Amazing bookstore!! The owner is one of a kind. π
This is a beautiful community space and provides a much-needed service in Springfield, lifting up minority voices via literature. The owners have been personable, helpful, and accommodating. If youre ordering a book, this is a wonderful locally-owned business to support.
They have a large selection and knowledgeable staff. I always have a great experience there.
Inquired about ordering books to be shipped to me (due to stay-at-home guidelines), and Zee (the owner) was fantastic! Quick response, she made ordering super easy, and everything reached me very timely. Thank you!! Hope to visit the storefront when we can!
Great place to learn and discuss the pertinent and pressing issues of the day. Good pricing, great atmosphere
Beautiful local bookstore - a warm, vibrant, inviting space with a great book selection and prices. The owner, Zee Johnson, is welcoming and was very helpful in placing a bulk order for a book club Im in. Many thanks and looking forward to future events at the shop!
Book signing and spoken word today.. Rosa M. Bailey wrote and publish a wonderful book. She is inspiring. It was a wonderful event.Olive Tree Book and Voices is a wonderful place to share your talent. Ms. Zee Johnson owner of the book store will give you all the support you need to have a book signing at this location. Please visit. Books and other items are available to purchase. Open on Saturday and Sundays.
Excellent bookstore, has such a variety of books and if u dont find what youre looking for it can be ordered. Good selection of greeting cards as well. I recently purchased a book for my niece to read to her son. Nice place to sit and have a cup of coffee, tea or water. The childrens room is a comfy room to sit and read with your child. Its a nice gathering place. Its a nice place to bring a small class for a field trip. My daughter brought her class once. Zee also has authors to come read from their work and do book signing. Nice place!!!
I, for one, love the classics and enjoy collecting antique books and quite enjoyed myself here. Many of their older books (away from the windows) have aged very well. I purchased two of Hemingways novels, another smaller antique book, and a fictional hardback from the 70s, with a very period cover. We spent the better part of an hour in there, enjoying the opportunity to browse!Check out is toward the front, where a husband and wife team sit and chat, read, or browse the web. Being in business for 34 years (!), you know they really have a true love for literature and I really hope they have no intention of closing down. Their prices are pretty affordable: the four books (2 classics, 1 antique, and 1 retro) came to about $14. And, as a note, they do accept debit cards for purchases over $10. A sign spattered about the store claims that most books are 50% off, unless written otherwise inside the cover.
I love love love the location & the genre selection, plus the energy a book contains is AVAILABLE from an atmosphere that is serene & clean. There are dollar books which are great. The walk through alone FAB, then the pleasant staff promotes good reading habits & community literacy event participation. When you love books 24 hours isnt enough so its best to put the hours in your schedule.
This spot is a place you have to visit to truly appreciate. Owner, Zee Johnson, welcomes you in and it is home. I LOVE her! You will find all kinds of treasures of African American history, philosophy, literature, etc, in addition to irresistible knick knacks, all reasonably priced. And if you cant find something, Zee will order it. Olive Tree is an outstanding business that keeps us going with pride and love. I hope it remains an institution in our community for many years to come.
