Ordered the smoked salmon and shrimp Benedict as well as chocolate banana waffle. The service was very good as she accommodated me to pay early and order over half an hour before I wanted the food so it came out the perfect time. (My friend came late). The potatoes were a bit bland and too soft in my opinion and the benefit could have had the egg less cooked so the yolk could have blended better with the dish. I was a little disappointed from the Benedict’s however the dessert waffle definitely helped make up for it. The waffle was crispy and the chocolate and ice cream was so flavorful. Overall I would give this place another try and try some other menu items. Super convenient as this place was walking distance from where I was staying.

Food is on point. Best Shrimp & Grits in Essex County. Service is lacking. Ive been there several times and the only waitress there currently either hates her job or doesnt like my face. Ive seen her greet other customers warmly but she consistently frowns & barks at me and slams my food/ take out bag on the table. I make it a point to tip fairly, and am never rude but she seems to be annoyed if Im dining in and ask for anything but the check. Im hoping there is no bias involved. Will give her the benefit of the doubt. Once again, food is excellent.

The first time we went here the food was amazing and we were so excited to go back and then the second time was absolutely horrible. Granted they were much busier the second time we went but still every single we ordered was really bad all the way down to our eggs not only being completely burnt but they smelled rancid. My waffle was not cooked in the middle and it was just terrible overall. Theyre a little pricey but the first time I went I felt it was well worth the price but after the second time around I would never go back again. Maybe it was a different cook I dont know but I gave them 3 stars only bc the first time was so good but would have gave them no stars based off the second time

Really enjoyed my breakfast here. Tried the bacon brie omelet and it was very tasty. Didnt like the potatoes that much as I like a little more crunch on em. But let me tell you about that waffle! I usually dont like waffles because they have that hard shell. This waffle here was soft and buttery perfection 👌🏽 Ill visit again whenever Im in the mood for waffles.

The service was horrible and the food was horrible. We walked in and the waitress barley acknowledged us. Throughout the entire meal she never came and we had to teach her down if we needed anything. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it might be the worst I’ve ever had. My girlfriend ordered a bacon egg and cheese and the egg and cheese tasted like it was pre packaged. Absolute worst meal I’ve ever had. Will never be going back again.

Wonderful breakfast, brunch, AND lunch place! Menu is huge with so many options, including gluten free waffles for about $2 more! They have specialty coffees like lattes and chais, but the food itself was great! All waffle dishes come with a side of either potatoes, grits, mixed greens, or fruit! Grits option gives you an ENTIRE bowl of grits and the potatoes were amazing! Definitely coming back here with family members and friends who enjoy some gourmet waffles and pancakes!

My daughter and I ordered breakfast online and chose the pick up option for Mothers Day. The online form is easy to use and I like the fact you can still pay cash for pick up. We knew it would be busy since it was Mothers Day. We were greeted upon arrival and told to wait in the waiting area. The woman who was serving people eating on-site was very pleasant, as were the other employees. Our food was very good, but I give them 4 stars instead of 5 because my daughters coffee wasnt prepared as ordered and we had to wait a bit longer for our food (we had an 8:56 pick up time but got our food around 9:20). The employees who were handling the to go orders could have been more proactive and called out names as orders became available. Id definitely go back. Its close to where my daughter lives and they have an extensive menu with creative options.

Guess everyone has a bad day. I drove 20 min because I heard food was great. I arrive and waited 25 min for their shrimp n grits when I got it looked like a bowl of soup oil and cheese barely any grits but the shrimp had nice taste. Maybe next time Ill just stick to my original plan waffles!

Have been wanting to come here for a while.Im a big fan of brunch, as well as waffles and pancakes, and this is a breakfast/brunch location.Since we arrived about 1pm on a Saturday, there was already a list of people also looking for some grub. We noticed that there was a self serve list that you can out your name down on and the number in your party. We were informed that it would be about a 20-25 min wait.They do have a couch and some chairs to wait your turn, and the waitress acknowledged our presence. We didnt end up waiting the full 20 minutes, maybe 10 before they set up another table (pulled from the back room?) And we got to sit down.Their menu is extensive. Anything that you can think to do with waffles or pancakes is probably listed on it. We ended up getting the eggs Benedict and the Croak Madam. Both of those dishes were made with brioche waffles and both came with side orders which were plentiful!!Staff were super nice and attentive.Cant wait to go back and try the sweeter side of the menu

The experience was lackluster. I ordered the plain waffle and it was soggy and undercooked. It wasn’t even hot. It was lukewarm at best. It tasted like the frozen waffle you just pop in the toaster. I ordered a side of bacon which was the only thing I enjoyed. I ordered a hot chocolate that wasn’t very hot and needed more sugar.The server was rude and her energy was very abrasive. When my friend and I first arrived, no one even greeted us. The tables were all full and when we asked the cashier to provide us a table for 2 she told us the server would be with us momentarily. The server continued to service the tables around us and never acknowledged us. I finally got her attention and asked if we could be seated and her response was “I don’t have any open tables right now” - she said it with a dismissive attitude. We continued to wait for a table and were finally seated.She had an attitude with us the entire duration of our stay. Even as we ordered and received or food, we thanked her every time she brought something to the table and she didn’t even say you’re welcome. I saw her treating the other tables around us with more dignity. Even new guests who walked in were greeted politely, although we were not. I understand she was busy but her behavior was uncalled for. I probably won’t ever eat there again. The food isn’t worth the attitude the server comes with.

Somebody in the kitchen knows what they are doin! I could seek that someone out in time and work to craft my meal, even close to the end of their day. Real crab without too much filler, creamy and flavorful sauce, and hash browns that are JUST crispy enough but not burned was just what Id want everyday, but will always put me to sleep.Service was quick and attentive, stopping by the table 3-4 times to check in on me. Not too pushy and responsive when I needed something, the staff were professional and engaged.With clear separators, I felt Covid safe and masks were everywhere. Ill be back to try more items on the menu eat a time I can eat, enjoy, and take a nap

The Liege and the Brussel waffles are good. The crepes are not good. Mine was bland and undercooked. Asked for another one. It was pretty much the same. Very different from those we have in France and Belgium. I highly recommend the waffles or the eggs.

I frequent this establishment because the food is good with reasonable pricing. But there is this one female server who just can’t get it right. We sat outside but had to go back in to get our own menus after reviewing the menus for about 15 minutes she still never came out to greet us offer us water or bring utensils. I had to go back in and ask the cook how to place my order due to server was no where to be seen. Her performance is always unprofessional, very nonchalant and uncaring, but she seems to be the only server they have there and she will be the reason I ultimately stop patronizing this establishment.

I ordered shrimp and grits.The grits are made with 3 cheeses which causes ALOT of oil. And i believe the lady told be the grits are pre preped.The oil messes up the original grits texture.I wasnt even able to eat half.So due to that I rate the shrimp n grits a 2.They do give plenty of grits and the shrimp(4) is big n juicy n taste good.

Super overpriced. Why am I paying $7.20 for one waffle with some strawberries. Two cut up strawberries are not worth $1.25, 50 cents at the most. Also why are all the toppings the same price are pecans worth $1.25 makes no sense.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. It wasnt a terrible wait and the hostess was very mannerly. I ordered a hot chocolate and a savory stuffed waffle. Im usually someone who puts additional sugar in any drink but this hot chocolate was so delicious that it would have been a waste to put sugar in. The waffle was literally stuffed and had good flavor. I was very happy with the food and service. I highly recommend!

I was a little apprehensive to go here for a networking breakfast yesterday after I read all the Yelp and Google reviews about the slow service. Well, yesterday, it was perfect. I got there (Monday @ 9am) and it was bare. Within 25 minutes there were about a dozen people there, though.I appreciated the waitress who was super patient with my ordering as I asked to switch to soy milk twice, questioned the whole wheat waffles, ordered extra food-to-go for my hubby, asked about ingredients and for extra fruit. Whew!She did it all with a smile. The latte was excellent, the smoothie delicious and the waffle soft and perfect. My husband loved the shrimp with cheese grits and the waffle biscuit with gravy. He had one for breakfast and the other for dinner.To top all of this off, everything came within 10 minutes each time. Maybe it was the perfect time to go, I dont know, but I will definitely make this a family outing for sure. The kids are going to love it.

I ordered chicken and waffles to go and enjoy a Saturday breakfast in the comfort of my home. Not only did I find hair on my food but the food tasted terrible! The chicken was pretty much a low quality chicken nugget which tasted like they had been fried in old oil. And let’s not even describe the waffle. First time trying this place and I will never go back again. Don’t spend your money here!!!

The food here is great, but the service is absolutely horrendous. The staff is super rude and unwelcoming. Upon entering the restaurant, there is no one greeting customers or giving clear directions on the “sign-in” process. During my visit today, the sign-in sheet was so confusing, that I witnessed multiple customers walk out due to not understanding it. After realizing the wait, was longer than expected I even attempted to make a “to-go” order. This took another 10 minutes of waiting at the counter before being acknowledged by a rude waitress who expressed that the kitchen is backed up and the order wouldn’t be ready for an additional 40mins! As I stated previously, the food is great but this establishment will lose a lot of customers if the service remains this way. I definitely won’t be returning!

This restaurant is without a doubt the best waffles you can get probably anywhere. I had a yogurt and fresh fruit Belgium waffle with a strawberry chocolate liege waffle as well. 100% delicious absolutely savored every bite of it because its worth it. Its a great environment to go with someone or just to enjoy a delecious breakfast on your own, and they have a kick butt waitstaff, friendly and nice as soon as you step in 10/10 would do again

Pretty solid place, the food was good and the prices pretty fair. Only downside was that any group bigger than 5 they dont split checks, which was hard with a group of college kids. Overall, definitely gonna go back.

My favorite cafe in New Jersey! The best waffles and the best English breakfast tea in New Jersey! They also play very nice music. This the first place that I ever heard the song Fireflies. The lovely sidewalk plants and gas lamp right outside makes me feel peaceful!

Great place to pick up some amazing waffles. Its worth the wait, theyre fresh & delicious. You can add fruit, chocolate, or nuts to be mixed in the dough. No syrup needed. Great on the go as well. Of course, their coffee and other foods are worth trying if youre not into waffles.

Poor dining experience, found stainless steel wire from scrubber in potatoes. menu has way too much on it.If you’re coming here, just order the regular Belgian waffle- nothing fancy. Great little waffle shop where I go to work sometimes remotely. The food is good as I like the waffles and the eggs are pretty good too. They have a large selection of muffins and some nice cakes too. Seating areas are nice and clean and the outdoor setting is always fun to watch the morning folks going by you as you enjoy your meal.

I had a horrible experience at this place. My husband and I went there today and were treated very poorly by a female waiter. We sat on a table in the back, the waiter asks us if she can start us with drinks? I asked what do they have that is good? she throws the menu at me and says the drinks are all in the back of the menu on the right corner. I believe that was rude. However, I let it go. When she comes with the drinks she throws the straws on the table, and rudely asks do you want to order or do you need more time? My husband asked for a manager, there was not manager available and the person that came and talk to us, was unwilling to take responsibility for the restaurants poor treatment. We offered to pay for the drinks already on the table refused to eat there and left.1. The Restaurant business have such an income elasticity demand, during hard times or recessions usually people wont go to a restaurant and eat. There is also a price elasticity, and substitutions etc.2. There is a restaurant in every corner. What makes your restaurant so extraordinary?3. Restaurants are a “good business.” Just not for the inexperienced.It is so important for business owners to train their employees and create a business culture that respects customers and that treats them well because word of mouth is very powerful. Training employees by telling them that the success of the business depends a lot of how they treat the customers, the people that grace them to even go and support you. Overall, would I recommend this place to anyone I know? No! Restaurants are a “good business.” Just not for the inexperienced. Train your employees better, service your customers with a grateful heart and respect them.

Hello today I was there at grill iron for the first time. So I made 3 orders of food. 2 of my breakfast meals was comprised buy 1st my daughters meal had cat hair or dog hair in her meal. The 2nd plate had some pieces of hard black plastic in it. I spoke to the manager about it he was nice and redid both of there meals. The cook also apologize to. To the owner of grid iron in like the place. But if the employees that work there has animals in there home when they come to work please make sure they do not have any type of animal hairs on there person that can get into the food off there bodies or clothing so this will not happen again in the future. And why the employees does not where beard nets on there face for facial hairs and hair nets. The waiter today did not have on any hair net or a hat being around the food.Thank you

My wife and I went to have breakfast on the is cold Sunday. When we got in we had asked to sit out of the way of the door because of the draft. We were seated in the middle of the floor a few steps from the door. There was another table that was about to be ready and we had asked if we could have that table and the waitress with a unpleasant attitude told us she was going to sit someone else there that came in after us. We did feel welcomed so we kindly got up and left. I will never go back again.Thanks for responding but actually the two gentlemen that your waitress was referring to walked in at least 5 minutes behind us.

Reasonably good service and prices for what you get. The food is delicious and there are many options to choose from. The inside of the restaraunt is starting to show its age a bit but still offers a dimly lit homey feel. This is one of the best places in South Orange for breakfast food.

Very good food here. Surprisingly diverse menu. Parking can be hard to find, during peak hours and Ive seen the wait time reach 1hour. Just be specific how you like your eggs and you should have a great time.

I like this place it’s quaint this is my second time here the food is good the place is clean with a relaxing atmosphere....It deserves 5 stars but the female waitress needs some training....she’s not attentive, not very friendly, we sat for 20 mins before our order was taken we didn’t have proper eating utensils, no napkins upon requesting for additional napkins she seemed a little bothered by it and still didn’t bring enough napkins she was short with me and my daughter and not very welcoming I was reserved In asking her for anything else so we ate got the check and left.

Great good but terrible service most of the servers are great, however one of the waitresses is very rude she forgot part of out order so we can informed her and I was going to order a chia tea latte as well but she walked away to quick she was very short with us though it was not busy and didnt ask if we needed a split check or if we wanted the check when she handed it down, she was clearly just trying to get us out and lied saying their system doesnt do even check splits which it does bc I worked in a restaurant with that same system and always did even split check and the way she split the checks was uneven anyway. All and all I love this place I just really dont like that server my friend wanted to leave a top even tho we had horrible service and I gave it to her after paying the bill and said this is for you referencing the change she had handed me, she just gave me a look and carried on clean no smile thank you or anything.

We came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We were happy to see that there were several 2-person tables available. Even still we had to sign in to wait to be seated. There were a couple larger groups ahead of us that they seated first. There was a 4-person group that came in after us that they pushed tables together to seat. There didnt seem up be a dedicated host. All three people on the floor seemed to be helping tables, seating people, and running back into the kitchen. At least one group that came in after us left. After almost 15 minutes I was about to say something when we were finally seated.A few minutes later our waitress, who was very nice, as was everybody else we interacted with, came and took our order for coffee and food. It took a little over 10 minutes for us to get our coffee and then we needed to ask for milk and spoons to stir it, which took several more minutes. My wifes food came out after a bit of a long wait, but my food wasnt ready yet. After watching our waitress (who had said she was new) take orders at 4 tables without checking on my food or turning those orders in, my wife said something to someone else, asking for my food and also syrup and hot sauce. My food came right after that but it took talking to 3 different people to get syrup and hot sauce to the table.The saving grace for this place is that when we finally got our food, it was really good. My wife got the Frying Pan Fry Up. I got Waffle Biscuits and Gravy which is a take on sausage gravy. The food was awesome. Mine was something I had never had before and it was good. On top of this the prices were really good.Overall Id recommend trying this place out, just know that it might take longer than you would expect. They also offer takeout so that may be a good option to just get the food, though, how well it would travel I cant say.
