Good folks to work with, and better quality lumber then HD, but half the time I have to resort to HD because of their bulk pricing. Dont mind paying a little more with Spenard but its usually substantially more. Shop here as much as possible.

This was the best lumber yard experience Ive ever had. The man helping me was friendly, accepted my dad jokes, offered me poly to cover my load so it wouldnt get wet, and helped me strap down my load. I was able to back into the building so I could load out of the rain. Ive never been able to do that at Home Depot.The quality difference between sanded plywood cannot be understated. I got sheets of 23/32 from both stores, and Spenards was a far superior product.

Had what we needed and the staff knew where things were and were polite and helpful.

Waited on hold for a very long time and when I got to talk to someone the lady was nude and informed me the it doesn’t matter if you have an account with them or not they don’t do discounts like they used to. Oh well I guess we will go to the cheaper box store

Spenards (SBS by the locals) is an Alaskan building supply company. They have multiple locations across Alaska and two right off KBeach road only a few miles apart. They carry most everything a contractor would need. They are friendly and usually know how to help you on the project youre working on. Their main work appears to be with contractors. Their prices are a little higher than the large construction corporations such as Home Depot but it is much quicker/easier to find help and the advice is often accurate.

Joan is extremely knowledgeable on all things cabinets and shower surrounds!
