Wow! I can’t say enough how much I love MNGO Cafe desserts. My favorite sago drink place in the Bay Area closed, so I searched for one closer to home and found only MNGO in San Diego. I started out dropping in for mango sago drinks, but a couple visits ago discovered their Japanese snow ice, kakigori. It looked so beautiful in a picture I sent that friends have requested special outings to go there. Often there’s only one employee, so if it’s busy they get swamped, but the desserts are worth the wait!
If you love mango, this is your place. I’m a mango lover in all things mango and on top of it, sago lover! Their dessert mango sago was delicious. I love the coconut milk in it with sago and mango, it was so good. I will come back for dessert anytime I’m in the area. Their drinks were also very delicious.
I’ve driven by this place so many times and finally got to try it today with my best friend. The menu has lots of options for every kind of sweet tooth. We ordered Golden Brown Original Milk (with boba and sea salt cream) and Peach Mango Fruit Tea. The latter was slightly tart but got sweeter after stirring the boba around. Prices are pretty standard ($6+ for a large drink with toppings). The cafe itself is clean and very spacious which allows for ample distance between tables- plus there’s a hand sanitizing station by the bar. The highlight was the mango tree in the center of the café which gave it a unique vibe and look. I’d love to try the dessert options next time!
This is a mango lovers dream!!! The drinks I had are called the coco mango drink with mango pudding and it had the best sweet and somewhat tart but a good tart and the crepe mango is *chefs kiss* the syrup was so thick and really complemented the all around sweetness of the crepe ❤🍰 i am so coming back!
Always a great experience. Their shaved ice is a far departure from the classic snow cones of days past. Come here if youre looking for fresh and filling treats, with real fruit and a bang for your buck
Always love going to this place for mango flavored drinks. Inside is a cool mango tree to chill under and around. I highly recommend coming here.
MNGO café is a dessert shop in San Diego. We visited this place on May 23, 2018, during our first San Diego trip. It’s a well-decorated dessert shop. The place was crowded when we got there. We ordered MNGO and Rice and Mango Smoothie. Mango Smoothie was good but MNGO and Rice was average. The price was a bit high and their service was okay.
This place is absurdly, ridiculously adorable. And their deserts are really tasty. I was bummed that they were out of the mango creme brulee as that was the main dessert I wanted to try when I went, but its an excuse to go back. I got the Mango sticky rice instead and a fruit tea!
Loved the mango theme desserts very yummy as well their drinks. The decor is simply beautiful.Good place to have dessert and chill.Highly recommend.Staff is really friendly.
Both the decor and the dishes are visually pleasing (and Insta-perfect). This is a perfect hangout place for dessert. We ordered the mango snow ice and the brulee sticky rice. I enjoyed both dishes. My only complaint would be that the aesthetics of the dishes definitely trumps the practicality of the plating. What that means is, it was quite difficult eating the gorgeous dishes. For example, we struggled to contain the mountain of snow ice on the bowl as we scooped, and we could not easily eat the mango slices from the sticky rice since they were not cut into pieces or de-skinned. Either way, I would come back to taste the other items. I recommend trying this place for the experience since you rarely see a place like this in San Diego. You will have to be the judge of whether your taste buds will like this style of desserts.
Its about my mistake . I thought Icesnow is a mango cake. But good decor and variety of choice.Very busy place late at night! Great decor and fun atmosphere. Could be a little cleaner at the tables but could be just because theyre so busy. Thought the Japanese Shaved Ice would be tastier. Not sure what authentic Japanese Shaved Ice tastes like but would prefer them using fresh fruit and the ice to have much more mango flavor it. We were all a bit underwhelmed with it
This place was awesome, not to sweet its just right, im about 45 minutes away from this place and drove down here just to try it. Definitely coming back.
The onslaught of mango came into view upon entering the cafe. As we waited for our food, we listened to the noisy chatter sitting around us. The cafe was big with a huge makeshift mango tree centerpiece settled in the middle of the dining area. The real star of the cafe was their food. We were served with a plate of mango delicacies, fresh mango, sticky rice, mango pudding, and mango ice cream. The mixture of warm sticky rice with the ice cream was ambrosia in my mouth.#LetsGuide #MNGODessert #SanDiegoGuide #SDEats #SanDiegoEats
My wife and I love this place. Everything weve tried has been amazing. Best unique desserts in San Diego.
Never heard of the place, but our daughter suggested it. Showed up about 20 minutes before closing time. Would have been a 5 star, but they forgot to add an item to the order and it was for the grandkids, so made me upset the kids had to wait. Then, we enjoyed the food so much, we wanted a few things to go. I waited at the register for nearly 5 minutes before someone came to me and when I asked for the order, he said they had made last call already. I get it, they need to stop to leave at a decent time, but I never heard them call it. Overall, food, great! Service, rushed a little but not so bad. Will go back again earlier next time.
Their mango coconut cream smoothie is so good. I have had their regular mango smoothie before and it was good but not as good as this one. I dont tend to usually like coconut or creamy mango drinks but this was great and you dont taste the coconut much at all. The combination of the fresh mango blend and the coconut cream is amazing. The parking lot though can be tough during normal busy Convoy hours but is no different than all of the other places around Convoy. Try going when they first open and you wont have trouble finding a spot (on weekdays anyway).
Very cute place and the theme relates all to mango. Every corner is instagrammable. Food dessert is amazing. There is a little wait at the time I went. They were swamped with orders only have 2 people on the floor
Pretty good place, quite hip and stylish on theinterior. When I went the shave ice machine was broken and the wait time was over 30 minutes for it. I did go during peak hours so the tables were slightly dirty because no one was there to wash it. However it was a good place if you like mangos. They also have wireless chargers and a ton of usb docks to charge your phone
Excellent establishment great ice cream pretty good customer service....
Great Japanese style shaved ice.
Kakigori is thee best here, it is like eating flavored snow. The mango is amazing and the OMG is a trio of three really yummy goodies like sweet rice, pudding and a slice mango. The drinks have all been really great, I have had their green tea but really the mango flavors are the best. Parking can be a little tricky at times but I have always gotten a spot.
Get the mango kakigori and your tastebuds will be sent to heaven while your poor soul is whining for not being able ascend like your tastebuds just did.But wait. Whats happening? Slowly, and I mean slowly. The ascension spreads from your tastebuds to your throat, stomach, legs, toes. Your entire body quivers in the godly aura that has taken over your soul, up until the very last bite, with each one being a surprise of texture and flavor. Then, you slowly reenter the bleak setting of your drab and boring life, crying at the fact that you have work or school the next day. But at least a tasted a piece of heaven and know when to come back, eh?
Our favorite dessert spot! Everything weve tried so far is amazing. Parking is a little difficult but just wait a bit and someone will eventually leave. As much as possible, do not leave any valuables visible inside your car as we did have our car broken into while we were inside the cafe.
Delicious shaved ice and desserts.
Crowded but the ice was great. Very busy shop
Absolutely one of my favorite dessert places. I have to come here every time I’m in San Diego. I usually get their kakigori, I love how soft and fluffy the shaved ice feel. The mango flavor is my favorite but ube is a close second! I would also recommend their OMG, which is their mango sticky rice severed with ice cream and mango pudding, and their mango coconut creme smoothie.
Their mango and leche smoothie was amazing, I highly recommend it. I wasnt as impressed with the shaved ice. It was a neat experience, but tastewise it didnt wow me. I thought the shaved ice was rather bland until you mixed in the additional mango syrup.
First time, treats were super delicious.
MNGO cafe elevates your typical asian desserts in a fun and spacious atmosphere. For dessert, my cousins and I shared an order of the OMG which consists of mango sticky rice, mango pudding, and ice cream (we opted for the mango flavor on this). The presentation of this dessert (and so many others) was amazing! The plating is reminiscent of an upscale restaurant, even though youre at a low key dessert spot. I didnt find any of the 3 items in our dessert to be overly impressive, however. The mango sticky rice was pretty standard. Both the pudding and ice cream tasted on the artificial side to me, perhaps because it could be compared to the real mango on our wooden platter. The pudding was also on the gelatinous side, so I felt like the recipe could have been tweaked to add a touch more creaminess. Im not sure what brand they use for their ice cream or if they make it in house, but Ive definitely had better. Overall, I did enjoy the dessert and the price is fair given the quality and variety of items you get to sample in this dessert. The Mango Coconut Cream smoothie was really good. I liked the mango flavor in this drink and the smoothness of the coconut cream. I also enjoyed the texture of the smoothie since its really thick and not runny/icy like how some fruit smoothies can be. I didnt detect much of a coconut flavor in the smoothie, but coconut can be overpowering and I much prefer mango flavors anyway! We got really lucky because there wasnt much of a line when we got there, but the line quickly got very long as we were waiting for our dessert! Their ordering system is really efficient since theyll give you a buzzer after you order, and you can pick any table you want. Our table was a little bit sticky, but thats my only complaint. I really liked the layout of this shop because its so spacious and comfortable to hang out in. There are plenty of tables, but they are spread out so it doesnt feel claustrophobic or cramped. The decor is A+++ and gives this place a hip/trendy vibe, and nothing feels overdone. I cant wait to be back the next time Im in town to give some of their other desserts a try.
Got the OMG and Mango smoothie. Everything was so flavorful!
Great unique dessert spot with superb customer service.
Taro dessert is sooo good as well as the mango sticky rice. In heaven.
Dee & Licious! If you want a unique dessert, this is the place. The ice cream & sweet rice are a great combo & of course the MANGO! It is a HIT!
Delicious desserts for mango fans !
Mango shake is missing Mango, made of artificial flavor.
Our daughter took us here for a family style dessert, great time and unique sweet treats!
I love mngo, they have the best coconut based desserts. Most of the desserts are customizable too so feel free to try all their delicious add ons.
Had the mango snowice So good!! They also have charging stations.
Delicious and unique dessert. Nice relaxing atmosphere.
I love this place the mngo cafe is the best they use real fresh and sweet mangos and they can make really delicious and beautiful stuff with it if you are a mango fan i highly recommend that you check this place out
That caramelized sugar on top on the mango is genius. If I was a stoner Id call this place home.
One of the best coffee experiences in the area.I recommend the matcha thai tea, mango ice cream, and house coffee.
Popular place with great desserts. They May run out of sticky rice or other things on busy nights a little before closing. About 15-30 minutes before closing they will switch to drink only orders so get in early! It is worth it!
High quality desserts and drinks woth fresh fruit!
Good quality desserts but you better like mango.
Really good shaved ice and Nitro cold brew
Everything is mango flavored and thats my favorite. Parking is a hassle to find, but its worth it once you make it in. Definitely the place to share a light dessert after a meal.
Really good, pricy but good
OMG!!! You just have to try their mango snow!
Nice lil place with plenty of mango desserts along with other things such as coffee and smoothies, place can get pretty crowded and parking can suck but the desserts are very delicious!
Though, I have waited it for more than 30 minutes, taste is good.
Nice aesthetic, but not enough seating for how busy it gets. It was around 8/9 on a Tuesday and the line was almost to the door. Although there were stools and bar seating a lot of people only seemed to sit there to wait for people to leave the actual tables. The white cream iced coffee I got was really good.
Good so far, fresh mango, and their smoothies and black egg waffle
Fast and super yummy! Ordered the mango sundae with sticky rice 😍👌
Had the OMG and mango with sticky rice. Delicious
MNGO makes wonderful desserts. We have been desiring to try this treat, but always end up being to full after dinner in one of our favorite restaurant at this area. Last nifht we tried five different desserts. They were all good. I was thinking that after eating at Monster Ice in Teipei Taiwan, MNGO would not be as good. I was wrong. MNGOs flavored ice was just as good, and I dont even have to fly to Taiwan. So, try this treat and you will come back again and again. I know I will.
This place was so amazing! We got the matcha kakigori, and it was better than any shave ice Ive ever had. I strongly recommend it! My main trouble was parking and the wait time (took ~1 hour to get our kakigori). They warned us of the long wait time, so it was all good, but just something to beware of
Love the mongo idea for the dessert. Who doesnt like mango? Still need to try the mango shaved ice, but overall the mongo drink and the sago was great. Not enough table when it is busy.
I absolutely love this place!! You cant find mango sticky rice really easy in San Diego, so findingthis place was findingthe light and the end of the tunnel. Each choice is amazing. I just tried the mango shaved ice... life changing. They are pricey and take a while but very much worth it.
So delicious!! I definitely recommend the mango kakigori. I got fruit tea and was disappointed that it was very pulp-y but it was still tasty
Love the variety of dessert here and the place is nice loving it so much.
This is a popular and busy place on Convoy St. There was around a 10 minutes line to order on a Saturday evening. Around another 15 minutes for the food to arrive.Ordered the Mngo Sago and the Tiramisu Kakigori. Unbelievably, the two dessert dishes are almost enough for an entire meal for two.The Mngo Sago is a type of sago pudding made with coconut milk, sliced mango pieces, and choice of mango/coconut/vanilla ice cream on top. Dont go for the coconut ice cream option as it wasnt even sweet. The pudding had a lot of mango pieces though and the preparation was quite rich. The Kakigori is a unique dish with layers of ingredients. Its a treasure hunt trying to find all of the ingredients inside. Most of it was covered with coffee flavored ice flakes, with whipped cream on the top. Underneath, there are layers of what seemed to be mascarpone, ice cream and pudding. Its served with sweet condensed milk on the side. The bitter taste of coffee combined with the different shades of sweet and cream cheese is quite appealing. And navigating through the layers is a treat in itself. Definitely a must try item on the menu.
Soooo good! The best food and the mangoes were super fresh! Service was great, clean, lots of seating. Cool atmosphere!
This place is my new favorite dessert place. Everything Ive had here has been amazing! My go to is the Mango Kakigori which is basically mango shaved ice but it gets better the closer you get to the center. The OMG is also a very good option, and the cheesecake is also decent.Just watch out during the weekends cause it does get busy and a lot of students stay here to study. One time we had to share a table with someone cause of how busy it was. Overall cant recommend this place enough!
Exquisite deserts.. if you love mangos, you have to try it..
Favorite item on the menu is the strawberry matcha latte!
Lovely place for group hangout. Decent dessert but I dont know if Ill be back.
