I got the milk tea + coffee ah boong with a macaron and red bean filling, and it was... 🤤 The taiyaki is crispy, balanced in sweetness. Red bean is fragrant, and milk tea/coffee soft serve is flavour, smooth, milky, and rich in texture. They also have other fillings such as custard and taro. I recommend to chow down on the soft serve as quickly as possible because it seems to melt a lot quicker than other ice cream. The custard filling is one I also recommend, and their matcha and ube soft serve flavours. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and service was speedy!
We ordered 2 taiyaki (fish cake), one red bean filling and one Nutella filling. First, the taste is nothing special, I have tried many different Taiyaki in many places such as in Taiwan, Japan, and SF Japan Town, it’s just fairly. I was very disappointed with the service at Valley Fair. It was not pretty much busy but I was waiting for a good amount of time. I was waiting long enough to figure out that the employees didn’t prepare the foods orderly, some how my order came after customers who came after me and they did order about 4 or more fishes. Then I asked if the employee could separate the 2 fishes either in 2 boxes or pouches so that the 2 kids could hold the foods. The employee told me she couldn’t because I just ordered 2 fishes. Oops, how nice! What if my sister and I ordered separately? Should we expect to hold the food with barehand?
I love this place! There ice cream is so good!!!
Great treat. Love the Nutella and red bean filling.
So good I have to get it twice, in one day lol. Both the Ahboong and taiyakis are bomb.
First time visit around 1pm on 7/5.So disappointed since the taiyaki we got were HORRIBLE. Not fresh at all. It was dry and hard. Go to the other location in Cupertino, friends. Trust me. It’s 1000x better. That soft chewy mochi texture waffle cone…..I do wanna give one star to the flavor options there at this Valley Fair location. They have different “flavor of the week” options which I may go back for but definitely not getting the taiyaki.
They always have the best cashiers. I like their fish waffles more than their ice cream. Short wait time!
Came here to see what all the hype is about and yes, the matcha black sesame is indeed very good. But what is super annoying are the long lines and confusion over the menu items - cup, fish or fish in a cup. I would come back but perhaps after the exuberance settles down a bit. Dont worry, at the Cupertino Main Street square there are four or five other drink/dessert places to quench your sweet tooth.
It was really good and the staff were very friendly
Awesome!
Super delicious, the wait wasn’t as bad as I thought considering the line and the ice cream definitely made it worth the wait. The staff were kind and the ice cream was ready very quickly after ordering. I got the Oreo ice cream and it was deliciously creamy and soft.
Great Taiyaki
I LOVE SOMISOMIs softserved ice cream and taiyaki! My favorite soft served is the sesame and I love the custard filling taiyaki! I would recommend getting it upside down if youre a slow eater because the ice cream would melt and your taiyaki can get messy. 5 stars from me and my inner fat girl lol
Delicious treat
Super understaffed for a hectic environment. I have always witness this one specific tall Asian black hair girl opening and she would always kill it, she was the only worker that constantly working 4 positions at once cashier, swirling, making the taiyaki waffle and toppings. YOU DID AN AMAZING JOB! Food = 4/5, Staffing = 1/5 The manager should definitely hire more people!
I see a lot of reviews thinking this is the Cupertino location. This one is in the Valley Fair Mall people. Compared to the Cupertino location this location doesnt taste as good, could be that its not new to me anymore. After you order youre given a pager but you have to stand near the pickup counter because theyll call your ice cream flavor and you have to go up and tell them if you want any toppings (free). We were just waiting at the benches for the pager and after waiting for forever, we found out someone else took our order.
If you want to have Somi Somi, go to the location in Cupertino instead. It is hard to find parking in the mall, only one employee running the store, the waffle was not done enough and was raw inside.
Had a milk and matcha swirl soft serve in a taiyaki filled with custard. So this form of icecream known as ah-boong, and taiyaki are the only items in the menu. We bought the ah-boong in a cup, so the taiyaki is placed on the icecream cup in an upside manner. Loved the icecream especially with the slightly crunchy and soft taiyaki. Also I ordered for a couple of chocolatey toppings which added my favorite flavor to the soft serve. The first time we went there was a queue and we didnt have time to wait. The next time it was friday evening but there was no rush luckily.
Personally feel it is overrated given the fact I saw so many people piling up in front of another somi somi in Cupertino. But it is still decent ice cream experience.
I was excited to see that the mall location has more ice cream flavors than the one in Cupertino. I got the milk tea flavor and tried the coffee flavor as well. Both are great! Creamy soft serve that isn’t icy and it’s lactose free (except the milk flavor)! I love their taiyaki here too. Since I like my taiyaki crispy my fav thing to do is get a cup of ice cream and get the taiyaki on the side instead of getting the cone, but that’s just my preference.
Got matcha ah boong and it absolutely tasted amazing!
Got a Oreo and machta ice cream with a taykiaki custard filling. Ice cream pretty standard p good matcha flavor. Really liked the pastry tho and custard filling
There was a long line and they grossly undercooked my taiyaki and led to my family getting pretty bad stomach aches as this was their first time trying and didn’t realize it was undercooked. Employees need to really focus
Its fine. Not amazing. Just fine.
I was looking forward to the opening of this location, mainly because they would be offering more flavors like their SoCal locations. The soft serve and everything tastes good and all, but the service here is horrible. I understand that this is a new location and the lines arent going to move as fast at other locations because they are still learning the flow, but the workers are just plain rude and dont care. I had ordered two ah boongs (and because I paid about $12, I know I didnt just order a cup) but when I went to pick up, they gave me just the cups of soft serve. I had already sent my teenage daughter to go get in line for ramen nagi (whos line was also very long) and she had taken the receipt with her. So I asked if I can show them the payment from my credit card on my phone. They said that it doesnt matter and that I didnt order it. I was already impatient by then and got frustrated and told them, Ill just pay the difference, even though I had already paid the right price. The male employee told me I have to get back in the LONG line, that I had already waited over 20 minutes in, to do that. At that point I was irritated over it, said forget it and left. Despite them having more flavors here, I think Ill just stick to their Cupertino location.
Delicious 😋
Tasty and service was pretty fast.
The staff did not give me custard cream on the ice.... Should have checked it
Pretty tasty ice cream
Great soft serve
Cute ice cream 🍦
My personal believe, its overrated.
