I was trying to tune my first violin, and in the process, snapped more than one. Took it here after searching for any options, was impressed with their speed, knowledge and prices. She tuned it for me (quickly and skillfully) after replacing the strings, very helpful. Not to mention she was patient with my many questions...Will definitely go here again!
I would pick this place over scott cao as this is place is bit more friendlier than scott cao and also helped us rent it instead of buying as the rental credit can be applied when buying for up to 6 months. Also shared good tips and advice to my kid who is just starting to play violin. Violin rented is a real good quality too :)i wish we were allowed inside but due to covid we had to be outside.
John, Sophie, and their staff are very helpful. I bought a 1/2 size violin and full size violin here. I rented my instruments first. My rental payment was applied as credit to my purchase. I bring my violins to the store every so often for a check up.
Quick and easy. Parking in the back, dont need to park on the street. As of now, front door is not open, they told me customers cannot go inside. Theres a waiting area outside.
High quality equipments in reasonable price.
If you played a string instrument Kamimoto may have exactly what you are looking for. My dad asked for a Cello C string. They had an assortment of choices ranging from $20 to $200. Of course my dad did not specify a brand, so I bought two different brands in the mid price range. Hopefully he will be trilled.
The Kamimoto String Instruments is the right place where to buy stringed musical instruments. They are made of high quality wood and strings, which guarantees perfect sound and the seller knows a lot about what he sells. You can find here plenty of these instruments in different sizes. It was a very lovely experience visiting this store.
Good selection of instruments, area outside to trial.
It has been 50 years in business. Selling highly top quality of string instruments. The seller knows very well about what he is selling. Very recommended 👍
I visited this place with a few friends to learn more about this place. The owners were really friendly and they guided us about the place, the different types of musical instruments that they have. Overall a good experience. If you are a musician, this is a place to be also they have musical classes too for learners.
Needed a new chinrest for my beginning student daughter. I was waited on right away and we were able to pick out a new chinrest and try it on her violin. I felt very comfortable with the expertise of the person helping us. He also treated us with respect and patience.
Worst experience during their partial closure. They keep send me one way mailed letter they will continue renewing while I call them and messaged them repeatedly to cancel and drop of instrument. No response back. They mail you whenever they want to charge you. Dont give your credit card number. Shady business. Not acceptable.
Huge selection of violins at different sizes but there arent too many other instruments. Theres a practice room with a music stand where you may choose to close the door and try out different instruments. This store has a combo deal for certain instruments where you also get a free case and bow so I would definitely recommend going here if youve been wanting to learn a string instrument or if you want to purchase one for your kids.
Place is great. I dropped in by chance with my guitar for minor repair...even though the specialize in violins the said they would fix it. Now i just need to pick it up. Awesome people
We came from out of town to rent a cello for a week for a wedding. There was a large selection of cellos to choose from, and the quality of the instruments were good. The lady worked at counter was very nice and helpful. It was a enjoyable experience working with them, I highly recommend the place to anyone who are in a similar situation.
Experts in all strings - violin, viola, cello, and bass. Its hard to find a place to sell and service the double bass. They did a wonderful job! Tight quarters but excellent service.
Wonderful string shop, super friendly and knowledgeable staff, lots of instruments in stock, great for young players. Great cello selection!
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Best selection of stringed orchestral instruments I have seen in the area. And they have in house repair services too. I am interested in renting initially with options to buy.
Very knowledgeable. Great workma ship on basses, violins and all other string instruments. We have been their customers since 2016.
I have been coming to Kamimotos for years with my cellos, folk harps and other Early and folk instruments. They can repair just about any musical instrument. I also got a wonderful 200+ year old cello that is not signed but has a fabulous sound. They are friendly and have reasonable prices. They specialize in instruments for schools and young children but also can meet the needs of other musicians both amateur and professional.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Many good instruments to choose from. Good prices on instruments, bows, strings and other equipment. Space a bit cramped.
Very much appreciate this place. My daughter needed a cello to rent (after transitioning from violin to cello) and they have been great to rent from.
Efficient and quick place to pick up an instrument. I rented a cello from there. I appreciated the quick service but would have liked a more thorough inspection and introduction to the cello.
Good place to buy string instruments or get them repaired.
I like to come here when my violin has any problem. I have visited the shop couple times, and each time I come home happy. I highly recommend this shop. I also like the luthier. I trust him to perform work on my violin.
The wait can be long on the weekends but they take care of you and the know their violins and strings instruments. Prices are reasonable too. They have a pretty quick turn around time with service.
We come here for all our stringed instrument needs, including repairs.
Excellent family run operation.
Anything to do with string instruments in the South Bay? Come to Kamimoto Strings and receive the best prices, a thorough selection (of contrabasses & cellos especially,) and efficient turnaround times for all your repairs. My studio has purchased many cellos, strings & rosin, etc., from this shoppe - good people
A fun place to visit for all things string instruments. They will let you peek in their repair shop where luthiers fix and restore. Their bulletin boards have dozens of cards of teachers, performers and groups, as well as posters for concerts. Sales, repairs, strings, spare parts - all there.
Great people, great service, great instruments. Ive been going here for quite a few years, both for renting cellos, fixing basses, or buying anything I need. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and they really do have your best interests at heart! I definitely recommend Kamimoto Strings to everyone.
I have been going to kaminoto strings for about 4 years- since Ive started playing the violin. I truly recommend this place to anyone looking for a string instrument for a good price. Once youve bought it, you can switch it out for s bigger one and itll be 66% off! I love this place and its environment.
Wonderful service here. They repaired my violin, restringed, new sound peg, and threw in a free strap for my case to boot! All within a day!
The service was exceptional
Best quality violins in the Bay Area. Exceptionally knowledgeable, and have a large variety of instruments up and down the price scale.
I returned my rental violin on August 11th. They did not give my refund right away. Instead, they told me they will cut the check to me at end of the month. I wait until September and they still did not gave me the check. So I called again. They told me they will cut the check right away. ect... Now it is almost Christmas. They still did not give me my refund. This is really bad ways of dealing with customer. Never had this issue with any other business before. TOO BAD!
Well stocked, competitively priced. Free parking around the back of the building.
Great service and a great variety of musical string instruments
Had my bow rehaired. Quick service and great value. Highly recommend.
Because they know what you need. And they can fix old old pre×-@aviously repaired string instrment
They do fine work in repairing violin and cello. Very honest people.
Great service. The employees are knowledgeable and patient.
Great place to buy or rent any string instrument.
Well stocked. Friendly people
Quick service. Experienced team
Very bad customer service. No respect.
Great experience with viola rentals.
Great service, reasonable prices and high quality. I will continue to go there.
Waited for service for half an hour, and when I received service it was rushed. The instruments were mostly overpriced, damaged starters.
This is kind of only place for repairing string instruments. Their customer service is not really good but no choice.
Great products and services.
I visit San Jose frequently and always rent a cello when Im here so I can practice. I like the shop and the staff.
Good instrument rental place
If the place is ok
