When I entered, the owner Mike welcomed me with a smile warm enough to shine through his mask. As a college student, I told him upfront that I was on a budget. While Mattress Firm was nice, it was clear they were just throwing a mattress at my feet and expecting me to buy it. I went into Mattress Nation after our family had been displaced due to the fires in the SCZ mountains. And we urgently needed to get beds for our kids.Dave was a phenomenal help. Incredibly nice and helped think through various options. He let me take one mattress same day and had the other two delivered at our temporary residence by the middle of the next day. In what was a whirlwind of chaos for our family they really helped us out. I will definitely be back as we need to replace all of our mattresses in our house after the smoke clears.

The folks at Mattress Nation made purchasing a new mattress, easy and painless. There was no hard sell or attempts to up-sell me. They were helpful without being overbearing. Do you know the difference between NOT WANTING to get out of bed and WANTING to stay in bed?? I do. I now WANT to stay in bed even when theres nothing I dread in the outside world. My bed is just THAT comfortable.And I wouldnt have this bed if it werent for the great service and value we got from Ryan at Mattress Nation! When you are sleeping well, your whole life gets better. Anyway, go see Ryan - he is incredibly knowledgeable about all things bedding (Did you know some people sleep on sheets made with seaweed?!).We had an eight year old full size foam mattress from Amazon that we thought was pretty good. Our biggest complaints were that it was too small and that it retained heat overnight. Ryan fixed both of those issues for us and gave us a great deal on our new bed, base, cover and sheets. We are confident we made the right decision to upgrade based on all the information he (sincerely) shared with us. He took the time to answer ALL of our questions in detail and there were a lot of them (when youre making a big investment, you ask a LOT of questions). I was moving to Santa Cruz to attend college. I needed a bed set up in the new house the same day. I looked at their online store, and couldnt find a mattress that they could deliver to me on the same day. I called this store, and David picked up. He said he had some options for me that he could deliver to me on the same day, and told me to come into the store in person. He helped me find a mattress within my budget in 10 minutes, and delivered it later that day.

We had a great experience. We did a lot of research on the internet and went to different mattress stores in Santa Cruz area. This store was on our list and we went there twice. First time David was very friendly, knowledgable and did not push to sell a specific mattress which we liked. Then, second time Mike, showed the same professional attitude and honesty. When I walked into mattress nation, I didn’t expect much. I thought it was gunna be just walking into any mattress place. When my dad and I walked in we said that we needed a mattress quickly cause I had just moved in and we needed it to be within our budget of $500-1000. The man who helped us showed us a variety of mattresses and helped us find the one that fit me best. It was a $1200 mattress on its own. He said “let me work some magic”. He found a discount on the mattress then put together our package. The mattress, box spring, metal frame, mattress cover, AND free delivery all came to a total post tax of $800. I wasn’t quiet sure what type of bed I was looking for but he was super helpful.I didn’t feel like I was being pressured to buy the most expensive items nor to buy extra add ons. This young man who helped us usually works as a supervisor in the Watsonville warehouse. He was awesome, courteous, professional and very knowledgeable. So far, not so good. Education during the purchase process was nonexistent and given the fact the platform I was sold was different from that which was under the floor sample (also something I was not informed of) I find my mattress very unsatisfactory to my needs. Both my husband and I have serious physical disabilities, of which I informed the sales rep, but that was not discussed with me. (Ive since visited three other mattress stores, each of which informed me they always fully discuss the needs, and sleep habits of their customers.) Also, even though I purchased a Cal.King mattress (not split) I was sold two twin platforms (other stores could not figure that one out). The installation process was a nightmare for us and, although the store promised to send someone out next time they were in there area I have yet to hear from them some 5 or 6 weeks out. I guess I have to avail myself of the comfort guarantee process, i.e., exchanging the mattress to get the comfort we need. Right now we get up in the mornings worse off than we were on our previous TempurPedic mattress. Wed have been better off just keeping our old mattress. Will update review after I do so. The moral of my story is: either the Santa Cruz store does not train its staff well, or, my sales rep, Adam, is someone to be avoided at all costs.
