The store owner was a wealth of knowledge. I came because I am learning Japanese and trying to immerse myself in the culture. She walked me through the store and guided me through things that I could start with even recommended things that were vegan she was so kind. Even recommended places I could pick up more Japanese

Love this store, I always get my rice and sauces here. Great noodle and cold case selection as well! They also have beautiful ceramics, I have several ramen bowls and tea cups from this shop. Very fair prices!

I grew up eating Japanese food so its my privilege to be able to cook Japanese food for my all-American husband. Tokyo has quite a few selections for the best ingredients and fresh products. Its rather pricey, but when I think of the convenience of having a Japanese food store within such short distance, I cant complain. Its a great place to buy a little souvenir for your friends and loved ones too. I speak Japanese so I aways talk to the owner in Japanese, and its a breathe of fresh air to converse in Japanese in a town like Salinas. She gives me suggestions, and keeps me updated on products sold there. I normally visit in the morning so there wont be any crowd since its a relatively small store. Theres always something for anyone there at Tokyo. I highly recommend this place for those who are interested in oriental foods and snacks.

I had an excellent experience in this place. We liked the superb ambience and the meals. The waiters are super amiable. I’m glad we eventually managed to visit this restaurant.

My favorite spot in salinas to get some ramune, udon noodles, & iced coffee... among many other snacks and goodies! Take some time to look around cuz there is so much cool items

Beautiful goods in a sweet little shop. The shop is tiny, but look in every corner and youll find lovely Japanese goods. The shopkeeper is more than happy to special order goods as needed.

The owner educates you on Japanese cuisine, how to choose what to buy, how to properly prepare it, the history of it, etc. as you shop. Very helpful.

The foods and drinks sold in this store are authentic - almost every label on the packaging will say product of Japan and shipped from Japan (just to be specific). The variety is marvelously wide, both in category and in flavor. Youll find everything from Yan Yan and melon flavored mochi to dried crabs and fresh octopus. Moreover, a wonderful array of trinkets and other items can be found, including origami, printed chop sticks, tea sets, and bento boxes. The average price of the items is very reasonable, and the shop owner is a friendly woman who will answer all your questions about the store and Japanese cuisine thoroughly and enthusiastically. This store is truly a gem, and I know it will have exactly what youre looking for.

They don’t have much variety but I’m glad I don’t have to drive to Marina to buy Monchi :)
