Friendly service but the coffee (cortado) was not good at all. The roast is way too dark the coffee tastes burned.

The place was very nice and clean. Good variety of coffee and breakfast items. We ordered, an apple cinnamon and blueberry muffin. They were yummy and coffee was really good fresh taste. Very impressed with their coffee!

Great coffee and breakfast goodies!We are here on vacation and have swung into most of the local coffee shops, this was a wonderful experience. The coffees we ordered were really tasty and breakfast taco with the fresh habanero salsa was awesome! I definitely recommend stopping in and supporting a local business, you won’t be disappointed!

Found this little gem while passing through Tahoe and all I can say is WOW!!! The best coffee Ive ever had and to be able to watch the owner roast the beans through the viewing window was priceless!! Great service and dont forget to look at all the beautiful art for sale on the walls by local artists. I would make the 3 hour drive again to have a cup of this gold!

One of the best coffees Ive Ever had. The coarse tinch in their special roasted beans would stay with you long after youve finished your coffee that youd not want to have any other coffee. Mind blowing stuff.

Good coffee with variety of beans and flavored syrups. Their hot chocolate is perfect for cold winter too, which is very fitting for this ski resort town. They also have delicious-looking baked goods but I didn’t try it.As this is 2020, I want to add that they are following great social distancing guidelines. You can order and pay online. Very safe to pickup your morning coffee from.

Great small town specialty coffee place. All their coffee is fair trade which is cool. They had so many non-dairy options, even macadamia milk! It was delicious. I recommend it. Check them out!

Late review from 2/28/21. Came to SLT for a little weekend getaway from The Bay and saw others had given this coffee shop good reviews but our experience was the opposite. Wife and I ordered pour overs which ended up being quite literally the WORST cup of coffee Ive ever had. The grind and/or temp of the water mustve been off cause it was terribly bitter-- took 3 or 4 sips and tossed it in the trash. It probably also didnt help that the Chick who was working was unsuccessfully trying to multitask and help another couple with their drinks at the expense of our drinks. Final note: Booooooo *thumbs down*

Absolutely love their coffee and the experience they provide! The coffee speaks for itself and you can tell they care about their craft! The owners are so friendly and knowledgable about the art of roasting. Its so lovely to see a proper roastery in town and the espresso keeps me stopping in every day on my commute. Best Ive had! Best coffee in south lake, hands DOWN. the beans are roasted in-house and everything is super fresh, not to mention fair-trade. justin is awesome and clearly very passionate about the work he does. if you’re looking to support a local java joint, this is the spot!

The Internet promised us the best coffee in Lake Tahoe, and Bare Roots delivered. We had spent all morning trying to find anything better than the weak instant coffee in our AirBnb before stumbling across them on Google.-Covid safe: Customers + staff are required to wear masks. Everything felt very safe and clean, and there was hand sanitizer readily available.-Incredibly friendly service: The husband-wife duo who served us were so kind, chatting with us & even sharing some great leaf-peeping spots around the lake.-Delicious coffee: There was something there for everyone. Apparently they roast the beans there on site (so cool). A range of milk alternatives are available for anyone who’s dairy-free.-Parking: There is a parking lot on site, and it was very easy to locate.

Went in for the first time today and met the owner, Justin. Friendly customer service & amazing pour over w/ a variety of options. The front is converted to extra seating w/ tables & chairs to enjoy your coffee outdoors.

When you walk in the shop you are warmly greeted by the workers and owners. Unlike other coffee shops they use organic ingredients in their specialty drinks and coffee, which are amazing! Overall a great place!

Walked in after a coffeeshop up the street served a man without a mask, only to see the barista and a customer not wearing masks indoors. I left and the customer followed after me stating that the barista was putting his mask on and they didnt have masks on because they were friends, and I could go back in now. when I stated I wouldnt due to covid concerns, he became rude. you need to follow cdc guidelines in order to serve customers.

A nice little coffee shop. You may have to wait a little while at the busy times as its run by only one person, but having interesting conversations with the owner and the customers makes it feel like a warm place to stay and hangout for a bit anyway.
