The menu accommodates all taste palettes and has a variety of different style pancakes, French Toast and Eggs Benedict selections which I loved. I ordered two breakfasts for the perfect 1st time experience here of salty and sweet with the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict and the Monkey Bread French Toast... amazing!!!! Our server Rachel was great and attentive. We were seated pretty quickly. On street parking is available. If youre staying locally close in town its convenient to walk to and is around other restaurants and shopping stores. Would definitely come back.
Get their pineapple fritters and the homemade cinnamon raisin bread! It is delicious. dont shy away from the more creative menu items either. I tried the rocky neck omelette (linguica and orange marmalade) while everyone in my party balked at it. I was pleasantly surprised!
Banana flavored coffee. Need to say any more? Great food and service. A restaurant worth going out of your way for.
Excellent customer service! My husband and I found this place while taking a trip to Gloucester, and even though it is a little far from our house, we keep coming back because of the delicious food and great customer service. We also love how the menu is constantly changing with the seasons. Most recently, we had the salmon benedict and autumn harvest quesadilla. The Benedict had generous portions of salmon, perfectly poached eggs and delicious hollandaise sauce, and had a spicy buffalo type sauce for the tater tots. The autumn harvest quesadilla was stuffed with squash and was accompanied by a tasty homemade salsa. The quesadillas are one of the things that are always changing. I look forward to going back and seeing what is next.
The menu was fantastic. Our food was exceptional. The staff was friendly and attentive even though the place was jammed. One of the best breakfast spots weve ever been.
Stopped here after a whale watching cruise for lunch. Came because their lunch menu features fun seafood items while accommodating to people who don’t like seafood. For being a fishing town you would think they would highlight this menu for tourist especially on the busy weekends. But our biggest disappointment was finding out they only serve breakfast/brunch on the weekends after they had sit us down. Don’t get me wrong the breakfast looks amazing, but I don’t think of having traditional breakfast plates that I can get in any town while visiting a quaint coastal fishing town for lunch or dinner.Their brunch menu just adds a couple lunch(ish) items which feature only 2 seafood items. We didn’t see anyone order the seafood, which makes you think that they just have them on there because they are leftover stock from the weeks inventory.Probably won’t be here again unless I go on another whale watching cruise or charter a fishing boat, but I would try their breakfast I ever come back during the morning hours.
So glad they survived the worst of the pandemic, but Im also not surprised. Everything is good, service is above average when its busy and crazy fast during those rare times theyre not busy. This is our go to brunch place in Gloucester
This place is a gem! We were on the North shore for memorial weekend and were lucky to find this place. It was packed when we arrived but it was worth the wait. Staff were excellent from start to finish. The food is sooooooo delicious! We ordered crab cakes, eggs, pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, ham etc. every flipping thing taste fresh, flavorful and delicious ! Kudos to the chef and the lovely women staff! Yall rock
Truly one of the worst customer service experiences and lattes I have ever had. This place wouldn’t survive in Salem, MA. Menu outside was not completely accurate which made ordering a bit of a challenge. I politely asked the older woman who served us if we could have our money back for the Coffee and Latte we bought. She said, “I mean what’s wrong with it, its a coffee and a latte”. It tasted watered down and wasn’t worth $4 each. Aside from that, terrible service. They gave cash back when we used a debit card and also tried keeping the tip. I then went inside and asked to have the tip removed. Customer service was horrible. I asked for plain yogurt and granola and received both in a 4 ounce cup because usually people have equal amounts of yogurt and granola. Omelette was flavorless. The grilled blueberry muffin was good though. Won’t recommend this place and will never come back.
Amazing food. Favorite place in Gloucester. Although I am more than disappointed that the time they are closed is not updated. I’ve mentioned it multiple times. They are closed Sunday Monday and Tuesday. Even tho the website says otherwise. When I showed up to order there were multiple people outside confused because the website says otherwise. Call before you make the trip.
Best breakfast I think Ive ever had. Would definitely go back again and again
Love their menus and prices, I had their hash and it was awesome
Best breakfast ever after being to 25 countries. Lobster Benedict.
Amazing and friendly staff, great food too. The carrot cake pancakes were so unexpectedly good!
Try the salmon club you will not be disappointed
Sugar mags always has excellent service, creative flavors, and worth it portions.
Food was DELICIOUS! The help was somewhat disorganized...but friendly.
Good food. Wish there was outdoor dining available currently.
Excellent food! Seated quickly.
Good food.. Great service.
Website and google pages both stated that they were open except for Sundays and Mondays, but when I arrived on a Tuesday they were closed. Please update your websites to keep them accurate, why bother having a website that is not even accurate?
This place is closed, trash everywhere, tipped over chairs in their tents and no sign on what happened.
Worth the wait
I called to place an order on Sunday. I was very hungry. It said they were open on Sunday. The answering machine clearly states they are closed on Sunday. Update your Google please.
Great breakfast & great waitstaff!!
We like a lot hanging out. Yesterday we visited this fine place which friends recommended to us. We had a lovely evening there with very good dishes and a courteous team and a great cuisine. We put this place in our list and we shall definitely go again very soon. Highly recommended.
Very comfy place. We were there for lunch. I had the lobster BLT special, it was amazing. Huge portion of lobster. Bread was toasted and buttered perfectly. Just the way it should have been done. Fries were well done, like I requested. My mom had the crab cake toastie, which a grilled wrap. Also very good. We will definitely return on our next visit to Gloucester.
We started out a little sad that we were too late for breakfast but we were mistaken to be disappointed in any way! The lobster roll (actually a brioche bun) was by far the BEST I have ever had! And huge!!! My friend got the lobster taco and it was even better!! Fabulous atmosphere, wonderful service, and amazing food! Our server Amy was great too! Dont miss this little gem!
I highly recommend you try whatever is on their special / temporary menu. They have fresh in-season ingredients and experimented until they found something absolutely delicious. If you want to have a lovely experience I highly recommend trying what a chef has put together as a special
Sadly, it was closed. 😞 Opens next Thursday 4/15/21
This place was amazing. Crowded but I squeezed in at the counter. Ordered the fresh fruit cup that not only had at least 6 different kinds of fruit in it but was also arranged like a little work of art. Had a tasty egg/arugula/fig breakfast sandwich on really good gluten free bread along with some incredible potatoes. Seriously good stuff.
Best breakfast place
Great place for breakfast Sunday morning. Add your name to the list of people waiting, had to wait an hour. Had the hash and eggs which I enjoyed. I would have liked more meat in the hash and the eggs were very small, I suspect they were from a battery fed chicken. So while I enjoyed the hash, it could have been better.
Delicious food! I had a crab cake wrap, which I wasnt sure would be good, but it was amazing! Also a good atmosphere to bring a small kid. She enjoyed the food, too.
M the first moment you step in that restaurant team give you a comfortable feeling. Very friendly crew, it is a good restaurant to enjoy with friends and colleagues or with your date. heavenly meals, professional chef, competitive price and nice service. Highly
This place was packed! Loved the free coffee they offered for waiting patrons and the staff was very kind. Breakfast was good and priced well.
Delicious salads and fish and chips and corn chowder. Swift no nonsense service from a staff of skilled coworkers. And extremely reasonable prices in a pleasant casual atmosphere.
Sugar Mags makes the best breakfast food Ive ever had! Everything is absolutely delicious! The presentation is lovely and the taste is sublime. I recommend the Crazy Monkey French Toast. The staff is also very attentive and friendly. Dont miss this local gem!!!
DOWNTOWN GLOUCESTERSugar Mags is a place where one could get breakfast or lunch.Food quality is OK. The prices are are good as compared to comparable restaurants in the area. DOES NOT HAVE PARKING so you have to hope there is a vacant metered parking space on the street. Otherwise you may be in for a small hike. The atmosphere of the restaurant is bit stale. Seating and tables are average. Table service is above average.
Service great and the food even better. The breakfast selection is large and will take me a bit to try everything that sounds good. As most places in the area, plenty to fill you up😊
Delicious Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla! Cool atmosphere and great service and staff. Highly recommend!
This spot always delivers. They serve fantastic dishes for convenient rates, there no long wait even when the spot is packed.
Love this place. Their smoked pork shoulder hash is fantastic, and their coffees are great. My wife and I shared a short-stack of banana bread pudding French toast (a special). I belive we told Lilly, our awesome server, that it was life changing. Even the crabcakes were good (and thats saying a lot as a Marylander). Get in early on weekends to avoid the crowd
Best breakfast place I know! I especially recommend their French toast which is madefrom Portuguese sweet bread.
We love this place, the wait can be long but it is completely worth it. The food is delicious and well priced. Weve been coming for the last 4 years during GP Gloucester and its the only place well breakfast. The staff is always so cheerful, attentive and helpful.
Corn chowder with salmon; it’s all I want. It’s amazing. Sincerely, amazing. Everything is truly fresh and homemade. I dream of the chowder with salmon when it’s been too long between visits. The service is great. The menu is varied and fun. I’m mapping out a trip as I type.
Nice place. Came in Sunday morning. It was very busy. We wait about 15 minutes. I had main west omelet and its great! Will come again.
We love this place for its delicious breakfasts and airy, bustling atmosphere. The only downside is that there always seem to be long waits every weekend. Maybe try going on the weekdays if you can. The Irish benny with eggs and hollandaise on top of cornbread is sooo good. Waitresses are efficient and nice. Great spot on Main St in Gloucester. You can go check out the fantastic shoe store right across the st if there is a wait for a table.
Tremendous breakfast. Had the Special --stuffed french toast with marshmellow sauce, chocolate chunks and fresh strawberries. Simply amazing -- rich, decadent and reasonable. My wife had her own make your own omelette with caramelized onions, mushrooms, spinach and goat cheese. It came with lovely home fries and homemade raisin toast. Great service and a wonderful experience.
Very long wait but much deserved. Waitresses are busy but they still take the time to make sure everything is ok. Awesome restaurant!
Always delicous: lemon ricotta pancakes, homemade hash, avocado toast ... Too many amazing foods to mention
My wife and I frequently go for breakfast. Never had a bad meal here. Delicious food, as far as were concerned its pretty much the only place to go for breakfast in Gloucester.
BEST breakfast in Gloucester. Not your average eggs and bacon! Fun and new combinations. Great waitstaff too!
Food was Awesome, service was Not, server was not friendly and was short when asked for cream for our coffee. Also waited to bring basic things we asked for our breakfast.Would have gave 5 stars if she was a good server, we wont be back because of her attitude.
Awesome breakfast. Cool atmosphere. Usually crowded with a tiny wait. Good homemade muffins! Eclectic local dishes!
Sugar Magnolias does breakfast best! They have a large variety of unique options. I especially love their carrot cake pancakes with cream cheese.I went there during lunch hours and was disappointed in the options and lack of unique choices compared to their breakfast menu. If Sugar Mags served breakfast all day I would definitely go there more.
This place is amazing! The food is delicious and the service is great! Breakfast ends at 11 during weekdays and all day during the weekend. My husband had a cheeseburger and it was soooo good! We loved Gloucester and loved Sugar Magnolias
I can’t complain about this establishment, the food is Delicious. Perfect for lunch or breakfast. You can’t go wrong with the Buffalo crispy wrap.
Yummy, yummmmmmmy, yum. Is the best and only way to describe Sugar Magnolias. First timer definitely will not be the last. Service, food, FIRST notch operation. Thanks ladies you all are the best.
We were given a free muffin because waitress thought we were waiting to long for breakfast to arrive. Food was good waitresses were friendly. Portions were on large side. Left pretty full and didnt need to eat rest of day..
I had fried fish and my girlfriend got a salmon sandwich. They both were delicious, especially the salmon sandwich. I will go there again for sure.
Very good food for a very good price. We were travelling around cape ann and its the best place to stop on the way. The salmon club is amazing !
Such a great spot for breakfast with a menu ranging from traditional fare to more modern flavor options. Great food all around (Irish Benedict was a favorite) and friendly staff!
My boyfriend and I had breakfast here & the breakfast was great, if I visit again I will definitely get my breakfast from here again .
Very inventive menu. Excellent breakfast and great service. Get here before 9 to avoid a line, especially in the summer
Sugar Mags is in my opinion the best breakfast spot on the North Shore. The food is always delicious, the portions are generous and the prices are appropriate. If you go on a Saturday morning, you will without doubt be waiting for at least 10 minutes because this place is just that good! I highly recommend the hash and eggs as well as the carrot cake pancake, my go-to breakfast choices. The lunch menu is also stellar! You cant go wrong with this place. The staff are wonderful and I promise you will be going back many many times.
Have always loved this place. Tough getting in usually but not today. Great breakfast and great service. Worth any wait.
Came here for breakfast around a little before noon and was told they were only serving lunch. Was a little disappointed however we looked over their lunch menu and there was quite a good variety. I settled for the dijon chicken salad wrap, it came out as regular chicken salad but since it took a while to get to me I didnt not mention it. After a few bites, it was so good I realized it didnt matter. There was a lot of flavor in the sandwich and was nicely touched with the grapes inside. I will definitely be back.
Always have brunch here when visiting the area. Never have had a disappointing meal. The wait to be seated is worth it! Crazy Monkey French toast is a personal favorite. Lots of non-egg options (I dont like eggs).
Ive been here for breakfast or brunch MANY times over the past 10 years or so and they have been consistently great at providing quick food and service even though its always been a very popular spot. I typically judge a breakfast spot on the quality of the Benedict and this spot always has 4 great choices AND usually a few tempting specials! The menu in general is very creative and has all kinds of crave-worthy choices for adults and kids too. Its pretty much the best way to start a day of tourism in Gloucester, and the locals love it too.
My wife and I were shopping at the terrific shoe store across the street and they recommended Sugar Magnolia for a bite to eat. We were pleasantly surprised with the delicious offerings. We tried the fritters and blueberry pancakes. Both were great treats. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming and the wait staff were very friendly. It is a special place in the heart of Gloucester. Besides feeding yourself, be sure to feed your parking meter. The $15 ticket was not a pleasant surprise.
Love the food, the service, and the personalities. Never fails to satisfy!
Best brunch in Gloucester such a friendly staff love going here
Unreal brunch, youll cry over the blueberry pancakes and omelettes. Beyond excellent!
For breakfast, the porridge is the greatest. Comes with green apples. raisins, and shredded coconut. For lunch, the caribe an jerk corn chowder with a grilled salmon floater is the best. Nice homy place. Good for families.
Whole family loved it!
I was in Gloucester Massachusetts for a business trip and I got a chance to go into town at lunch time and we really liked having lunch at Sugar Magnolias. The selection was great and the sandwiches even tasted even better!
Excellent place for breakfast or lunch - never leave here hungry!!
Homemade cornbeef hash that make you want to smack your mama. No joke breakfast!Everything was completely on point.
Food was delicious! I especially loved the hash. I would definitely recommend & plan on going again.
A great selection of good food. Small restaurant but worth a visit.
Super tasty with many great options
Large, tasty breakfasts are reasonably priced. Friendly staff, and quick service. Can get crowded on Sundays.
Big portions of really great breakfast. Lobster omelette? Irish Benedict? So good!!
Lobster omelette and linguica was amazing! Highly recommend this place. They have a nice menu as well.
Always delish! Worth the wait on the weekends
