Heriz has clean four (4) rugs and refurbished one of them after I came to ABQ in 2020. The washing seemed to brighten the colors especially on the darker colored ones. One quite old Blouch rug had an ugly miss-matched patch about 2 X 2 inches. The refurbishment was a very good match in both design and colors. I doubt anyone could find it!
Heriz has cleaned my roomsized handmade rugs, silk and wool, including setting the dyes so they do not run. I have used them for two decades. The service is good and the cost with pick up snd delivery is fair.
The chemical odor emitting from on a large rug drying outside next to my home today is overpowering and giving me a headache “again.” The owner has all her windows and doors closed. I wonder why! This is a residentially zoned area and a rug cleaning business has no place here. Thank you Mayor Webber for attempting to enforce the code and ordinance laws which the owner ignores. PS I bought my house because Heriz Rugs advertised they didn’t use harsh chemicals.
I am a little shocked reading the negative reviews. I for one LOVE Shahin. She took ALL of my antique Persian rugs, carefully cleaned them, and made the necessary restorations without damaging the value of these heirlooms. I did research on Shahin first before I handed over these valuable possessions. Shahin had extensive experience in rug restoration for museums in Santa Fe and in Tehran. She came highly recommended by a locally famous architect as well.Yes, Heriz Oriental Rug Services took all my very large rugs and gave them back one-by-one as the very long and arduous process was completed. (We have Persian rugs on top of our beautiful oak floors in every room of the house, except the kitchen and bathrooms.) This process indeed took 3-plus years because all the intricate restoration was done meticulously by hand. I now can pass these rugs down to my son when I die, just as my parents did for me.It is not the monetary value that concerns me so much as the sentimental value. Under no circumstances would I take any valuable antique rug (which is a piece of art in my opinion) to anyone in New Mexico except Shahin and her staff. She has trained her employees to respect the quality of the rugs, and to treat the rugs as the valuable piece of artwork that they are. Yara is an amazing talented young lady who knows all about these rugs as she was trained under Shahin. Yaras mother who worked on my rugs has a trained eye and honed skills for such a talent.Shahins prices were very reasonable. I was pleased with doing business LOCALLY and with someone with the expertise and patience that was required for my beautiful antique Persian rugs. Also, Shahin and her staff did not use harsh chemicals as was alluded in one review. My rugs were cleaned with a gentle process so as not to disturb the natural colors of the fiber. Furthermore, I went to the shop on many occasions to see the cleaning process and the repair process that was used on some of my rugs.
The people at Heriz Rugs are true professionals. My rugs always come back looking amazing. Shahin and her staff handle them with an eye to quality and detail that can’t be beat. If you want to work with real experts at a decent price, I definitely recommend you come here!
Strong chemicals are coming out of the back of Heriz Oriental Rug cleaning. I wouldn’t want to live with a carpet that they have serviced, nor would I allow children to crawl on one. They advertise that they are not using chemicals for their rug cleaning but I don’t believe it at all, the off gassing is too powerful, plus the people who are doing the cleaning are protecting themselves with facial masks (this can be seen when they bring the rugs outside to dry). If it is toxic for the workers, why would it be safe for the customers? I would recommend against using Heriz Oriental Rug Services.
Best rug cleaning service I’ve ever used. 2 rugs that really needing help. Fair prices, honest and timely. Couldn’t ask for better service. John P.
We have been clients of Heriz Oriental rugs for over 20 years and have had numerous rugs analyzed and cleaned at their location. No toxic chemicals are ever used in the process and we have always been nothing but completely satisfied. We will continue to use their services into the future and recommend them highly to our friends and neighbors.
Ive used Shahin for my rugs since moving from South Florida in 2002, and I could not recommend her and her business highly enough. She is always knowledgeable and professional, and my rugs are always returned to me in beautiful and clean condition.I stretch & do yoga on them daily, and theres never been any chemical odor or residue of any kind.Shes gone out of her way to help me on several occasions, even coming over to determine which rugs would look best in each room. Its personal touches like that that impress me, and that is why I am a repeat customer.Oriental rugs are an expense and an investment. I would not trust mine with anyone else.
Heriz did a great job cleaning my rugs! They dont use any chemicals, just biodegradable soap and vinegar. I can highly recommend them. Thank you Heriz!
The owner, Shahin, is a very knowledgeable and work done at Heriz reflects a high quality standard. The pricing is reasonable for the work done. I have had a wide range of textiles worked on and cleaned here including Navajo rugs and South American ponchos. The work included repair and reweaving of veg dyed pieces. The results were excellent.
I am puzzled by the negative reviews that I see on this site. I wonder upon what basis they were made? I have been an enthusiastic customer of Shahins since 2000, probably even earlier. We researched for a non-toxic rug cleaning service and discovered Heriz. I am a person with chemical sensitivities. I could never have done my exercises nor played with my grandchildren on our rugs if there had been any toxic chemicals used to clean or treat my rugs. I have lived with our freshly cleaned rugs in our home with absolutely no negative health consequences or off-gassing smells. Furthermore, Shahin and her employees have been gracious, generous, friendly and extremely professional. I highly recommend their business.
Shahen of Hertz Rugs has been providing rug cleaning services for us since the 80s.. Initially we were concerned about having someone use toxic chemicals on on our rugs. Shahen assured us that she had always used toxic free methods in her cleaning process. To this day we feel comfortable this is still true. Its is nice to know our grandchildren and our pets can crawl on our rugs without being exposed to chemicals. We would recommend her services without hesitation.Dr Edward and Rachel Williams
I was impressed with the professionalism of this business. I called three businesses for a quote, and Heriz answered my questions in great detail and the prices were reasonable. I would recommend this business.
I cannot understand the mean spirited reviews posted here! I have been a client for 18 years and have never experienced any negative issue with their performance. My 9 oriental rugs and 3 vintage Navajo rugs, whether sent for cleaning &/or repair, have always returned in beautiful, clean, odor free condition. Shahin went above and beyond to help when my home sold, I became ill and the planned 3 month clean & store turned into 3 years due to my declining health. When I finally relocated to a much smaller home she took of her personal time to help figure out which rugs might fit. The others were left in her care until I can arrange for their sale. I was never charged for any service other than what we had agreed upon 3 years earlier. Her primary concern was to help make the whole experience as positive as possible and her assistance was invaluable to me. I highly recommend her AND business without any reservation.
I moved next door to Heriz Rugs 4 years ago. Before I bought my home, I checked the Heriz web site and read that they used all green products to clean and moth proof rugs. That is a lie. The owner claimed that Permithrin was used to moth proof rugs. Not true. The Department of Agriculture came out and determined the owner was using a pesticide that was not approved for use in New Mexico. How many pets, babies, children, immune comprised people and so on have lived on these rugs? She has made me sick for 4 years. My bedroom windows and balcony are inches where pesticide is sprayed on rugs on the drying deck and off-gas pesticide for days. The owner is zoned residential but was allowed to add a business addition by the permit department. When I asked the permit department about this, Mike Purdy, Division Director Land Use bullied me and made my own permitting very difficult. Avoid.
Heriz Oriental Rug Service has always been the business for me to trust my valuable Rugs. Professional and knowledgeable Staff!
Ms. Medghalchi has tended to my oriental rug is a most professional manner. She mended and cleaned it carefully with such care that only a truly knowledgeable person possibly can. She gave me the place of origin, year it was manufactured, & the exact name of the method used. It interested me because it was a gift from my daughter. The rug required fragile care because of its age and (regretted) neglect ... pets anyone? The restoration required was extensive, and Ms. Medghalchi proved her ability to complete such a task. The beauty and colors restored are impecable. It is presently a showcase and heirloom for my grandchildren. Her training and knowledge gave life to a favorite piece of my family. Most of all, her business acumen gave me the opportunity to afford the costly results such a fine museum piece demands.Ms. Medghalchi has the patience to work on fine fragile pieces that professional artists of fine pieces must hold. My family and I are extremely pleased with the outcome of my beloved rug, and with Ms. Medghalchi’s handling of our agreement to complete the surmountable task.Take your articles to her, you’ll be pleased with the results. Yara, her assistant and right-hand lady, is also a blessing to work out any problem that may arise ... in the end, you must be happy with everything ... right? I promise you will!Jo Ann Eastham Tapia
