Not a whole lot of variety compared to Home Depot or Menard’s but I dig the personalised customer service/advice at Crafty Beaver

Friendly Staff, great prices on lumber while Lowes and Home Depot are gouging us with over inflated prices.Would highly recommend them, its worth the trip.Could use a bit more staff in the yard on weekends..

Easy to find what youre looking for. All sorts and sizes of trim that you can buy in custom lengths. Helpful employees.

All the aisles were clearly labeled. Customer service was outstanding. The attendants were helpful, both inside and outside of store. Prices were good. And what we were looking for was available. Also the promotion at the register was true. We were out of the store within 30 minutes after getting what we needed!

Not hardware store but lumber yard. Prices a little higher, but material was really superior to big box stores and although service was typically slower they were very accommodating.

A nice alternative to the blue or orange box box stores.

I have always loved Crafty Beaver - Skokie. I am so impressed with the way they are handling the Covid situation. No plexiglass walls at the cashiers, but an ingenious use of plastic bins to place products into that can be moved across a 6 foot counter. Tom was my customer service rep and my cashier. I felt safe AND welcomed, AND found all the items that I needed (plus some extras). Kudos to Crafty Beaver!

Great spot for any odd pieces. Home Depot is great for most things but Home Depot has employees that are typically nowhere to be found or simply dont know the products. This place on the other hand has great customer service and they are very knowledgeable and it feels like a family business rather than some large corporation. Each time they were very helpful and had some products that even Home Depot didnt carry! Great store!

Quite, place closes at 6pm about an hour, people are friendly, eat to park.

Quick and easy ordering and got what I needed

What was once a very busy place and if say that probably for every crafty Beaver Ive frequented, its now less busy and Id say less stuffed. Although its still carrying all you might need around the house or perhaps for a Remodeling job, but price wise cant really do what the big guys do...

Customer service is out of this world.....their personal are extremely professional..... Dont ever bother with Menards or Home Depot again...... Ive been in the business 45 years.....

Terrible - do not shop here. I have tried to go here several times for various items and the employees are clueless. Today, I called and asked a simple question - Do you have LP siding and trim? The person I was talking to said yes, what are you looking for? I said I needed 1x6 LP trim finished white on one side - simple enough. The guy tells me they have plenty in stock. I send my guy over to the store to get it. When he gets there, no one is in the lumber yard and the guys up front have to open it up. No LP trim to be found - a complete waste of time and now we cant finish the job today. Go to Evanston Lumber - their staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.

I have been shopping at crafty Beaver stores for over 45 years.I have shopped at many of the stores under The crafty Beaver name because I was a longtime multiple building landlord, and now I am retired, so I shop at the Skokie store.it has been a very good experience even for major lumber orders and plumbing, electrical and general hardware for all of those years

The staff members are wouderful they answer your questions. They are better then the box store.

Much easier to find friendly, helpful staff than anywhere else. Not as much inventory as the bigger places, but they have all the important stuff.

Always like to shop local. They will give you good advice even if to refer you elsewhere. Very patient, pleasant and helpful.

I ordered lumber a week in advance and asked for morning delivery, which they can do if the queue is not already full.I received an urgent phone msg yesterday asking if materials could be delivered first thing, but not specifying any time.That would be GREAT, since it IS what I requested.Well, I didnt get the msg until 2:30pm because I was working.I called but delivery people had left for the day. I called a cell phone number provided on their voice msg but got no answer. I left a msg.I just called at 9am to check on my delivery.They said, everyone is out. Maybe between 11-12?I can only guess that Im being penalized for not returning the call soon enough AND Im sure they make a lot of deliveries where the person isnt on site. Im sure this screws up their day.However, I am not at fault. I should not be penalized because OTHER people are screw ups.If I hadnt called on my delivery, then what? I mean if it gets here before noon, that is still morning....but I didnt request morning, because i want it delivered at noon!

Knowledgablr and friendly folk. Usually find exactly what I need. The only thing I wish was different is if they didnt sell glue traps. Theyre really cruel.

This is the best hardware store Ive ever been to. The service is unmatched. One time I went for pallets to keep things off the floor in my basement, can I buy some? I asked, pointing to their stack, no, theyre free. How many do you want? He even helped me load them in my truck.Another time I was building a shelf for my workbench, a guy there patiently looked as I sketched out what I wanted, fished out the parts I needed out of the scrap bins, cut them down to size, and carried all the materials I needed to the check out, it was like a ready to assemble kit. Total cost $4I would have been left for dead at a big box hardware store, if we dont support these guys then we deserve the non-service we get at the big hardware chains
