places are much better.Company also supports racist ideals and beliefs.
First impression: not very welcoming staff. The almond croissant really wasnt that at all. It seemed more like a dinner roll with a light glaze and some almonds sprinkled on top. The breakfast sandwich was put together very sloppily and one bite was so intensely salty I had to spit it out, otherwise the sandwich was very tasty. The vanilla latte was bitter and I couldnt taste any vanilla in it, but when I tried my boyfriends exact same drink it was sweeter and creamier. Overall I feel the staff do not care much about what theyre doing. I have no interest in returning.
Very peaceful atmosphere, with amazing food and service
Beautiful location. Love the outdoor seating. On occasion it can be a bit of a wait when ordering food. The staff is very friendly. Love the barista that is always rocking out to the music playing whilst making the beverages! They have great coffee beans for sale as well!
Old Soul is a very friendly cafe. The food is great and the atmosphere is laid-back. You are never rushed to finish and free up your table. Ive spent many hours relaxing and talking with friends.
One of my favorite cafes to meet friends, colleagues and acquaintances for coffee or hanging out. The building and courtyard is stunningly beautiful and filled with a rustic decor. Theres plenty of seating both inside and outside, but get here a little early because seats take a little time to turnover with regulars working and enjoying their own social visits. I am in love with their pastries and enjoy their coffee which they roast at their other downtown location. Their kitchen turns out a solid selection of different dishes focused more of breakfast and lunch. Their hours are amazing as they open early and close late, so its a perfect spot for any meetup occasion.
