Great experience! Fast, pleasant experience. It would get one more star if there was a waiting room but I stayed in my car, socially distancing in back seat while smog check was done. Bonus: there is currently a coupon on their website, making it the best value on a smog check and certification around SLO.

In and out within 20 minutes for smog. Needed a new gas cap due to cracked gasket - replaced at a great price. Would recommend - just needs a shaded waiting area given the south facing location, and maybe some parking lines to keep traffic a little better organized. Thanks!

I would strongly advise against taking your vehicle here for any reason!Here is my personal experience. I needed a smog quickly, called in advance and was given an appointment 30 minutes out. So far, everything seemed great.When I arrived, the office was empty. It took over 10 minutes for someone to help me (a warning sign that I should have already left). After that, it took another 20 minutes before they began checking my vehicle, even though they appeared to have no other customers.Eventually, they completed my smog check and told me that my vehicle had failed to pass. My vehicle had in fact passed the emissions test and 2 out of the 3 portions of the smog check. However, Octavio told me that I had failed the visual inspection portion of the check. He then quoted me a very high price for replacing a simple/cheap part (rubber hose) and told me that I must do this to pass smog.I then took my vehicle to a different shop where it passed without any problems.This place is looking to scam you and make extra money off of bogus repairs. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!

Took a car there that I had purchased from a private seller and I needed to get a Smog check last minute. I saw they were local and had called around for pricing since a “smog is a smog” (IMO) and needed to get it done quick. They not only had the best value, because their service was excellent too. It was fast and it passed! Took maybe 15 mins. The Technician I worked with was very polite and professional. I recommend this place for smog checks.

I needed a smog check to complete my car registration. I called ahead and got an appointment for two hours after I called. They were very nice and speedy. Took less than 20 minutes. I highly recommend them and will be using their service again in the future!

I was able to get my car swiftly smogged here. There was no wait to get my car in, and the process was very smooth. The customer service was polite and friendly, and there were coupons available online. It was simply an all around great experience.

An Honest mechanic is hard to find but I trust these guys. Octavio always get me in and taken care of quickly. They are more expensive than other independent mechanic shops but it’s always a good experience going here.

Called beforehand to see if they could do a smog check on my car. They said they had a spot open that afternoon so I booked the time. Pulled up and was greeted right away. The check took only about 20 minutes. Staff is very nice. I would recommend them to others and will definitely be back to have other work done to my vehicles.

Best repair shop on the central coast hands down. I was told by a very well known shop that I needed a new engine, $27,000 quote. JC Automotive found it was just a problem with the oil, a $204. repair! Unbelievable!! Honest, reliable & professional.

Great place have been in business for 25 years.they told me it would take 20-30 mins to do a smog and it ended up taking 16. I timed it just to see how fast they really were.they also had a nice outside seats with shade what more could you ask for. Thanks again guys. See you next smog.

Octavio was very helpful! Quality service. I’d give 5 stars, but there wasn’t really a waiting area, just a front porch/patio outside, and it was pretty chilly.

Walked in for a last minute smog test on a Friday afternoon an hour or less before closing. They happily took me in and got me started right away. I was in and out lickety split. I called JC Automotive for an oil change, they got me in the next morning and totally worked with my schedule! I ended up showing up an hr earlier then expected as my prior appt finished quick. He got me in fast and I didnt have to wait the extra time ! He explained the options available to me for my model of car and such . I relaxed in the outside seating and enjoyed coffee provided with real creamer! Yes for me that counts for something too as Im not a huge fan of the powdered stuff . Extremely friendly and look forward to having them service my suv in the future!

We have used JC for several years. They are always very busy. I Went in for a smog.check.They were with me as scheduled10:30 am.. Started the test right away. The only thing is the mechanic walked away to help out another mechanic in back 15 minutes later I was beginning to think he forgot me. He came back out finished the check and walked away again. The Owner is answering the phone non stop, answering mechanic questions, making up the bills and 10 minutes later the owner said I was all done. I paid went to get into the car and the testing machine was still plugged in.On the other hand, when we have mechanical issues they do a good job, the rates are reasonable, and seem to be very honest.

Ontavio is the owner of this automotive shop. I needed smog testing and the woman who was helping me at the Department of Motor Vehicles recommended going to JC Automotive speaking with antario, she stated that he would always fit someone in and that she used him as her personal mechanic and recommended him for all Automotive needs. I immediately went and he fit me in even though the shop was extremely busy.I have decided to use him as my auto mechanic and he isnt taking advantage of women who are not knowledgeable in automobiles. He suggested two belts be changed since they were over 12 years old and when I said well throw in an oil change he said there was no need the oil was fine and it had been done recently. Now that is an honest man. I cant recommend the shop or him enough and I would recommend everyone go because they will be treated fairly and knowledgeably.

Very fast service and a decent price on a smog check.

Dropped off Monday at lunch and expected to pick up the next day but received a text it was done early. I hate being without my car so this was a huge plus for me! I only wish they were open until 5:30pm.
