I think their rating has to due with the location because its not the food or service. They have a really poor system in place for dine in customers. Order at the register from the cashier and the waiter gets the order and takes it to you by asking the cashier whos plate it is. They had 3 plates sitting just because they didnt know/remember who ordered what and constantly tried to give people the wrong plate. A guy had to go up and ask about his plate. The poor waiter was sweaty and constantly confused. I never even realized these issues could arise. The food is awful. I was gonna rate while waiting just because of the service but thought to wait since the food had to be the redeeming quality right...no.

If you went to SJSU for any length of time then you should know about Peanuts. they have fed many a Spartan since...forever it seems. i think it is also a graduation requirement to eat here at least 4x a semester. you might want to check the catalogue just in case.it is a small unassuming little hole in the wall with a big reputation. perfect for the college community (students, staff, faculty, etc.) that it caters to. the portion size and prices may have changed over the years but thats understandable. neither will break you or disappoint you.nearly all menu items are available all day but you definitely have to get the teriyaki chicken or beef (with rice and salad or fries). this alone will keep you coming back. a simple and filling meal but oh so good.whats not to like about this place? absolutely nothing except how it like many others have been impacted by C19 but i know that loyal patrons will do their part to make sure that Peanuts is around for as long as possible.

SJSU students have LOVED this place, and the wonderful owner, for more than 30-years. Be one of the tens of thousands of former students who will remember this place fondly by patronizing this establishment today, and tomorrow. The food is fantastic, and a fantastic value. Their breakfast hashbrown potatoes are perfect. I recall watching the owners father, a kind Korean gentleman now passed, make them from carefully boiled potatoes, every morning. They have retained his secrets, which result in the best has brown potatoes youll ever, *ever* have.

Solid breakfast fare at very reasonable prices. The coffee is tasty and the relaxed atmosphere lends itself to conversation and comeraderie with our fellow humans. Order under the menu and pick up your food when they call your number. Fancy? No. Delicious? Yes.(If you need your shrunken, mollycoddled Tech balls lovingly caressed by cowering corporate baristas, this is not the place for you. Do the world a favor and stick to your organic, locally-sourced quinoa enema bar and let the rest of us enjoy an actual meal.)As for me, Ill be back to Peanuts Deluxe Cafe again and again. First rate.

I have been coming here since I was about 6 years old so basically a LONG time... lol. The food is ALWAYS delicious, hot and served fast! The owners are wonderful people always friendly and smiling. Great prices!! When I met my husband 20+ years ago I took him here and told him the same thing.. then we started taking our own children here so they can possibly one day take their children. It’s kinda a family tradition now 😁I love explaining to my kids how I always came here with my mother as a child and the food is exactly the same as back then.Definitely 5 stars!!!Wish I could visit a few times a week but unfortunately we don’t live in San Jose anymore. My next visit were definitely stopping here even to say Hi!!

I thoroughly enjoy visiting Peanuts Cafe for breakfast whenever Im in San Jose. I originally found this place with a Google Search and Im glad I checked it out. Ordering and paying for food was a little different at first, but once you know the routine, its great. Walk up to the order counter, put in your order, and bring your receipt to the cash register. Pay for your food, grab some cutlery, and serve yourself some coffee. The food is prepared fast, and always tastes great. Im a creature of comfort and always get the same thing.. scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. I like how everything is cooked, never had an issue. The bacon is crispy, toast is buttery, and the eggs scrambled to perfection. Its a simple breakfast, but done well. This place seems like a popular hangout for the nearby school, but thankfully its never been crazy busy when Ive been there in the morning. I would guess its a little busier throughout the day. My feeling with this place is if youre looking for a well cooked, cheap breakfast you really need to consider Peanuts Cafe. I havent tried their other menu items, but I love the breakfast. Thanks Peanuts!

Too many places out there are looking for a gimmick and fail to get their fundamentals right. This place is the opposite. It’s a small, unassuming diner with basic ingredients but what they manage to do with them is magic. There was nothing “special” about the bacon, eggs, toast, hashbrowns, pancakes, or coffee. No crazy toppings, no overly complicated preparation, just a plain and simple breakfast. But damn, they knocked it right out of the park. Everything fresh and cooked to perfection. If you’re looking for a good ole fashioned breakfast, this is the place.

Never received my drink, ketchup, or jelly for toast. Im not sure if I was supposed to find it all myself considering you pick up your own food rather than it getting served to you.Side note: In the time it took me to get up to get my food and silverware a guy stole my seat.Would I recommend: No

And SJSU staple! I cant believe I never wrote a review about this place! I use to have lunch as Peanuts quite often when I was going to school here. My usual go to dish was the Philly cheese steak sandwich. It was so much food at such an affordable price. Last month, my BF and I was visiting SUSJ (because he is going back to school!) and I told him about this place so we stopped by for brunch. Its been about 10 years since Ive gone back and everything was still the same, except the prices. However, everything on the menu was still so much affordable compare to other brunch places. My bf order the Philly cheese steak and I got the Western omelet no tomatoes and replaced the ham for sausage with extra crispy hash browns. So when I said everything was still the same 10 years ago, I really meant everything! The sandwich with the exception they use American cheese still tasted just as good and the huge omelet was just how I remembered it. Oh, talk about nostalgia! So you if you are in the area, I highly recommend checking out this place, you wont regret it.

In A Nutshell:-Legend has it that Peanuts Deluxe Cafe has been serving up some of the best breakfast to SJSU students & locals for generations.-In 2019, the prices are still very low, the food is very comforting & of course good.-Its hard to find a large plate full of homemade hashbrowns, a couple eggs cooked the way you like & sausages w/ toast all for under $7.-Its been a family run business & the formula works.-Whenever I come in, I get memories of waking up at my grandparents house w/ the smell of breakfast looming in the background & the TV on blast w/ the latest news, very comforting.Overall, this is a nice place to grab a quick breakfast before you head out to work or class.

Gross. I got the breakfast. The eggs and hash browns were standard but not much flavor. The French toast was greasy and the bread didnt seem fresh. The toast was also stale. Even worse, Im pretty sure they use margarine and they didnt say anything about it. The price was reasonable, and there were some frat guys having beer at 8 a.m., so maybe thats the clientele theyre going for. I would recommend one of the dozen Mexican restaurants in the area instead for an early breakfast.

This WAS one of my favorite places to go dancing on Saturday nights, however.... that changed last night. I had dinner before coming to this establishment and felt sick to my stomach. I asked the bartender to make me a drink with bitters in it to calm my stomach. I walked outside to get some fresh air and left my shoes inside. When I tried to go back inside the bouncer wouldnt let me back in at all. Not even to get my shoes and was told since I wasnt drinking alcohol I was not allowed back in. He was rude and to be honest I think it had more to do with the fact that I was a white woman coming in with a black man. I will NEVER go back to this establishment again!!!

The food smelled great and it was a cute little area. I had thought of going to try it out for a while now. This morning I walked in because I had gotten food somewhere else and they had forgotten to give me eating utensils. I had to wait for the bus and didnt have time to go back to the other place, so I walked into Peanuts because it was right next to the bus stop. The place was full of customers, and an employee sat behind the counter, practically bored. So I walked up to him and asked if I could have a plastic utensil. He said very rudely I dont want to give you one, but you can have one this time and practically threw a plastic fork on the counter for me to pick up. I get it, Im not a paying customer... but I could have very well been in the future! Sadly, because of this event, that is no longer an option.

We were looking for diner style food, a la Wafflehouse or iHop and we won the jackpot with this place. We had ham, polish sausage, linguicia (think chorizo), and sausage links with pancakes, hash browns, eggs, and toast. Everything was amazing and cooked to order.
