Staff really looks out for me in every way. I feel very safe there and if I ask for help they do what they can. I am almost 70 this month and I do most of my shopping right there. Thanks

This is my local store which I love. It has such a great variety of food. Its usually fully stocked. The quality of the food is fresh.

Great experience the manager Mrs. Anita was helpful and very polite which I was very pleased I will be Definitely getting my groceries from now on. And she deserve a better position. I recommend this Safeway to anyone. Thanks again Mrs. Anita

Pretty easy experience I come in and get what I want I use the self check out and I go

A regular old Safeway. Building dates from about 1980. Recently renovated to appeal to the young folks moving into the many new apartments and condos in SS. New self-checkouts but human-assisted is also available. If possible park in the surface lot, not the dismal one under the store. Pharmacy on site staffed by nice guy Travis.ETA One more star for repaving the surface lot. Employees are UFCW if that means anything to you.

Decent grocery store. Its always clean. New renovations in 2019/2020 that expanded the floor space so they can fit more items. I can usually find whatever Im looking for. Have never had an issue with bad or spoiled purchases.

Safeway on Thayer Ave, Silver Spring sells fruit that is going bad and Isn’t ashamed about it. I just purchased a box of Strawberries “Berry Big box”@ $5.00 and had to use them immediately because by the end of the next day they were rotting. This has happened a number of times with grapes, raspberries, blueberries etc. Instead of getting rid of, or donating the fruits before they go bad they push selling them until they are almost rotten. A neighbor and I shopped here quite a bit and resigned not to ever go back.This store was my go to during COVID. Not because they were the only store near but because they had many of the products I liked at reasonable prices. Not anymore. I officially resign from shopping at Safeway. The best part of that store is the Deli.I’m done with them. Whole Foods or Giant here I come.

Perfect place to shop, clean and the staff is very courteous and friendly, also the pharmacy staff is on point on everything even though they are under staffed they make it work! I tip my hat to the pharmacy staff, very, very awesome staff!!

We bought some of their sandwiches and they were delicious but we are from out of town and unfortunately did not have a membership card nor were we offered one other than that it was an enjoyable shopping experience.

I give Safeways 4 stars in general as opposed to 5 because their stores are small and tight. Other than that, just as good and in some ways better than their competitors.

I had the worse experience at this place on Monday 4/19/2021. I live across the street, which makes me a frequent customer. I felt discriminated by the Seafood worker Michael ! I usually come in and shop with my reusable bag as most people due, especially since covid, I do not prefer to touch the carts. I walked the vegetable isle searching for items I needed, obviously putting them in my bag. I realized he came from behind the counter and watched me closer, I than went to the dairy isle to get sour cream that I forgot to grab which is on the opposite side of the store( I turned around and noticed him fiddling around on a random shelf as if he was doing something). I walked to the checkout to pay for my items and he followed me ! Its no way a worker that works behind the seafood stand needed to follow me around the store like I was a criminal! Very discouraged to return stating the fact this my frequent used store.

The woman that works st the deli was the sweetest person. Oh and so was Joanna the cashier and t g r young lady at the Starbucks

Relatively small but has been renovated. Its great and convenient for quick trips but they dont seem to have a wide variety of products.

Mask use by customers can be lacking here and there is no enforcement by the store itself. Otherwise its a good store with friendly staff.

The free item was there but because it was label differently on the app and when you ring it up it is label as wipes the item was never free. The manager didnt want to keep entering an override.

Ready to eat sandwiches of a full french bread, big to share between 3-4 people and you may get some healthy drink also, and continue uour way, we were 5 hours away from home and not time for restaurant, plus we needed the restroom to change diaper, this Safeway in particular did not havde a baby changer table, but we manage thanks to the fact that the bathroom was private.

I hold one of the the five stars; Just to express my unpleasant feelings about this stores rocking prices on most of their products recently.

Love the new Safeway.it is very spacious.and clean.This was my second time going there since January.2020.and I look forward in shopping there more often.

They have ample parking in a garage underneath. It is clean with friendly staff. Product selection is a bit limited however. Dont go with anything super specific in mind.

Chance is the name of the most helpful, friendly and professional man working at Safeway. Ever since I moved to Silver Spring a couple years ago I see his smiling face there. He always helps me with my coupons.

The customer service aint half bad either. I highly recommend.

Nice supermarket with a seemingly endless supply of cold drink options. The parking lot seems small for the size of the store, but it was not crowded when I went.

I have to give the store a 1, sad because this is my local Safeway, that Ive gone to and loved for many many years.I had a horrible interaction with 2 employees this evening.The first one, Dean who Id never seen before was extremely rude and even when I pointed out to him that his attitude was a bit off, he replied OK in a nonchalant manner, like he didnt care.He then walked off rudely shrugging after I asked to speak to the store manager... he went and brought another employee, Anita who said she was the store manager (shes not) to make it worse she was equally rude and seemed to reinforce Deans aggressiveness. I know these are retail jobs and usually id look the other way, but these two take the dont care attitude to a whole new level.Ill probably delete this once Im able to talk to the store manager about it, wouldnt want all the other great people who work there lumped in to the 1 star service I got from just two clerks.From my observation as a regular at this store, Anita has always had a not so customer friendly attitude, but today it got worse.

I like it. Not too many options to confuse you. Neither too simple and cheap, nor too extravagant. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good place for a bachelor or a couple to do groceries and stuff in a budget. I really like it.

I used to not shop here even though it was close to my house because the lines were long or they had limited staff but now that theyve installed 4 self checkout lanes i go a little more often.

I really like the pharmacy here. The staff are helpful, and its smaller and less crowded than a cvs or walmart.

This location is closed now, but was a wonderful store. The Manager Richard was the best, always tried to help and wonderful.

Before purchasing anything at this store please know as of 3.30.20 NO Exchanges, Returns or Refunds on any purchases until further notice. Please check all expiration dates on your food before you leave the store as I identified multiple items that were on the shelves that expired in 2019 while shopping this week.

They have lots of healthy options in this section which is a huge plus!

I love Safeway an all but this place needs a makeover. The place looks very dirty and run down. While they have a lot of products and up to date on that I would to see more technology and actually their workers care about the look of the place. Their is a parking garage and a lot outside, both of which are not that big. You can also do street parking but not sure if its free or not. I prefer going to other Safeways than this one but its good for quick shopping trips. I also wish their workers were a little nicer.

Checkout staff were indifferent at best, and requests to have the bathroom unlocked went unanswered after 10 minutes. The inside was clean enough and the parking garage attached made it easy to avoid struggle, but overall I cant say much about this Safeway in the positive. It does however provide needed grocery service to an urbanized area at affordable prices, which is something to be praised.

Always very good customer service. Very pleasant and very helpful. Love going there.

I guess Im a little biased on this particular store. I remember going here back in the 80s, I really didnt like it as a child and I still dont like it as an adult. I dont think Ive ever seen more than two or three lines open at one time. No self check out. You dont feel safe in their parking lot at night. People steal from this store all the time, and when Ive said something about it, not only to the staff but to the non - customer as well, it was like nobody cared. Everything is overpriced. The seafood counter is extremely small and you are lucky to find someone manning it. The store feels cramped and gloomy. Truthfully they need to tear it down and either build a new one or give the land to a developer.

They took out the self checkouts back in the early spring so now you are forced to wait in one of two (three if you are lucky) regular checkout lines. Parking is okay and you are better off using the garage under the building as the parking lot in front of the store is small, hard to navigate and always filled with pedestrians. The elevator from the garage looks like it is the original one from the 1970s or 80s as it is worn out and the doors are beat to hell. It works and you wont get stuck in it though (at least I never have) Overall, the store is clean, everything is well stocked and employees are friendly. I have had to go to the service desk a few times and the person working behind it has always been polite and willing to help.

I collected monopoly card here. But the monopoly cards I got last time are all opened. All of the cards are duplicated. It already happened twice, and I collected with two different cashier. So I think the cards they received are already opened. I don’t think this action is legal and ethical, whoever did that should stop doing it.

Oh my God I found expired juices. Are you serious? It is in Safeway at 909 Thayer avenue Silver Spring, MD, 20910I will post all the video I have recorded on social media. Please concerned people respond to this post. It has to be a serious issue for our community.

I love that this is so close to home but it seems like they randomly stop carrying products that are otherwise part of major brands they carry (for example: They have a TON of utz snack products, but have ceased carrying The Crab Chip).More importantly, they took out all of the self-checkouts but have made no effort to increase the number of active lanes - its a rare time that I am not 8 people deep in a line and spend 30+ minutes here, even just to get milk or laundry detergent.

Its been newly refurbished and looks much better and brighter.

Good place for groceries

The staff is knowledgeable about what you need. It is clean and updated. The staff is nice and helpful too.

Safeway is one of my favorite grocery chains, however disappointed with this location. Always and I mean always a longer than usual wait in line. Dont expect to go in and out quickly.You may find what youre looking for in a flash but expect to wait at least 20 minutes to get out. Im not kidding. Also its not the cleanest looking Safeway Ive been in, but Im a Safeway fan. Ill visit this one again Im sure they can do better.
