The reviews of Santa Cruz Optometric Center are extremely harsh. Ive been going here for over a decade and their care and compassion is top notch. They are always able to get appointments and everyone who works there is kind, considerate, and professional.
I have insurance that isnt accepted here but I keep coming back (5+ years) because of their hours (open on some holidays) and because of how easy and willing they are to fit me in last minute. Ive had 3 ulcers that have each required immediate attention. Theyve fit me in before regular clinic hours, between patients and at the end of clinic. They usually have my contacts in stock (great for a procrastinator like myself) and every doctor Ive had has been great.
It was easy calling in an appointment for an eye exam. I had Dr. Prisbe, she was friendly and informative. Most likely will come back here again for another check up and I would recommend this place to others.
I love Santa Cruz Optometric and Spex! Ive been going to both for many years and have found the doctors, receptionists and glasses people to all be very professional, helpful and kind. I recommend them without reservation.
The same day my husband posted a poor review below, we received a call from Rachel with Spex who apologized profusely and explained some of what they were dealing with that day. She, in consultation with the owner, offered to make things right and we very much appreciate that. While it doesnt change the fact that we had a less than ideal experience trying to get glasses for our son, we will chalk this up to an off day for everyone involved at Santa Cruz Optometric/Spex and give them another chance based on their willingness to accept feedback and make improvements. We already had a better experience picking up the new glasses. Thanks!
I have had nothing but great service here. The optometrist is friendly. They staff in Spex is knowledgeable and have helped me pick out many good frames. My only complaint is that I wish they had more fram options.
Fake nice people should never be trusted. The receptionist was so fake by pretending that she was nice that it poured out like sticky goo. Reminds me of the people that are NOT LOCALS. I was so disgusted that rescheduling to make a different appointment was not an option. I ended up making a different appt with someone else.
When the prescription they gave me turned out to be wrong, they blamed me. Even though they filled their own prescription and I had never worn glasses before they tried to convince me it was my fault.
We chose SC Optometric specifically because they carry unbreakable Miraflex kids glasses for our five year old. Doctor was young, not really comfortable with kids, and made us come back for a second exam for dilation then wait over the 20 min dilation period while our two little boys grew increasingly stir crazy and bored with their pile of old toys. When finally finished over an hour later, she took us next door to their small boutique glasses shop “Spex” where they refused to order the Miraflex we wanted and pressured my son into some other hard plastic brand that will surely break and came with a mismatched lilac band. To top it all off, the receptionist came in and yelled at my younger son for spinning a stool while we were again waiting forever for them to dig around in their drawers for kids glasses, which they clearly do not fit often. The shop is tiny with nowhere to sit, full of decorative breakables, and as a whole NOT family-friendly. Taking our family of four’s business elsewhere.
Kind helpful people, never had an issue with scheduling a checkup or ordering contacts through them
Over all really happy with my eye care
