Came into pep boys at 30 minutes until close. My girlfriends car was heavily leaking oil due to a botched oil change by Subaru Of Algonquin. With an hour and a half drive home, she needed oil, and a quick yet actuate diagnosis to save her car. They were fast, nice, and did in fact save my girlfriends car. Special shout-out to Steve for being so professional and down to earth.

I had previously brought my car here for a wheel alignment and was told that there was another issue with the car. When I brought my car back to have the problem fixed, the employee at the desk said that it was too late in the day (two hours before the posted closing time) and that the mechanics were leaving. I told him that I had called earlier and was told I did not need an appointment and could bring the car in anytime. He went to the bays and came back out. Again, he repeated that I brought the car in late and it would take an hour to order the part and even longer to install. He was so busy going on about this, he did not give me chance to say that I was prepared to leave the car overnight (if necessary) and had a driver with me. His attitude was extremely condescending throughout this encounter. I told him that I would take my car somewhere else as I did not appreciate the rude way he was speaking to me. He argued that he was not rude. He hesitated when I asked for his name so I do not know if he gave me a false name or not. This 2 star rating is based on the customer service I received the first time (4 stars) and this last visit. I will not be back. I would rather pay more for better customer service somewhere else.

Scheduled an appointment for an oil change. Took over three hours past the appointment time before they put the car in an open bay. I do not plan on returning to this location again. The only reason Im giving three stars is because they were very reasonable on the price and understanding of our wait time.

I made an appointment for wheel alignment. I arrived on time, but I was told it was very busy bc there was only one tech. My car would be next in line, but the wait would be about an hour and a half. I left and came back about 2 hours later. My car had not been touched. I had to inquire about it and was told my car would be next in line. And that it would be at least another hour. I made an appointment and 2 hours later, my car was next in line. Horrendous.

Scheduled for an oil change appointment three days in advance. On the day of, when I got there I was told theres only one mechanic and was turned down. A heads up call beforehand wouldve been nice as I had to take time off from work.

I showed up for an oil change and they only have one mechanic for the job. They said they would would be able to do it if I dropped it off today and picked it up at tomorrow @7. It’s crazy, just for an oil change. The guy in front was very rude about it and just got straight to the point.

I use to come to this place for all my basic service and they used to fantastic. But my past last 3 trips to this place has only been a disaster. I noticed that they pretty much replaced 80% of there staff. The new staff is horrible, worst customer service. I bought a alignment with a one year warranty, after six months I wanted it checked because of the rough winter, they pretty much was declining my warranty trying to say I would have to pay for another one. The next time I came in there, they where trying to tell me that I needed a new battery, it’s funny because I just had replaced my battery 6 months prior, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and asked them how they came up with this hypothesis, the answer was they tested it and it failed, I asked them for numbers that was produced during the test. They couldn’t me an answer, after I told them the battery is 6 months old and demand they show me how they came up with this theory, they said they are sorry but I was the wrong customer. I used to love this place but with the new staff, it’s been bad. They just want your money and are willing to take advantage of every single customer at all cost.

Went there telling them my abs light and tire light came onThey told me its just the ram sensor and they reset it. They gave me the car and the tire light was off but by the time I drove the car all the lights came back on. They basically just took my 111 without doing anything. They should have just said they cant fix it and i would have taken my car elsewhere rather than wasting my time and taking my money. First time customer and definitely not going back

First time at Pep Boys. Made an appointment at this location thinking that it wouldn’t take to long. The only thing I asked for was an oil change (no rotation of tires or any further checks) They stated that it wouldn’t take that long. I waited for 45 minutes and my car hadn’t even been brought inside yet. Then I called another place (Jiffy Lube) that got me out in 30 mins. DONT go to this location unless you feel like waiting hours for your vehicle to be done even for just an oil change with an appointment. Will not be returning to Pep Boys.

Ill never go to Pep Boys again. I ordered new tires on their website to have installed, and I scheduled the installation when I placed the order. I showed up for my appointment this morning at 8:00 AM and they had my appointment and order, but didnt have the tires. Complete waste of time. As far as Im concerned, Pep Boys no longer exists.

We came in for assistance because our tire on our car has a slow leak at 5:20 on 6/26/2020 and worker told us he couldnt assist us because he did have the tools and this is a full tire shop and we could see them actually working on cars . He never came out to look at the car . My husband just trying to get his family home safely. This is very sad 😥

Dropped my car off and told them about a noise it was making and to check it please. Instead, they didn’t check the noise at all and tried to sell me things I didn’t need and neglected to tell me what I actually need. Stripped a stud on a tire while doing the rotation and didn’t even tell me. I won’t be back.

I went to get a steering wheel issue fixed and they recommended I get my tires replaced. It had been a while so I agreed to replace all 4 tires. My tire light was on on the way home, and when I called and asked, they said it would reset. The next day my steering started listing to the left and by the time I got to work one of my tires was flat to the ground. They arent covering the tow because I might have hit a nail (even thought the tire light was on since the second I got it back) so they scammed me out of another 60+ dollars. Dont come here.

I went into Pepboys because I had a flat tire. I was told that it was beyond repair and I would need a new tire. While going over my options for a new tire, a technician informed the sales associate that I had a second tire that had a nail and that tire too was beyond repair and would require replacement. The sales associate quoted me for two tires and told me it would take a few hours before they could start on my car, thus they were currently working on another one. I agreed to wait for them to service my car. I checked back in on the status. I was told that they did not complete my job yet. I asked if they could at least show me the nail in the second tire that was beyond repair. The technician returned and told me that we have a problem. They informed me that they had already disposed of my tires a while ago. I questioned the sales associate and asked what if I want to decline their services? I never signed any agreements and they threw away my property. I had a car with only two tires. How could l leave? They really took advantage of me. That was the worst customer service presented to me. Talk about having your hands tied behind your back. I’m filing a complaint with BBB.

Pros: First time here. Received a pretty good car alignment and had a good conversation with the employee; didn’t wait too long either and chairs are socially distant. But I won’t be back. Near the end of service, they tell me what’s wrong, making it seem like it’s absolutely needed because my belt was in very bad shape. Gave me an educational talk about what is needed and why—with a hefty estimate, making it seem like I had no choice at first. They make it seem like it’s a life or death thing and it’s just a sales tactic that doesn’t work with me. I’d also call the employee sexist for using this tactic on me, a young female. I’m going to my trusted mechanic next time.

DO NOT COME HERE I use to service my vehicles here but no longer coming ever again. I recently came to get a oil change done and balance and rotation. I purchased life time balancing one year ago and the representative told me I didnt have it. I even showed him the receipt and told me it was a wheel alignment life time that I had purchased. I then found notes where it literally said life time balancing and then he acknowledge. BUT thats not all before check out they came with a list of things that I needed to do to my vehicle and from that list there was like 5 things on there and only 1 thing needed to be done the rest was FALSE because i had recently done them. THATS NOT ALL when I got my vehicle back I inspected if balancing and rotation were perform and they were not at all. Note I mark my tires etc. ALL they did was put air. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS DISHONEST PLACE.

I gave them EXPLICIT directions to do a tire installation on my front tires because they were extremely worn out and one of them was leaking, and they went against my better judgment and installed them on the back, when I confronted them with the matter they gave me a whole story about why they were right and I was wrong. I am extremely livid because not only did I ask them to change it back and they tried to get me to wait even longer, but they also took my back tires which were in fairly good conditions. I do not recommend you bring your vehicle here because that would be inconvenience to your time and your wallet.

It’s really really sad to mention this thing right here, so it happens like this, I got flat tier and I was with my 6 month old baby and my wife in my car, we are driving to west suburbs and it was around 5:30pm, this thing happened, I called to local tier repair shop, there said we are about to close at 5:40pm. then I called Pep boys at Skokie, and said about the issue, so the person on call said how long it takes you to get here I mentioned like 9mins to get there, he said fine I will see what I can do, I said no I am with my family if you can fix my car today itself I will drive up to your store!! He said cool bring your car, so I drive 9 mins with my family in my car to store, and the time was 5:55pm and walk in and greet the person at reception, who’s name was AC and he’s welcome was not appreciated, then I said as you mentioned I drive here with my car to fix my tier, He replied me drop your car we will get doen by tomorrow, I said what??? Just now you told me to come over now this what you say? I have to drive back to suburbs!! I said if you guys can fix today I will bring my car I said it on call,now you are saying can’t fix now?Then why the hell you said me to drive down here? You would have said me on the phone, then he started yelling at me and being super rude, I said I need to speak with your manager about this issue, and talk about your behavior and rudeness, Instead of being polite he was super arrogant, rude and disrespectful, when I said about I will talk to your manager he ask me to give him my cars key to fix the tier, I said no I don’t want to repair my car to this kind of people who don’t know how to treat customers, first he said can’t fix my car, later on when I said I need to speak with your manager he said he will repair my car, I said this how you treat our customers?? The sales person Name was AC, I don’t recommend anyone to visit this location, no professionalism to manners to welcome customers by greeting, no friendly staff. Really disappointed 0stars then I called tow truck and reache to other tires repair shop and they fix my car on spot, really worst experience. I want management to take action against that sales person, His name is AC. And Like to hear feedback from the manager.

Stay away at all costs... had the very first appointment (8am), needed a bulb replacement and an oil change. Finally left at 9:58am, nearly two hours later. They were dismissive, passive, and acted like I was causing them the problem. Worst part was the lethargic and slow-moving “cashier” who didn’t say a word to me, explained nothing, didn’t thank me, and couldn’t have moved slower.

Ok this is by far the worst place to get anything done on your car. Run away and go anywhere else! I had a flat on my car and they told me I needed all four tires so I decided to change all four tires this was quoted at around $500 dollars at 1:45 pm. Then they came to me around 3 pm saying I needed to replace 2 bolts they broke off worth $70 plus each. I said screw it I needed my car so fix it and get it done! 6pm came and no one said anything to me about my car I was waiting and waiting and finally I asked when my car was done and they told me it’s been done. Don’t come here they are unprofessional and could care less about their job. No one cares here. Again go to a real car shop.....

Stay away unless you have no other options. First inwas told theyll take about two hours to change my tires, four hours later they finally called the work was done (after they tried selling me breaks that I desperately needed - which was not true). I came out about 45 minutes later to pick up the car just to wait on the service advisor to finish texting and playing with his cell phone in front of everyone. Checkout process took well over 30 minutes because they run computers - as they told me back from the 60s. Once I finally got in my car (at this point hour and a half later) I found my cars engine in the operating temperature (which should not be the case after hour and a half in little over 50 degrees weather) and my interior wreaking of my cologne from the glove box (still wreaks two days later)... Money wise I believe I got screwed since when I ordered the tires, installation price was $66 to install and that $66 ended up being $270 after 1-year alignment was added ($66 was actually $76 for basic service and they nickled and dime-ed me for lifetime tire rotation, TPMS service, shop fees, disposal fees, bunch of stuff that was never disclosed on the web). Break job i was quoted was over $900 where parts cost (priced on their website all 4 rotor and 8 break pads) were $156 (so $750 for labor on 1-2 hour job). As soon as I left the place, i went to another local shop and they quoted me $450 for the break job with parts included.

Absolutely amazing service. A.C. gave us the most honest and great service. He wasnt pushy with any of the services. In fact, he was making sure I got the best deal possible. As my tires were being changed, they noticed a huge dent and crack on the rim. It was very unsafe to be driving that way. A.C went above and beyond to help me get a new rim, and find information of where I could find the best deal. Needless to say, this is the best service I have ever received at an auto service store. Hands down recommend!!!!

Have gone here a few times due to living close by, but the friendliness and helpfulness of Drew has me actually looking forward to coming back. In the time that I was waiting on a tire rotation, I saw Drew go above and beyond for every customer that walked in the door. It was great. My car broke down on Saturday late afternoon. I bought a new battery and still didnt work. So the next day I took to Pepboys and the employee on duty was a very nice gentleman Mr. David Sarangay. He is a very extraordinary man and very helpful. I went to change oil, wiper and headlight for Hyundai Tucson. The guy who took my order assured me that it will be no longer that 2 hours. I waited all that time at the pep Boys realizing after all they didn’t even started the job. After 2 hours the guy approached me and told me that there is no need oil change. It’s really so funny. Poor attitude. Way understaffed all the time!

David could hear it in my voice that I was extremely upset about the service I received and he not only called me personally but he listened to my frustrations and he did just enough to bring me back as a loyal client.I’ve been using this pep boys for many years and most of the time I have nothing but great things to say about this location. I appreciate David honesty and him taking the time out his day to rectify the situation. My experience here was absolutely amazing! I had placed an order for tires online and received an email that they were in. Not only did I receive and email, but a phone call as well. I was pleasantly surprised that they were in so fast, and I was contacted in more ways then one. The day came of my appointment and I was right on time. As I approached the counter I was greeted in a manner that you dont normally see anymore, anywhere. After waiting approximately 15 minutes, The manager Kevin came out and told me that the tires were the wrong size. That the online store had not selected the right ones, and if I could give him a few minutes he would call around and see if a fellow store might have the right ones. I was a bit upset, seeing as though they were special order. Kevin had found the right ones luckily, and asked if there was anything else i needed. He replaced my wiper blades, and made conversation with me while I patiently waited for the tires to arrive and be put on. He apologized sincerely and never made me feel as if it were my fault about the mistake. I will definitely come back to this store for the hospitality and service. Kevin is more than a great hire, he is irreplaceable.

I had a very positive experience with this store. The people were nice and knowledgeable. The repairs were done in a timely manner. Over all I would give this store a five star rating. Kevin and Jason were very hands on in the store. Kevins management skills showed to be top notch in dealing with questions, etc. I would recommend this store to my friends any day. Good job.

Don’t ever trust them on their warranty they don’t have it. they are just cheating people on their warranty. I bought tire and I had warranty the warranty was 40,000 miles and one year. Then I was driving 12,000 miles and the front two tires makes bubbles after that I went to the pep boys auto shop and they tried to charge me 120%. I don’t know what kind of warranty was it. I don’t recommend to anyone if you wanna go to the pep boys your gonna west your money.

My second encounter was to purchase two tires. I called requested that my original purchase profile be looked up, for tire size they said model of tire is discontinued but replacement is available and costs less. Informed me to just show up and no appointment needed and tire size in stock. This was too good to be true, I wasted my time, tire not in stock and appointment was needed. My second attempt was similar in that The system shows in stock but we cant find. Inventory system is failing yielding bad customer service to paying customers.

Have nothing negative or positive to say. I didnt want to rate this review but had no other option than to give it 1 star. I was a new walk in customer at PepBoys and wanted to see if they had time to work on my front brakes of my car or if I had to reschedule for a appointment.So they checked the schedule and was able to fill me in toward the end of the day. So, I asked the customer service worker how much would it be to have my breaks done because I wanted to make sure I have enough money to pay the bill when its all done and over with.So the customer service worker had to ask the manager about a estimate price for replacement ceramic front breaks for my car. And the manager was like (oh you should never give a customer a estimate price on how much it would cost) (Red Flag) So the manager mentioned to the customer service worker that itll be $490.00 (Another Red Flag)So I decided to decline the repair service and seek other opportunities.

Stopped by for replacement wiper blades. Was given outstanding service even though my purchase was relatively small. When I couldnt remove my old blades, the clerk came out and did it for me! The store is clean and well-organized. Stock looked to be plentiful. Management was visible and involved in the business. I plan to return for service to my car soon.

I stopped by this Pep Boys Skokie location over the weekend after placing an order online to pay at store and for pickup. Once I got there, Alicia assisted me with with my order, and was I glad that she was the person assisting me. Well an issue occurred where an employee took my order pickup that was set aside for me when I went to go pick it up. Apparently, that was the last one in stock but I guess another employee thought it was ok to give to another customer instead of checking the inventory first. Since my part was no longer in stock, Alicia went out of her way to resolve this issues. She looked all over the storage room again and even tried calling other stores to see if my part was there for me. Since the part I ordered was not near 20 miles from my location, she just gave me a discount on an equivalent part for the same discounted price. She made sure I was completely satisfied with my experience and the way she treats you as a customer, she really does seem to care. Havent had this type of awesome customer service in such a long time that I had to write this review. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ALICIA! Thanks Again!

If you need a battery change NEVER go to this location. Extremely poor customer service and they wont do the job right. Save your money, go somewhere else!Heres the long story:This was the worst service experience I ever had at a Pep Boys. I went in on a busy Saturday because I needed a new battery for my car. I made the service appointment for 3 hours later in the day but when I showed up they were surprised to see me. I told them TWICE the model of my car and explained that my car wont start and that I thought I needed a new battery. After waiting another 30 min they finally went to work on my car. They swapped out the battery in my car before testing if the old battery or the car starter was the problem. After I paid, I went to test out my car and it still wouldnt start with the new battery. I went back and they said we did what you told us and said that my key was the problem. My car ended up being worse off with the new battery. I went to the Cadillac dealership to figure out the problem and they told me that Pep Boys put the wrong type of battery in the car and that it messed with some of my cars electronics. They then proceeded to swap it for the right one. I was for an entire week without a car, until I had time to bring it to the dealership. You think that the mechanics at Pep Boys would know how to swap out a simple battery. It ended up costing me a lot more money to get it fixed at the dealership all because of Pep Boys negligence.

Been here since 3pm. Clerk told me it would be 1.5 hrs. I go next door to Bar louie for 2 hrs. Come back and see my truck hasnt moved. I go back to the same clerk and ask how much longer. He says theres still 2 cars ahead of you thats why i said were only taking drop off. I reply you told me 1.5 hrs. not to drop off. They take my truck in while we are talking and he says they should be done in an hour. That was 5:15 pm. Its now 7:40 twenty minutes till closing WTF man.

I came in over the weekend because I had a flat tire and Jeff was great and greeted me at the door. Jeff was friendly and kept me engaged while they took care of my flat tire for free, since Im a rewards member now. It was my first time at this store but Kevin the manager explained the benefits and signed me up right away. He even gave me a cold drink while I waited for them to finish fixing my flat tire. They also topped off my fluids and offered to install my wiper blades for free that I had in my back seat. Kevin and his team have a gained a customer for life.

The staff is nice, but the service is dis-appointing.I made an appointment to get four tires for my vehicle. I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled time and was told that I was next in line. Over an hour later, my car had not moved and I was told that my appointment only put me ahead of people who show up after me. I left without new tires and made an appointment at a place who can keep an appointment, Acorn Tires on Lincoln and McCormick.There are at least 8 lifts at this Pep Boys location. Why cant one or two of those be reserved for customers who make appointments? Dont offer a service (appointments) that you cannot provide. This policy wasted my time, mileage, and any potential that I will return or recommend them for automotive needs. I presume this disrespectful standard to be true for all locations. Please change the policy or eliminate the useless option to schedule maintenance.

I want to be clear I used to really like bringing my work vehicles and personal vehicles here that’s no longer the case(5 star review like). The service department now has some very shady business practices this use to not be the case. I just inquired about an installation of a serpentine belt a pretty easy job. The part bought from the retail side of the store 25.00 with discount the service department wanted to charge me 90.00 and I know this job shouldn’t take more then 1 hours realistically 30mins. They wanted to charging me 275.00 for the parts and labor that’s just a bad way to run a business I am no longer going to bring any of trucks here. I would advise anyone looking to have work done look elsewhere this place has gone down hill.

I brought my company van in on Thursday 12/21. It’s Thursday 12/28 and I never got a call or a status update. I called them and was placed on hold for 28 minutes. I hung up and called back, this time they askif I mind being placed on hold and before I could answer they put me on hold. I was on hold for another 14 minutes before I hung up, called back and refused to be put on hold anymore. It was ready and I’m sure it’s been ready.This is poor service. We brought the same van in a month prior to fix. They again never called and we had to call them. The guys excuse for not calling back was he was off.As a manager in a customer oriented field, I understand that I’m not a mechanic, but a little courtesy would be nice.If they are so busy that they need to place people on hold for 45 minute. I’m sure their garage is full and a Ford E series van is not a smart car it’s a behemoth. If they would have called when it was ready, we could have came and got it and freed up some space.Do they know how to work a phone?They know how to use the hold button that’s for sure.

Not sure what the point of making an appointment is if you wait an hour and your car still isnt in the shop being worked on! Unfortunately this is the second time (out of three visits). Employees are friendly enough but I wont be returning for services here. Would rather have my time respected more.

I was hesitant to bring my car in because I wasnt sure what was wrong, and didnt want to be over-charged, but Kevin S. was extremely knowledgeable and helpful- finding the best options, not piling on too many projects and bills all at once, he explained everything that was done, as well as what can wait for the future, and made sure his team (Eric and Joe, also great employees!) completed everything in a timely manner. I can truly tell my car is running smoother and more efficiently now . I suppose Ill need to come back soon and get the rest of the work I need done before you promote him- he deserves it! Thanks Pep Boys!

WORTHLESS ONLINE SCHEDULINGBasically, their online scheduling is completely worthless because it doesnt align with whats actually available at a location. I scheduled to get two tires installed, only to have the customer service guy at this location tell me my online appointment didnt align with his schedule and that Id have to leave my car there for 2-3 hours before he could get to it. I just told him to forget about it.

Very good service. The customer service staff is usually very friendly and helpful. I have experienced some problems while having my car serviced there however once I brought the issue up the the employee they were very good about responding to the issue and trying to resolve it right away. Ive yet had an issue that they were not able to resolve.
