I reached out to noonan door and Sash after we learned that an opening to office we have in our home is too big for prehung doors. We were told by handyman and contractors that we should find someone to do custom doors and that it would probably cost us between 3-4000 to do this. When I reached out to NDS, they were very nice on the phone. I spoke to the owner, Marcos daughter and I sent her quotes along with a picture of the opening. I spoke to Marco on the phone and told him about how much we were quoted and asked if this was consistent with what we wanted to do. He said yes. He came out to do an estimate about 1 week later. Yesterday, he took measurements and quoted us for the installation and the custom doors 2700-3000. We were considering french doors and double panel doors. He said that this price included everything but the paint. This morning, I recieved two estimates. One for 4600, and the other for 5000. Not including the paint which he said someone else would have to do for an additional 800-1200. He explained that the reason the estimates were so high was because of the fact that none of his suppliers made doors for those specific dimensions. Which confused me because the whole reason we reached out is because we had prior knowledge we couldnt get these doors prehung. As mentioned, the day he did the estimate, he said these would be for custom doors. He even showed us pictures of what it would look like after he built it on his phone! I called and asked him about why the estimates were so much higher and asked why his estimate was sooo different than what he told us yesterday. He maintained that this was not a quote for custom doors, and that he checked with his suppliers and because of this, the estimate was higher. A few moments later his daughter came on the phone. She said the same thing, and told me that I had misunderstood what he said when he gave me the estimate. She was not with him when he gave us the estimate and had not heard what he told us. She kept insinuating that I was calling to haggle and get the price down, which I was not. I was trying to understand the quote was so off from what we were told explicitly. It was a very bad phone call that lacked professionalism. As a company, if someone gave the wrong information, and the estimate ends up being higher, or there is a major misunderstanding on their part, take ownership! I didnt make up what he said, and there were plenty of witnesses to it. I didnt make up that I made it clear in the beginning we were looking for custom doors. This is why I reached out to a carptener/contractor! To blame the customer was as I stated extremely unprofessional, and had an overall vibe of dishonesty. Will not be working with them and simply cant recommend.
