Quaint soda fountain with amazing flavors of ice cream. The Creole flavor was good with a sweat (probably coconut) bite. The Unicorn Poop was too sweet for me. 🦄 I also really liked the variety of ice cream scoops that were displayed. We didnt play, but there was an arcade in the back room and what appeared to be the start of a mini-golf course out back. Parking was a bit hard to find, but seemed typical for the area.
Ive been going to the soda shop for years ever since I was a kid. When I heard it was getting new owners I was hoping that the place would not change. It did change... for the better. The new owners are nice and I think the place looks cleaner and feels like it has a more friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Loved stopping here. My husband and I shared a banana split. Although it is still Togo, they allow you to sit at their tables/booths to eat if you want. All ice-cream is made in house weekly. The flavors are very good. We had sweet cream, dark chocolate and chocolate ripple (they were out of strawberry). Lots of specials and all the flavors can be found on their FB page. Parking can be difficult if not staying in the area as there are quite a few bars, restaurants and ax throwing places located all within 2 blocks off a common 4 way stop in Olde Town.
Great spot! This is one of those places where you can go and hang a while. Food, desserts, arcade, and a nice backyard hangout complete with birds, a fountain and books. So many different desserts to try! Aside from the food (boudin egg rolls?! What?!), we got mint chip and pecan praline ice cream and they were SO good. Everything made in house. Will definitely be back!
Took the kids here for a late lunch. Place was a disaster and completely disorganized. Food came out piecemeal over the course of an hour with some of it cold as it “just came out of the kitchen”. One of the cheeseburgers we ordered may have seen the grill, but given how pink it was, that’s questionable. First kid was done with his food for over 30 minutes while other kids were still waiting on theirs. Place might be ok if you just want an ice cream cone, but I would not go here for anything past that.
This is one of my old favorite spots! Outstanding old town Soda/Ice Scream Parlor....Excellent! Must go spot!
First time with the new owner and seems to be going the wrong way with this place. I ordered a Chili with the bread bowl. Was not told till the food came they were out. Too that off it’s a can of hornet from the store that they took right out of the fridge and didn’t even warm up. Also only have bottled drinks so for the kids I got waters and said from the tap. I was told only had bottled water. Found out late that wasn’t true. The old owners seem to have better setup. Just a arcade with sub par games and food. I sure hope this can change it to be a better place instead fo just trying to squeeze money from people.
So disappointed. Looking for a fun dinner night with the kids. UNORGANIZED, rude workers, over priced for the quality. Ordered 3 cheese burger meals. Rude worker delivered our meals. No cheese, patties hard as a rock. Ordered dressed cheese burgers NOT. We had end of tomatoes for our tomatoe slices. Will never go back. Cute place but horrible food & service.
What a hidden gem! The ice cream is handmade and delicious, I had 2 scoops one creole cream cheese, and Spumoni. My wife had the rocky road in a sugar cone, she thought it was delicious. They also have many other items on the menu including a large assortment of flavored sodas. Upon arriving it was as if I walked through a time machine and stepped off in the 50s. Lastly the service is grand, and the owner is nice.Stop by and see Mr. Frank if your in the area. You won’t regret it!
Love this place! If you are visiting town, this place is a must. Little pricey, but the ice cream is homemade and is super delicious. They also sell some toys, candy, and other homemade treats. Its such a fun environment and all the workers are very nice
Cutest little place! Great for a date or just a spontaneous sundae. Ice cream isn’t half bad either.
Love this place. I have been going here since I was a kid and now I bring my son here. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, great ice cream.
Mine and my husband’s Chicken sandwich was pretty dry. Other than that we had a blast playing the games, and the ice cream was amazing!!! Also can’t wait to go back and play putt putt golf!!
Delicious ice cream and enormous servings. Staff very patient and gentle with kids. We spent a great family time!
Love this place ice cream good game room love it
Old Town Slidell Soda Shop is the perfect place for children and families of all ages!! My wife and I brought our kid here for the first time and they had a BLAST! They had a ball collecting tickets and eating the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, hot dogs and chicken tenders in between the shenanigans! The food tasted good but it was a bit overpriced. That is the only reason I didn’t give the place 5 stars. We got a cheeseburger and fries, chicken strips and fries, a hot dog, two sodas and two ice creams. They have an arcade where your kids can put quarters or dollars into the machine and collect tickets to redeem for candies at the checkout register. They have a couple pinball machines that don’t dispense redeemable tickets, but I thoroughly enjoyed playing them. I even helped my kids get an extra 50 tickets each by hitting the 100 slot on the ball drop machine! It was a fun time for the entire family, and the shakes and ice creams are on point!
Great food, service and atmosphere. A great place to go!
1 star only because I have been going to the Ole Town Shop since I was a kid. Now, as a mother there under new management hiring teens, only to start them at $6.00 an hour for a month of training. What is that?? Really?? Not even minimum wage by La. Law and no tips allowed for your 1st month. The Better Business Bureau will be notified.
Great little shop! Love the atmosphere and the staff was very nice!
Train your young workers to put canister of ice cream in the display freezer and scoop it out rather than holding it on counter, arms wrapped around it, with face close to ice cream, breathing on it while scooping 🤮 when the canister of same flavor is empty in feeezer.
Im a tourist and this place was very nice workers are friendly and the place was super clean. The ice cream was amazing.
Our family loves this place. Its very family friendly. We love all of the homemade icecream. My grand kids love the Old Town Soda Shop!!!
I love the old town soda shop, its always great the people always have a great attitude. They serve all kinds icecream and some bottled drinks Ive never even heard of.
Ice cream was good, arcade with modern games is fun, ambiance delightful, and they had good service and candies to boot. They even have old timey toys to purchase. Their outside area with a lovely covered/shaded space and a Tardis-looking library (itll make sense if you see it) was all delightful.
The Best Place for a fun filled birthday party. Hostesses were awesome, engaging, creative and amazing.
Charming atmosphere and good ice cream.
It was great to be in a old fashion ice cream parlor in a very long time and the ice cream was great too loved it
Really great ice cream. Wonderful customer service. The kids really enjoyed this place.
An Olde Towne Slidell icon, handmade ice cream and great friendly staff.
Its still the same as when it first opened years ago in 1960s but the 1960s replica opened in 1988 and closed in August of 2005. It reopened later on but Im not sure when. Its open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. Enjoy homemade ice cream and old fashioned soda just as original as if it were 1960 again.
My family loves the Old Town Soda Shop. We go there every time we come to Slidell.
Great place to get a nice dessert. There snacks are awesome. In my opinion from first walking in, reminds me of a recreation of the mid 50s ice cream parlor. You wont be disappointed.
Kids love the video games and ice cream. All the employees are friendly . We love this place.
Great ice cream, shakes and malts. Fun atmosphere for kids and adults!!
Quaint old fashion ice cream shop, with a small arcade. Brings back so many good memories.
Nice little arcade. Tasty ice cream and desserts. Good simple food.
Owners are friendly ice cream is fresh
Nice place to bring the kids for a treat.
Great staff and atmosphere. The selection of ice cream is always changing, and never disappoints
Staff is very nice, great place to stop it.
Found myself an ICE CREAM PARLOR!!! The ice cream was like that fresh cranked homemade. I did Take-Out. I shall be dining in soon.
Awesome place, very friendly!!
NEW ICE CREAM TOMORROW, FRIDAY, APRIL 2ND.
Cutest place ever, very clean, great ice cream flavors.
Loved so amazing
It is a real time machine, you are transported to the 1950s vintage tunes on the juke box, arcade machines for the kids, a great treat.
My kids love to have the delicious homemade ice cream, then play songs on the table jukebox, then spend allowance money at the arcade.
Great place to go, feel like you are back in the fifties. Great ice cream
Awesome! Great ice cream and loved the yester-year feel of this place.
This is like stepping back in time with the best creamy homemade ice cream. I love the jukeboxes and the wall of ice cream scoops. Its so charming. Their banana splits are amazing.
Best old fashioned icecream place
The dip cone I ordered didn’t live up to my expectations for a dip cone, but the cone and ice cream were delicious.
Goid ice cream and service. A little pricey.
Ice ccream was too soft for a cone, used a cup not much help...bathroom door would not close or lock..new owners will give another chance in time
Not bad. Great for kids.
Very cute soda shop in the middle of the old town part of Slidell, there is no dedicated parking lot. There are a few steps to get up to go into the shop, and I am not sure if there is any handicapped access.Walk to the counter to order, and there is just so many things to choose from. Service is very friendly. Everything was clean and there were all sorts of ice cream scoops on the wall as decorations. Inside looked to be an equal mix of the old and the new. The food was good. I look forward to bringing guests here in the future.
Love Love Love the Soda Shop! Best place in Old Town!
Love, love, love this place! Its kinda like stepping back in time when you step inside. The food as well as the ice cream is delicious! The staff is always friendly and its just a great vibe all round. We love the little jukeboxes on the tables and the small arcade. Definitely a place we will revisit many times!
$10 chicken strips and a coke that were spongy and had the thickness of my finger. Burgers weren’t much better. As far as I’ve heard, everything aside from the grilled chicken sandwich and the ice cream is not worth the money. You’re better off eating lunch elsewhere and going here for dessert. As someone who grew up eating here as a treat for good behavior, the quality has really gone downhill. The atmosphere is still retro, classic Olde Town, but the quality certainly is not.
The food here and the beverages ordered were very good and promptly served. The pricing was competitive and about right for what you get. My sister who was with me during this meal ordered a Sundae and it looked very good and had ample amounts of ice cream and toppings. She and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Absolutely fantastic. Great ambiance. Fun games for the kids [and the grownups too, to be honest]. Tons and tons of ice cream flavors, all of the traditional fun ice cream novelties from shakes and malts to huge banana splits. The service is always great here, everyone is friendly. Its a great place for parents and young kids. The decor is traditional ice cream parlor with loads of interesting art, antiques, interesting pieces and just about every kind of ice cream scoop ever made. Its great to support a local business and visit here, but beyond that, it stands up to and exceeds any chain you would care to. They have a good choice of diner food, homestyle and filling. The ice cream is the real deal and comes in a plethora of flavors. This shop makes visiting a local business a pleasure. Its easy to support a place that provides such a unique experience and great food. Its not just the best place to grab an ice cream in Slidell, its a destination in itself and you wont soon forget it.
This place is fabulous and represents what the old town feeling of Slidell is like. It is a popular hang out for kids and adults alike. I would highly suggest it for anyone who is just passing through and wants to get a feel of what this city is really like. Its usually pretty clean and has a good staff. I would give them stars if i could
Great place. Good food and great ice cream... just like the soda shops of a by gone era
I love this place. It is one of the last places a dear friend of mine was with my family before she passed unexpectedly. The service was excellent and we had a great time.
Love the nostalgia of this place. Definitely best tasting ice cream around. And the muffuletta was best Ive ever had. They bake their own bread. They are pricey but sure its not cheap to be top quality
The ice cream is good, fairly small selection, but enough to satisfy kids. The kids that work here are friendly and wear their old time uniform like champs, all the old scoops and ice cream churns make you feel like your back in the 50s.I had a double scoop on this visit.....Baileys on bottom and Creole Cream Cheese on top.
Cute little place.
Always always always go here when in town. Unique flavors, all made in house, unique shop. Worthwhile the visit
A favorite for my family. The ice cream is the best Ive ever had! The food is not great, but not horrible either. We love going there just to hang out in the fun game room and great outdoor area. The free library phone booth for both kids and adults is one of the most charming features in Olde town.
