Informed me of a deal on the model I called about, and even held the price for a day while I got someone to loan me the amount.The bike itself is really fun, its great to be able to cruise at top speed at not be worn out not. The stepthrough frame of the Magnum is nice too. Much easier on my hip.

I’ve been researching electric bikes since February. I’ve been to a few bike shops for a closer look, but once I took a test ride, I was hooked! After reading countless articles and watching countless videos I finally had the confidence to make a decision.I’ve literally ridden my bike past Electric Bicycle Central (EBC) several times but when I finally decided to go in, they had just temporarily closed their shop when the essential business order first went into effect. With phase two of the restrictions being lifted, I took a drive by the shop and though they appear closed, they are open by appointment. I called and Matt answered, patiently addressing my many questions in detail. When I mentioned I was talking to him in front of their store, I had an instant appointment and he invited me in.Matt is very personable, knowledgeable and patient as I discussed my research and drilled for more info. Though you might be able to find equivalent bikes a few dollars less online, EBC is a local shop that I can physically go to see, feel, test ride, pick up and most importantly go for service if needed.In case you’re not aware, bikes and especially electric bikes are selling like hotcakes during the COVID crises. Every well reviewed online electric bike website I’ve researched requires a preorder for delivery in a month if your lucky. Matt confirmed my desire for a folding electric bike and I chose their Magnum Premium High Step. The adjustability to fit many sized riders, its portability along with it’s relatively light weight and performance made it perfect. I got lucky and an order of this bike is coming in next week!Electric Bike Central is a beautiful, immaculate, contemporary bike shop that’s been around for 10-years. The caliber of their store characterizes the staff and the quality of their inventory. It’s clear that Matt is experienced, passionate, customer service oriented and an all around nice guy. I briefly met one of their bike technicians and he reflects the same integrity.In summary, if you’re looking for an electric bike, make sure to contact Electric Bike Central before making a purchase. Their prices are very competitive and it’s hard to put a price on the convenience of local presence and support. Tell Matt, Roger sent you, though I suspect he’ll take excellent care of you regardless.

They have a very good selection of good e-bikes. The prices are also better than a lot of other places. However, the level of service, support and information you get varies a lot, depending on who is there at the time. When I bought my bike, for example, it was like pulling teeth to get the guy to explain anything about how the various features worked. Im not some high school kid who likes to mess around with things until I figure them out (or break them). And there was an electric terminal cover (to cover the terminals if you want to ride the bike without the battery) that I didnt get; turns out it was supposed to be included. I had to get it from the West Coast distributor.So: uneven staff but good stuff. Be persistent; its your money.

Those bikes are amazing!! The owner (Matt) is probably the nicest person Ive ever met! My in-laws were in town from Wisconsin for Christmas and we wanted to do something outdoors, so at Matts suggestion we rented the bikes and took the ferry over to Coronado. My in-laws are in their late 50s and the electric assist on their bikes enabled them to keep up with us youngsters. Matt also suggested we have lunch on the outdoor patio of the Del. We definitely used the electric assists after eating too much ice cream after lunch.The in-laws said that it was the highlight of their trip!I would absolutely recommend E.B.C!

My wife and I had been shopping around the different electric bikes that are available to purchase here in San Diego and had been doing some research online also. There are so many manufacturers of electric bikes these days which can make it a bit hard when your new to the e-bike world. It had come down to two, the Magnum Cruiser and the Pedego Cruiser. We first came to Electric Bike Central and was greeted by Matt.. super nice guy. Showed my wife and I the bikes we had researched which were the cruisers, Matt gave us a helmet and a couple of bikes and took them for a test drive. Right off the bat I really wasn’t knowing what to expect but they rode very comfortable, looked good, they have a cool digital readout which consist of a battery meter reading, speedometer, trip counter, I am probably some others that I didn’t get a chance to play with.... did I say that they Road very comfortable! Anyhow, Took the bikes back to Matt he was great at answering all the questions we had and concerns that my wife had as far as the different types of seats available and such. Matt was very accommodating which made everything much better and he wasn’t being pushy type salesman at all. Fast forward to Pedago in downtown San Diego.. we were greeted by the owner which by contrast to Matt was very pushy right off the bat.. so we also took some bikes out to try....they did not ride as comfortable nor look as nice... they just didn’t seem right like something was off on them, they were supposed to be a comfort cruiser bike but my arms seem to not be as comfortable riding them as the magnum bikes were, nor was the seat. They were also twice as expensive!!! We had told the owner at Pedego that we were shopping around trying out e-bikes. He asked us what other brand we had tried and we had told them we had gone to try out the magnum cruisers. I am a business owner myself and I never talk down or bad about other manufacturers as this gentleman did about the magnum bikes. So right away that was a turn off for us... I get it he was just trying to sell us some bikes but we had kind of already made our decision and it wasn’t going to be the Pedego Brand.So look guys...I’m not one to write yelp reviews as you can see in my profile but my wife and I really got a great experience at Electric Bike Central with Matt. He has a pretty large selection of more expensive bikes, high-end and what have you if you need something like that....not that the brand that I chose wasnt. But if you are In the market for a new e-bike, I highly suggest you stop by and see Matt, you will see what I’m talking about once you meet him, he’s a great guy, has a cool shop and will bend over backwards to make sure you have the correct bike to suit your needs.

They have the best selection of ebikes and are very knowledgeable about all of them...the service is amazing..no one in the city is better than Matt...he is kind and patient.

Three stars for the fun we did have. But, I must not have met the owner. The guy that was there Tuesday morning Oct. 18 neglected to inform me that my bikes left petal would fall off 30 minutes into the rental time. Luckily I found a good samaritan with an allen wrench. Oh, but he (rental guy) did say the battery would last all day easily. It quit early on me causing me to almost not make it back. Again, Luckily, I had enough human power, but it was a work out and time was ticking. I dont think it shouldve been my fault if I didnt make it, but I wont have to find out, thankfully. It was pretty fun though, I have to admit.

When it comes to E-Bikes, Matt is the man in San Diego. I went to the electric bike expo in Feb 2016 & rode just about every model bike there. Almost every vendor highly recommended Matt as the most knowledgeable e-bike distributor in the area. Matt will help ease you in to any bike youre interested in & will never push you to make a purchase youre not comfortable with. I never submit reviews for anything, but feel obligated to share my experience with Electric Bike Central.Btw, I have 3000 miles on my electric bike, use it to commute 75% of the work-year. I have saved $360 in gas. Also, using AAAs cost of ownership fee of ~$.55/mile another $1500 or so. Taking in to consideration the time savings by not spending an hour in the gym & another hour in a car commuting, im saving ~188hrs/year. Thats close to 5 work-weeks of vacation. There really is no debate here, an e-bike will greatly improve all aspects of your life.If youre looking for advice, get a Stromer that goes 28mph. The bike is built so well, it can go 16-20mph on a flat surface w/out any electric motor assistance. Also, it rides smooth as butter.
