Brought in an old 2010 Subaru Impreza with stock radio and speakers.Had no idea on what to do to improve the system and easily could have been led astray.JR was great and recommended changing speakers to the four Alpine S 65-c. He said could upgrade the headset or add Amp or woofer later if unsatisfied with the sound. They placed the speakers promptly which upgraded the system from horrible to very good without needing to change the main radio or place and Amp or Woofer. Work was excellent and the cost was very reasonable with the speaker price beating anything on line. Workmanship was great. Very pleased with purchase, installation and professionalism of the staff.
Good at selling you on an over priced system but horrible install they cut corners and always have a reason for why they had to do it. I spent 7k and you would think they would hook you up but nope jankey all the way.
This was my first time coming to the store and it was in the middle of the week during noon time so it was not busy at all. When I came into the store, I was not greeted at all by two employees standing at the front desk who just stared at me and did not say a single word. It was not a big deal but I had to actually come up to the front desk and flag someone down after waiting around the main area for a couple of minutes. There was only one client being serviced in the store so I should of been serviced without asking. The employee that I eventually flagged down was nice and courteous and came out to my car to see my issue. I wanted to see if they could secure a secondary battery that had came loose and asked how much it would be to put it in a different area, preferably next to my main battery. The employee said it was a 100 dollars per hour for labor and said the job would be an estimated 500 dollars to move a battery to the back of my Dodge Charger where my main battery was. I asked them why it would take 4-5 hours to do that since it’s been done in past for not even 1 hour of labor. I told them I had a secondary battery installed and fitted next to my main battery at a Dodge Dealership for practically nothing and felt as though the pricing estimate was way off and unfair.I felt as though maybe they were trying to scam me for such a simple job and were increasing labor prices due to slow business. In the past year or so, I have only paid 50 dollars or so an hour for labor at other places to fix or install minor things.Just the price alone made me feel as though this place is scamming people out of money. When I asked the employee when they could get it scheduled, he said it would take a week which I felt was a lie due to me questioning him about the estimate. After that, I thanked him and said I would look around. He gave me his business card and that was the it.I would of gave it three stars had I been greeted and properly serviced but I did not feel welcomed and had to flag someone down. I can only imagine the final product/service if they did my battery when they can’t even provide simple greeting at the door. I will definitely shop around some more and hopefully find a better place.
Do not used this place for Stereo needs, they did a horrible job on installation, they were supposed to install the Amp underneath the seat, instead they crammed it up under the driver side dash, and did it with poor wiring. They replaced all of my 6 speakers and they were not fitted correctly, there were gaps in all of them. But most of all, they are over priced. They dont even deserve one star. I wish I can post photos.
They did a proper install. But I can’t help but feel like I got worked over on pricing. They Installed stereo that I bought and provided all the parts for, and bought a backup camera thorough them - total bill $425 for labor and the camera. It’s really high pricing. I got my Other car done with another company and same quality work for $150 (I bought the camera this time so full disclosure this is just the labor). What really irks me though is I trusted the guy Eddie on a recommendation for the camera, and he smooth talked me saying it was a top of the line backup camera and I took his word for it. It doesn’t have active parking lanes and has bad night vision. Can’t be more than $50 on crutchfield. We all got to make a living man, but no need for the overkill.Anyway, live and learn.
Great group of guys. Ask for Junior, he’ll take care of you. I’ve referred several friends as they’ve all been super satisfied. They’re crazy competitive and their prices can’t be touched.
Great experience! Kevin was informative and very knowledgeable. The time was taken to make sure that everything I wanted and didnt know I wanted was taking care off. Highly recommend this place. I will be bringing my truck to get some upgrades.
2017 Toyota Camary Apple CarPlay upgrade. Recommended by my mechanic. These guys are AWESOME! Explained in detail my options for upgrading my stereo system. Once educated I did some comparison shopping. These guys were priced fair but I honestly came back for the exceptional customer experience. They didn’t let me down, the experience was excellent from start to finish. Highly recommend!
Kevin was great, very commutative, efficient, and compliant. They demonstrated initiative toward creating decisions that would better the sound in my car such as locations of mounting amp and sub. Easy to say Im more than happy with my service overall.
If I could put a zero i would this place is incapable of doing honest business and work.
Great Customer Service! Quality products and professional technicians.I had them install a JL 12 SubWoofer & Amp in my Ford F150 today! Sounds Great & Installation is clean. I will definitely go back for more stereo upgrades in the near future. Also the waiting area was pretty chill and the owner was entertaining.
Great prices, knowledgeable staff, did a great sub and amp install. Very satisfied customer. Thank you! Recommended. Will go back for sure
I took my car at this place few months ago (Honda si 2014) they wanted to charge me 200$ for labor of 2hours cus they have to take my bumper out to install the new light.I left and search on youtube and found out i can change my light using my hands by moving away the batterry. If you dont know anything about cars search online to do it yourself first.THESE GUYS ARE SCAMMERS i almost paid 200$+ to fix my light when i can just search it online and do it myself.
Man these guys are awesome! Brought my jeep in to get halo lights installed and despite spending an hour on the lights to get them to work, it turns out my lights were bad! They didn’t charge me for the labor since the lights were bad so I have to leave them a 5 star review for the honesty and great customer service.I will be back once my new lights come in! And I’ll be back to get my light bar installed. 10/10 would recommend.
Leaving a review after living with the setup they did for me and getting it redone 1 year later at a different place. I had a monoblock amp added to my existing system and was told they would run a new power wire to it. Instead, they tapped into the existing power wire with a distribution block. Asked why they didnt run the new line. I was told oh thats fine for the power. Lived with it for a year, knowing something wasnt adding up.Today I went to a different shop. Same sub, new amp, with its own power line...huge difference. Minus 2 stars for not doing what they said they would. Do it nice or do it twice. Im out another few hundred bucks
Went to buy speakers for my car. Literally stood there for 10 mins worker in the front didnt acknowledge me or my wife. Not a hey I be with you in minute. As we are walking out a guy in the bay comes out and say ill be with you in a min. Heard it and kept walking he seen us when we first walked in. Poor customer service.
They did an amazing job! Everyone that works there is super helpful! Definitely will be back
Finally, a real car audio shop in SD!! Did a system for my fiance, I love the audio scene but am a little long in my days to be up under dashboards so I had a shop install it, they screwed it up bad, took it to a second shop, they made it even worse. Cost me way more chasing demons, finally got it to San Diego Car Audio. These guys are the best. Charged me right, top quality work and no corners cut. This is my car audio home in SD now, no contest. Thanks so much for being top of your field and doing it right!
Really have nothing good to say about my experience..I wanted an inexpensive Bluetooth put in my 2003 BMW, so I wasn’t expecting world class equipment, but to end up with a “hands-free” system that requires me to physically pick up my phone and press four buttons on it to answer a call doesn’t seem like 500 bucks worth to me!I’ve had decent systems put in other cars for literally half the price at other places. The price kept going up from the original 300 dollar quote and I ended up with a lousy system which works poorly.Avoid these guys.
I have had quite a few custom installations jobs with San Diego Car Stereo and each and every one of them have resulted in such a professional looking job that it looked as though it was a factory installed item. However, this last visit totally blew me away with how this custom installation presented itself. The installation guys that they employ can only be described as true artist at what they do. They continue to impress me on their artistry in how their work looks as though it came from the factory itself. This visit had quite a few modifications to my car but the one mod I was most concerned about was a after market Led footwell Sill Plate which came out amazing!! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised but I really was! Thanks again San Diego Car Stereo you simply are the very best.
Excellent 👍 Professional Service 👍Went in n with a 400 dollar budget. Started looking around and asking questions with no pressure I spent around a thousand. Mainly because instead of going to the dealership for new key fob I bought Viper keyless entry with alarm for cheaper with two remotes instead of one. I spent about 4 hours banging my head under the dash looking for a switch. Sometimes its best to leave it to the professionals. With a teenager driving now he has the tools to be safer with a true hands free system and back up camera. Be advised its an audio candy store. Highly recommend.
Great place for all kinds of car accessories. The people there work really hard to make sure all their customers love the products they receive and always install everything very professionally with care. We recommend this place to all our friends and you should too
Service was great. Products were great too. Prices are high.
Great place. Went in to get tinted windows on my Lexus. . Great job really professional. Maybe I will install other things there. I have asked about a back up camera and they recommended a good set camera/mirror. I still have not made my mind, but maybe I will upgrade the while radio system...I will be back... Thank you
DON’T TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR VEHICLE!!!! Extremely disappointed with the work and service at this establishment!! I brought in my classic Mercedes Benz to have the dash replaced and instead I was left with damage done to the ignition switch, air vents, and cracks to my ORIGINAL genuine dash that I brought in for them to install! Over $10,000 of damage were done to my vehicle. They were uncooperative in resolving this so I took action and took them to small claims court where the judge sided with my case and awarded me money for the damages — it has been over 3 months and they HAVE NOT PAID! The owner is still uncooperative and I am preparing to take my next step. BE WARNED!!! Like everyone, I did my research and read positive reviews — took my car in and they assured me they would be able to do the work promptly. I want to warn everyone of their lack of experience and care with peoples vehicles!! I will continue to take action until this is resolved.
The Staff was professional. They took their time. Jr was great! Eric’s work speaks for itself.
Seem a little on slow side. Ordered a device that took a WEEK to be delivered. Installation quoted as 1-2 hours but took six, and that was with an appointment. But selection is great and knowledgeable friendly staff also great.
Cannot recommend San Diego Car Stereo enough. When they were out of a speaker set that we agreed upon the week before, they let me have the next one up for the same price. They were courteous and knowledgeable through the entire process, not pushy like a few other places I checked out. Kind of have a family business feel. Just a nice, honest group of guys. So there ya go, if you need stereo service:)
Iv Been thinking about getting a new head unit for my car about 2months now. After shopping around I walked into San Diego stereo and met Kevin. I took about an hour FaceTime, to Ask questions and make up my mind. Kevin answered every single question and was patient. Robert the technician even hooked me up and ran my USB through my center console. They also had the best Price after all my online research.
Excellent! Knowledgeable technicians, far prices, outstanding customer service. Highly recommended.
These guys are the best. Even after i had a radio/camera/tinting job done...and needed other non-warranty checking, they obliged. Without a word of negativity. Despite the name of the store..they also do running boards and other accessory fittings. Every worker there is polite and very helpful.
Had my trucks rear-view camera repaired yesterday. After leaving, I discovered that the mounting mechanism between the camera and license plate was done incorrectly, so I took my truck in again. Kevin and his technicians fixed it up immediately, no questions asked.Yes the camera works great, but even better was SD Car Stereos professionalism. While some shops may have pretended that the mounting problem was not their responsibility, SD Car Stereo owned up to their own small mistake and set things right. I appreciate that extra effort, and will be returning to them again with any future stereo, camera or other custom electronics issues. Thanks guys!
I had a system installed several years ago by SAN DIEGO STEREO and needed an update. I talked to Kevin about my concerns and desires for a better sound system so he hooked me up! Not only did he give me an upgrade beyond my price budget, while the door was opened up they discovered a bunch of disconnected wires to my broken window assembly and reattached them fixing my broken window of 3 years! I haven’t been able to fix it due to the exorbitant prices the dealer charges.Thank you Kevin from San Diego Stereo😀. You guys will always have my business. BTW- the new sound is out of this world! Thanks again!
First time in a long time putting a system in my car and the team was helpful, informative, not overly pushy and helped me understand exactly what would fit what I was looking for. Definitely recommend these guys. Flexible and efficient.
Generally speaking I never find my way to the review section, but this time I had to. I had some tints done, back up cam, head unit, and subs installed. I am beyond impressed with the results. It’s clean, quality, professional work. My system sounds amazing. They even worked with me on the price doing everything together. I highly recommend San Diego Car Stero. It truly is worth every penny.
Have taken my vehicles in for installation of higher end car stereos in the past and have been ok. Tried to save some $ and install a Pioneer unit myself. Purchased mounting bracket from San Diego Car Stereo and had researched the model needed. Owner looked up my vehicle and suggested a different model. Spends days trying to get unit to fit and it would not. Went back and was told I made mistakes breaking off parts not needed for my vehicle. I asked for original model I had researched and was only offered installation by his people for more $. Will not go back to San Diego Car Stereo
700$ to reinstall my system in my F150..claimed that it took 8 hours to install when i seen my truck just sitting for hours charged 85$ an hour for labor...rip off...there are several better shopes in SD...do not recommend....I will not be a repeat customer.
San Diego Car Stereo (and Eddie) are AMAZING!! If there were more than 5 stars, I would give them. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. They added a new stereo and DVD player to our GMC Acadia and a sound system plus DVD headrests to our Mazda 6 and did an AMAZING job!!
Absolutely amazing. Completely blew all of my expectations out of the water. Came in to get a new head-unit and the guy worked with me on upgrading and tuning my already good aftermarket system. I thought it would make a little bit of a difference, but the before and after was a monumental difference. When I originally upgraded my stock sound system a few years back, it made a huge improvement. But what these guys did at San Diego Car Stereo is completely next level. Since having them work on my system, Ive had numerous epiphanies of ahah, so THATS how this song should sound. These guys know what theyre doing, and its worth every last penny.
I wanted a Bluetooth radio for my wifes car that was easy to useThey guys recommended an Alpine unit that was $200 installed. We have it set for auto-answer after 2 rings..The buttons on the unit are easy to see and the audio quality is terrific.Bottom line she couldnt be happierIn fact Im getting another one for our other car.
They blew me off. Didnt want to fix my stereo. I would not go back.
These guys did a really good job installing the stereo in my 2005 ML500. They had it ready within 24 hours, and everything worked perfectly. Two amps, bose amp bypass, head unit and sub.
Our company is trying them out to install GPS pucks and drive cameras on our fleet vehicles. So far so good. Convenient location right on Convoy.
What great service and wonderful customer service. Eddie and his team, Zach, Reever and all of the service techs, were helpful, courteous and accommodating. Not just to me but to everyone who entered their storefront, the three times I was there. If you want quality product and work, you have found the right place! Thank you Team San-Diego-Car-Stereo!!!
Nice store...They fix your stereo system with next to no noise at all. Customers are usually happy when they leave. Good customer service.
Russ was very helpful and gave us a quote which was honored when we finally decided to take our vehicle in. The install was done in a timely manner. The sound and install were absolutely clean, zero complaints! Weve decided to take our second vehicle in ... THANK YOU!
I have no idea how these guys would do on serivces and quality of work because they charge beyond way too much. So if your interested in over spending then go here. Otherwise look elsewhere!
Ive been in several times for non-standard tasks like installing day-time driving lights and replacing back-up sensors. There seems to be no task the team there cant help with. Im a happy repeat customers.I read an earlier review about not getting someone to talk with you. They arent a high pressure shop. If you need something, take action. Go talk to them.
Avoid this place. It took all day for them to install a faulty alarm.
Stopped in to get a high end stereo installed into my vehicle on my way home to Tahoe driving from San Diego as the city has more options. The installation took a bit longer than anticipated, but I wanted to side with getting it done correctly so agreed to grab a hotel and give them the additional time required. I noticed before I left the first evening that the very speakers I chose in their display room, focals, had been taken out of their display case. When I asked the salesman, Ronnie, about that, he said they pulled them to utilize as templates for my install and I would be getting brand new focal speakers being delivered in the morning. By the next afternoon I went back to the store around the time the install was getting completed. I was getting a little anxious as I had an important meeting I couldn’t miss about 5 hours north. They walked me through the newly installed system. I noted the showroom sample speakers were still not reinstalled in their display case and no speakers were laying around on work benches so asked the question, “did you install the showroom floor used speakers in my vehicle?” The answer was yes. They offered to reinstall the new ones when they could see I was upset, but I could delay no longer as I had an important meeting over 5 hours away. No pricing amends were made either. After paying a little over $6K for a high end system and speakers and instead getting used floor model speakers w/o my prior permission and consent, I would never recommend these guys for another thing. I was in between a rock and a hard place, so took the installed system as is. Mad. Second note, front door locks no longer work either... FML. I’ll get professional team to check it out up north. Bottom line. Don’t give them business, if you do, buyer beware.
Great service tons of options experienced staff I came in from Nevada and needed the work done in one day they accommodated me and did a excellent job I just wish I could give them more stars but 5 is all google will allow
Under new management... not the great place anymore. This place was great but now its under new management and they are smart hustlers running it now.I had a fuse go out on my sound system. I went in so they could change it. I asked them to look at the fuse first. They initially said the fuse was ok. But needed to diagnose it to figure out why it wasnt working.. They said my system was broken and had 2 alternatives. A $500 and a $1000 new system. After looking at it. they said my system worked now because of the fuse was changed and wanted a $80 diagnosis fee. No diagnosis fee was needed. I told them the fuse needed to be replaced in the beginningThey lied. They hustled hard for me to buy a new system. And they charged $80 for a simple fuse.Plus they rigged my system to fail soon by maxing out my amp settings. Perhaps they thought if my system accidently failed, I would then need to buy a new system from them. The old owner retired and the place isnt the same anymore. If you like to see aggressive sales pitches and deception..then this is your place.Anyplace is better than this place for me.
Great service, good prices, the installers did a clean and tidy job. I recommend this place to people who want clean and squeak/rattle-free installation in their vehicles.DS
Will not print quote so you cant compare prices.
Excellent service from these guys and reasonable labor rate. Been going here for years and will continue to.
Great service fast service good selection. Very nice people working there and they really do great work.
They did some upgrades to one of our 2017 Ford Raptor took longer than quoted to get the work done but did great work and never went over quoted price, I would go back
Quick and experienced staff fixed my issues on the spot. Would highly recommend.
They did great work on my truck. Top notch.
Great work, get me in and out, have worked on my boat, rv, cars and after 4 years the stereo in my RV is not working so they are looking into it for free! Will likely always go back to them!!
SUPER EXPENSIVE! Stopped doing buisness 15 years ago because very expensive. Looked for 2 parts at other places and couldnt find them. So I figured I would try them again. Same thing, $70 for 2 pieces I could order online SHIPPED for $25. I dont mind paying some extra for not waiting, but almost triple the price. NEVER AGAIN!
Very reasonable prices with great service!!
Best customer service everAnd they know what they’re doing
They made my 2010 look and sound like the 2018 version of my car. Amazing service and follow up!!!
Easy going staff..point you in right direction
I had been here before and didnt have a problem so when I needed a car alarm for my wifes car I came in to get a price quote. The younger fellow that was in there came over to assist me. I asked him what the cheapest car alarm for my car would be, and he asked what kind of car i had. I told him that it is a 97 jaguar. He said that he would have to go ask the person behind the desk in the back what the labor was supposed to be on it. He then goes to talk to the lady behind the desk and i then hear her say the cheapest!!??? the guy drives a jag and hes worried about the cheapest!!?? were not really gonna put the cheapest one on there are we!? I immediately told the guy from across the room not to worry about it. The girl behind the desk turned ghost white. You could tell that she didnt know that i was the customer asking about the Jag. For one, this lady doesnt know my story. She doesnt know my financial situation. Either way, that was about as unprofessional as you could be. Second, its a 97 xj6....its not like its a super car. The stock key fob just went out and they cost just as much as putting in a car alarm, except with the car alarm you can get remote start. Anyway, I will never again take my business here. Completely unprofessional and completely unpolite.
Unlike many of the people writing reviews about how they were ignored in the store blah blah blah, Ive actually had several car stereo / amp / speakers / sub installs with these guys. Some of the work was actually quite complex, (like trying to bridge into the newer BMW fiber systems to improve the stereo without replacing the stock deck and nav) but theyve come through for me each time. They do a fantastic job and they do it right, and youre working with the knowledgable owner on the config rather than some salesperson trying to get you to buy stuff. Thus far, Im extremely satisfied with the level of service AND quality of installs that SD Car Stereo has done for me. Thanks Stan!
Awesome service even better detailed work
I bought and had these guys install my sons stereo (christmas present) 2 years ago and had them install a subwoofer this Christmas and they did an outstanding job. Stan is who helped me and I believe he is the owner.
Had dash cam installed. Professional job.
I have a 2014 Honda Civic EX and wanted a Sirius/XM radio installed. However, this model Honda has a touch screen interface for its factory installed AM/FM radio that I thought would have to be replaced with a new radio with Sirius/XM capability. When I brought the car into San Diego Car Stereo they told me they would be able to add Sirius/XM capability to my existing radio and it would interface with the existing touch screen. This would be accomplished by using the USB interface of the existing Radio. This USB interface would be dedicated for the Sirius/XM radio and because I had never used the USB interface I did not mind losing that port. I had not anticipated this and was overjoyed to hear I could use my existing touch screen with the added satellite radio. We set up an appointment and 30 minutes after I picked up my car and called Sirius to activate my radio I was enjoying listening to Sirius/XM radio. The sound was crystal clear. The existing touch screen interface worked perfectly. It was as if the car came with Sirius/XM installed. San Diego Car Stereo was very professional from beginning to end explaining everything they were going to do. There were no surprises and I would highly recommend San Diego Car Stereo. A+.
I needed to upgrade the head unit in order to have Bluetooth and XM as well as have the factory speakers replaced. The speakers were almost completely disintegrated from their enclosures and SDCS has a great selection of upgrades. I worked with Terrell, who knew exactly what I was looking for and he made some great recommendations-including adding a sub woofer. I decided that I would wait on the sub and see how it sounded without it. Needless to say, I was back 3 days later to have a sub installed and it really completed the sound balance in a big way. Oh yes, there were a few challenges but most of these were due to the car being older and SDCS offered solutions for every one of them. Terrell took the time to explain everything in a way that I could even understand and made the experience a joy. Thanks to SDCS, Im now rockin down the highway.
Went to this shop to get some Audio work done and the guy at the desk first ignored me for about 5 minutes,I ussually go to La Jolla Audio but I thought I would give these guys a try, Wow these guys are expensive and very arrogant, the guy was talking to me like I have never put stereo system in my cars before,Ive had alote of work done by different shops over the years but let me tell you, these guys think they could get my money and run, forget about it,the prices where double the prices I checked on the internet, advise, next time a customer comes to your shop, dont be quik to judge a book by its cover,Im taking my business elswhere, customer service and prices sucks at San Diego Stereo,I will Not be returning to do business with these guys,
They are a great place....
Took the whole day just to rewire speakers, heavy sales pitch but the end result is that it works.
I only browsed however, the place looked like it had some class.
Great service.
Great knowledge, expert installation
