I just started sewing again after 15 years. I set up seger and it was not working, so I brought in to Fonders. It only took a few weeks to do a tune up and replace parts. Works great! Then of course, I had to touch the new machines and went to a class, had a great time, received some great tips. Then the next week I bought a new machine. Rachel has been the absolute best! She took her time to explain everything. I call and answers my crazy questions. They want you to understand your machine and love it! They seem to be busy all the time, but give you their undivided attention.In short...WONDERFUL service by all!

Everyone was really nice. I am a very novice sew-person and am clueless, Ben was able to explain enough of the machine and helped me run through some stitches, so that when I sat down 3 weeks later I was able to follow the instructions and get my machine up and running within an hour! I will have all supplies to complete my project today so well see what happens. :)

I had recently contacted Ben asking him if he had any good used embroidery machines. He contacted me right back and told me had a nice machine in, just what I was looking for. Went to Sioux Falls yesterday to look at the machine. It was everything I wanted and more. He was very patient and went through the machine with me. I came home confident I made the right choice and they are there to help if I need it. Thank you!

I was quite shocked to find out an entry level sewing machine for a 9 year old should be $600. I was hoping to get my niece something decent but affordable. I initially contacted via Facebook and was told something in my $100-$150 price range could be ordered if I called next day, but when I called I was told they dont order cheap machines. The guy I spoke with seemed irritated I would even ask. I am trying to keep my purchasing local if possible, but how can I if Im refused?!

A few weeks ago I contacted Fonders about my 10-needle no longer threading the needle. I was told that I could stop in and pick up the malfunctioning part and install it myself. I drove 4 hours to the store, was given a demonstration on how to replace the threader. Ben was very patient and answered my questions. My machine is still under warranty so there was no charge for the part. I finally got the part installed on my machine following the video I took watching Ben change the threader on one of their machines. I also got a new, smaller machine to use as back-up, or to get more things embroidered before the next craft show. I have purchased 5 embroidery machines and 3 Scan n Cut machines over the years. Excellent customer service, I wouldnt go anywhere else!

I bought my first sewing machine from Fonders, it was second hand and well worth the money. I later brought it in forservice and a clean which cost about $70. Again worth the money. the folks from Van der have been nothing but nice and helpful. I I have recommended them several times to other people who sew and will continue to do so

I recently acquired an old 1950s Singer Sewing machine. I know basically nothing about sewing, so when I brought this machine into Fonders I had a lot of questions. The staff was amazing. Super friendly and very knowledgeable. They got my machine back up and running smooth. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I will be back.

My wife was looking to upgrade her embroidery machine. Our first time in the store with way more questions than knowledge. Rachael and Ben spent 2 1/2 hours listening, teaching, and guiding us to a confident decision. We left the store with two new wonderful friends and a perfect match of machine with my wifes needs. You dont grow a business over 75 years by accident. They did have other customers while we were there but no one was ignored or neglected. One of the best shopping experinces we have ever had. By the way, we are both over 65 so thats saying something. 6 stars for sure..

I brought a quality hand-me-down sewing machine from my grandmother here to have some regular maintenance done as it still worked great. My grandmother used it frequently and I used it almost daily. Now I have my sewing machine back and the needle can no longer move from left to right and the presser foot wont go down. When I called to ask how this happened, they simply said this is what happens to older, unused machines. They only tried reassuring me that they have been in this business a long time, so they know what they are doing. Sadly, I am left with a useless sewing machine. I will not be purchasing my next sewing machine from them.

I purchased a machine that I didnt like and didnt want. They worked with me to get me into a machine I did like and want to use.***UPDATE***A year later and I still love my machine and use it frequently. I am very thankful to Fonders for helping me. They took a bad situation and turned it into a great one. And to be completely honest, I was very upset and cranky about the situation when it started. They were so friendly, patient, and kind which I hadnt really earned. They went above and beyond to get me a great machine and I am very grateful. I have recommended them to several friends looking for the same machine and will continue to do so.

I stopped in looking for an embroidery machine and after looking at various machines was not offered any help at all by the associates working. Then a man in the back room started talking to a woman associate in front about a customer who had evidently had a problem with a service they had done for her with no regard to the fact that there was anyone in their store. He was very rude when talking about her! At that point after not receiving any help and hearing them talk so rudely about a previous customer, I walked out. I later posted about this on their Facebook page expecting (and hoping) someone would address my comments however I saw this morning that they deleted my comments. If this is how Fonders treats customers I cannot give them a good review nor refer anyone to them! They lost a good sale! I will be purchasing a machine elsewhere!

I read some of the reviews and must say I was hesitant. But was my only option . My experience with them was top notch. I would recommend them to anyone .... Several phone conversations with the repairman .... The gal who checked us out. And then noting the brace on my arm ... Carried it out to my car.... I didnt think the price was out of line.....I dont cry about the cost of fixing something valuable when I cant fix it myself.

I have a Kenmore machine that hadnt been clearned or checked in years. When I called, they were helpful and said to bring it over. Three days later it was finished, I picked it up, used it right away and it is like new again. I am so impressed and will recommend Fonders to my sewing friends!

They were very very rude with terrible customer service. We brought in a machine for them to repair because it had a warranty on it. After the repair man fixed it, he left a voice mail saying if it wasnt picked up within the next week, he would throw it in the trash. When I got to the store, I asked him why he thought it was OK to be so rude. He said he would not make any kind of profit off of the work he did because of the warranty on the machine and he should not have to provide any kind of polite customer service because he would not be getting paid for it. All they want from you is your money and after they get it, they treat you like trash. They have no excuse for their terrible attitude. Do not go there!!

Not impressed. Dyson has a strict policy about acceptable practices and requiring a $60 deposit before Fonder will even look at my vacuum while under warranty isnt one of them. My Dyson had been to Fonder just four weeks before today and the repair man made a point of emphasizing that hed cleaned the filters and vacuum before letting me pick it up. As it turns out, no he didnt. When I showed up today to drop off my Dyson for service again, thats when Fonder tried to spring the $60 deposit requirement on me. I walked out with my vacuum and contacted Dyson who quickly sent me to another business. I will never take any of my business to Fonder when it comes to Dyson and if you read this, just beware of their sneaky double-dipping policy.

Wish I could give this place zero stars.I stopped in here to look at getting a new sewing machine (Husqvarna Diamond). There was a man and wife ahead of me and the salesman was answering their questions. The salesman NEVER greeted me when I entered or as I waited. He could have said: Hello maam, Ill be with you shortly. The phone rang while he was talk to the couple, but the salesman ignored the phone.After waiting over 20 minutes while the salesman waited on the couple, it was finally my turn. The salesman never greeted me, he just barked, what do you need. I said I was looking at Husqvarna machines ... and then the phone rang. He literally turned around and walked away from me to answer the phone!My takeaway, when you bring your man along, hell give you some cursory attention because he believes that the man makes all the major purchasing decisions. I was alone, thus viewed as not able to purchase so not worth his time or attention.Never going back!

Helpful but they dont tell you that you cant return anything. Its printed on the receipt, but then the transaction is done....too late for the consumer but great for the company!

The people who work at this store (especially the man who does repairs) are extremely rude. Dont waste your time, go to heirloom creations. I wouldnt go back in this store if they paid me.
