John Gill is an expert repair person. He has worked on dozens of our university instruments: bass - alto - contra clarinets, basset horns, bassoon, contra bassoon, all the saxes, all the flutes, oboe / English horns - nothing phases him - even renaissance recorders. Hes quick, professional, and his prices are a steal for the amount of expert knowledge and skill. I cant say enough good things about him and his store. If you care about your horn hes the technician to call.
We just purchased a mandolin at Got-A-Gig Music. The experience was great and I highly recommend this store! John is one of the most talented instrument repair persons in NoCal. Thanks to J&M.
1.) John does GOOD, HONEST, repair work at a FAIR PRICE2.) He has great ATTENTION TO DETAIL3.) He has a lifetime of experience and the pros trust him4.) Hes the best in the greater Sacramento area.
Very disappointed, women yelled on me for no reason. I asked her to stop yelling and the man came from the back door and cussed me out badly. He said for me to get out of the store and it was so mean.If you don’t want to be disappointed, don’t even come to this store.
They have a very terrible service, the employees yell on you for the no reason, I’ll never ever go there again! Not recommended!
Great staff! I was able to get my bassoon fixed professionally and quickly. Our go to place for repairs and good deals on great instruments.
It’s really bad workers they are really aggressive don’t ever come here
I wont be back here. I was playing one of the guitars, and was told to stop playing because the owner was talking to a customer. I admit, it was a bit rude and did stop playing, but then it was like if youre not going to buy type of things, and it was a 5 minute limit on trying the guitars. So I tried another, but same thing happened within a minute so I left. This is why I go to my local Skips and Guitar Center where I do feel welcomed and theres no pressure in buying, play limit, have name brands, and have been around for decades.
The owner (John) and the lady at the front desk were very helpful and nice. Both gave me great recommendations and walked out happy.
I got kicked out of the store and the employees are really mean!
Took my clarinet in here to be completely overhauled. John did a fantastic job with it.I didnt realize that my instrument was as bad as it was until I heard how beautifully it played after the repairs. Will most deafinently be bringing my Tenor Sax here for its overhaul as well. I also recommend him to others to get their instruments that need work call John.I wont go anywhere else.
Super bad service
What a charming music store! The owner was very kind, and let my son sit and play the guitar for quite a while. Well definitely be back when we buy him an acoustic guitar!
Ive known of this business for years... very highly recommended by my friends, by me.. and without reservations... anyone who can repair a broken ukulele for $30 is doing something correctly, as this business is. thanks
John Gill is EXCELLENT and really cares about his work and the clients he serves.
My husband likes them for all his musical needs and he bought a really nice Sax there.
Very friendly staff! They give lessons. You can buy instruments and purses there too!
The owners were amazing and had a great selection for a small store. They even gave me a gift with my purchase!
I have had 2 saxophones totally restored by John and he keeps my other instruments in top working order as well. With 45 years experience, he is by far the best instrument repair man I have found and probably the best woodwind and brass repairman in Northern California. If Branford Marsalis trust John to work on his instruments he must be doing something right. It is hard for me to believe that he could have insulted some one. John is very laid back and is always in a cheerful mood.Steve
The gentleman who runs this place is a terrific guy. Just really friendly and willing to help. Its a boutique shop, specializing in wood and wind mostly, I think. So I would call first to make sure they have the items or services you need (you wont find any Marshall Stacks in there). I needed help with some wiring on my active pups, and thats not really the kind of work he does here. But if he cant help you, hell recommend someone who can. He recommended Arnie, over at Klines on Sutterville, and Arnie fixed the active EMGs on my electric guitar for $20.
John has always done great work and always fairly priced - one of the best technicians in the area - otherwise, you have to go to the bay area.
I had excellent customer service today and the self service kiosk is convenient. Also they accept the McDonalds app so thats a plus
John is the ultimate repair pro for woodwinds, especially Flutes.
Its a cozy little shop run by a guy whos easy to get along with and knows what hes talking about.
Great place for instruments - great selection - great service.
