Converted My 2012 Audi A4 from a single exit exhaust to a dual outlet single tip.Took some parts I needed fitted and welded into position to my man at La Mesa muffler and of course he hooked it up real nice as usual. Great custom work at an even better price.

Rick was amazing! Very kind and professional guy. If I could rate 6 stars I would & I really mean that. I was referred by PepBoys. Rick was super flexible with me when setting up my appointment and his seating area is unbelievably comfortable (I think its old car seats). I thought the appointment was going to take a lot longer than it did, but he was so efficient I didnt even crack open the book I brought or pop a headphone in. He was really thoughtful when telling me about what the fix was and showing me the parts. I would send absolutely anyone here.

On 3/5/21, i took my 1994 Toyota pickup to this muffler shop. The man was friend and gave me an honest quote of $100 to weld up my exhaust. I returned about 45-minutes later to see my truck outside of the shop. At first I thought maybe he did not start it yet or there was a problem? I was wrong my truck was completed. The shop did not just do a good job, they did an outstanding job . All the welds were great and they even welded an additional part and did not charge me. My truck runs like new now and I will definitely be back for future service.Thank you La Mesa Muffler and Brakes for the great service.

Rick is a very nice guy! Very great mechanic shop! Definitely going back when my car needs work done.

Over priced parts. Charges 120 for a flex pipe it a 50 dollar part at most. A new catalytic converter is 150 -200 and comes with that part.Charged 125 to do a stock bend for the rear and 35 for the front. The premade part for the whole bend from rock auto is 43.79.Charged 25 dollars per hanger .... its a 5 inch metal rod thats bent. And come with the 43.79 dollar premade part.Only reason I played 300 dollars in parts and 200 dollars in labor to patch and reuse my muffler and catalytic converter was because it was a sunday no one else was open including junkyards for parts. The cost to over night the parts was 200 for all new exaughst system and 200 for 3 day shipping. 400 dollars. If you got the time do it your self.After asking Rick why he overcharged me for parts he said its what I charge.Not a bad guy...? but he will charge roughly 100 hr for labor and double your parts cost. Install is legit, welds are solid.

Rick was the coolest guy. Someone stole my catalytic converter and went in expecting to pay an arm and a leg.. but he was very helpful walked me through everything, and gave me a great price. Left very happy! I would absolutely recommend this place.

I have a 2011 Dodge Charger that I had bought earlier this year and Ive always wanted to add a bit of oof to the sound of the exhaust...I was approaching the garage and the tech, Rick, greeted me even when I was half way from the garage and I asked him for a quote about upgrading my exhaust. So he took my car in, and installed a part just to see what it sounded like and its exactly what I wanted. He got done about less than an hour and said if I ever want to make it more quiet then I can always come back and make some adjustments. Overall, Im glad I came here instead of another shop I had initially went to. His service is definitely worth 5 stars!

The job service was completed as promised.As an aside, I appreciated that he was extremely honest and did not perform any unnecessary actions. Came here before got my exhaust done few years ago, very short with words. Gave a 5 star for doing a good job. Called today 07/16/20 now updating the review on this guy to 1 star. Very rude on the phone. Might wanna work on your socializing skills bud.

Great experience, staff is skilled and efficient, prices very reasonable, quality work.

Made the mistake coming here out of convenience with them being open on a Sunday. Very confused on how this place stays in business as they did not want to install axle-back part of my cat-back exhaust. They charge full price for a install but will only do half the job. Save your time and just go to Ed Hanson or any other real muffler shop as they will get you taken care of with no hassle.

Someone hit my new 2013 ATS Cadillac I just bought and bent the muffler. He took my car in right away and was super fast only took an hour. The muffler was replaced and fixed better than the original one when I bought the car. He was very reasonable with pricing. I would recommend him to anyone.

Rick i believe assisted me he was nice but when i asked what i wanted he told me how much i was working with and when i told him it felt to me as if he stoped showing interest in my business and i felt stereo typed for my financial situation so i left.

Definitely 5 star rating! I had taken my car to the dealership because I could tell there was something wrong with the muffler, and was told I had to replace the whole exhaust system (which would have cost almost as much as the car). I then took it to La Mesa Mufflers & Brakes, and Rick was able to repair the crack in my muffler in less than an hour, without replacing any parts! (and for a much more reasonable price). Super friendly staff, very professional, and great work. 5/5!

Rick is amazing!! He saved me $2000.00 and had me in and out of his shop in 2 1/2 hours changing my catalytic converters. I had went to 3 different shops and spent over $400 to get no results. I walked into La Mesa Muffler and Rick did everything he could to save me money. As for all the reviews saying Rick is rude, I call complete BS on that. Rick is straight to the point and gets the job done. I also read a review saying he was prejudice, I call BS on that as well one of my sons is African American and he was nothing but polite and nice to him. This place was great. A friend convinced me to take off my muffler for fun to see what it sounds like. The very next day I go to La Mesa Mufflers and Brakes to get a straight pipe. Rick helped me out quickly and professionally, with a reasonable price.

Owner, Rick is very knowledgeable and friendly and does things the old school way, that many places do not do, or do not know how to do anymore. Fast quality service. Independently-owned muffler shop can do small jobs as well as big ones. I have been there a couple times as well as a co-worker and others and we have always gotten excellent service and repairs.

Way overpriced, the guy I meet with seemed irritated and just acting like he did not want to do anything! I only went there because the shop I go too was closed, but now I know why I will never go to this shop ever!! Customer service is the worst... I know exactly how much the cost should’ve been based on other quotes by more reputable shops and he was just acting like everything was too much work saying things that didn’t make sense, How it’s going to take a long time, just trying to oversell me! Don’t waste your time or money!!

After being ripped off by a previous mechanic who put the wrong catalytic converter on my van, which ended up causing damage to my muffler, being referred to Rick at La Mesa Mufflers & Brakes was such a relief! I had told him of my prior experience and he couldnt have been nicer. He answered all of my questions and did fantastic work! Rude and Racist... called for a quote on back brakes he said 60 if I supply parts I said its a bit higher than I want to pay right now, and hes said what would yu like to pay I said realistically around 40 for such a simple job. He replied maybe the Orientals will do it for that and hung up.Keep in mind I was not rude at all. In this thought I would never do business with these people.

Rick is awesome! I stopped in with a 2 to 3 stainless steel exhaust adapter and asked if the 2 end could be expanded to 2 1/8 to slip fit over the 2 tuyère of my charcoal forge. Rick took the adapter and in under two minutes had it expanded for a perfect fit. When I asked him how much he replied, No charge. I was blown away.I would have spent the better part of an hour trying to do the same thing with a rented pipe expander from OReilly and it would have been a challenge to secure the 3 end in my vise without damaging it. Super stoked!
