I have a new favorite ice cream spot! A lot of people recommended Handel’s. I also notice there’s always long line for this ice cream shop. So I have to give it a try. There’re soooooo many ice cream flavors and it’s pretty hard to make a decision. I randomly chose one - Monkey’s business. I asked staff how is the flavor and he explained it very detailed, bananas with caramel and brownies. The ice cream came out much bigger than I thought, but it’s super delicious and I definitely didn’t waste any. I just look forward to coming back for other flavors, which I believe will be delicious as well.

Homemade Ice Cream! Need I say anymore? Yes there was a line, yes it was worth the wait! The chocolate was over the top good. The chocolate malted (with Caramel), fantastic. Drooling yet? Get there, get some!!

Reeeeeeally really good! I went about 6:30PM and there wasnt a line. I got a single scoop cotton candy in a waffle cone, I was gonna get a double scoop but luckily the gal at the counter told me that they fill the whole cone with ice cream so a double scoop ends up being more like four scoops! Which would have been waaaay too much ice cream so I appreciated the warning🤣🙌🏻

Best hand made ice cream ever! After hiking the cliffs on the coast line, this treat hit the spot. With so many flavors, I couldn’t decide so they made a sample pack for me with watermelon ice, lime sherbet, blackberry something and orange cream sickle. Wow! My wife tried the banana cream pie, cinnamon roll, Oreo, and dark chocolate. Awesome ice cream. Sorry no photo, we ate it too fast!

This place live up to the hype! My favorite from the sampler is Coffee Chocolate Chip. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies is a close second. I prefer Handels favors and level of sweetness over the other nearby ice cream place. 🍦

Handels has a large selection, gives huge scoops, and isnt as expensive as the competition. A single scoop is more like a double and a double is falling over! The chocolate PB brownie was perfect mix of everything and I highly recommend. 😋

I really wanted to order a birthday cake from Handels and my dream finally came true. I am ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE with how my cake turned out. When I called to place my cake order the lady who answered was so friendly and helpful in bringing my ideas into cake-form. I love Handels ice cream! They have a ton of unique homemade flavors and their ice cream is always soft and smooth. They are very generous on the servings. If you cant decide on a flavor I suggest getting the 4 scoop sampler. My favorite go to flavor is SMores but Ive tried a bunch of their other flavors and theyre all good.

Really great ice cream, but could do better on staffing. Lines often are ridiculously long and you have to wait because they’re not adequately staffed; there is usually 1-3 people behind the counter, usually not wearing gloves.It probably takes them like a solid 1-2 minutes tops to scoop your ice cream.

No outing to Del Mar is complete without a trip to Handels! I really appreciate the family friendly atmosphere and the upbeat attitude of the employees. The ice cream is absolutely delicious and you also get a lot of it!I would highly recommend the blue monster, banana cream pie and mint Oreo! I had tried basically every flavor here and there isnt a single one I wouldnt be down to have a whole scoop of. Some people dont know that Handels serves more than just ice cream–they have milkshakes, chocolate covered bananas, lemonade, ice cream sandwiches and more! Personally, I love the four scoop sampler and the dipped waffle cones with sprinkles.Ive actually spoken to the manager and owners on separate occasions and they are really kind and in touch with their employees and community! Overall, such a big fan of Handels!

It’s cool the ice cream was homemade. The line was long but did move fast. I love the atmosphere around the shop, but this is not the best ice we have ever had. We got monkey business, heavenly hash, cookie dough and oree dough. The boys loved their oree dough and cookie dough but the other two were ok. It was not the banana homemade ice cream I was expecting.

Excellent flavors and helpful staff! Two of us shared the four-scoop sampler, plenty of ice cream for the price. The buckeye and smores were our top two. The oree dough was good but not as exciting a combination, and the black raspberry was more of a sherbet but great taste. Will definitely come back to try other flavors and perhaps give the hurricane a go!

Handles is a great place to have ice cream on a hot day. Its just a quick line with nice employees with many flavors. Including vegan options but no many (like two). But, overall is a very fun place to eat ice cream!

A single scoop is already huge and can be shared with 2-3 people. The pistachio flavor was not what I expected, the icecream itself does not have too strong of the pistachio taste.The vanilla caramel brownie is quite sweet.

Heard good things about this place so had to try it. To be honest the flavor was nothing extraordinary compared to other places but the scoop sizes was enormous. I got 2 scoops and they have a mini extra scoop on top as well.

Order the Graham Central Station at this location and you’ll be glad you did! I’ve been to other Handel’s in San Marcos and Encinitas but this particular location is more generous with the fillings - chocolate-covered honey combs and Graham cracker ripple 🤤I usually just place my order online to avoid the long lines. Highly recommended!

Wanted ice cream but the usual suspects were not open yet. Saw this was open and it was amazing. Rich and creamy and good amounts for reasonable prices. And so many flavors to choose from! Will be going back soon.

Best Ice-cream in Del Mar and Carmel Valley, Lot of flavours, Good Quality and Quantity. Not very costly also.Go for a Shopping in Jimbo and have a ice-cream right outside.

Very long wait time for just ice cream. The menu is hard to read, which furthers the problem. It frustrates the customers as well the employees you can tell.. They are out of things by the afternoon. Some of the staff arent knowledgeable about what they are selling. Quality is there. Customer service is not. ORDER AHEAD. Seems to be full of tourists for some reason. Its near a shopping district. Everyone and their grandma 👵GOES HERE! STAY AWAY! (unless you ordered online then its all good 😎).

Their icecreams are freshly made, not too sweet, not too dense which makes us go back again and again. Love all their flavors. Our favorites are pistachio, coffee chocolate chip and blue monster 😋 we are regulars here!

Large on quantity but not on quality. Ordered mud pie. Which is basically coffee ice cream. All I could taste was chocolate syrup with some Oreos cookies. Too sweet also.

Worth the long lines and I hate standing in line. There is a distinct quality to this ice cream. Truly an old fashioned recipe and super creamy. One scoop is huge and enough for two people (after theyve had dinner ha). Best of all they are opened until 10!

Ive placed three different orders with Handels Del Mar (delivered via DoorDash no problem) and two orders had big problems. The second order was missing the two Hurricanes. Big Ooops. Mistakes happen. DoorDash refunded for the two missing items. Then....the third order placed on 8/15 again had two Hurricanes (plus 8 pints). We placed all of it in the freezer and nibbled on the pints over the last 10 days. Last night, I opened the bag that contained my Hurricanes. Hurricanes are supposed to be Vanilla Ice Cream with Mixins (in this case the mixin was chocolate covered strawberry). My two Hurricanes were all Chocolate Ice Cream with no ability to tell what was mixed in!!!! Based on this experience, dont expect accuracy on orders that are delivered to you. Youll need to be in person and catch the mistake at the store. I called the manager today to inform the manager of the two in a row order problems and was told no manager is in the store today. Sigh.

I love Handel’s so much, but tonight the employee decided to make her own rules. We have been eating ice cream at their locations for many years. We always buy pints and quarts and there has never been a problem putting two flavors into one container before. Tonight the employee informed us that this is not an option and claimed that this has never been the case for custom hand packed containers. We would greatly appreciate finding out what the real answer is on this topic-look forward to hearing back!

Wow. Im not sure there are words to describe the amazing combination of absolutely delicious ice cream and incredible customer service. Every time I go, the employees are so nice and helpful and always seem happy to be there. Not to mention they’re all fast! My favorite flavor is the french silk pie and you can never go wrong with the graham central station! Perfect for families, friends, or as a date night activity:)

Horrible experience here, staffs very unprepared not using gloves, they messed up with my order, instead of remaking my order they tried to fix it and gave me a horrible thing that knocked me down and messed me up all over and they still charged me double. The place looks dirty too

This is an amazing ice cream place. Their location is so huge with a wide variety of ice creams. Located not too far from beach. You can get an ice cream drive a couple of miles and enjoy the beach view. Best part is you can get a sampler ice cream which is absolutely awesome. The quantity of sampler is so convenient ( not a lot that you regret, enough to enjoy all 4 flavors). I liked all 8 flavors I had. Ranking them is really difficult.

Good flavor and good tasting ice cream but one major issue (for me at least). I have eaten here 2 times and both times the ice cream caused stomach problems and diarrhea for me. Maybe I should get smaller portions.
