Lovely Sunday brunch at Sunnyside! They were very busy, but to our delight everyone was waiting to sit inside so we were seated almost immediately since we were fine sitting on the patio. They have huge umbrellas and the tables are completely shaded. There was a nice breeze so it was a very comfortable dining experience.Service was good and the food was great. I had the Sunnyside Open Face Omelette and it was scrumptious! Great flavors and very well made. My husband had the Sunnyside Eggs Benedict with bacon on the side. His was delicious and the bacon was perfect.Coffee was great and they even gave my husband an iced tea to-go when we were paying the check. The restaurant is in a great location, and the servers and host were delightful. Highly recommended!
Best breakfast we have had in years! The ambience is delightful. Katie was our attentive waitress. She was pleasant, kind, and is an excellent communicator. The coffee was delicious. Meals were incredible. We seriously talked about moving to Sarasota so we could be regular customers here!If youre trying to decide where to eat- pick this place!!! Youll be glad you did!
First time Ive been to this restaurant and it was fantastic!! Seriously! I feel like it might be the best breakfast spot Ive been to in all of Sarasota and Bradenton. Really cute inside and out 💖 Im very excited to go back and try everything on the menu! Traditional Benedict was incredible and the pork chops were the bomb! Awesome place you should definitely try!!
We enjoyed everything, good food for sure.. great little place. Service was little slow but they were pretty busy. I think everyone can wait a few minutes. Highly recommend.
Thank you for the delicious breakfast and your hospitality.Great experience.See you soon.
Debating on how many stars to give, the food is great HOWEVER, the service is horrendous. It was a party of two, as soon as we stepped inside the waiting list is on a clipboard on a sheet of white copy paper. We asked the owner/manager how long was the wait and we’re told 30 minutes or less.It was raining outside in the wait area so we asked if we could give a phone number and she replied “I don’t have time for that and just walked away.We waited almost an hour to be seated and once seated we waited 15 minutes for a server to come and take only our drink order. It took another 15 minutes just to get the drinks. After receiving the food (40 minutes later) my waffle was undercooked and raw. Our server wasn’t attentive although she was nice and was trying her best- you could tell she was being overworked. The owner kept leaving the restaurant even though they were obviously understaffed.Overall, I would not recommend unless you are doing take out.
Had a great breakfast at this cozy spot! The food and service we amazing. I had the breakfast special Hungarian Scrambled Eggs with fresh squeezed orange juice and wow it was good!! Inhouse made hungarian sausage paired so well with the eggs, onion, peppers. My wife had the waffle and it was fluffy and delicious! Would highly recommend stopping to have breakfast when in the area.
No sweet tea... in a southern diner!!! I wouldnt call this a diner. It actually is more like a hotel bar/restaurant. There is bar and table seating available. Located in the same physical building as the property management office for the apartment / motel complex adjoining the building.I was here for breakfast and got the French Toast. The flavor was to be expected. What I found was that it didnt come with sides (eggs, bacon, ect.) Which is typical of southern diners. The wait staff was kind and courteous and they all had some type of foreign accent (maybe close to Russian) which might explain some of the menu choices or styles. There were quite a few customers with other dishes that looked really good.
My server Paula was wonderful. Sylvia was fantastic as well! I highly recommend eating here. The place is clean with a nice homestyle feel. These folks are working hard to make your meal delicious and it was! Everything was fresh and delicious. Thank you Paula and Sylvia and everyone working hard to accommodate me!
If you’re looking for gourmet, well presented, quality ingredients close to the airport, this is the place. Family owned, great patio (though traffic is loud the landscaping is beautiful and blocks a lot of the noise), and lovely indoors. Very studious staff about using sanitizer between handling plates between different tables. Highly recommend.
This place is fantastic!!! We got the blueberry pancakes, french toast with fresh fruit and the sunny side burger. All of them were amazing. We will definitely be back for another meal! Were only here for a week and I would seriously come here for every meal if I could. Also the service is fantastic. Our waitress was amazing with our kids. She even asked for a whipped cream smiley face on their pancakes.
I was looking for a local/mom and pop place to have dinner last night. My wife said, Sunnyside? But theyre a breakfast place! Im sure the breakfast is great and I cant wait to give it a try, but as for dinner, I was impressed by every aspect of the place. Its a cozy atmosphere. Our server was attentive without being smothering. The food was amazing. We had pheasant stuffed crepes, seared tuna salad and a sandwich and all of it was excellent and fresh.Great local-owned place with great food.
We got stuck in Sarasota unexpectedly for an extra night due to weather and flight cancellations. The room availability was limited and we stayed within walking distance to this little cafe. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and very attentive servers. The food was fresh, delicious and a large portion for the price. It was truly the highlight of our day and well needed
Where do I even begin, love every bit of this underated quaint cafe thats Hungarian family owned and run. Id say one of if not the best burger in Sarasota IMO! (Not no regular American cheeseburger) Continuous rotating specials that are made with whats fresh that week, the chef is an amazing cook. He said it best everything is on the menu because its spectacular and made with care/ love. Great place for a brunch/lunch outing with friends/ family or grabbing a nice dinner with a date, if you come on Friday nights they have a violinist thats spectacular. Cant go wrong with this place
I enjoyed 2 breakfasts at Sunny side Café. Eggs Benedict was well prepared and the seasonal fruits were actually fresh and delicious. Wish we had time to try dinner there. I should have taken pictures
This space was quaint, and the food was cooked to order. The had a short vegan menu which was a great option for my vegan hubby. The omelette was fresh and seasoned all the way through. The spot was clean and the staff was accommodating. Reasonable wait time but you could see your food being cooked so that was a big plus.
Yes Please! You can’t pass this one by. AMAZING service, AMAZING food and LOVE the atmosphere. Friday evening a one person band. The owner is normally there and swings by to check on you. It’s also pet friendly outdoors with doggy bowls.
This place is kinda nestled in a spot that was questionable but WOW the food was our favorite we had on vacation and so affordable. I got grilled shrimp on mushroom risotto and it was INCREDIBLE. The chef definitely doesn’t lack flavor 😍
Service, food and atmosphere were great. Clean place and clean bathrooms.
We are enjoyed our breakfast so much that we ordered lunch to go. The fruit that I had on my plate was the freshest fruit that I think I’ve ever had in my life! The omelette was so fresh. We ordered chicken Panini and veggie Panini to go for lunch and they were both amazing! This restaurant really knows what they’re doing with food I would definitely recommend anybody to go there anytime of day
Excellent food and service. Dont miss this one!
What a hidden gem. A relaxed bistro feel, where time flows so, dont be in a hurry. Clean and beautiful. The Mangalitsa Benedict and pork chops are so ummieee. Phenom to all we had including,l the pancakes and stuffed croissant bacon Sammie❤️❤️❤️❤️ Lavazza cappuccino to boot. Server on point that is yall Ill see you for dinner!
Delicious food, great mimosas! I had the mango mimosa and the steak and eggs benedict and absolutely loved it. I recommend the fruit with it to help counter the heaviness of the benedict, but the potatoes are also good for soaking up the extra hollandaise and egg!Service was quick and good too -- wonderful experience!
Near the Ringling brothers museum, this diner was unique. We had the specials, my husband had the Hungarian scrambled eggs, and I had the baccalau (cod) salad sandwich. The food was fresh and a lot better than most.
Unassuming, right off the side of the road, yet beautiful outside and in. But the most spectacular surprise is the food! Unbelievably delicious, fresh, satisfying, and frankly interesting mix of Hungarian foods and a little touch of Greek. The Sunny side salad is not to be missed it is unbelievable, baby kale lemon dressing with crispy chickpeas and avocado yum!The lamb and the pork burgers were unbelievable. Three of us dined here and three of us were absolutely satisfied.
What a wonderful little restaurant. We sat outside for breakfast and it was just a lovely setting. The food is good and there are many interesting combinations of flavors. For example pancakes made with chickpea flour and toped with mango / tomato salsa. The staff were friendly and the service was timely. Highly recommend this place.
The food and service are top notch. I’ve eaten here every time I visit Sarasota and it’s always a favorite. The pork flatbread was amazing!
Nice little spot for breakfast with some unique items like the potato pancakes. 3 outdoor tables each have their own area with lighting and greenery and shaded by large umbrellas.
I really enjoyed this place! Excellent open faced salmon burger, homemade fries. Didnt expect the flavor complexity and was very happy with it. Service is great, hidden gem.
Excellent food, lousy service. Went for breakfast at about 9:15 on a weekday. The restaurant was NOT crowed. An hour-and-a-half later, we were done. I can only imaging what things are like on weekends. The food was very tasty, with lots of interesting choices on the menu. I thoroughly enjoyed my pork chop and eggs, with a very fresh fruit cup. However, our initial server, Dina, was rude, argumentative, and highly inefficient. Things improved markedly with Paige, who was friendly, helpful, and communicative. She explained the reason for the delay (the chef was late in getting to work). If this place was properly run, the manager would have come out to us and comped one of our breakfasts. Im not sure that the good food here is worth all this aggravation.
We stopped here for breakfast and were so impressed by the quantity of the food and service that we returned for dinner. And we were even more impressed. Very friendly, family run business with excellent food and a nice wine list. Located on the Tamiami Trail, just south of the Ringling Museum. Well worth a visit.
Very small. More like a bar. Says American food, but only a small selection with exotic cheeses and asparagus. Nothing was listed with American cheese or mashed potatoes. A little disappointed. We just left. Made the people with me mad that I couldnt find anything I really wanted too.
First place we stopped at visiting Sarasota and still the best weve had. delicious breakfast and solid coffee
Very attentive service. Great food.
Had the chickpea pancakes while I was in Sarasota last week. Absolutely delicious, it was my favorite food I had that whole trip! Beautiful outdoor dining with great flowers. And great vegan options, I will have to try the tofu scramble next time.I will definitely be back when I come back to Sarasota! Top notch service as well.
Ok, so, wow! Service was spectacular. The food was amazing. Very efficient service. Food came out quick. The place is set up really nice. Indoor and outdoor seating. Overall Awesome, my new Saturday breakfast jank
Delicious food I super recommend. The place is nice and clean, the outside area its lovely. Good service.
Outstanding food, excellent service, just a good vibe too.
Good food, it took a while but not bad.
Great little spot. Food was excellent and the service was even better.
So delicious - we came for dinner and ended up coming back for breakfast the next day! Both meals were excellent and the staff was very nice.
This place was wonderful. Everything was wonderfully priced, the staff was super sweet, and the food was amazing. We had a variety of food at our table and not a single complaint. I had an Irish coffee that was also great. You can’t go wrong with this place. It even had great music. If you want breakfast? Don’t skip out on this place.
On my way to the airport, found this perfect cafe for breakfast.Great eggs BenedictGreat coffeeGreat peopleGreat fruit cup (best mix of fruit)And the best hash browns ever!A must try
This was my third time at the restaurant. Had seared tuna spinach salad. Excellent. Always fresh ingredients. Servers always friendly.
It was mother’s day and it was a hefty wait, but the food is good. They have vegan options and wonderful outside seating! We had cappuccinos, the specialty Lobster Eggs Benedict, and the Zesty Salmon Burger.
Found this place a year ago. I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it today. Omelette’s were tasty made with fresh ingredients. Just a good solid place to get a can’t miss meal. If your a northerner you might want to ask for the Lakas crispier as they tend to be not what we are used to. Staff was friendly and the place is spotless. I look forward to my next breakfast there.
My first time here. And first impressions are important and I will be back. The ambiance and decor are very inviting and gives you the impression that you are somewhere in Europe. Most importantly the food and service were absolutely amazing.
Excellent place for breakfast, dont let the outside make you drive by!
A really nice place to dine in. I ordered the grilled chicken panini with sweet potato fries it was delicious!!!!! My hubby order the stuff croissant and he loved it. I will indeed recommend this diner to anyone. Our server was very friendly and the diner was really nice. A really nice atmosphere when we were dining in on a mid Saturday afternoon.
Super cozy and delicious place. You better come same time they open because it is pretty busy
Amazing food! Very fresh and delicious!
They are the best when it comes to breakfast! You cant go wrong!♡
Delicious Hungarian and Austrian specialties! Especially loved the dobos tort! Very friendly!
I just left this place with my neighbors and we are all completely blown away by how amazing everything was! This place is crazy good! Who would have thought this place would be so incredible. It sits on 41 in Sarasota just south of the airport on the east side of the road in front of this kinda shady looking apartment complex and it is totally and completely unassuming. When we pulled up I definitely thought it was going to be a nightmare, but it turned out to be one of the most amazing cafes I have eaten at in this area. I am quite the foodie and have pretty high expectations and standards when it comes to food. They definitely met and exceeded any and all expectations I had.I ordered the Seared Tuna and Spinach Salad with grilled asparagus, pineapple, strawberries, beets and goat cheese with a raspberry dressing. Sooooooooo yummy! Ryan ordered the Sunnyside Eggs Benedict with a Potato Pancake and Erin had the French Toast. All three of us cleared our plates and we were seriously contemplating ordering more!!! I highly recommend this place!!!
Great food and terrific service. A must try!
Best meal I have had in a while. Everything was cooked to perfection. Was not expecting that good of a meal. Well worth it. We will be back.
We stays at days inn and right next door is a gem. Sunnyside cafe has not only a friendly staff but their homemade sausage, potatoe pancakes were excellent and not something I would expect. I wish we were staying longer to check out their lunch and dinner menus and would highly recommend stopping by and having a taste. Oh also pet friendly they will bring your furry friend water.
It’s a locally owner and operated Beautiful SARASOTA jewel.Satisfy your craving for Mangalica here. Its indeed a cozy breakfast lunch cafe.Don’t be turned off by the shady looking Apt complex where it’s located. Its well worth a visit and has delicious Hungarian specialties.Food Good.Service average.Presentation very good.Decor cozy.Pricing reasonable.Parking limited.AWARDED 1.5 YUMS ON A SCALE OF 3.
Wonderful Breakfast! I got the 2 Eggs breakfast with pancakes. It was served quickly and the pancakes were crispy on the edges. So good!!! Their coffee was good. They offer FRESH squeezed orange juice. It was obvious the juice came straight from the orange into my glass. The bitterness you get from bottled juice wasnt there. Just pure sweet Florida orange. Delicious. We are going again tomorrow morning with the family!
Definitely the worst dining experience while visiting Sarasota for a week. When you walk up, there is no staff available to provide any direction. There is a clipboard laying on a table where you place your name with absolutely no direction given. When we walked in to get some sort of wait time, the woman at the cash register was extremely rude stating that even though there were multiple tables available, she would not seat us because the kitchen was too busy. When asked if we could at least order a drink or sit at the empty table while we waited, she very rude said “NO I WILL NOT SERVE YOU.” We waited an hour while the tables remained empty. (which would be fine had we of been able to at least get a drink while we waited on their patio) Every single person that walked up was complaining at how rudely they were being talked to. Once we were seated our waitress was very rude as well. She walked up to our table and very unprofessional. When we asked for refills she said how she was too busy for this many drinks so soon. It’s sad because the food was good, there was one very polite waitress who was sadly wasn’t ours, but the women who you have to deal with to get a seat and order ruined this place for us. Customer service is not their strong point and needs some severe attention.
Definitely a 5 star place... I cant believe I did not discover this gem for so many years. I work at the university and wanted to give a try to this place for lunch. The food was delicious!!! I will definitely come back. The only thing was that the service is slow. I waited about 40 - 45 minutes for my salad.
The food was amazing. I had the deluxe omlett great.
Service was great and me was delicious! The waffle was fluffy and perfect. Honey got the Hungarian house special and it was great, the sausage had great flavor. Fresh squeezed orange juice was tasty!
I love this restaurant but man did they drop the ball on Easter Sunday. I worked in restaurants for over a decade, so I understand exactly how they work.Sunnyside left some people waiting for a table for an hour while seating other folks off the list and allowing other patrons to just walk in and bypass the list. This is simply constructive criticism. We were on the list also when a couple came out. They told us the cafe informed them the kitchen was closing in an hour so they were going to leave the dirty tables. The whole situation is mismanagement and lack of communication. Everybody knows Easter will be extra busy. You prepare for that. You dont decide youre quitting an hour early w/people standing around waiting for a table. We only lost 15 mins and left. I feel bad for the folks who wasted an hour while the Sunnyside Cafe was run so poorly.
I cant say enough nice things about the SunnySide Cafe. I was there for breakfast this morning with my cousin. She is disabled and has not been in a restaurant for a year. We wanted to eat inside but separate from other tables. I couldnt believe that our waitstaff brought a table in from outside to make a space for us. They moved chairs and a plant! We were able to enjoy a wonderful breakfast and to be together. I dont remember ever seeing such kindness and thoughtfulness in a restaurant or business. I am so grateful and recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Head waitress is a beast at what she does. Bartender made amazing drinks, will definitely be returning
I had the delicious tofu scramble at Sunnyside Cafe. It’s a great spot with mostly mainstream items, but they have some great vegan options. I really appreciate that they have vegan options. The only con was that the side that came with my tofu scramble was not vegan. I could have paid $1 extra for a vegan side, but its the principle, a vegan dish should come with a vegan side.
Excellent experience and food. Our waitress, Kata, was accommodating, welcoming, and helpful. We loved our food and as a vegetarian with a lactose intolerance I was in heaven with so many vegan options! We look forward to enjoying breakfast, lunch, and dinner here for the next couple of days.
Amazing food and amazing service, order the eggs Benedict
Bad service all, including the manager with very bad attitude. the food was delicious too bad the service is horrible!
The meal, while a little on the expensive side, was amazingly tasty! Because they were a little busy the waitress was slow but I can forgive that mostly because the food was just that good. Definitely highly recommended.
What a great little find for a farewell breakfast before heading to SRQ airport!👍Outside seating and vegan options👍Food: Overall 4.5–eggs Benedict yolks were over cooked, but potato pancake was good. Vegan oatmeal banana pancakes were yummy.Service: Our waitress was lovely, and though she made a mistake with one of our orders, she admitted it, corrected it and took it off bill. She also took care of our little dog, which of course gives her extra points😍.Noise: The outside seating was a bit loud because right on 41, but the fence and foliage helped reduce that.Cost: reasonable.
Went here for breakfast. Super delicious. Well done. Very clean.
We called ahead and they said they couldnt put us on the wait list. We were only 10 minutes out. I asked how long the wait would be and they said 15 min. Once arriving there was no host stand just a server running around with a clip board trying to figure out who got there first. I saw her write down multiple people that came after me get written down before me. When asking the staff how long it would be she had no idea. Not even the slightest clue 5min? 45min? So its not fair for me to call ahead but its fair to put 5 groups that came after me on the list first. Dont bother with the cluster of madness..
