They have the best possible customer service here. We went shopping to pick up some makeup for my granddaughter on Halloween. The wonderful lady was so helpful, we felt as if we were the only customers in the store. She helped us colormatch face powder too. The store is clean and well stocked, in a very convenient location.

Terrible experience if you choose to pick up products from store. I bought morphe eyeshadow palette and when I got home, I found it was used. There were still finger prints in the mirror. I contacted ulta and they told me I need to wait one day until the order is processed and will help me exchange tomorrow. What I am angry about is it’s not my first time to receive an used product. About two months ago, I bought colourpop eyeshadows and they were opened before. I had to drive there again and make an exchange. So disappointed with the service and don’t understand why they sell used products to customers with a new product price.

Employees very rude and disrespectful. I suggest going to a different location. They judge you and chose to help certain customers ( the ones that look like they have money ). They literally ignored me when I walked but greeted the lady that walked in behind me and Did not ask if I needed to help. So when I ask for help one of the employees looked bothered when I asked. She Would not help find my foundation shade and seemed like she had an attitude. But two minutes later the same employee was having a full blown conversation and being helpful with another customer. When I got to check out another employee was so unwelcoming and give me a look of Disgusted. I will never go to Ulta again. All I was trying to do was get make up for my birthday. One of the worst experiences ever. THIS LOCATION IS TERRIBLE!!

I love that they moved to a larger location because of the variety of products, but if I ever want something from Ulta beauty, I’ll simply get it online, it is more convenient and I won’t have to deal with employees who are rude but show it in a subtle manner, for that reason, I won’t be returning.Please, Ulta beauty teach your employees business professionalism, if they are having a bad day, they shouldn’t take it out on the customers and install cameras in all aisles so people don’t have to be followed around. It is creepy and loyal customers like myself aren’t thieves. Thank you.

Goods are displayed in a poor condition. Testers are just as dirty and overused as the boxes (esp KKW Beauty stand).

Went there yesturday and I was followed by the security the whole time I was there! I’ve been a loyal customer since high school and I decide to go back and visit because I saw they relocated but instead I get followed. I’ve worked for retail before and I know when they suspect someone is stealing. I’ve been contacted by higher ups which is something I appreciate. But I won’t be back sadly!

The customer service is freaking amazing ☺️. The gals are so sweet and have a good vibe, I used to go to Ulta with my friends after school last year. We love to spend time there and test the products and be creative. Yeah some product’s are expensive, but it’s worth it. Can’t wait to go back 😊

On several occasions I have shopped at the Ulta in Silver Spring and I only have one problem. I dont know if there are lots of thefts but I definitely feel uncomfortable with security running to the aisle Im in as if I have stolen something. I understand they have their jobs to do but I am definitely on constant monitor. I dont like it and will not shop this location anymore.

Store is fine but the workers there only care about your money! I went today with my baby in the stroller, as you know their door is so hard to open so i struggled open it while pushing the stroller! This lady is just staring at me like she don’t care while she works there and she was just standing near the door but didn’t even bother to help me open the door!I was looking for a lotion which i couldn’t find it there so i walked out, she asked did you find what you were looking for? I told her the name of the lotion and she said we don’t have that one! So then i reached the door and she was near but didn’t help me holding the door so i can push the stroller! I had to struggle again then left!I will never go back there again and i wouldn’t recommend my friends who have kids to go there with their strollers! Even one star in too much

Amanda is amazing! Shes extremely professional yet very warm and friendly. Perhaps the best hairdresser Ive worked with in years. A brief back-up... when I first came to Amanda, I was a mess. My previous hairdresser did highlights and they were pretty much blonde clumps on my brown hair. I was pretty much in tears. She looked at my hair and knew she could make it right. I had complete faith and trust. I wont go anywhere else!

I got my hair done. Finally! All safety precautions with COVID19 were followed, and of course I was masked and gloved while getting my hair done. The result was great and I felt so much better.

A great store. This one is actually easier to walk through than other ones Ive been to. The aisles are labeled clearly, and its easy to see and know where to go. When I needed assistance it was swift and very helpful.

Best customer service

No one likes to pay retail, but sometimes you need specific products and Ulta has several of my go-to brands. I always find what Im looking for, and I do like getting the points back toward new purchases. I recently had to return some hair care products I had used and they exchanged them, no questions asked. I dont do it often but it has happened before when I tried something new from a brand I already use. The location is conveniently located near where I shop and weekend parking is free.

Order #K146677175- Absolutely horrible. My box was beaten and frail. All the items were loosely banged around. Appears they’ve been on a rough ride, all day, in the heat. Not to mention MISSING my leather bag. Which clearly, by the packaging, they never had any intentions of sending my bag, in the first place. Even though my receipt shows it in the box- whoever packed it, knew it was not in there.ORDER # K146677175-Which now Alta doesn’t feel they need to send it out to me, because it was “a gift to begin with”Per the customer service rep.While it was a gift that I had to spend $75 in order to not be charged $75 for the bag!! Hence why I then added the heat protect.So it’s quite comical that Ulta is like-“yeah, too bad too sad”. Even though your receipt shows we sent you your bag, and we OBVIOUSLY did not send it-(per the photos of how your items were packaged). Ulta can’t just send me another bag??? Because their “system” won’t allow them to.....then The customer service rep. proceeds to say......UNLESS, you want to spend another $75.00??? Then I will get that bag sent out to you.Oh- I forgot to mention- This offer is still being presented to anyone shopping at Ulta.com! Stopped in with my wife for hair color and skin care. Bright, open layout with clearly marked isles and shelves. Watch out for the upsell items at checkout - theyre hard to resist!! Nice security to ward off would be shoplifters. Beauty bar to try out new looks. Nice selection, but youre paying for quality so expect a small markup.

Rude and unhelpful associates. Don’t bother coming here. I looked for an item they usually carry and couldn’t find it. Asked one of the store associates if they carry the item. She says it’s in front of me. It’s not. I figure she misunderstood what I was asking for and google the product to show her. She frustratedly responds that they just sold all of the ones they had. I search for a similar product by a different brand and only find a tester. I ask another associate if they have ones that have not been opened. Associate doesn’t bother checking and just goes “I don’t know”. No offer to recommend a similar product or effort to be pleasant. It’s a shame that they’re in such a good/convenient location yet offer such awful customer service.

They have all your drugstore brands, a wide selection of haircare products bigger than Sephora and cheaper by far. Overall great beauty supply shop in silver spring. Be prepared to spend a good amount of money, beauty supplies are over priced anywhere you go.

I went to this Ulta after I lost my makeup bag. The staff was incredibly helpful and helped me try on a number of foundations and blushes and choose the best fit. The salon is so convenient, and they do a great job. My hair and face thank Silver Spring Ulta!

News flash to all of the bad reviews: if you approach someone w/ a bad attitude chances are that they will give you one back. I think that ulta is a great place to shop for makeup, but the only reason I am taking of one star is because there is only one register open at all times.

Always love Ulta, but the layout of this one just got be turned around a bit, I completely missed the NYX aisle on my way in but eventually found it. The checkout was quick and friendly as always which is one reason I really like Ulta.

Great location but I was not impressed with the service I received. They are usually pretty helpful but I felt like I was bothering the ones on duty that day. Mind you, the store was Not busy. I asked for help a number of times. Maybe they were just having a bad day. I will be back though. We shall see how it goes next time.

Got my hair done by rama, perfectly nice lady talented but my appointment was at 3:30 i came at 3:35 and didn’t get in the hair until 3:45, and she didn’t really listen to what i wanted for my hair especially the part. it was really really frustrating. i don’t think i’ll be coming back at least if its not with a different stylist

You can test cosmetics and get your hair done at the salon, they have a nice body spray line as well.

I have been visiting this ULTA for years and it seems that the customer service is getting worse. I agree with what many of the reviewers pointed out in previous reviews that you cannot get any assistance when you need it. The make-up artists and customer service associates on the floor are terribly incompetent and have forgotten that they are there to offer support. Because I frequent the location often and do well finding what I need, without having to beg for service so Im pretty used to it. I visited downtown silver spring this past Saturday November 4, 2017 specifically to purchase a beauty product from Ulta and the woman on the floor should have stayed home on this day. She was disgustingly short with me and disinterested in providing any level of customer service. Shes been an employee at the store for quite some time and Im actually used to her lack of professionalism, but there were no other sales associates on the floor as far as I could see and I needed to quickly get what I needed to be on my way. My 7 and 5 year old even recognized her incompetency and proceeded to assist me with finding the product I was looking for.Finally, I enlisted the support of someone else there, who happened to be an assistant manager. Though we did not find what I needed, as they may have sold out, she did make an earnest attempt to assist.I believe everyone is entitled to having one or two or three bad days, but if you take a look at the reviews here, Ulta Silver Spring offers poor customer service consistently. This says to me that this is not just a few bad days, but moreso the culture of the environment. Needless to say, if you want some level of acceptable customer service and if you dont quite know where to find what youre looking for, do NOT visit Ulta Silver Spring.

This was the worst hair color service I have ever received. My hair is so bad I have to wear a hat until i can get it fixed! Rama should NOT be coloring hair at all or bowdrys!!! I have brown spots everywhere in my blonde harsh lines and its not the color I even requested. For almost $200 I should not have had to deal with this ...Someone should have done a better job with hiring! Even the staff agreed my hair looked like S*** !!! That was the last dollar of mine spent in ulta going back to sephora for all my makeup.

The store wasnt too crowded when I visited and had a clean environment. Overall its your average beauty store, but I did have a very lovely experience with christina (she was one of the cashiers) it was quite swift and pleasant 😊 will come back just bcs of how nice and sincere she was.

On the small side for an Ulta but has a wide variety of brands and products within brands. Has a lot of makeup and other beauty products, and a good amount of hair and skin care products. You can test most products but you usually have to hunt for testing swabs.

The product quantity is always lacking at this location. Especially Nyx cosmetics. Lack of offered help too. I was looking for a metallic matte red lipstick and the associate who was helping me did not know what she was doing! I dont know if she couldnt grasp what I was asking for, or if she just was faking the funk. Smh. I find that a lot of Ulta reps have an uppity attitude with minimum makeup knowledge. I was helping and teaching her... *face palm*This associate showed me pretty much every red lipstick EXCEPT what I asked for. And I let her simply because Im kind and was trying to give her a chance. However, stop trying to upsale consumers anything just to make a sale. The red I needed was metallic which has shimmers and also matte... Showing me glossy, creamy, non metallic, non matte red lipsticks is not a solution or the answer.I eventually thanked her for her help and left.

Very busy location, a little chaotic if I may suggest. Customer service was okay, nothing extraordinary. You dont get help when you need it neither are you acknowledged when you walk in. I still prefer the location off NY Ave NE, at least there is free parking at the NY location.

SALON ONLY. Read if you have long/thick hair.I visited the Salon at Ulta in downtown Silver Spring, MD today. I made a 4PM appointment for a signature haircut. The lady who made my appointment on the phone told me the haircut starts at $35 but they do not have that level of hair stylist so all of theirs are $45 and up depending on the stylists years of experience. She did not ask me if I have long hair or thick hair. As a contrast, when I called Hair Cuttery, they asked me up front if I had long/thick hair and then told me it cost extra. They were up front about it on the phone. When I come in, the girl I am booked with tells me she is running twenty minutes behind. I wait for 50 minutes (yes, FIFTY) with no update and I only stayed because I wanted my hair cut that badly! Of course, it was only to be told the real cost to cut my hair is $75. Yes, if you have long hair, it goes up incrementally by $10 per tier of length plus a thickness charge. She further mentioned that she couldnt tell me that on the phone because she couldnt see my hair. I responded that she could have told me there is a charge for long/thick hair and I would have told them yes I do have that kind of hair. At least, then I would have been in the know! As well, someone could have gone over pricing when I arrived instead of making me wait 50 minutes and then going over pricing.Let me contrast to Michael Anthony Salon (Eastern Market). They dont charge me extra. I pay $50 regardless just like it used to be in the old days. And they are a much higher end salon than Ulta. The only reason I didnt go to my lady there is its far away and I no longer work downtown. But alas, I will make the trek down there!The only reason I even gave a 1 star is because the girl was kind enough to tell me BEFORE she cut my hair.

I got my hair done a year ago here while I was visiting family in DC. I got an ombre that completely ruined my hair, the stylist also charged for stuff that she put in my hair like toner and conditioning that she did not tell me she was doing. I spent close to $1000 trying to fix along with the cost of what they charged me. I left crying, I informed them that I wanted to get part of my money back and they told me they would send me my money since I was from a different state and they couldnt have me come in and fix it. Well, it has been over a year and I still havent received anything. I called and complained to the better business bureau, and they informed me that they tried to contact them multiple times and they had no response. Ashley did my hair, the cut was great but my hair is still recovering.

DONT GO IF YOU HAVE NATURAL HAIR. Unsatisfied with one of the elite salon stylists ( I wont say her name because she was a nice lady). I went in there with the intention of getting my hair flat ironed, and that was a mistake on its own because I am natural. The stylist washed my hair and hurt the hell out of my neck, I thought it was gonna snap in half lol!! Yanking and pulling.. no knowledge on how to detangle natural hair. She said good thing youre not tender headed ... I was thinking well damn I can still feel it! Im just not gonna be hollering and carrying on...Got done washing and now drying my hair ever so roughly, and then I had to wait in the chair for her to do something to two other clients hair. If im paying all this money, I shouldnt have to wait.She had to cut a couple of inches off my hair, because I needed a trim. Cool. But she never mentioned a price for the trim, and charged me as if I was getting a regular hair cut... I have never in my life had a salon charge me that much for a trim.. and theyre talking about a cut is a cut .. NO ITS NOT. Its not like she styled it.Then on top of that, the cashier at the front tried to guilt me into leaving a tip, knowing I was unsatisfied.Dont get me wrong, my hair turned out great even though it only lasted 75 seconds outside.. (cant blame anyone for mother nature) but I will not be going there again. It is not the salon you go to if you have natural hair.

Worst customer service! Every service or product I asked about the employee had to go find someone else. Ive been going to ULTA for over a decade and never experienced such poor service. Im use to most stylists knowing how to wax eyebrows. They should really gave more than one person who can perform that service especially if that person takes off for the xay5.

Ok...so I usually don’t like to complain but this location houses some of the rudest, unattentive, attitude driven employees. From the tone in their voices, to the constant side eyes, to the LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I work in the customer service industry and even when my staff and I are having a terrible day we remain professional.Everyone in that place needs to be retrained ASAP!
