I brought in a 2018 Jeep Compass that was having power and module issues along with a battery that kept dying. They did what they could and go it back up and running so I could get it to Jeep who then got the parts needed and warranty repairs done. If I have any other issues with my vehicles I will bring it here if its not under warranty. They didnt lie about what was wrong and did what they could to help. Would recommend all day everyday. They were very professional made me feel at ease I brought my car in for a check engine light had a couple of issues with it they took care of it in about a day. Owner jay is not a man of his word he told me he would pay for the tow truck coming back and he didn’t Want to work on my Roush mustang Because I was bringing in my own parts and he couldn’t make $20 profit on the mark up so he left my car out in the middle of the intersection and just Just his hands he left my collectible cars in the middle of the street dirty shame I mean who would do that these days we’re going through a pandemic his friend was also admiring my motor in the middle of the street and that got me upset

The folks at Jays are friendly, professional and very proficient. They took in my vehicle on a Friday afternoon. It needed fuel injectors, plugs, and a coil cap. Best Automotive repair business I have been at in 40yrs, every single technician there was great, I was stranded from out of the area, they diagnosed what the problem was, even I with a mechanical background didnt know what was wrong, and they got me back on the road in a reasonable time and cost. Would drive two hours to have them fix anything I have.

Sorry guys, I definitely wouldnt go back here. My husband went here for a muffler exhaust install quote, the guy quoted me a horribly high unreasonable price. He acted like he really didnt care if I selected them and the place was a ghost town. I will never go back. The guy down the street was cheaper and did a great job! Im not sure why we even stopped in- should have known when they didnt answer the phone.

I TOLD THESE GUYS WHAT I WAS GOING THRU AND THAT I HAD ALREADY TAKEN A $5000 LOSS. I JUST NEEDED THEM TO FIX MY CAR. IM HOMELESS AND I HAVE STRUGGLED AND TAKEN LOSSES MY ENTIRE LIFE. I TRUSTED THEM TO HELP ME AND THOUGHT THEY WERE GENUINELY GOOD GUYS!!! $1700 LATER AND NOT EVEN A WEEK FROM THE TIME I GOT MY VEHICLE FROM THE SHOP AND MY CAR IS STILL BROKEN!!!! FOR $1700 THEY SUPPOSEDLY CHANGED MY TRANSMISSION FLUID AND OIL. WHICH I HAVE NO STICKER WITH MILEAGE ON MY WINDSHIELD. THEY SUPPOSEDLY RAN DIAGNOSTIC ON MY ENTIRE CAR!!! MY CAR IS WORSE NOW THAN IT WAS PRIOR TO TAKING IT TO THEM. THEY CHARGED ME $1700 TO CHANGE MY ROTORS AND BREAKS AND FLUIDS!!!!! I DONT ADVISE ANY WOMEN TO GO THERE IF YOUR NOT WITH A MAN. Great group of guys. Marco worked on my Mercedes and did a great job. I liked his attitude because he wants to be the best, and that is what I strive for to.I am extremely picky about my car ( of course) so I read reviews, talked to the owner Jay who is very nice as well. I‘m glad that I feel like I can trust or reason with them. Now a days most service businesses ( auto repair, doctors, veterinarians, oil changing places, dentist, chiropractors etc have lost sight of caring about the people. Instead sometimes I feel it’s all about separating you from you wallet. It’s pretty unfortunate. So I wanted to leave this review for those people who feel the same as me. This was the worst mechanic experience i have ever had. when i came in i presented them with the engine service codes and they refused to look at them and said, dont worry well diagnose it. not once did they mention that there was any kind of cost involved. not one word about it. they tried to charge me over $1000 to replace a $100 fuel pump. when i refused to let them absolutely rob me, they charged me $120 for diagnostic before they would give me the car back. just to top off the experience, sheradan downs the service writer pretty much acted like he wanted to fight me or something the whole time. it was weird and i wouldnt wish this experience on even my enemies.

Holy cow. I was looking for a reliable, straight forward mechanic and thats exactly what I found at Jays. I needed an engine replacement, which very much so stressed me out and they made it such an easy experience. Marco was extremely efficient and timely with getting the work done and very professional with his work. The two gentlemen up front (I want to say Kevin and Bill?) were always keeping me updated and very friendly. Jay even emailed me about working on getting it done.All around great experience and I wouldnt go anywhere else. These guys have my business

There were some positive moments with my experience here, mainly the manager Bill, hes fantastic. I know they tried to help but overall Im dissatisfied with my experience. I dont want to post too long a review so Ill give just this example. While my car was there I had to purchase 2 new tires. The employee who was my main contact told me the tire size to get, I texted him that the tire stores were insisting my car took a different size, and I had seen at least one of the tires on the car was that size. He insisted all four were another size. So I spent twice as much money to get that size because I figured the mechanic would know best. Upon picking up the car the owner tells me, you know you got tires that are too big for the car so one of them rubs on the wheel housing and makes a sounds but dont worry about it. ?!@%$! I came to find the employee who insisted on the tire size is neither licensed nor certified. $253 for two new tires and the car makes an absolutely horrendous sound when I turn left. Furthermore, the car is RWD and I bought 2 brand new tires of the same size, yet they sent me home with one new tire on each axle, and the rear axle had the two differently sized tires. The owner told me I could come back and theyd switch two tires to stop the sound, but when I went in I felt that he was short with me and definitely felt an unfriendly vibe from everyone except Bill, who again was genuinely pleasant to work with. I usually go to Ricks total car care but was impatient and decided to try this place instead. 🤦‍♀️🤷 Obviously I cant say whether Ricks wouldve done a better job in this case but Ive always been happy with them before.

I really had a great experience with these people. I had an older vehicle with a few issues and they took the time to explain my options and stop the endless fix it that come with older vehicles. I like my truck and feel comfortable taking it in for work that needs done. Thanks to you all.

Very fast service

The front end of my truck needed to be rebuilt. Every shop I called quoted me over a week to get it done. I called Jay’s Total Car Care and talked to Sheradan, they had me in and out overnight and were absolutely wonderful to me. I’ve already referred at least two other people and highly recommend this shop.

They were professional and helped save me money. I will be going back for more repairs.

I had issues with my clutch not long after buying my car, these guys had the part and the work done in less than two days and I was back driving. Now my car drives really smooth and it was hard to shift before, would definitely recommend their business

I had to make a return trip and they finaly found the poblem they took care of me right away fast and friendly, I highly recommend jays.

I took my vehicle here for an inspection and after seeking a second opinion from a NAPA Certified mechanic I came to the conclusion that James, or “Jefe” as he was called by other employees, not only lied to my face but blew everything out of proportion in order to get money from me. He said that I would need over six thousand dollars worth of repairs on my vehicle. He said my vehicle was unsafe and I’d better ware my seat belt. He promised a free diagnostic inspection, but insisted on charging me fifty dollars afterwards.I wouldn’t recommend this repair shop because of the possibility of being lied to and over charged for unnecessary work. I didn’t receive any actual work so I cannot review the quality of work that they provide. They may provide high quality results, but if it’s way over priced... what’s the point if you can get the same results somewhere else?

They did a great job installing a set of chains on my work vehicle to get me home safe. They made sure I knew how to safely drive with chains on and were also very knowledgeable to answer all questions I had!

My car was in this shop for about 5 weeks. After 4 weeks in the shop they make me pay another deductible (2 deductible payments total) saying my battery is no good. When i drove it to the shop it was working jus fine. Then they added 3 more parts to my car and statement. They claimed they gave my car a wash because it was in their shop for so long but when i picked it up it was dirtier than when i dropped it off. Not happy with how i was treated as a customer

When more than 6,000 miles from home and in need of a truck mechanic, reviews were what we used to find Jays Total Car Care and were glad we read them. We had a complicated, potentially very dangerous issue with our front and rear differentials in our Dodge 2500 Ram. Pinion and carrier bearings needed to be replaced. James and his crew (Bill, Paul, and Kevin) were courteous and professional in diagnosing and completing the repairs properly and to our satisfaction and relief. We have no doubt they would be our go to shop if the need arose again. Great guys, great shop, and great customer service.

Jays Total Auto Care booked me in I had sort of an emergency situation with a front axle and they got me in and repaired it their price was very good they were very professional and the service was a very high quality I would use them again.

DO NOT USE Jays Total Car Care! I found them through Google and figured Id give them a chance. Boy, was that an expensive mistake.I agreed to have some service performed, but after I called around and received quotes from three other shops at 50-70% less than Jays, I decided to go elsewhere. When I called Jays to cancel, they had already ordered the parts, which isnt a big deal, so I said I would pay for the parts they ordered and that I would skip the service. The owner refused to cancel the appointment (it was a week away), and he was excessively forceful that because I agreed to have the service done, I had to pay for the parts and labor even though no labor had been done.Because I was being forced to pay for a service that hadnt been done yet, I went ahead and had them install the parts, but that is the last time I will ever come here. They obviously spent an incredible amount to have a bunch of tech in the shop, driving up their prices, and Ive never seen them busy... which is probably the largest indicator that you should go somewhere else.

Let me start off by saying they are very nice guys, however when given a quote for a $100 diagnostic, I came back and the total had jumped to $250 because they went ahead and did work on the car without calling me for my approval. Due to the total jumping to over double what I was quoted I simply recommend more contact with customers before working on their cars.

This is THE shop to bring your rig in Reno/Sparks. We stopped in after finishing the Rubicon Trail and needed them to look at a scraping sound coming from the front end. Jay saw us within a couple hours of calling- diagnosed what was going on and got us back on the road! I highly recommend these guys!

Our car broke down on a weekend driving through Reno. While I was trying to figure out what was wrong with the car, James, one of the mechanics, was helping a customer nearby and came over to see if I needed help. He did a quick once over and found the problem to our transmission. Great experience!

Car broke down in Truckee on Super Bowl Sunday of all times. While nobody else was available, Jay was willing and ready to assist us. He was not only very knowledgeable with our engine problems, which unfortunately needed a major engine overhaul, but was willing to get us to the nearest car rental dealer so we could get back home. He went above and beyond in my book, and we are grateful for his service and kindness. Would highly recommend Jay’s service.

Friendly people. My family and I had to have our vehicle serviced on a trip across the country after breaking down. They were very informative and got the work done as soon as possible so we could be on our way.

Stay away. The guy lied to me and over charged me big time without getting my aporoval, classic shady mechanic practice. Ill never go there again and we dont recommend him. Check out his facebook reviews, we will filing a complaint with BBB. What a shame.

My fiancé took her 1989 Cadillac Deville for a free assessment in which she was charged $52.89. She was told that her car was in great shape and she shouldn’t get rid of it she should fix it and have these untrustworthy mechanics do the work. They told her they could fix her air conditioner for $50 and then came back in and told her it was $350 after they had already done it. They also told her that her compressor with last at least 1 to 2 more years. She was not able to drive her vehicle off of their property before the AC completely failed. Also she was told that she needed to fix her transmission that day or it could ruin her vehicle. Supposedly they changed the gasket and fixed the leak. They charged her $24.54 per quart of transmission fluid and said it was 8 quarts. She could not even drive the car home after paying. The next day I went down there with her and she drove it home with a failed AC compressor and the transmission leak is 10 times worse than it ever was previously. I was furious and called J at Jay’s modified motors and Jay’s total car care where they were happy to inform me that Tanya was screwed and her AC failure is on her not on the work they did or what they told her. Also he said that the transmission was not leaking and that he did not do a flush he just change the gasket. I was quite upset and he told me that he would pay for the towing and take a second look at the transmission . The car was towed there where I am guaranteeing that they did not look at it. They told Tanya there was no leak and that she wasfull of •••• .Upon her arrival home not even within five minutes I had massive puddles of transmission fluid on the cardboard underneath the car. These mechanics are liars they charge you for things that they don’t do and I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. We are going to pursue a civil action against them as well as contracting the Better Business Bureau I have several pictures to prove my statements but am unable to post them on this reviewThis company is so shady that they just threatened us with court because we posted honest reviews

They put tire cables on my car 11/30/19. They came off just a couple hundred yards after getting back onto the freeway. After leaving a review on Square, they left an email for me to call them. After calling and telling them what happened and how some Caltrans guys came by to see what happened. Caltrans stood there and watched while I figured out how to put the cables back on. They said I could not move my car until the cables were back on, and if I didnt hurry they would have my car towed. Jays only offered to install chains next time for free! Really!? They couldnt do it right the first time! Why would I let them do it a second time. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! I would not recommend their service! Stay far away from them!!

EDIT: Now these guys are liars too because I DID NOT sign ANYTHING but the receipt AFTER you forced me to pay you. I invite you, Jays Modified Motors, to post a photo of this supposed signed invoice.These guys completely lack communication with their customers as well as with each other. I had my car towed to them per recommendation of the tow truck driver (who told me not to listen to any mechanic that said I would need a new engine) and Rick called me a few hours later asking for authorization to open up my vehicle for $200 because they suspected a problem with the engine. I immediately told them not to work on my car because I wanted to call someone first and I would get back to them. I knew that if there was anything wrong with the engine, I would not be able to afford it and I wasnt sure I wanted to pay $200 for them to tell me I couldnt fix my car. Well, they went ahead and worked on my car anyway. After disputing with James about whether or not I did give authorization, he told me he would have to pull phone records and we would speak the next day. I walked into the shop the next day and Rick told me phone records were actually not accessible at all and that I had to pay the $200 or they would keep my car. I am not happy with these guys at all and I regret listening to the tow guy who recommended them.

Jay knows what he is doing, and can admit when he isnt familiar with a particular system, and didnt try to take advantage of the fact that I didnt know much about my particular hybrid either. Great service, glad to use his services again.

It was after hours and knowing my need to return to California early morning, Dakota worked on my car through the midnight hours allowing me to leave Reno at 2:30am for which I am truly grateful.
