DO NOT RENT HERE!! I This facility raised my rent over 100% this month!!! I was given less than 1 months notice of this huge rate hike. I contacted them assuming it was an error, since my previous rent increases have been in the 5-20% range. They informed me it was not an error and offered no explanation to substantiate why a long term, consistently paying renter would be subjected to such an aggressive rent increase. Obviously, there is nothing in my rental contract to protect me from such ridiculous and unsubstantiated rental hikes. This place has minimal employees, limited hours, limited utilities and normal maintenance. The overhead on these facilities are pretty standard.It will be very difficult and expensive for me to move my things, but I refuse to support a business with such greedy practices.

Very rude service. Be very careful when you fill up the truck that you are not paying for the prior customers gas usage. This happened to us, and we complained to the front desk clerk. Instead of apologizing, she was mouthing off to us and refused to offer any solution. She even had the nerves to tell us that she would not rent the truck to us again, this after stealing from us by making us pay for a prior customers gas usage. Avoid these guys at all cost.

Really quick and helpful service. Needed a place quickly and slo city storage helped us out. Found a unit that fit our needs and even stayed after hours to get us situated. Will be coming back if I need storage in the future.

My rental transaction with SLO City Storage was fast and efficient. I especially liked the option to reserve a unit and ensure I received the price I was quoted. We found ourselves in a jam and needed a truck on the spot, not only did they have one in stock, they had us squared away and on the road for an incredible deal.They are very thorough and work with you to setup the best truck and schedule that you need, and they do it with such a great attitude and service. We definitely had the feeling that they were glad to see us and saw more than just a customer, but a friend.We will be working with SLO City Storage for our future truck rentals.

This place quotes a price over the phone, and somehow those same prices rise significantly by the time you arrive to sign paperwork. Buyer beware.

Pricing is high but the first month is free. The free rental truck program is misleading, and I would recommend renting a uhaul instead. As far as the standards, it seemed like the property manager went over the details very quickly and there arent many signs around to explain the rules of this facility. So for those that do end up renting a unit here: it closes at 9pm but the gate will let you out until 910pm, pricing is high to keep out the homeless and bathrooms are only open when management is present. One time I was using the bathroom for two minutes and the property managers were knocking on the door and yelling at me to hurry up. Apparently, a female customer was waiting. When I first moved into the complex, I had plugged my cell phone charger into one of the outlets and the manager got pretty upset and told me I would have to pay $200 for using their electricity. A simple heads up would have some the trick. Maybe if it was a recurring issue, I could see how this would be frustrating but that was a one time thing. Customer service is absolutely terrible but what would you expect from a storage unit complex, right? Very condescending to tenants with an authoritarian attitude. As far as late payments, I was told the late fee is $55 which would have been illegal. When I was late one month, I noticed the actual late fee they charge is the maximum legal amount of 15% of your monthly rent. Is it too much to ask for honesty from a manager these days? Here is the issue with lying: Cant help but wondering what other lies I need to worry about down the road. Cannot say they truly value the customer here. Well, at least male customers... they treat ladies much better from what Ive seen. Really guys?! Gotta ask: Why cant we get better customer service is the rent is at a premium? So, if I were able to do it all over, Id definitely rent from a different place in town. The only reason this isnt a single-star review is based on the consistent cleanliness of the location. In that regard, this place is on point.

Slo City Storage Gabe me peace of mind storing my valuables while out of town for 3 months. The security of the facility matched with the professionalism of the staff made me feel that I did not need to worry. The units also maintained good temperature control which helped keep some things better than they would have at another place.

Units were clean and week kept. Easy move in and out with their truck rental. Friendly staff (especially Ramiro when I moved out today!)

The staff at slo city storage is very nice and friendly! They made the move in process easy as possible! They have a rental trucks, moving boxes tape and all of the things you need to move and at great prices! I would use them again!

Absolutely loved this place. I needed a unit for a month/2 months while i was in between rents for college and it was so cheap and they are so easy to be in contact with!! Would definitely recommend this to any college student.

I really gotta say this place was great, rates no higher than anywhere else, the staff was super cool and the property was secure I rented a unit for nearly a year and never felt uncomfortable or worried my things would be ripped off or damaged. Everything was clean, safely secured, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is the worst storage I have ever rented from. My understanding was they were fully secured with video cameras. Though when my storage (an inside unit) was broken into after 2-3 months. I was told I needed a search warrant to see the videos then told they do not have cameras inside the units. My storage was ransacked and every single box was gonna through. Top it off they did not seem concerned an told me, didnt I have a cheap lock on my storage. Because I didnt buy on of their locks.

Romero is the worst—and, so is his manager. It took 45 minutes to find my reservation and get my truck. Romero didn’t know how to use the computer or the payment system. He had to call his manager (who, by the way, would not release his name or speak with me on the phone) at least 15 times. No apologies—just kept typing at the keys. I was 30 minutes late to my movers because of this company. And, they failed to put the blanket pads and dolly in the truck. When I called and told Romero, his response was, “Sorry. You can come and get them.” Do not use this place. It is awful.

I’m a student and I have rented a storage unit from Slo City Storage the last two summers and have had great experiences with the staff and the facility. The units are clean and easy to access, and I even received the first month of rent from free because of a student discount they have. I highly recommend Slo City Storage!

Since corporate took over managing this place, it went down hill quick.I cant believe how mean the guy was to the lady moving out of the unit. Many of my customers have a lot of complaints about this place and have moved to other storage facilities. They force you to buy THEIR (overpriced) renters insurance or else they wont rent to you.
