Walked in to their store to inquire for my very first roof rack system ( Yakima ). Murphy showed me and explain everything that i need to know. Excellent customer service and he will guide you through the whole process of your buying experience. After a couple of days, i went back to get the cargo box ( Inno Wedge 660 ). Max and Ryan helped me out this time. They make sure to get the box that i wanted and double checked if everything is in perfect shape and if i am satisfied before they attached it on my roof. I am very happy and satisfied with my buying experience with them. Will definitely come back and will only get my cargo rack needs only from these guys. I highly recommend this place. I went to Rack Attack Chicago to look for a hitch platform bike rack (Got the Thule T2 Pro). Murphy, the manager, was very knowledgeable about all the various models and very patiently and thoroughly answered all my (numerous) questions. I never felt rushed or that my questions were unimportant. It was a great experience overall and Id definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

In our recent out of state move to Chicagoland, I lost my Thule Apex keys. Ive searched online and fiddled around with the lock since for the most part its supposed to be easy once you identify the serial no. for the key: N***. For some reason, my piece didnt come with the serial no. engraved anywhere. Took my rack to Rack Attack and one of the gents went through pretty much every Thule key until he found the right key. He went inside for a min. came back out with a new set of keys and 2 cylinders; changed out the cylinders and gave me the new keys. I was pretty stoked that this was resolved so I asked him what I owed him for the new locks. He said, its an even exchange, his cylinders with mine, so he charged me nothing.What? What in the world? Am I in Thule heaven? Nope, I was just in good hands with the Rack Attack folks. These guys are extremely helpful and I would recommend them highly. I had done my research, I knew I would love the Ikamper roof top tent. What I wasn’t expecting was the exceptional friendly, kind, and informative staff at Rack Attack Chicago! I have 2 Fat Tire E Bikes on order to add to our adventure fun, I will be returning to Rack Attack for a swing out Bike Rack they demonstrated while we were there.

Purchased my very first bike rack(Yakima) from here. These guys sure do live up to their 5.0 star rating. Walked in and was greeted by one of the guys, who very politely and kindly walked me through the options explaining the minor details, un-boxed the rack before me, and helped installing onto my cars hitch. It was really nice to see the rooftop cargo boxes before buying it. Excellent service from the crew at Rack Attack. Murphy showed me the cargo boxes, explained the differences between each one and answered all the questions I had about them. I was able to place a phone order the next day once I decided on which box to buy. Came in a few days later to pick up the box when my crossbar was installed and Ryan quickly installed them and showed me how it worked. Overall, highly recommended and customer service was excellent. Rack Attack is a very helpful place if you need extra storage capacity for your vehicle. I wanted an extra cargo box for my CRV roof rack. I was able to talk to someone on the phone and they gave me all the information I needed in regards to picking the correct box for my vehicle. I purchased over the phone and went to the store to pick it up. They pull the new cargo box out of the shipping box and started to show me how to install it on my vehicle. Unfortunately the cargo box I purchased was the last in stock and was damaged. Rack Attack let me know they could not sell that box due to the extensive damage. Rack Attack handle the situation well and provided multiple options to get a new cargo box. We talked through all the options and I was able to make the best decision for my needs based on the information provided. I didnt need the cargo box right away, so I was able to wait a few weeks for the next store shipment. I was put at the top of the list to receive a new box once they arrive. For me, this was the best solution to an unfortunate situation.

Typically the car bike racks are an afterthought at most bike shops, outdoor sporting good stores, & most definitely the last thing those stores seem to educate their full staff on... Rack Attack was quite the opposite; incredibly knowledgeable & welcoming staff, speedy service, & absolutely dedicated to all things car racks. Wasn’t quite sure exactly what type of rack I would want for my specific bike, though the staff quickly identified the unique features of my ride & presented the options, even noting special features available with an upgraded rack - but explained the savings I’d receive by not buying the accessory separately.I’ll absolutely be returning as a customer & recommending this location to everyone I know! These guys know their stuff. I walked in with little to no information. Both employees who assisted me were great! (Wish I remembered their names) They spent almost 30-40 minutes discussing all my possible options for a roof rack. They said it straight and pointed me in the right direction. If they didn’t know something they didn’t just lie to make a sale. They said “let’s find out together” hopped on the computer and looked up anything we could find to better learn what I needed. I called the next day and purchased my Thule Motion XT L. Installed in a few minutes and drove to Colorado and back with everything my wife and I needed, and some. Thank you again. For the most part, stellar experience (and products) - I originally ordered a full set of Thule roof racks, cargo box - the whole nine yards. After a little over a month of waiting, I decided to finally call Thule corporate and found out that one of the fit kits were actually discontinued. Not in any way Rack Attacks issue. But did inform Thule that they should notify their vendors/suppliers of such issue so that in the future, this wouldnt occur as most people in my position may not have been as understanding.Anyways, decided to then install cancel part of my order (roof rack) and purchased OEM cross bars instead, once this arrived, I still had Rack Attack install the Thule Motion XT cargo box on top and it mounted just fine. Only reason for four stars was the simple fact that I noticed scuff marks on my driver side A-pillar post install, I inquired with Jacob/Jake (?) and he wasnt sure where that came from. Not blaming them per se, but I know this wasnt there prior to the install. I was able to rid of the marks with a little rubbing compound and buffer once I got home.One also slight sidebar was my refund process, not on RackAttacks end, but I believe my merchant provider had a hiccup, as when the refund was issued by RA, it first showed up fine, but then disappeared for a few days which got me worried. However, about a week later, all cleared as processed and my refund was reinstated in full. Both Jake/Jacob and the manager, Murphy, were absolutely stellar from start to finish.Would do business with again.

Rack Attack made buying a bike rack that fit my familys needs and cars specifications very simple. They were immediately responsive to my initial inquiries online, and then when i showed up in the store, they efficiently walked me through a couple of options and 15 minutes later i was proud owner of a great new rack! (They also opened the box and double checked that it had all the necessary pieces before loading it in my car, which i appreciated.)

Excellent experience overall! I ride a recumbent bike (Rans V-Rex) and was looking to upgrade my bike rack. I left with the bike on the rack and most importantly, confident in how to securely transport. The team worked well together to solve an issue we were having in one of the features of the rack. I would highly recommend without hesitation.

I was looking everywhere for a Thule cargo carrier and all online and local retailers were on backorder. I called Rack Attack to inquire for availability and I was placed on hold for over an hour (I called on a weekend so they were very busy). I called again on a weekday and I was placed on a shorter hold. I was able to find my product in stock and purchased it over the phone. The wait is a little too long for my liking but it’s worth it because they take their time to answer questions and explain a solution. I will be purchasing from them again and recommend them to anyone looking for outdoor gear.

I initially called to check availability of a Thule hitch mounted storage container after calling around to multiple other stores that were listed on the Thule website. The associate was extremely professional and friendly answering all my questions . I ended going in that same day to buy the unit and I also had the shop assemble the product for me for a minimal fee. When I arrived, the team took the time to show me how it installed on my car and again were extremely helpful in answering all my questions. Definitely white glove treatment and a great experience. They installed a trailer hitch on my brand new 2020 Toyota Sienna and helped me deal with the sub sub sub par service from Toyota, so good on ya Rack Attack.I recently purchased a brand new Sienna from the Lincolnwood, IL dealership and after we signed the agreement, after they agreed to install the trailer hitch, they came back and said they no longer do that, have someone else do it. Thus Rack Attack.Everything went swimmingly until a friend noticed that our right rear brake light did not work. One of those things you never notice unless you have 1 person stepping on the brakes while another looks at the lights.Took it back to Rack Attack and the said they never touched the right rear light, but they would take a look and found that there was a loose connection somewhere in the assembly. They demonstrated that when you touch the assembly, it would turn off and on.Took it back to Toyota (you never see the technician) and after several back and forth conversations, the service representative told me that the fault was a short in the wiring harness for the trailer hitch. The technician was 110% certain, his words.Took it back to Rack Attack and they figured, why not trot on over to the car parts store nearby and buy a new bulb for the 6 month old Toyota and see if that fixes it.Sure enough, that was the only problem: a faulty bulb from the Toyota factory and the Toyota technician obviously could not be bothered doubting Toyota assembly process, without even looking at it, therefore the fault was with the wiring harness... yeah right.Thank you Rack Attack for spending the extra time getting me street legal again despite Toyotas complete failure to right their wrong.

All of the Thule cargo carriers were backordered 6-8 weeks online. I called Rack Attack and they said they were also out of stock, but would take my info. Within 2 weeks, Jacob followed up and said they had found one. They assembled everything and loaded it in my vehicle. Excellent customer service!

We cant say enough about how terrific our recent experience was when purchasing a new bike rack at Rack Attack Chicago! Everyone we spoke to was really friendly, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. Our installation was super efficient, yet they took all the time we needed to make certain we knew all the features and how to fully utilize our new rack. The 75 minute drive for us to get to their location and the extra expense to have them build and install the rack was worth every penny and then some. The guys at Rack Attack knew exactly what I needed to solve my roof rack system. I found three different systems online for my vehicle, but they had different specs. For something this important (no one wants a failure while camping hundreds of miles from home!) doing it myself for about the same price didn’t make sense.

Skills, honesty, and really low service costs. It’s almost as cheap as UHaul, but people actually get quality service. It’s a wild world out there. Compared reviews to UHaul, REI, and Masterhitch. It’s nice to get accurate service, and it helps to actually plan ahead.

Nothing but nice things to say about this place. I first approached them two years ago and was talked out of installing a kayak rack on my car at the time- even though meant there would be no sale. (It was Do-able, but not advisable and would not meet my needs) I returned last week with my new, better-suited car and we were able to move forward. They had honest answers for all my specific questions and I left with a brand new Thule kayak rack and peace of mind that I made the right choice with the right people. I only hope that getting a fishing kayak will be as pleasant an experience...

Needed a roof rack as well as a hitch installed on my van so I gave these folks a call. Giovanni (I hope I’m spelling that right), answered and walked me through options for a rack as well as a hitch. He was knowledgeable about the products that they had as well as suggesting what fit my budget. Soon as it was squared away over the phone I drove to the shop to pick up and he helped me with the installation of the roof rack (have to go back for hitch as it was back ordered). Super helpful in terms of things I should remember when adjusting etc.Pro tip: I highly recommend paying for the installation as while it’s doable on your own (I’m pretty handy myself), it would’ve taken me a few hours of adjusting and fidgeting to get it right, while Giovanni knocked the install in 15-20 min.Was definitely a great experience and am highly satisfied!

The Associate that helped me find the bike rack I bought was great. He was honest in informing me of the current stock issues with lack of manufacturing and shipping due to the pandemic, and the probability of when the rack I wanted would be in stock. I bought a great rack, but unfortunately due to my bikes design it doesnt sit perfectly on a hanging rack, even with an adapter bar. It will do for now, but when inventory gets replenished I will be returning to Rack Attack for a platform rack as a replacement.

I have been searching for a bike rack both on line and at a few stores. A bit overwhelming with all the options and it was hard to find someone well versed in the various products. Stumbled upon Rack Attack Chicago in Skokie, glad I did. The manager of the store, Will, answered all my questions and steered me into a bike rack I was not considering but made sense for my needs. Had them assemble the rack, the Kuat Sherpa 2.0. It was done in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost too! Have already put on nearly 800 miles at highway speeds and my hybrid bicycles are plenty secure on the Kuat. When it comes time for a kayak carrier, I know I will be returning to Rack Attack Chicago.

I have bought from RA in the past, online, not knowing they have a store in Chicago. I have a fairly large set up on my Tundra but bought from craigslist to attach to my van.After following the instructions from Yakima the system for my van isnt attaching...So I stop into the Skokie store asking for some help. The tech behind the counter spent 45mins with me trying to find a solution and looking through vids online trying to get an idea on how to make it work since its the recommended system per Yaki. It was not to be but when all else failed my man said to call the gurus at Yakima and see what they know. He gave me their number and said that they would work with me to make it right.That my friends is the long lost art of true customer service. These guys know it.... thanks again

Purchased and had them install a hitch to our old car. Did a great job. So much easier than putting the bikes on the roof. Takes about two hours.

The staff at Rack Attack on Dempster St were so helpful as I selected my first bike rack for my car. They patiently answered all my questions and recommended a few different models at different price points to meet my needs. On the day of installation, they were able to install the hitch and rack in under an hour! I recommend them highly to anyone considering a bike rack for their vehicle. Im excited to use my Kuat Sherpa rack in the near future!

Great experience here as I wasnt 100% informative on what type of roof top to get but the great folks here made sure to be helpful to point me in the right direction. What also helped was showing me how to install the box on top of my Acura RDX. I will recommend this business to other who may be looking to add these type of accessories to their car!

Will and his crew were fantastic to work with - they are professional and well informed on their product line. Their installation was timely and thorough. I took my new Thule roof rack and Vector Alpine on an 800mile road trip shortly after installation and it all performed perfectly. Excellent service and operation!

Friendly staff were very accommodating to go back to the huge warehouse to check for stock that was hard hit during the reopening after COVID-19, but I got out with a nifty Thule square bar setup for my 16 Honda Fit, and I was back the following week to snag a fork-mount bicycle trough that hangs on to my disk brake Jamis tightly with torque to spare (thank you for letting me set that up in the lot!) 10/10 would recommend.

The bike rack I was looking to buy was listed on the Rack Attack website as in store only. I emailed the Chicago store which is the the closest store to me and is still about a 2 and half hour drive for me with good traffic. Ryan actually called me instead of just responding to the email to let me know the bike rack I was looking for, as well as most bike racks right now are on back order for 6-8 weeks. After some discussion about what I was looking for and the frustration I was having with trying to order a bike rack from other online stores, he informed me that they had one rack in store that was similar to what I was looking for. He even offered to drive it half way to deliver it after the store closed if I didn’t want to wait for it to get shipped. I didn’t need it that quick so I used the free UPS ground shipping the store offers. I received an UPS tracking number email within 20 minutes and received the rack the next day. Thanks Ryan for the great customer service. Your knowledge of the product, taking the time to call to help me find a solution to what I was looking for instead of just emailing to say the product I asked about wasn’t in stock, and offering to go out of your way after hours to make sure I got the item quickly has definitely made Rack Attack a store I will highly recommend to my friends and will be my first choice for future rack related purchases.

I had a road trip ahead of me and was in need of cargo space. I came in to just ask questions about cargo box rentals. The store manager provided me with options and had great knowledge about roof racks. I ended up buying a detachable roof rack system and crossbar set that were better quality than, yet similarly priced to, the factory OEM system that I was originally looking into. They installed it on another visit and I also ended up renting a Thule cargo box for the trip. My road trip was so much more enjoyable with the extra space in the trunk. It was a necessity, in the end. I can’t thank the staff enough. And, to me, the price for cargo box rentals was very reasonable. I also lucked out on the roof rack system, which ended up being on sale. As long as I’m road tripping and living in Chicago, I’ll be doing business with these guys, even if I have to drive an hour out with a crying baby. For road trips, they are well worth it.

Awesome spot to get proper installs for both Hitch - Roof Rack Options. They take the time to make sure youre getting exactly what your car needs before the install. If we have folks in our shop ask about hitch installs this is the spot we reference! Highly recommend!
