I really didn’t want to leave a bad rating because their kolaches and doughnuts really are very good, but they have a problem with inventory. I’ve visited 4 times in the last ~6 weeks, and 3 of those times they were either completely out of or nearly out of (read: 1 left) of my desired item (meaning I couldn’t order for my family and had to pick an alternative).To management: If you notice you’re running out of something by 8 a.m., make more of it. You know what’s popular, so meet the demand so customers don’t have to leave disappointed.

Really yummy 😋. You can tell the food is made fresh. The kolaches are sooo good! The croissant sandwiches are also tasty. I have tried just about everything and I am always pleased and so is my tummy!💕

They are so friendly and attentive . My kids and I have been going to this establishment since we have lived in the area for over 11 years. My kids love the breakfast burritos. They prefer those burritos over any place else..except for home of course 😉

Ive been going here about once a week for the past two years. I generally pick up a dozen donuts on the way into the office or a couple kolaches and breakfast sandwiches on the weekend. Never had an issue. They always remember me and have something nice to say. Everyone here is very polite and the food is good.

Service with a smile. And reasonably priced. I do here for breakfast on my way to work fairly often, and Im never disappointed

We got beef kolaches. There was a lot more bread than meat... like a lot! Taste was okay but the ratios were way off.

Amazing! The kolaches are huge and so good!! The French crullers are so soft in the inside and crunchy on the out! Delicious!!! Top that off with great friendly service!! And great prices! So glad we came upon this little donut shop while passing through! Just sad we aren’t local!! Will stop again if we are ever in the area!

I love this place! If I lived closer I would probably grab one of their delicious breakfast sandwiches every day. The staff are friendly and service is quick. Their cinnamon rolls are awesome as well. Last but not least I love their variety of donuts! Old fashioned, cake, and of course your everyday glazed or filled. 5 stars for Southern Maid! Shipley donuts has nothing on you!

I started out going here on the way to work in 2010. I moved to DC. and always stop in when Im in town.Great breakfast croissants, love the owners. Always pleasant and happy to see them.

Solid coffee and donuts place. Kolaches and breakfast sandwiches are available; service is fast. Only downside is not many places to sit.

The owners are delightful, and remember every visit. The kolaches are SO incredibly good... the best part is the BREAD on the sausage and cheese kolaches. My kids will sometimes just eat that, and pick out the meat. My only sadness about this place is that when it is a holiday they tend to be closed. I get having a day off... It is just when I am home with the kids, and want to grab something quick and undeniably delicious for breakfast on a holiday... I want to eat here. And I cant. Love the food. Thanks guys!

Its okay.. Came in here to get me some donuts and a breakfast kolache. I wasnt sure if i wanted coffee.. So instead i went next door to the convenience store to get it. Well lady at the donut got upset why I didnt get coffee there. And i told cause it cheaper at the store.. She made a grunt and got upset. Never the less not the way to treat your customers..

What can I say about this place. Well I have been eating here forever and they been getting better every year.There are 4 things to try.First are the glazed doughnuts or holes.Second sausage and cheese beef or pork.Third are their croissant breakfast sandwiches 🥓 is my choice.Fourth but not least the blueberry cake donut.If I could spell the sound Homer Simpson makes when he thinks about donuts. Thats what happens to me when I eat one those delicious blueberry cake doughnuts everytime.I could never say anything bad about this Donut Shop. It my Cheers place. Where I know the owner and he knows me...Would I recommend you coming here everytime, everyday, yes everyday! Tell the owner Tim sent you. lol

Never thought my Cheers-place would be at a donut shop... but here we are.Ive been coming to THIS Southern Maid since I was in middle school. I took a break from them for a long time after high school and they still remembered me years later. My nostalgic donut spot also happens to have the best damn Croissant-Kolaches in town.This Southern Maid is a little Asian-run joint thats had the same few people working the front since theyve opened. To get a fresh croissant-kolache you have to show up early, but man are they worth it. As my co-worker so gracefully put it, That is one FLAKY @SS PASTRY! The ham and cheese croissant-kolache is indeed flaky, full of meat and cheese, buttery and delicious. I asked why they only produce them early in the morning and the owner said they take 3 HOURS to cook... I guess you cant rush perfection. I have to have one at least once a week.You dont like ham and cheese you say? They also make a great sausage and cheese one. Sometimes I get both when I cant decide on just one. Ive always liked their donut holes, but the donuts here are a little crispier on the outside than at Shipleys. I opt for cinammon sugar donuts instead of glazed... theyre like soft, puffy cinammon sugar dough clouds. Eating just one is nearly impossible.I often call ahead to have my order put to the side because food runs out quickly (especially the croissant-kolaches).Making your way in the world today takes everything youve gotTaking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lotWouldnt you like to get away?Then get away to the Kirkwood Southern Maid Donuts. The next thing you know youll have made new friends with the kind owners, and youll be nice and round (like a donut) from eating the amazing croissant kolaches.
