Definitely a diner feel in terms of menu and decor. When we went in, there was no one to meet us at the door or desk . Not seeing signage to the contrary, we seated ourselves. After a wait of several minutes, we were greeted by a man who sincerely apologized for the wait. To summarize, we had the New York strip with roasted vegetables and red potatoes and the salmon with orange butter sauce with like vegetables. Steak was cooked perfectly when ordered medium, was of good quality and required only salt and pepper. Potatoes were perfect in texture and browning. Vegetables were a little bit on the dry side. Salmon was spot on with regard to cooking temperature, resulting in a flaky portion with flavorful sauce served on side. Still giving our experience a perfect score overall, clarified butter drizzled over all the above would have set a super benchmark for others to follow. Impressed with our waiter, ( alone and doing it all), and quality/quantity of our orders, we ordered lemon meringue pie to go. It was great and filling. May be two servings for some. I recommend. Just be patient and youll receive good food and service.
They food is really tasty and the service is always good too. One thing I don’t like is that they never pick up the phone!!! But I understand because they are super busy.
My friend and I stopped by for lunch and er both very much enjoyed our food. A good size portion. You wont have to worry about leaving hungry
This place is amazing. I have been going here about 20 years now and I have not ever been served anything I didnt love. The food is so good with large portions. U leave stuffed :) if u have never been it is a must go and try for yourself.
The Piner Cafe has always been a good spot to grab breakfast on the weekend if you dont mind waiting. They are extremely popular.I have had a great experience every time Ive been in except the last time. There was not one thing I can put my finger on but it was all just a bit off. Just a bunch of small things that all added up.It started when we walked in and hadnt been acknowledge for a while but been seen, multiple times. Then finally was told that there was a sign up sheet... outside. No pen or pencil. Finally got on the list, only waited about 10 minutes for a table, not bad.Our server came buy and brought our coffee then took our order. The menus looked old and have prices crossed out and written with pen.The food wasnt as good as it use to be, it came out luke warm, the portions were a bit smaller, the coffee was a bit weaker... So I guess it was more than one thing that I could put my finger on. When our food came out, it was almost tossed on the table. The knife for my chicken fried steak landed in the gravy.Just everything was a bit off. It sounds as if Im nit picking but these are things that should be addressed. The menus look as if they are printed on site (or home printer) so theres no excuse for menus to be in a state of disrepair. As I said, I have always had a pleasant experience here so I did give them four stars and Im sure well give them another go.If you like my reviews, hit the Thumbs Up!!Wanna see more places that I go, things that I eat, and stuff that I do??Then...Follow and Share@WhatsEatingMoTwitter - IG - PodcastOur Podcast is on hiatus and will return soon. Great place. 1st time dining there and it was great! Alex was very pleasant. Food was very good!
I love little cafés like this. The server was welcoming and nice, and you can tell they had regulars. I ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of hasbrowns and my friend ordered French toast. She loved it. Im not a huge fan of the gravy probably because Im not a huge ham person and I thought it would be the classic sausage. Everything is at a good price for the food as well! Definitely plan to go again.
Food was better than expected, maybe because our expectations were lessened by the tired look of the place. Egg white omelet with bacon and brie was terrific. Servers were super nice and attentive.
Very decent breakfast. Good portions. Well cooked. Clean inside. Understaffed like so many, but they work hard. Well be back.
No recomendable! Server had some friends over and of course their food was served right away. We waited almost an hour to be served our food. We should have left as soon as we got the the menus hanged over (menu book all moldy between pages) and flies OMG landing on your food on your face . Never coming back
We were seated in the far right corner table the windows were beyond FILTHY we ate in a sespool of flies we gobbled down the food just to get out of there. Food and service was good they just need to clean it makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like
The food was delicious. The service was very good I could and would recommend this place for my friends
Best place to eat in Santa Rosa great price lots of food friendly people and just all around great its off liner Rd in Santa Rosa
Great food & great service every time. Probably one of the best customer service experiences weve ever had, and it is that way consistently.
We got food to go and each for burgers that were incredible! The salad was great as well, bur something about the meat 😍
Awesome old school diner.Great service and Breakfast menu.
Great customer service. Fast and had what we wanted
Nice and straightforward; that’s Piner Cafe. American style, this restaurant is impeccable. The coffee was clean and bright, thanks to regular cleaning of the basket and urn. Came here straight from Kaiser and will be back.
Classic diner with great breakfast. Awesome omelette and country potatoes. Ill be back soon!
Great menu with a variety of diner-style options. Omelette was perfectly made and well portioned. Good food, good service, fast. Recommended.
We have eaten at Piner café for over six years. It is the best food in the Northbay. Literally everything they make is delicious and delivered with a smile and huge portions.Small business, family owned. We are moving to Florida next week and drove over 45 minutes from Marin to have our last Berger here. It was worth every single bite and I hope we find a place as good as Piner in Florida.
Great food and nice folks. The furniture is bare bones incl. plastic folding chairs.
The kind of place locals go and workers get their lunches. Fresh, generous and definitely not pulled out of a freezer. Burgers are juicy and delicious. Breakfast is a favorite.
One of the best in town for breakfast or lunch. Biscuits and gravy or the pesto burger are my favorites! Super friendly staff provide excellent service!
My new favorite diner. The country fried steak is my go to!
Great chicken fried steak, country style potatoes and bacon!
This place has the best country potatoes on the west coast, not to mention everything on their menu is good. As I am a sucker for breakfast foods, Id recommend their raisin bread french toast as it is a unique and wonderful item worth every bite.
This place is awesome and there are many times in my family love it
Lots of good local food!! Come here if youre hungry in Sonoma valley!!
I go to this restaurant a lot! This is my favorite restaurant to dine. I visit this spot at least once a month. The meals are excellent, the workers are friendly and the charge is decent. I enjoy meeting in this restaurant to have a good dinner.
The egg casserole with green chilis is amazing!
Second worst place to get breakfast. the service is good. everything else sucks. this is the place for food. cant believe anything like this survives.
Me and my girlfriend go there they have great chicken fried steak. Is awesome service with a smile
Awesome breakfast. Great service
Huge portions as always. Fresh fresh fresh.
Love this place! Everything I have ever had here is excellent!
Delicious American breakfast food. Cute small resturant with a diner feel. The staff gave good food advice and were genuinely nice people.Got the stuffed French toast with fruit which was sweet, and came with a generous side of butter. The hashbrowns were homemade and were some of the best resturant hashbrowns I have had yet! Overall a lovley place.
Slow service. Good breakfast I hear.
Good, fresh food and plenty of it. Reasonable prices and cheery service
Fantastic old-school Cafe with a nice assortment of American food made with love. Ive eaten here well over a decade and product quality and consistency are high. Large portions to where youre almost always guaranteed to be bringing food home with you. The people that work here are the greatest and service is always excellent. Its run by a committed small group of people that take personal pride in being the best at what they do. Thank-you Piner 4 staying with us and helping us get through this covid-19 pandemic.
Super small quaint place, great home made food with an awesome waiter!!!
The fries are the delicious. Great little dive diner.
Great food! Great service!
Delicious food and good mimosas! Charlie provided great service!
First time there good breakfast, would return if I wasnt passing through
The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious 😋
Weve tried a few items from here that were ok but today theyve fully earned an awesome review. I work night shift and was craving dinner food this morning. I called them without much hope that Id be able to get a burger at 8 am but to my surprise they offered it. The woman who took my order and helped me once I arrived was very nice and let me customize my order to basically give this burger the works. And boy did they deliver! I havent had a burger this good in some time. Nice work guys, you made this nurse very happy! 😁
Loved this restaurant. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and in general wonderful. The food was DELICIOUS! It was so good the first time earlier in the week, we made it a point to stop there AGAIN on the way home from our vacation week. And YES it was just as good again. So if you are in the Santa Rosa area give it a try. Its on the corner of Piner Road and Piner Place.
Delicious food!We had been driving for 3 hours before getting there and were ready for some good food; and here it was. We started with clam chowder. Being a Friday, it was the soup de jour. Usually I expect and get potato soup, but this was really real clam chowder. Large pieces of clams, some in every bite and the broth was warm and seasoned rather well. I like mine with a touch more pepper than the average person. So once I had added that, the chowder was perfect. I was actually sad when I finished and thought of ordering another bowl, when my main meal arrive. I ordered the steak sandwich with potato salad. It arrived with a large amount (enough for two people) of a mustards flavored salad and loads of celery pieces. It was wonderful! The crunch was fabulous. The only thing Id change would be to add some pickle juice or relish. I love a pickly mustard potato salad. The steak was thick and a perfect medium rare. Lettuce, tomato, and onions on a French roll. Steak was actually big enough to cover all the bread. Yummy 😋My companion had steak and eggs. Eggs were a perfect sunnyside up. The steak was another perfect medium rare. He did not even need to salt or pepper.I think my favorite food item was my tea. It was real iced tea (not from a mix). I had 2 refills! The wait staff were very pleasant. If our waitress didnt something, there was someone else there shouting out the answer. We were there for a late lunch. It was not busy and service was bountiful. We were greeted sweetly and there was a full house of smiles 😃There is a small parking lot and street parking.Dont let the building fool you. It looks like a whitewashed old brick building that used to hold some other business, but inside its a great kitchen with good diner style food and friendly service!
Super cute place. Great staff and amazing food
The spinach omelette was wonderful and fluffy. Excellent country potatoes too.
Food was hot.And the service was fast, only one server and she was super fast and very nice.
Great breakfast place. Sausage & eggs w/ hashbrowns, salsa after fasting blood draw at Kaiser Lab.
Piner Cafe is a staple for our family. Amazing breakfast and lunch, plus the staff is always friendly
Great food and service and sorting outside was pleasant 😊
Best burger Ive had in a long time!!
Pulled up before work and got breakfast and wow this was amazing the customer service is great the food was wonderful will come back again soon
Really great breakfast spot with friendly service.
Always great food.been going for years. Miss the old serving team . service a little slow but place was packed.
A great little local restaurant, the breakfast and lunch looked great.
Great American style diner.
Busy. Burgers good
Not good experience. Breakfast rushed uncooked hashbrowns...
Its ok cheap ingredients kinda over priced. Iots of better place in santa rosa
The good ole Piner Cafe has been around for a long time and with a few owners, but are their meals so good. Our favorite dinner is Piner’s fried chicken. We put it right up there with Knott’s Berry Farm’s fried chicken dinner. Great light and crisp crust. Piner’s does chicken right, because its chicken fried steak breakfast is another winner!
Great food and great staff that served me.
A great neighborhood cafe. Many menu options. Wonderful quality, service, and value. Even comfortable outdoor seating. Highly recommend.
The Piner Cafe is a Santa Rosa institution. Regardless of the name restaurants in and around the area, there is no better place for a weekend (or weekday!) breakfast than the Piner Cafe. Even though you are required to eat outside because of Covid, the food is still hot and well-prepared, the coffee excellent, and the portions more than generous. And if you cant finish your meal, theyll gladly five you a take home box to keep your meal fresh until you get home. The serve staff are friendly and go out of their way to check on you during your meal. This is a location on Piner Road in SR that deserves local support. With all the restaurants going under because of the onerous Covid restrictions, they have done all they can to make it safe for customers while still doing what they do best: serving good food and plenty of it for their customers. Support them!
A few months ago my girlfriend went to Piner Cafe to pick up some breakfast. I ordered a breakfast burrito, thats what I call a burrito!!Its Big!!! Comes with fruit but I always get hash browns instead. Me and my friend stop several times a week to pick up burritos on our way to work. I dont know much about the rest of the menu, but I know the staff is very friendly. They fixed the place up during the stay at home order, new paint and more, place looks nice. Outside seating for the pandemic, or Order for pick-up, fast and convenient.
Local favorite when Im in Santa Rosa. I ordered the hash and eggs and was overloaded with food. Support your local diners, good old fashioned American breakfast!
Real food like it used to be!
Passing through on an overnight trip to the coast, we stopped in Santa Rosa near the Piner Cafe. They anticipated our needs for a wheelchair space before we even came in the door, and I observed on one occasion our server asking the veteran server about some regular customers and how they like their food. The service was simple and familiar/friendly.The food came in ample portions, probably too much for some. I had the salmon, and the citrus glaze was delicious, and helped the salmon which was slightly overcooked, but flavorful by itself. The rest of our food was similarly better than average in flavor with really good, fresh ingredients, but diner quality cooking/presentation.Overall, I would not hesitate to add this to my dining out rotation if I were local, and if you are just visiting the area, I would recommend this as a restaurant well worth trying.
We called in 6 separate take out orders for lunch from work and everyone of them was perfection. Not only were they accurate, they were hot and delicious. The waitress not only had everything boxed up and ready to go, she rang up our orders as to save us money!Definitely recommending this place!I only have 4 out of 5 stars because the owners had the opportunity to name the place The Piner Diner and chose Piner Cafe 🤨
Service is always excellent, as is the food. Indoor dining
The food was great. The only problem we had was that on one of the orders we asked for hashbrowns and received country potatoes. On the other order we asked for a fruit plate and we did not receive it. By the time we realized the error we were already 20 minutes away.Long story short check your order and make sure you have everything before you leave. The food was great as always.
So nice to eat at a spot where the staff are all happy. This place is hopping, lots of regulars. The breakfast menu is huge and so are the portions. Your coffee never gets low or cold, always someone to offer you a refill. The service and food was so good we felt wed stepped back in time. Lunch and dinner menus looked so good well be back.
This place is a sleeper for sure. Kind of tucked away, kind of unassuming. But man oh man it is THE place to go for delicious diner food. Every single time I come here with Boyfriend, we leave with our bellies full, with leftovers (sometimes), and a bill thats about $30. I am a very picky eater, and unfortunately I can find something to complain about in any given meal, but this place is different. No complaints! The attentive waitresses call their patrons pet names like darling or sweetheart which sometimes is a turn-off, but here I am very partial to it. When there are a few servers working, it seems like they really work as a team, rather than each person having their own section that they wont stray from. The turkey burger plus bacon and mushrooms and pepper Jack... my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Maybe the best Ive ever had. The Cali melt: sliced turkey, avocado, bacon, cheese, and tomato on sourdough, toasted. Also delicious. Their fries: crinkly and delicious, and a whole lot of them on the plate! If you havent given this place a try, you are really missing out on a great, inexpensive meal.
We are visiting family in the area for Christmas and decided to try this place for breakfast. I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and it was awesome. Portions were large, food was hot and fresh. My wife enjoyed a breakfast burrito close to the size of a football! I saw a few different dishes go by including some tasty looking burgers. Place seems like mostly locals as the greetings were personal and they knew many customers by name. While we were strangers to the place we received the same hospitality as everyone else and felt comfortable. Go check it out it was an excellent meal with great service. Merry Christmas.
Have been eating here for years as a visitor and happy to come more often as a resident. Food and staff are wonderful, try their chili rellano casserole. Right now, during Covid-19 restrictions the dining room is open with appropriate spacing. It was wonderful to eat there for my husbands birthday a few days ago.
Great breakfast spot. Family loved the waiter and the food. Had to eat in the parking lot, due to covid, but glad we could go regardless.
Such a cute place. Great staff, amazing high quality food for a good price. This was a refuge for us visiting from Los Angeles and not being familiar with the area. Typical small town diner atmosphere. Highly recommend!!!!! Try the stuffed french toast, you wont be disappointed!
Very friendly and attentive, food was good too !
Alex is the best
Really good food. I had the Cajun sausage with eggs and home potatoes. My wife had the cob salad with blue cheese she loved it. My sister in law had the Buffalo chicken salad and said it was amazing. Very friendly staff also
Maybe it was an off day, Ill give it another try.
Best classic diner in Santa Rosa.
