A fantastic location in Downtown Santa Barbara for all your Apple needs. Their Genius Bar team is excellent, knowledgeable, courteous, and quick. Plus— you’re in Santa Barbara! Go walk around and visit lovely shops on State Street that is (temporarily) closed to traffic. Inexpensive—often Free!—parking is nearby.

The Santa Barbara Apple store is typical of their retail outlets across the country. They have a number of “Genius” associates to assist you with your question’s or give product information. You are greeted at the door and assigned an associate. There can be long waits especially during new product launches. I find their style somewhat awkward at times as all transactions are through electronic devices.

We brought in a phone for a cracked back, we were told it was a simple repair and that we could buy Apple care before paying for the completed repair. So we agreed to the repair, not being informed that the repair would actually be a full system $500 repair or that the phone would be wiped. When we came back after the phone was repaired we asked to pay for the Apple care prior to paying for the cost of the repair, we were told we have to pay for the repair first. After we paid for the repair, we were told that we could no longer by Apple care and that we had to buy it before paying for the repair. We called for the supervisor. The supervisor Michael was unable to help. We were told to contact apple care by phone. Apple care by phone told us we could not get the Apple care. Very disappointed.

When they were setting up my phone they said I would get my previous number. The person helping me made mistakes several times and my number was not ported even though she told me it would be. She clearly did not know what she was doing.This got me stuck in an installment plan with a random number and they said it wasnt their problem.Terrible service at both visits.

I’d recommend avoiding the store if you are looking for support. Their Genius Bar’ is really a means to get new sales and not help people.Go here if you née new hardware or accessories but for support avoid.

SMH, do NOT get your laptop fixed from the Apple Store if you want to overpay! Just go to a smaller tech shop who will do a quality job for cheaper, and ACTUALLY give thorough/legitimate explanations of the work theyre doing.For context, my Macbook display broke (flashing purple lines constantly) for absolutely no reason - I didnt drop it, no water damage, I always handled it with care. The display breaking was simply a manufacturing issue, but since I dont have Apple Care, Apple charged me OVER $600 to fix the repair (which in their description, only consisted of reseating an internal cable). The worker at the Apple Store on State St then reprimanded me for not having Apple Care, which I found extremely rude and unnecessary since they wont even allow the option for me to purchase Apple Care at this point! Essentially the worker told me I should have purchased Apple Care 2 years ago when I bought the laptop, and that even though I did nothing to the computer to break the display function, these things happen.On top of that, I was extremely displeased (but still kind to the worker as I, too, work in Customer Support) and asked for a thorough breakdown of what went wrong with the laptop/how they fixed it. She said that information should have already been emailed to me (which it wasnt, and it wasnt in my Spam folder either). I asked her to print out the notes for me instead, and she ended up printing up the wrong document.Overall a horrible experience and I completely regret going to the Apple Store for a minor fix, that was their fault, that cost me over $600.

Worst experience ever! We made an appointment a day before and arrived right on time. However, they still let us wait for half an hour, and no one was helping us during that period of time. When finally someone came to help us, they told us a lot of products were out of stock and let us buy it online. It seems that their employees know little about the products. If you wanna buy anything, don’t come to the store.

Why have a retail location and make it worse than online shopping? I saw online that this location had the exact phone I wanted, went to buy it, and was told that the store was open to walk-ins (as every retail store in the world currently is) but I couldnt actually purchase it without an appointment. One kind employee suggested I order the product online (using a mac in the store), select in-store pickup, and then they would be able to sell it to me. For some reason, this was easier than someone taking 3-5 minutes to get the phone off a shelf and running a credit card. Also, calling the local phone number for this location ends up getting routed to a random support person working from their home with no real knowledge of the actual retail location. What a dehumanizing, bureaucratic mess.

I don’t understand what’s going on with their shopping experience right now. I went to purchase a specific item that I know is in stock. They say that I have to order it online for pickup which says available tomorrow because they are out of “pickup window times” for the day. My frustration comes from the fact that they won’t explain why they can’t go in the back and grab it and simply say I have to come back if that’s what the app says. They’ve taken all the humanity out of the store and it just operates like a warehouse now.

The manager here was incredibly rude and unprofessional when dealing with macbook fix. Not only does he interrupt you multiple times to the point where you have to say let me finish my sentence, he constantly disputes you despite the clear disparity in explanation that existed between the manager and the previous employee who transferred me to this manager. Also, during the transfer, I was on hold for minutes until the voice system hung up automatically. Rather than providing explanation for such delay in transfer, he simply accused me of hanging up before the transfer happened. Great way to start customer service convo.

3/20/2020. The worst apple employee ever was a man pretty short in front of the door helping to check in. Only knew to chat with other staffs and didn’t know how to help customers. I came earlier than my scheduled time for 5mins, waited for a while and asked how long’s gonna take to wait for my appointment, he was like “oh for a sec” and continued chatting. and I waited for another 20mins standing like a wood.Never getting an apple product in store anymore because of the horrible service!

Despite what they say on line, you CANNOT enter the store for any reason without an appointment. I walked 30 minutes after viewing a “less busy than normal” posting in real time, after reading that “you do not need an appointment to enter just to buy something,” only to be denied entry by a pleasant enough young man who said, all the “walk-ins” were taken for today! And he explained they had no way to update the information on line! Imagine this excuse from Apple computers! At least he was wearing a mask.

Rude and unprofessional. No one is making an effort to make a sale. Employees standing around oblivious to the customer and manager seems to be supportive of this behavior. I went to this store to buy a stainless still band, and they said that were no employees available to help me out while I could see them ALL standing by, chatting and doing absolutely nothing.

I went here to buy an iPad today and was met with the worst customer service experience that I have had in a long time. As I walked into their line, which had their health questionnaire posted up. I glanced at it and it’s the same as everywhere else so I went to get in line behind the two other people waiting. A security guard that was leaning up behind a post jumped out in front of me and without even a greeting was welcomed with, “What are you doing here, do you have an appointment?” I said that I did not and asked if I needed one and if the attitude was necessary. I was told that I had to speak with someone in another area, and that the attitude was necessary. The next person told me that no appointment was necessary, then said, “what do you want”. I asked what all the attitude was about again and they said that there was no attitude and they they would ask me some questions. Had they just done what their sign said without the attitude that would have been fine. I decide to leave instead because they saw no issue with their approach to a paying customer. I’ve posted very few negative reviews on here but this is by far the strangest customer experience that I have had.Unfortunately I still need to get an iPad to work with the other equipment that I am using but I will definitely not be getting it here.Please take time to refresh all of your employees with how to greet customers and how to be professional.

Awesome! Very well run store. The employees were super helpful and, to my surprise and pleasure, not pushy in any way.I was surprised at the amount of customers they have — I came for the first time on Monday morning. There was a line all the way down the street. However, the store was very well run. I was helped right away but a genuinely friendly employee. As someone whom has always had apple products Im very dissappointed with the direction this establishment has gone with their terrible customer service. Theyre happy to sell you products and applecare without a wait but if you need to use your applecare, plan on being turned away and either told to call a number for an appointment (you will sit on hold for 1 hr then be told that the next available time is in a few days) or download an app to make an appointment). But if youre buying something youre good to go in and pay. Shame on apple and their rude staff.

We traded our computers in online and apple told us that we couldnt get anything but store credit unless we went into the store physically to get our credit card refunded. We went to the store and they were exceptionally rude and unhelpful. They blamed us. They would help. Wouldnt even call Apple to help. They just told us its your fault. Not our problem, we just are a retail store. Really? The have now essentially stolen our computers. Beware.

Apple store is the great place to test different devices before buying them they have all kind of Apple products available for testing and very welcoming as far as people coming there and clay with Apple products. The only thing I dont like about the store is first of all they dont really have any discounts on products if you wanted discounted products you should check online prices which substantially sometimes its lower than Apple store prices the second thing I dont like about the store is that there are some people and they try to inquire about your business whenever you walk in there. Overall though I like the Apple Store and I appreciate the fact that its in Santa Barbara.

The wait times for this location are longer than most Apple stores but for such a busy location, its really not that bad. Go get a coffee next store and theyll send you a text when someones available. I went in without an appointment and expected to wait a little, Felix ended up helping me and I cannot tell you how happy I was with his customer service. My phone was completely busted and he told me the cost to replace would be $300.. thankfully I had an extended warranty through Verizon and I could go through them to get a replacement phone. I asked to borrow a phone to call Verizon and he was very accommodating in helping me get everything worked out. He likely realized at some point that he was not going to make a sale from me but still helped me in every way he could. He even assisted the Verizon representative and I by making sure there was no damage to my phone and did a factory reset so I could send it back to Verizon. Im really thankful he was my genius guy. Thanks again for your patience and generosity!

Very disappointed Customer service very bad ... need more bilingual staff and that all workers do their job as is and not be losing time between them, pay more attention to the customer. Made an appointment, came in on time, signed in at the front of the store, was told to sit at the Genius Bar. After an hour, and noticing other people who arrived after me at the bar were being helped before me, I went to the sign-in guy to complain. Oh oops, they could not find me at the time and now I was back at the bottom of the list as if I had not shown up. I had not been asleep and would have noticed if anyone had been looking for me. It took another half hour before someone became available. It was difficult to be polite and gracious at this point even though I was aware that the very person who eventually helped me was probably not the one responsible for the poor service.

Foremost part of like the store only thing that I dont like about it is that every time you walk into the building you are sworn by the representative who would like to sell you something. Have bought two different MacBook Airs at this store in the past three years and have stopped by for other items along the way. They are at the top of my experience for outstanding customer care--although this is a labor-intensive process, there have been no problems and they sell great products. This store is a great alternative to ordering online, and a higher quality experience than Best Buy and the other local shops that carry similar products. Each time Ive been there theyve got more staff helping customers than other stores, which makes me feel as though they care more about the overall customer experience. The staff is knowledgable about their products and have done a great job each time Ive visited. The store is clean and always professional. They have almost every accessory I could think of, which shows a great deal of research. I highly recommend this store.

Helpful from the moment you walk in. And they help no matter if you are purchasing or not. Its the Apple Store. It is probably exactly what you are expecting from it. Nothing is cheap, but you know that going in. I think the staff is what makes it worth going in. You do have to deal with other customer who dont know exactly what they are doing and need things explained to them a few times.

Travis, the store manager, was very inconsiderate when it came to getting my MacBook repaired. I had to send my MacBook out because of a problem Apple was responsible for (keyboard recall). This store offered no incentive for me losing a work laptop for over 1 week. I kid you not, Chris, the service rep, says “well you can buy another laptop and return it so you have a laptop while we service this one”. Instead of working with me to help me find a solution that Apple has caused, he rudely tells me to spend $2,000 on another laptop with none of my files on it? Are you kidding me Apple? I could find better customer service at McDonald’s. I thought Apple was known for having great customer service but after this experience I will make sure to reconsider purchasing any Apple products in the future. Travis was also so disrespectful and rude to speak with but I won’t even get into that.

I made a Genius Bar reservation for a battery replacement (due to the “fix” Apple implemented that slows down phones with old batteries) at 4:50pm and showed up right about then. There was some kind of celebration going on for the employees at the time which was incredibly loud, obnoxious, and anxiety-inducing. Because all but a couple of workers were participating in this, nobody came to help me when I showed up and sat at the bar. At 5:00, somebody of apparent importance emerged from a door in the back and the employees started clapping and cheering, making the scene even more unbearable than it was before. Although it eventually ended, my experience was already tarnished and was only further impacted by the fact that Apple’s pricing on certain repairs is ridiculous. I ended my appointment as soon as the employee helping me explained that a battery and screen replacement would cost almost $200 and resolved to never buy Apple again.

I arrived only to be told that they would were to busy to fix it. I live over a hour way so I spent 4 hours just driving not to get my phone fixed. This is my first Apple phone and I am not happy.

The staff missed a lot of opportunities to help me today. Even if they were all busy with appointments, why couldnt someone just let me know that they see me or ask if I had questions or ask if I had been helped already? Basic customer service guidelines! At one point, 2 employees were chatting and laughing and the moment I walked up to them with a purchase, they made me feel unimportant by letting me know that theyre busy and scattered off. Thankfully an available employee, Greg, was kind enough to help me out with my quick purchase. He asked me a couple more questions, we began to discuss, and I let him know I would be traveling soon to japan, a country hes lived in for quite some time. He turned my experience upside-down. He was friendly and gave me some great advice on not only my travels but my purchases that day. I walked in with a lot of questions/concerns and no one seemed to care except Greg. His customer service is the kind that stands out amongst a full staff that lacks it. 2 stars for Apple State Street, 5 stars for Greg.

Used to be good, but the two times Ive recently been there (aug + sept 2018) the front door area staff are terrible. In August, i noticed that the security card was leaning again the front plate glass window doing his private texts, didnt look at anyone going in or out the door. I began watching him to see how long it took to glance up to scan the store. I timed him. It was 12 minutes. I mentioned this to a staff member; they just shrugged. Wow. OK. Their loss. Again in the store by appointment, the greeter told me I couldnt use any of their cords to charge my computer until 10 minutes before my Genius Bar appointment. The store was not full. He kept saying that I should wait 20 minutes and then come back to him to check in. Wow. With a computer with 0% battery life, he was asking me just to sit for 20 minutes and do nothing, but keep track of the time and get back to him to check in 10 minutes before my appointment. Maybe the baseball cap on his head was confusing his brain about keeping tech customers able to use their time. I glanced at a different staff member who walked me to a power cord. So theyre not all dummies here, but something has fallen off the rails in how they are NOT training their front of store staff adequately anymore.

Nice gadgets and products but poor quality staff. My friend purchased a drone some time ago and I dropped in to check it out. They lacked knowledge when I asked questions. On top of that my friend got harassed several times by a bored Hispanic dude that works there even though she declined his assistance.*Manager* is not helpful at all when you voice legitimate objections. Why have a manager ? when some of his on duty clowns and punks ruin your visit to Apple store not for the first time?

1.0 star rating 7/14/2018two weeks ago I dropped my phone when I found out my Mother who is in cardiac failure was admitted to the hospital and I needed to travel. I go to the apple store and they sell me a new phone. 4.5 hrs with the geniuses that cannot in fact fix it. They charged me 300 bucks and for free gave me some kind of glass protector. The new 300 dollar supposed out of the box new phone no one can hear me. No one. Its a really disappointing experience every time I walk through those doors. I dread having to go. The folks who work there are nice enough but their system of helping customers is totally broken. The wait times are ridiculously long, they dont update you on where you are in line to be helped so I have waited indefinitely. They dont make eye contact while youre waiting so its taken me getting fed up with 20+ minutes of waiting for my appointment to finally go to a sales rep and ask whats going on. Theres almost no internet in the store, so forget catching up on emails or whatever on your phone. Try to leave your kids at home because every time I go in for an appointment, Im there upwards of an hour, my little one goes nuts. Either its Apples broken customer service system (although Ive been helped more expeditiously in other locations) or this location needs more staff and better training on communication, and customer service. In order to be helped, I feel like you need to be somewhat pushy and insistent at this location, which is not a pleasant way to interact with sales reps.

I was a little late to my appointment so it was canceled, but they put me back in and I had to wait about 10-15 minutes. The staff was very friendly, helped me with an issue I was having with an external hard drive and let me sit in the store for 6 hours while I got everything off my computer and onto the hard drive so I could factory reset my computer, which I was unable to do at home and what brought me to the Apple store. Staff checked in on me multiple times while I struggled to get everything off the computer. They were great and super friendly! Thanks for the support guys

MacBook Pro was taken to Genius Bar for sleep/wake problem covered by an Apple Care agreement. To correct the problem, the hard drive was wiped clean by Apple. When I picked the computer up, the genius was completely apathetic, yawning frequently. He was not forthcoming in describing what had been done or how to rebuild/recover what had been removed (it was backed up twice). I had to hire an outside Apple expert to walk me through the process. Were I not a loyal Apple user (since Apple ][), based on this experience, I would never return to the Apple Store Genius Bar.

When service is good its very good. Every so often customer service is terrible. Last time I was there I was cl early disabled struggling to stand they ignored me f or over 10 minutes and made me wait up at the front, even after I attempted to flag people down. When I complained they didnt apologize but just asked me why am I here and kept cutting me off when I tried to answer. They made me feel like I was inconveniencing them.

I had to go in there last week for my boss. It seemed like everyone was out to lunch but maybe its a generational thing. Definitely a weird vibe though. Hard to tell who was there to help and who was there just to waft around through the store.Glad I only have an iPod.

Brought in MacBook Air that would not turn on and under Applecare, they repaired it for free and returned it within a week. Will remain a loyal customer! Thank you State St Apple staff! You guys are great!

Ive had great experiences shopping in Apple stores in New York and San Francisco and Barcelona Spain, but I cannot recommend the Apple Store on State St in Santa Barbara. It is a poorly staffed store. The employees come over from UCSB and have no idea on how to treat customers particularly customers that want to spend $2500 for a computer. I was fourth in line to buy a Apple laptop and I waited patiently. Then I was told I was sixth. Slightly exasperated I said Im here to buy a $2500 laptop for my son and the young Apple employee turns and says to me Im sorry but if your going to talk like that Im going to ask you to leave. I was stunned! Feeling insulted, I turned and walked out of the store. Ive never set foot in there again.

My appointment was for 12:40. I got there a few minutes early, checked in and was sent to the big long table in the back. I waited and waited. Everyone was busy. Finally another customer who knew I had arrived before him told the guy who was working with him to check on me. Finally, eye contact!Then this worker looked me up and discovered that I was “cancelled”. Meanwhile someone walked right up to the back table without an appointment, and was given immediate attention. The employee didn’t even bother to check with me, already sitting there looking for someone to attend to me. The guy on my right apologized obviously for someone else’s mistake. But now I’d already been waiting 40 minutes. He reinstated me in the queue and someone did attend to me. But what a waste of time. I do not recommend this Apple store at all.

This is actually the worst Apple store Ive experienced. Toronto was fine, NYC was fine, Grove was fine. This place is junk and doesnt know how to treat customers. I was on my way home from work on my bicycle (SB - Ventura), and I wanted to pop in that store, not to buy anything, but simply to ask a question. One question! I didnt have a bike lock with me, since it wasnt my intention to stop en-route, so I was doing what I would normally do: take the bike inside and lean it against a wall, away from anything. Before I could even open the door, I was blocked by their rent-a-cop and the greeter, and told no and to leave.Look - I understand that they might have a no-bike policy, and theyre welcome to that policy, but the way this was handled is disgusting. The right way to handle this would have been to tell me about the policy, maybe let me in this one time, or to say no, but is there anything you needed help with? The other frightening aspect of this was the utter lack of judgement by either the security guard or the greeter. I was on a very expensive road bike, not a beach cruiser or a dirty / greasy mountain bike. Do you really think having a 17lb bike leaning against a wall or your front window would do anything other than add a little colour to the otherwise institutional look of your store? I dont think so.

Without a doubt one of the worst Apple stores I have had the misfortune of entering. Ive had to come in on three separate occasions for genius bar appointments and each was unpleasant for a different reason. Warning, even if you are going in for a quick fix and under full warranty (aka, your computer charger stopped working and you need them to switch it out) expect to be there for at least an hour because they have their geniuses hop from person to person. Frustrating to say the least.

Came in initially for a phone inspection and Spencer, who was helping me was extremely rushed and impatient with me. I was trying to get my husbands information to replace his water damaged phone, but I had a hard time because he was at busy at his job. I had work relatively soon so I asked to schedule another appointment later on in the day. He told me that I didnt have to make another appointment to come in and they would have everything set up for when I come in later. So I come back again and they do not have anyone available to assist me. Elio suggested I make another appointment to come in, which I glady did. When I came in the THIRD time, they told me they still dont have anyone to assist me and I would have to wait another hour. What is the point of making an appointment ahead of time if I have to wait? They told me to call support to see if I could get someone else to help. I called tech support and they referred me to go back to the store. I just need a phone to be replaced.. how hard is that....?

I am heading to my old hometown in Santa Barbara in two weeks and very disappointed in all the bad reviews . I live in NYC now and all Apple stores here and their staff are 99% knowledgeable and very accommodating. Planning on purchasing an iPhone 6 for my sister who lives in SB, but now I think I might just purchase it here in NY. I hope the Apple management team will address this service issues. I always tell people to visit Santa Barbara on their next trip.

7/21/17 - I received two calls to my residence where caller (with foreign accent) claimed to be Apple Security. In the first call the caller claimed me they detected someone trying to access my iCloud account from a location in Mexico. The second caller claimed a security breach in Europe. They mentioned both my name and residential address.The call apparently spoofs the Santa Barbara, Apple Stores568-1500 number. I reported this to Apple, and then the SB Apple Store and the rep I spoke to confirmed an active scam occurring. Good to know they are aware and have reported the scam to authorities.

Poor service, customer treated like a conveyor belt, gave up waiting after 10 minutes to buy a $1,499 MacBook Pro, told one of the guys at the door I am going as cant wait any longer to buy a laptop to which he said fine! Said I would go and buy a Microsoft surface instead and again he just said fine. Asked for his name and was told I have no interest in giving you my name. Called store to speak with a manager who said ok, well we are always busy but thanks for calling. Someone needs to take charge in this store, no obvious manager and young techie staff in sufficiently qualified at customer service. Very poor show Apple!!!!!!!
