I can’t thank Preston and the staff at Sweet Things Bakery enough!!!!!! A week before my wedding 10/9/21 the original baker who was booked 8 months before my wedding disappeared!!!! I called Sweet Things Bakery in hopes to get a wedding cake made with such short notice. I spoke with a young lady at the bakery whom i expressed my issue with and she took my info down and advised that the owner would contact me at his earliest convenience! To my surprise Preston called and advised that he would be able to make my wedding cake!!! I sent Preston a picture and he nailed my wedding cake. My wedding cake was beyond delicious!!! All of our guest keeps raving about it. Preston and staff were very professional!!! We are forever grateful for this bakery!!!

Absolutely such a horrible place. Had to call TWICE for my childs bday cake, then told they bake the cake 3 days in advance (not fresh then????) And at these prices!? So not fresh, but hey lets go in. And 2 ROACHES crawling on their glass encasement. Nope. Please chose other places. Health inspectors called. -Nicole.

I ordered a cake for my sons birthday two weeks in advance, I had to wait for a price quote which was not a big deal, when I got the quote via text I responded that sounded great. Went to pick up my sons cake am hour before his party and was told they didnt make the cake because I never paid a deposit. There was no mention of a deposit when I placed the order or when I received the price. I was told that they texted me telling me that I needed to pay the deposit. I never received the text. The owner then told me it was my fault that the cake wasnt made because I didnt pay the deposit. When I asked why nobody called me He said it is not his job to chase customers down for payment.. never offered to try to get something together to save my sons birthday but told me I needed to calm down and get the hell out of his store. The cake was literally the only request that my 5 year old had for his birthday, and I had to scramble to get cupcakes from the grocery store before the party. The customer service was terrible. I have used this bakery many times before for my childrens birthdays and have spent plenty of money on the cakes, my children have always enjoyed stopping for a cake pop but never again will I support that business. Completely unacceptable.

I have heard great things about this bakery but I am very disappointed to say my experience was not the best. I was in town for an appointment and decided to stop in for some sweet treats. They looked amazing but once I got home and tried what I had purchased, I was very disappointed to say the least considering I paid $25 for 6 cupcakes and 4 cookies!!! The cupcakes were not fresh and actually tasted as though they had been made days ago. The icing on them was hard and again tasted old. My kids would not even eat them. The sugar cookie I got was amazing but the others unfortunately were extremely hard and crunchy. I did not let my toddlers eat them in fear of choking! If I didn’t live an hour away, I would have went back and demanded a refund.

We order 12 cupcakes once a week for our dealership and they never disappoint. They always get them done quickly and they are amazing!

Thank you so much for making such a perfect cake for my mother’s 1 year cancer free celebration. I ask for a pink breast cancer ribbon and the day of pick up the decorator called to ask if he could add some detail to the ribbon to make it special. I agreed and this beautiful cake is the result. I ordered a bridal shower cake from Sweet Thing. I was hoping to get the cake from Nickles Pickles, but the owner has been having health issues. I called her sister and she recommended Sweet Thing. When I ordered the cake, I was told that I should send a picture of what I wanted and they would give me the price. I received a message the next day as a reminder. I sent several pics and was told the price in return. I inquired about payment. No response. Two days later, I got a text confirming the date and time of pickup. Again I inquired about payment. Again, no response. On Saturday, my pickup time, I arrived to get my cake. Surprise!!! NO CAKE. The girls working that day were very apologetic, which didnt help- I still didnt have a cake!! The girls working told me that this kind of thing had happened before, and they offered to decorate enough cupcakes for the shower at no charge. Since I had no other choice, I agreed. The cupcakes were cute, but they were not the gorgeous cake I ordered! Apparently, I was supposed to pay a deposit, never mentioned, and pay in full before pickup, never mentioned! When I got no response to my offer to pay, I believed that I would be paying at pickup. The decorator and the co-owner seriously dropped the ball! Somebody needs to work on their communication skills.Had it not been for the young ladies who fixed the cupcakes, I would be leaving a 0 stars review.

Beyond Amazing! We had a Halloween Baby Shower and the cake was so adorable no one wanted to cut it...Once we did it was absolutely delicious. I should have taken a stack of business cards because everyone wanted to know where I got it from. I hope I am able to throw some business your way because you were all an absolute joy to work with!!!

I am very disappointed at the customer service that I received from Sweet Thing Bakery. I had a red velvet cake ordered for my birthday, the icing or flowers on the cake had coconut in it. My husband is allergic to coconut. We called the bakery and they told us to bring the cake back. When my husband got there with the cake, the person that spoke with him argued that the cake did not have coconut, they took the cake and offered nothing in exchange. I used to think highly of Sweet Thing Bakery and would recommend them to everyone. I will not anymore. Very disappointed!

But its very frustrating to know that i plan to go an take my son to get a cupcake an i pull up there to be told that there hours online are wrong an that they closed at 5pm instead of 6pm . So just wanted others to be aware an call before driving there an make sure there actually operating the same hours they have listed online..

Sweet thing bakery has the best cupcakes I have ever tasted. My favorite is the double vanilla cupcake. They also have keto choices and so many others including cheesecake, macaroons, cakes, cookies and cake pops. Just an amazing place with some amazing sweet things. Prices are very reasonable and definitely without a doubt worth every penny. All I can say is thank you for choosing statesville sweet thing bakery!.

Their cakes are delicious & the staff was extremely professional & nice. Even a year later, our top layer tasted just as good as the day we had our tasting to determine flavors. The strawberry champagne was so good, it was chosen for 2 of our layers.

Not good AT ALL pastry’s were flavorless and the Lattes were just bitter espresso that has been waaaay over steamed so they were actually super hot and just really not good at all! I’m sorry I support local business but this was awful!

The best bakery in statesville

I could not have asked for a better experience. I had lined up two other interviews to do my wedding cake but decided immediately I wanted this bakery (Preston) to do my cake. He was so enthusiastic when I told him I theme and showed him what I was looking for. I can tail he truly enjoys what he does. I have zero complaints. I showed him a picture of my inspiration cake and we worked together to make a few changes to make it my dream cake. It was honestly the best tasting cake I’ve ever had and it was absolutely beautiful. It was chocolate cake with cherry filling. He matched my wedding color perfectly on the details of the cake. I show pictures to people who were not at the wedding and the first thing they say is ....oh wow how pretty. I absolutely would use them again if I needed another cake. I had so many people tell me it was the best cake they’ve ever had.

I am an avid believer in cakes/ cupcakes that are not dry. This bakery takes moist to the next level! I am impressed and will never go elsewhere! I had a party and guests have been talking about my cupcakes and cake for 2 days!!!!

My wife and I found Sweet Thing Bakery when we were scouting for our wedding cake. We found this gem and instantly fell in love with the desserts as well as Preston and his staff! They have been very informative and helpful through out the whole process. When we went in for our cake tasting, we tried several different types of cake as he explained the cake and icing. Even though our wedding was a year away when we decided on our cake, we would go into the bakery just to grab something sweet and were never disappointed! I must say that this bakery doesn’t know how well of a job they do! Not only were our guests satisfied, but we gained a new friend. This place does not disappoint with variety and cost! 5 stars doesn’t do justice!

BEST CUPCAKES EVER hands down! Largest selection of cupcakes and desserts around! My favorite cupcakes include the Carrot Cake, Red Velvet and German Chocolate but they are all to die for. I have yet to have a cupcake or dessert from here that disappointed. They have a huge selection of sweets, including some really impressive wedding cakes that are always awesome to look at while your in the bakery. A little pricey, but WELL worth it.

Made a special trip to come downtown to make a purchase here. Google says 8pm and they were closed at 6:15. Very disappointed.

If I could give 0 stars I would this place is horrible!They gave my wife’s cousin a basic white cake for her wedding and it was suppose to have flowers on it!She didn’t find out about the cake until they were ready to cut the cake!They also said they would make up for it for her sons 1st birthday! So when she went in to talk to them about the cake the guy she spoke with told her how much of a liar she was and wanted to make fun of my Aunt because of her illness!!!I really wouldn’t recommend this place they will trash talk your family and you will get no respect!If your smart you’ll take your money else where!Walmart does better and more tastier cakes then they can make!

Sweet Thing Bakery Staff and Co Owner Was very Rude. When trying to place a order for a cake the staff was very rude, she seemed annoyed, I felt like I was pulling teeth to get her to help me. when I asked to speak to the owner she was just as rude . Sweet thing Bakery you no longer have my business. I went right over to publix. customer service was excellent. maybe you need to brush up on your customer service skills

Very good cupcakes

I have visited this bakery three times and only been able to actually go in and order something once. I assume it has to do with a miscommunication of timing, I always try to see if it lists them as open before arriving but somehow it still remains an issue. Aside from that, I genuinely enjoyed the things that I got when I did make it. The coffee was surprisingly good, and the pastries that I got were exceptionally well made. My girlfriend was tempted enough to try one of the macaroons and surprisingly loved it. Shes normally not one to enjoy them, so Im sure that attests to their quality of showcasing and product that they make.

Preston, at Sweet Thing Bakery made my daughters wedding cake this past weekend. It was fabulous. Not only was it beautiful and decorated exactly like my daughter wanted, but it was unique using figs as accents which were beautiful and the taste was as good or better than any cake I have ever had. Although Preston made my other daughters wedding cake and it was very different from this one, but the flavor of that Praline cake to honor New Orleans was also absolutely fabulous I highly, highly recommend Preston at Sweet Thing. We are so lucky to have him in Statesville!!

⭐Horrible Customer Service⭐In March 2019 i ordered a bone shaped caked for my sons party and it was just what u wanted. This year i ordered a small baby shark cake 3 layered to feed about 20 people. Well this Covid-19 has pushed our everyday lives in all different directions forcing me to postpone my daughters 1st birthday. So when i went back to see what could be done about a refund i was told only thing i could get was a gift card only for his place of service (i didnt like that but took it anyways).Then when i was ready to reschedule the party I was told a different price from the original one. So i was told there must have been a mix up and was expecting a phone call the next day from Pretson hisself (never recieved it), instead he had one of his young inexperienced workers do all the talking. I was then told that i couldnt get the cake on the scheduled day because they were book completely booked until the end of June which that wasn never discussed on the phone that previous day. And also speaking of a policy, there is no policy posted on the sote or inside the store itself! Ugh im just completely done with this bakery and wouldnt recommend it to anyone. ⭐Horrible Customer Service ⭐

So..... I love this place and all the cupcakes.... MOST of the staff is friendly and nice EXCEPT for a certain person that seriously seems like she doesn’t want to work. She makes a face all the time... she is not friendly and has an attitude!!! Every time we go in it’s the same.... I probably shouldn’t care about “the one” but it really bothers me as a costumer that such a wonderful bakery has people like that representing them.On another note if you close now at 6 PLEASE update the hours.... some of us are willing drive from afar to enjoy your pastries but again someEmployees hate when we get there late

Over priced cakes that come out the wrong flavor than what was ordered. Take your money elsewhere. Absolutely ruined my sisters wedding--no shame in admitting they made a mistake, but did nothing to fix it. Dont waste your time with the rude staff, go somewhere else.

Sweet things recently did the cake, cupcakes and brownies for my wedding. Everyone talked about the way the sweets were displayed they called it the cake forest. It was absolutely beautiful and all the sweets were fantastic. Brownies were superb!! Beautiful Job. Would recommend them to anyone

There is such a thing as TOO sweet. Every cupcake tastes the same, overly sweet. I do like the coffee and the staff is friendly.

The owner is very rude and likes to blame his customers for his mistakes. He also be littles people and acts like hes better than you. Instead of owning up to a mistake and fixing it he was flat out rude and blamed the bride. When we went to him about the mistake he said he would make it right by doing our sons first birthday cake. He quoted us $350 for a birthday cake!! How is a birthday cake more than a wedding cake? I did not request anything special about the cake. He told me and my mom I dont care what you say I never said that. He also proceeded to make fun of my mom and her health issues. He is a cruel man and I will never go there again. The owner needs a crash course on how to be a decent human being and speak to people right! And honor your promises and fix your mistakes! If someone isnt happy in a business...Ive always been told you try your hardest to make it up to them so you dont lose their business and this guy just doesnt care.

I love this place they are sweet kind and offering they get orders right and there coffee is a persional favorite!!!When i go there for school and we are like 25 to 50 cent off they say dont worry about it I got it coverd. I give 5 stars we love your shop so much and I love the people there to so quit a;; the hating and be nice they spend more than 12 hours there every day to please there customers and maybe get a dscount so dont treat peoplerude have some respect. I LOVE this bakery!!! I have ordered cakes, pastries, cupcakes, and coffee from Preston for a couple of years and they have always went above and beyond my expectations when it comes to flavor and design. The cupcakes are just out of this world and their creativity will blow you away!! I highly recommend this bakery.

Third time coming here as a walk-in customer. Awesome service every time. Pastries and coffee are the best in town. No need to go anywhere else to satisfy my sweets craving.

The pastries/cakes are outstanding but I cant say the same for the coffee. I have purchased coffee here twice in the last few weeks and both times it was lukewarm and had to be reheated in the microwave. Hot beverages should be served in a temp range of 160 -195 for optimum flavor. Unfortunately there are very few coffee venues here and I have run the gamut on those and found them not to be any better. I am in town on family business by way of Cincinnati where we have a plethora of excellent coffeehouses. Luckily I brought my french press, the best way to make and enjoy coffee.

I hired Preston for my wedding that was dated June 21, 2019. I married my husband June 21, 2018. However, this was going to be the BIG wedding.. My husband found out that his cancer had returned and our priority was to focus on him living. The treatment that he would get required a out of state move. We reached out to everyone telling them the situation that was causing us to call off the wedding. He refused to refund any of the 960 plus dollars we spent with him. He sent a gift card in that amount after my husband called, called and called him. He claim to have sent it weeks ago but the post office stamp told on him. He knows that leaving the state his gift card is of no use to us. His speedsheet says no refund on deposits. He required a 250.00 deposit and I gave him 500.00. So if thats non refundable what about the rest???He has not made the cake or ordered any thing for the cake this early.What if my husband doesnt make it to June then there would be no wedding anyway.While he seemed very nice and invitinting, he is cold and heartless for this!

Ive been going to this place for a minute (that means a while) and its dope (that means good). Everything I get is always delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful.

I ordered a birthday cake for my wife a week in advance, and after I concluded my order I told the young lady who took my order that I would be back the following Friday or Saturday to pick it up. She assured me that it would be okay and even told me that the cake would keep well overnight if I had to pick it up Saturday (the day of the party.) I was very excited because my wife loves the desserts from Sweet Thing and I was excited to get her a cake from her then-favorite bakery. I call ahead the following Saturday to let them know I was on my way, and was informed that the cake had already been sold. When I asked why, I was told the pickup date was for Friday and I didnt respond to text or phone call (I received neither) and he (the owner) didnt have time to wait for me. In a rush for a cake, I went to Ingles and picked up a frozen one as a replacement. The bakery staff at Ingles were very friendly and helpful with assisting me to resolve my cake-less situation. By my experience, Sweet Thing has what seems to be a incredible lack of communication, an incompetent staff, an owner who would rather turn a quick dollar than build return business, and a horrible business model. There are cupcakes in that bakery that have more business sense and customer service skills than the owner and staff. Perhaps they could drive over to the bakery at Ingles and get an education on how to bake and run a bakery operation.

Please do not make accuses for your behavior or the fact that you did not want to take the time to make the cake. All I know is if I would have acted that way at my job I would not have one. Know one deserves to be treated the way you treated my wife. Really hope that you do not treat everyone that way.

On the keto kick and couldn’t believe this place has keto desserts now! I’m so excited because I love everything here from the cupcakes to the cinnamon rolls down to the coffee! Perfect bakery and now keto caramel macchiato brownies that are soooo good!! AND chocolate chip brownies that crumble and just melts in your mouth ! And they even have more stuff that I haven’t tried yet but plan on it because everything is so delicious! 🤗 If you’re on the keto diet short term or long term, this is your to go dessert place for that sugar carb craving and if you’re not on keto this place is perfect for just amazing desserts !!❤️💜

Beware of Attitude!! Someone needs to work on their business etiquette! My sons 6th Birthday is coming up so i went to what seems to be a nice bakery to make his special cake. Ill be fair and say the girl that helped me estimated the cake to be around $100 but said dont hold her to that because her boss Preston would have to call back with a more accurate price. He called back and Quoted $165 plus $50 for delivery. Im not complaining about price because a person should be able to charge what they feel their worth is. When I came back to get my deposit ($50) the cashier told me that i would have to come back another day when the owner was there and that they only give store credit! (The last thing I need is store credit at an over priced bakery) after arguing with me she called him, he came to the store practically throwing my deposit at me and mumbling under his breath! If you have a wedding or birthday dont go here, dont let them treat you like they treated me! The Sweet Thing Bakery & Cafe has gone sour!!! Too Bad their isnt a zero star
