They cleaned my 390 up, got me sorted out with a polish, hone, head job w/new pos stop seals, and paint touch up as well as rings and bearings. (Im doing the assembly myself)Good reasonable prices and they worked with me on a timetable. Kind of wish I wasnt moving because I like this shop. Would pay the extra shipping in future to have them do any future work.Keep in mind covid and parts shortages have delayed many industries. They worked with me and gave me a reasonable timetable and then still got ahead of schedule. Be patient, communicate, and understand everyone wants an engine built right now with a national parts shortage.10/10 would recommend.

One year ago we took our boat to get the motor rebuilt from the block up. This was when Dennis was the owner though, a good man. They felt so confident about the rebuild they warrantied the work for two years. Not even a year later, the motor has sixteen yes, sixteen hours and a piston ring went. I called these guys up and they blew me off entirely. Told them about the warranty even and they chose not to help whatsoever. Instead they quoted me $1600 just to re-ring the motor. Mind you this is after $5000 has been put into the rebuild already. Long story short, do not waste your time here. At one point they were a wonderful shop. Unfortunately due to their new ownership they have PROVEN themselves to be a shady mechanic shop. Do no deal with them. I dont enjoy writing poor reviews, however, being a local I think its important to steer people in the correct, honest direction to good quality work. Unfortunately, its not at this shop.In response to your reply. Your guy who built the motor, Jeff. Still is known to work at your shop. Dennis himself did not build it. YOUR current mechanic did. Also, you tried to give me his number which has no voicemail whatsoever to it. For all I know youre giving out a false phone number. As for working with me on this you flat out said what youve already wrote down. You have a new name but same staff. It is up to you as a business owner to attempt to make right of this situation. Seems to me you want to wipe your hands clean of a warranty.

Excellent experience. Helped me identify everything I needed and I look foward to dropping my toyota motor off for the bore hone and deck.

Dennis and crew and American Engine are incredible. Seriously.I took my first engine project to them and they helped me work through what needed to be done. Assisted in ordering parts and got my block, crank, rods and pistons all ready to go. Dennis was always willing to answer my questions and offered a great deal of helpful information and guidance. Not to mention, they have the most competitive prices in town and access to any part for your engine build.I will definitely go back to American Engine & Machine.Thanks a ton for all your help.

You will not find a machine shop that is so dedicated to quality work as American Engine and Machine. Dennis is top notch. I have used this machine shop for 15 years and wouldnt consider having anyone else touch my customers engines!!!!!

Usually a great place to go. Only 4 stars because they sold me a funky crankshaft that wasnt machined to the right specs.

Good people cheap prices

I payed 1800 dollars for a 22r long block rebuild that was 4 weeks late and was only to the timing chain. So no water pump no oil pump no rear main nothing. They provideded me with the water pump and oil pump but they were sitting in the bottom of a box with all the old bults and no new ones... On top of that the head gasket blew at around 500 miles without over heating even the slittest bit until there was no fluid in my radiator because the head wasnt even torqued which they didnt cover all the sudden. While I should have double checked if the head was torqued because of what condition the engine came in I didnt. The engine should have came back to me damn near complete ready to drop in for 1800 dollars, but instead it took a whole day to find all brand new bolts that would fit everything that wasnt completed. I would not recommend this shop to anyone at all.

One thing I dare anyone go down, call all shops and see which person who answers will be nice for a change and give a damn! Dennis did on the phone and in person! Rebuilt my 350 to 315 HP. PRICE WAS DIRT CHEAP AND STILL RUNS TWO YEARS LATER,! Thanks again!

Great fast service

Called to get a few quotes made to get my engine fixed. Got them talking on the phone until he found out what engine it was and told me my engine is a garbage engine and made sounds at me so I couldnt talk over him on the phone and hung up on me. Rudest customer service Ive EVER HEARD. Im shocked anyone even talks to customers like that

Ive had this shop do all kinds of different engines for me. Dennis is the best choice. I recently gave Cylinder Head Service on Francis a try, the owner mike was kinda rude with me. I did not appreciate that, so im going to continue to bring my parts and engines to Dennis. As i write this, i have four head gasket repairs going, and dennis will get the heads to them all because other guys in town are either crooked or unpleasant. Dennis is honest, fair, experienced and freindly.
