I just want to say that ever since GCI went to Yukon TV, the service has gone down so much, I dont know that I want it now.First time I called about setting up the TV service, I was in queue for over an hour, then closing time came and I got dumped out of the queue.Call yesterday and the first person I get, suddenly cant hear me and was disconnected.Second time I call, the gentleman was very nice, but in order to set the TV up, I was on the phone over two hours. At the end of the call I was told that the TV service would be up in about 15 minutes. Never happened.Today I call yet again to find out why my TV service isnt on yet. That was at 9:55 this morning. Put myself in the call back queue with a supposedly 30min wait time and even now, at 2:39pm, I STILL havent gotten a call back.I call back again again...TWO hours ago with a 40 minute queue time...I stayed on the line this time. Was able to talk to someone in Customer Service who then transferred me to Technical Support. I was on the phone over another TWO hours. He was going to send me back to customer service and I told him I was just sent from them to technical support. He stayed on the line with me and did as much as he could to get me back to customer service. I let the guy know that its no fault of his, but I want to speak to a supervisor. He finally got someone, but I was told I would be called back in ANOTHER 15 MINUTES!Now were at 20 minutes and still no call from the supervisor and still no call back from the original call I made this morning...5 HOURS AGO now.Come on GCI, get it together or go back to cable service because this is beyond ridiculous. After the guy helped me yesterday, I gave him a glowing review because he helped so much. I also said I would recommend GCI to others. Dont think Ill be doing that now.Maybe its time to switch to ACS.

Always helpful but the service is usually slow meaning that you usually have to wait on them. They are not very quick. Plan on a minimum of atleast 30 to 45 minutes even for the simplest thing.

Only comolaint is this is the only store in the area, mraning that it can get busy. Make sure to get there with plenty of time before your next engagement. The employees are great and very willing to do what they can.

Thank you to all of the clerks at GCI. Especially to Lori who has been helping my 89 year old mom get her IPhone. Mom is losing her eyesight and Lori has gone beyond her duties to get the phone so Mom can use it. This GCI store has the best service of any place Ive been. Thank you Lori for your patience and knowledge and explaining things for us to understand.

I had an appointment for a service tech come out to set up internet between 8am and Noon. It’s now 1:30pm and no one has called or showed up. I’ve now been on hold for over an hour and bounced to three different people who tell me “that’s not my department, let me transfer you.” Well, whose department is it? No one seems to know. After getting someone, they tell me my appointment is the following day. I let them know my confirmation says today and I took today off to make this happen. Got put on hold again then was immediately disconnected. That should tell you all you need to know.

The only reason there is even 1star is because I could not get in to write without placing a star. GCI has to be the WORST company I have ever dealt with. They turned off a phone that, by their admittance, was not over due. Then said “so sad to bad” but we can’t get back on your old plan and now you’ll have to pay almost 4 times what you were paying. But stay tuned there is a next installment.

They do their job but there are some issues with the store such as getting a new phone and it needs 5 hours of updates That you can only download with Wi-Fi Creating a 1/2 full in where I lived there is no Wi-Fi or in the immediate area need to tether the phone to use the laptop You think when you buy a new phone that all the updates would be pre installed ahead a time

GCI has lots of hidden fees and their prices are deceiving and constantly changing. Their employees never looked enthused when they saw me. Cricket down the road has way more affordable prices and their customers greet you with an actual smile. Only go here if its a last resort.

The staff here are always friendly and helpful. Wait times can vary I’ve never had a problem with waiting a few minutes for service. To me GCI is my go to provider since ACS is no longer offering cell phone service. The price is right, I get cell service coverage that works and doesn’t drop. GCI for the win for me. I’ve had cable with them before and that was good compared to what I’ve seen others complain about other companies.

Very helpful. My wife and I both changed cell phone service to GCI and got new phones. Friendly knowledgeable staff walked us through the GCI system to make sure we could get the best use of our new Samsung phones. We highly recommend the Soldotna Alaska store.

Went to store and bought a mifi and signed up on the unlimited $70 plan for internet only and was told that it was unlimited data! Was told the only time they would slow the plan was if there was a lot of congestion from people in the area. Not even 15 days into the plan I got an email saying I was at my limit and the plan was slowed down. I called customer service and they told me that they decided to change the plans and if I wanted it that was the deal. What a ripoff not to mention misleading as hell! Avoid this company if you can. I should file a false advertising claim!!

Took a long time to get help, even with just a few customers in store. I was lied to about products and my account setup seemed rushed and like a burden to the rep I worked with. He gave me no useful information whatsoever when I signed up for his business. Left having to call the online support for help. My business with them didnt last very long.

They have a monopoly on cable/internet in the Kenai/Soldotna area so the prices are ridiculous AND theres data limits. In the states the internet is 3-5 times faster, unlimited data, and half the price. I realize we live in Alaska and things are more expensive here but come on. Its like HEA, who else are you gonna go to? They have a monopoly, pure and simple, and theyll milk you for as much money as they can.

No lines at the time I arrived. The staff are behind computers and desks creating somewhat of a separation between customer and employee. Super friendly once conversation was started. There was a breakdown in communication between the Anchorage call line and the local Soldotna store. The call line said they had no Internet deals to offer at the time but the local store said they did (a free iTunes card or a Red Internet special). GCIs Internet speeds are way faster than their competitor ACS and they cover more individual household areas (geographically). They have a data limit that ACS does not and will restrain your Internet speed once the limit is reached. They seem to not run on the same philosophy as ACS, treating all customer areas alike whereas ACS may not provide Internet to a household address, but if the household is a business (paying more per month) they will cover that address. Tip: Can your household be registered as a business thru the borough? Its an extra $50 a year but could increase your internet capability in Alaska thru ACS. Try NAICS code 814110 Personal Household.
