When my 18-1/2 year old fridge started leaking water and not keeping the food cold, I was in dire need of a replacement. Shelley came to my rescue. Shelley was so knowledgeable about the options. Since I had a built-in fridge, I needed to make sure it could fit within my existing cabinetry. She walked me through pricing and options. We did everything over the phone. Shelley recommended the installer (Matt Stalie). Matt picked up the fridge from University Electric, removed the old one, and he and his crew did a fantastic job. This was a very smooth process from end-to-end. And I love having a functioning new fridge.
Very good customer service and was able to find the range I was looking for
I find this is the finest place to shop. Employees are not pushy or pressure customers. They provide realistic alternatives. Finally, the pricing is very fair.
Do not give your business to this store, they are indifferent when their products dont come in timely. they do not provide updates and are absolutely terrible with communication. I ordered my appliances on 10/7/2020 and I still do not have one of them as of 1/22/21, I call every day and they say Sorry, we have no idea where it is! What kind of response is that? Its a microwave, the most common appliance besides maybe a toaster? I have asked for my money back and they have not responded. I was trying to shop local and not order online, NEVER AGAIN!
Great service and a fantastic selection.
We have gotten many appliances for our kitchen from University Electric through the years and have always been extremely satisfied. Most recently, our washing machine broke, and we ordered a new machine over the phone due to the pandemic. The service we received from everyone was extraordinary - the recommendation of which machine would best meet our needs, the delivery speed and reliability were outstanding. I recommend University Electric for all appliance needs. Thank you to Christina and the staff!
For decades, I have bought all my major appliances at University Electric after being referred there by a contractor and multiple friends. Not only do they offer a very wide selection, but also their employees are exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. Though the people I had worked with in the past had retired, that expertise I had come to rely on is still there! Kao (pronounced Kal) asked me many questions to help me decide which washer and dryer were best for me. He very clearly explained differences among various brands and models, and he listened and responded to my needs and preferences. A friend who was with me commented on the exceptional professionalism and expertise at University Electric compared to the big box stores, and the prices are comparable or more discounted. If you want a great selection of quality products and the information necessary to make the best choices, there is no place like University Electric. That’s why they’ve been in business for over 100 years.
Awesome store, my go-to place for appliances.
Andy M. was great! Lots of detail information that kitchen remodelers need to consider when replacing all your appliances. Hes not only a pro but polite and a listener.
I wasnt super impressed with this place. I went in looking for a dishwasher, and had one in mind based on their online search tool. The measurement they had on their site differed from what was in the store, or so I was told, so I was steered away from that dishwasher. No problem, the guy helped me find something that would fit, and we were on our way again. I was ready to pull the trigger on a thousand dollar dishwasher, and dude tries to hit me with a delivery fee. I looked at him dead pan, and asked if he was serious. I live like 5 miles from this place and they are trying to charge for delivery? Im trying support local business here, but I am not going to pay more for the dishwasher than I would online, and pay delivery fee on top of it, when online retailers ship for free. So two stars because of poor website management, what felt like a little bait from the other dishwasher, and the delivery fee.
DO NOT work with Sales person AndyVery disrespectful and very unprofessional I came in the store to purchase a fridge that was not up to Andys standards he called the brand cheap and he have it for sale ( so they have cheap products for sale )He never made eye contact with me as a customer and made me feel very unwelcome and disrespected like he have no time for you, like he have other important things to take care of.Andy cheap customer service.
My 90year old mother purchased a GE built in oven from you less than two weeks ago. The temperature on the oven is not constant. A repair person came out and was able to adjust it so that it is only 10 degrees off. He seemed to think that was good enough. My mom then requested a replacement and was told that “GE has to repair or authorize a replacement per the warranty. Now after spending $1600 for an oven installed by your people it should be exact when a temperature is set or it should be replaced by you. You should then deal with GE. Additionally, the owner’s son told her in church that he would stop by and see if there was anything he could do. He was supposed to be at her house at 5pm. It’s now 815pm and he has neither shown up nor called. This store has the worst customer service I have ever come across.
Washer dryer prices are higher than other places . Not all top of the line brands either .
Fantastic experience, Newton was extremely helpful and definitely recommend him!!
First you are standing all the time while the sales person is sitting. He never offered me a chair or water. He kept telling me this is not Macys where you can just buy and leave. It took him over 45 minutes to give me a quote for the several high end appliances I needed. All the while he sat and I stood. I dont blame him, its how they are setup and to me that is telling of their process. It is optimized for their staff efficiency and profitability. They are clearly not thinking of customer first. This is also reflected in the other reviews of their customer service. When I asked about the customer service bit the sales person said they strive to make the customer happy, unless of course the customer is being unreasonable! Ha!The price for the Wolf and Sub-Zero configs I chose was higher than what I found online on the official site. No reason for me to buy here.
Just wanted to say how much we appreciated the help from Estevan with our initial order and to report that the two gentlemen who delivered and installed our washer and dryer were careful, professional and knowledgeable. Everything went so quickly and so well. We are VERY pleased. I think this is our third time buying major appliances from you. You people are FANTASTIC. So happy that Custom Kitchens (Berkeley) recommended you.Great Price - Excellent Staff - Professional Installation - Quick Delivery AAA +++Margaret and Tom
Store policy says masks required. Half employees not wearing them, unless “you’re within 6 feet” of them. Enter at your own risk.
High end appliances for the home. A great selection of cook tops, ovens, ranges, refrigerators, microwaves, wine coolers, and other kitchen appliances beautifully displayed. Low key sales associates can assist with slection or just browse about to get ideas.
Work with Newton who is very knowledgeable, passionate and personable Answered my questions honestly especially am I selecting the right appliances. The pricing was the lowest of the three appliance stores I got quotes for. University is a great appliance store
We have purchased all kitchen as well as washer dryer. The selection is fantastic. The staff were great. Communication was clear and direct. I would recommend them without reservations. Only problem is you will have to wait for staff to assist you.
We went and bought a dryer this weekend and it was delivered today which is great. Luckily I had done my homework on line and basically knew what we wanted in terms of brand. The sales lady that helped us did not seem knowledgeable and seemed to even get frustrated with me. I have been in sales myself for over 20 years and even if you get frustrated with a customer you should never show it. Anyway I asked about the steam feature on the dryer since may reviews said it was a great feature. The sales lady told us we would not be able to use that feature unless we bought the washer to go with it which seemed odd to me that a company would build a feature in like since not everyone buys washers and dryers in pairs. We decided to get it anyway since the review and brand are really good and I am glad we did. You might think why since it had a feature we wouldnt be able to use. Well I heard them testing it in my garage and went to see how it was going. I said I was bummed to not have the steam feature and the installer looked at me like I was crazy and said it was all hooked up for steam and indeed it was. So the sales person clearly didnt know anything about the products or was trying to scam us into getting a new washer as well. Hopefully once we use the dryer we will like it but like I said I looked at all the reviews before I went in. I would NEVER recommend this store.
Good selection of high end appliances on the showroom floor. However employees dont feel welcoming and youre basically ignored until you can find somebody who isnt too busy behind a computer. Overheard a conversation between another customer and a sales rep and the rep was very condescending while trying to answer questions.
Jenn Air cook tops suffer from poor quality control. The glass component seriously degrades in a very short period of time. The problem is in the glass itself. No amount of buffing or cleaning will remedy the problem. Jenn Air will not cover the problem under warranty. As result, I would look elsewhere for a cook top.
The salesperson that waited on me seemed as if he wanted to do anything but help me. It could have been I wasnt spending enough money for him to spend time answering my questions. Ive never had that experience at University Electric. Ive bought many appliances there and have always been happy with the service.
Nice show room. Good variety of appliance choices. Loved the ask for sales assistance when needed system. No pressure from sales staff. The sales staff I have worked with in the past years have been friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Exceptional approach to the whole process of buying major appliances. Helpful, knowledgeable, professional personnel. I have bought from them several times and would do so again.
Excellent showroom for kitchen appliances with knowledgeable sales people. They have a wide range of different brands and models and they are laid out nicely.About the only issue I have is that there is not a chair nor a stool to sit out when you start to work the with the sales rep on finalizing details.
Great service and prices. Wonderful guys to work with.
Very professional with high quality items. I have always been very happy with our experience at University Electric.
Old school appliance store. They have good deals if you ask for them.Nice store layout.
High end and other appliances on display. Helpful staff.
The salesman took my order for a nugget ice machine over the phone and also charged my credit card. He told me they had contractors who would pick up the appliance at University Electric and install it.After weeks, I was told the contractor couldn’t do it and they would contact another contractor. He sent an employee out to preview the job and charged me $65 for his visit of taking measurements. When the second contractor finally admitted that he couldn’t get to the job for a couple of months, I decided to get my own subs. I called the salesman, Walter, and told him my son would be by to pick up the nugget ice machine. When my subs were ready to install the appliance we discovered that the machine that was given to us was not nugget but large ice cubes.
If you are looking for Kitchen appliances, look no further...hands down the best prices(they will price match), quality & service in the bay area. Adam Heintz has good knowledge of their products and really helped us when we were doing our kitchen remodel in selling us the best within our budget and was great at making every bit right whenever there were hiccups!
Purchased a Kitchenaid KBSD608ESS as part of a home upgrade option in our new home in Napa. Fridge was supplied and delivered by University Electric. It was Dead on Arrival when we moved in on July 3rd. A replacement was delivered on Thursday July 11th - that was also Dead on Arrival - and the installers damaged 3 of our brand new wood floor planks!!! A third replacement arrived today, July 16th - it was heavily damaged front and rear and I refused delivery. Appalling QC from Kitchenaid and appalling QC from University Electric. Fridge is over $10,000 and now waiting for fridge #4 to arrive. Im not holding my breath. All of our other appliances are Kitchenaid - we need to fridge to match.
A thru Z, very knowledgeable staff._____________________An update to 5 stars. Each return visit to University Electric has resulted in a new purchase to replace aged/failing appliances. This is largely due to the very friendly and experienced staff who do not push the upsale, competently answer each and every posed question. The sales team will do their best to price match current advertised pricing from other retail outlets.
University Electric has been serving our kitchen needs for over 20 years and they again proved themselves professional and knowledgeable. We are upgrading our Jennair appliances to Wolf products and the size differences have been a challenge. John Dragovic has been super helpful and patient. Their installers have been timely and professional.
Excellent source for home appliances. Friendly, no pressure place for a large selection of appliances.
The only place I know that has such a wide range of products available on the floor, all setup in realistic kitchen settings which gives a much better experience than other stores.
I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio washer from University Electric. Jim Heintz and John Dragovic were incredibly helpful and informative. There are no pressure sales tactics. They listen to what your needs are and best match the right appliances to you. I couldnt be happier with my experience with them.
Pretty good selection. Unhelpful staff though. The place was empty and there was a ton of people but not one person even said hello to me.
I just bought a dishwasher and Im gonna have to say that this was the easiest major appliance purchase I have ever made. I knew I wanted a Bosch. Jacob, the salesperson, showed me the 4 quality levels, 500, 800, and 800-plus. He dissuaded me from purchasing the 800, The pumps and mechanisms are all the same, so unless there is some feature you particularly like in the 800-series it would not be worth the extra money. Then he showed me the big differences between the 500 and 800-plus and we decided that the 800-plus at $400 more was not really worth it for the bells and whistles. Next he showed me the 4 choices for front panels, and explained that all choices were all the same price. So I ended up choosing my dishwasher in 15 minutes. He said he would match Loews price. I bought the washer, walked out to my car, and looked for the same washer at Lowes. I found a similar one (different front) for $50 less. Even though Loews does not carry the model with that particular front, Jacob cheerfully refunded my credit card, and re-charged with the reduced price. Delivery was done by someone who communicated well and who I would have been comfortable leaving alone in my house if I had had to run out. He spent a LONG time finding out why it was wet under my sink (bad faucet, my fault!) and did not charge me. While he was there, he replaced an outlet for a reasonable rate.Update. No surprises. Bought more stuff here. Always happy.
Bought a stove, Andy was a great help with lots of information about the product.
Wonderfulcustomer service and clean place, very good prices.
Good selection, nice staff, ok-ish prices
Great selection of high end appliances and a friendly staff that know their brands.
Good selection and knowledgeable sales staff
I am now quite unhappy with University Electric. We bought a Fisher Paykel dishwasher from them in 2003. We had to replace it in the spring of 2013 - an OK run. However, the handles on this dishwasher (less than 2 years old), have fatigued the plastic that they are attached to and have come off. First, University should not be selling Fisher Paykel products since many of the issues with all of their appliances are, apparently (from reviews), quite well known. Second, we should have been warned of the possibility of such a problem and possible directed to a different brand. And third - MOST IMPORTANT - dont tell us that it is out of warranty and there is nothing you can do. You could do something - its called CUSTOMER SERVICE - especially since we have spent thousands of dollars in your store to purchase multiple appliances - you CHOSE not to do anything including offering a reputable repair service. Seriously! We will NOT EVER use your store or purchase anything from you again even if we have to pay additional shipping to buy over the internet. One of the reasons brick and mortar stores are [supposed to be] better is for their customer service.
High end kitchen appliances, beautifully displayed. Friendly, attentive service.
Nice all high end great for remodeling your kutchem
Great service - very knowledgeable
Medinas appliance center in Watsonville has much better prices and service.
Shopping out appliances for new kitchen - these guys know the details!
Many appliance selections from US to European brands. The salesperson was very helpful and spent about 45minutes to answer your questions and concerns.
Giant collect with huge showroomNot the cheapest but definitely the place to go when comparing high end appliances
There is a reason theyve been around almost 100 years. Knowledgeable staff who are NOT based on commission, so they are all in it together and willing to help out.
Great selection and prices when you love to cook.
After signing in at the podium and waiting 20 minutes I left. I guess they didnt need my money. Lots of staff rushing around. None interested in talking to customers.
Low pressure, knowledgeable staff, good install follow through
Nice people. Good appliances
Salespeople are very with it, because they dont work for commission. Quality appliances offered.
Snooty staff. Expect to pay premium.
Lots of stuff, very expensive.
Wide selection of products. Youll need to sign up on the wait list to get a salespersons time.
