This book store is a treasure trove. So many books. Reasonably priced too. So fun; I could have easily spent a long time here! As I got there 30 mins before closing, I had to make my selections fairly quickly and I settled on these 4 books.

A bibliophile’s dream come true. I could smell this book store before I saw it. Nothing beats the smell of old books. Make sure you have plenty of time to look at everything because there is just so much to look at.

Great atmosphere with an immense amount of used books to choose from. Got a great James Patterson book that was one of my dads favorites, and excited for the read. Went in to buy and the owners were super friendly and let me have the book since I didn’t have a quarter on me for the purchase. Highly recommend!

Always fun to go into this bookstore and browse around. I can always find sonething good to read.

My favorite bookstore. Whenever I make the trip to Springfield, I check it out. Everything is broken down into sections, so if there is something specific you are looking for, you can find where to go. But there is just enough clutter to have the feeling of exploring an old attic and discovering something. You can also find a collection of old and rare books and manuscripts here. Always fun to check out.

Springfield is the only city in America that has 3 bookstores within a mile of town center. I am pretty sure Prairie Archives is our premier bookstore. It is wondrous!

Great selection of books here. This is a dusty treasure trove you can easily spend a couple of hours browsing. Beyond the wonderful books there, I collect old comic books and vinyl records and the store has a selection of both. This is another one of my regular stops in Springfield when I’m treasure hunting. Check it out.

Absolutely fantastic little find! Found the first issue of Sandman for 3 bucks. You could easily spend hours in here.

Great place for old books to buy for for research

What a great place! Used and new books, some quite old, many interesting! Got to meet author Jan Jacobi out front who was selling his fantastic book Young Lincoln, a great read for all ages. My daughter and I should set a time limit for any future visits just so that we dont buy half the store! Interesting vintage art here as well.

The store was amazing. They have a large and well organized collection of comic books that our kids could have spent hours going through.The owner was exceptionally polite and willing to answer all our questions.The best part is the smell of paper books. You walk in and the smell reminded me of some the great libraries around the world.

One of my favorite bookstores. Bought two foreign cookbooks, and the hubbs found several comic books for $1 each. Find something every time Im here. The cute doggie walking freely around the store was fun too-will need to remember to bring treats next time!

Family owned bookstore that you could explore for hours and never get bored with the amount of books you can find! I make frequent visits and find something new to read every single time!

A great place to browse for all kinds of American history . They have a great selection of Lincoln and Civil War stuff they also have a great assortment of books upstairs but you have to get special permission to go see those.

This is one of the countrys great bookstores. Selection in all subject area is excellent. Store leans mostly to hard-bound books, but everything is priced to sell. I always find what I am looking for a prices well below E-Bay or Amazon. You could easily spend half a day in here and not see everything. It is located on the same block as Lincolns law office and across the street from the old Illinois capitol, so you can combine a little historical sight seeing at the same time.

If you have never been there you have to go! Yeah it is a book store but WHAT A BOOKSTORE.....and while you are there check out the Springfield themed shirts. I got my son one for Christmas that has a picture of Abe on the front that reads, Youd have to shot me to get me back to Springfield! I love it. Everything a used bookstore should be. My 9 and 10 year old sons and I loved the place. We are so glad we stopped in.

Great place for the lovers of really old books. Next time I am coming with my list of pulp magazines I want to buy and spend a lot more time here. Note: There is a strong mildew smell in the place, but this was expected. Still if your allergies are as bad as mine you might want to take some extra meds with you. But please dont let this stop you.

Great classic used bookstore. Closed by 5pm unfortunately so only daytime shopping possible. Wide ranging collection for sale.

This place is a treasure trove, though I could not find the ones I wanted(my fault as I only searched for an hour) I went home with 2 other ones that could keep me occupied for the time being. The man at the counter was very helpful and kind enough to search titles for me and even more kind and patient when I changed my mind about the book that he found for me. One might need atleast half a day to peruse all the aisles:)

Great used book store! The even have an entire section dedicated to signed copies.

During my morning walk, while traveling through, I stepped by their book table. Found a couple of interesting books and paid through the mailbox. Looked like a nice store from the outside.

Lol i love that the piano is the default picture of this place, that was always the first thing i ran to as a kid. Since then ive developed a little more respect for this place, it may be a little unorganized but sometimes thats the point, youll find gems that no one else wouldve appreciated. The prices are great too!

Especially they have lots of books about civil war.It is a pity not to come to this bookstore in Springfield. There are many good books and the price is cheap. It is worthwhile to look at the door or spend time in the store. It is a mecca for antique book lovers and American Civil War researchers. .
