Marty was beyond helpful with outfitting our group with everything we wanted to rent and all the things we needed for a fun and safe day on the river. I never knew paddling a “ducky” could be so much fun! Thanks again. Wow! Amazing customer service. You dont come along that often anymore. We rented kayaks for 10 of us and Marty was extremly helpful!! He told us about a perfect spot to go and we had a great day. We will definitely rent here again next time we come back.

My fiance and I went here to get kayaks while on vacation in Colorado. Marty was super helpful and made sure we were able to have a good experience with them. Also really accommodating as my fiance is in a wheelchair so he made sure we got something with a good backing. Definitely will go back whenever were able to go to Colorado again.

A great crew that not only knows how to have a good time, but they also keep true to their schooling as well. Our guide, Janer (spelling?), did a great job teaching us the hows and whys to techniques. He also knew how to provide an awesome for our family. Thank you!

OMG!! What a fun experience! We are novices, but a big shout out to “Brian” as he patiently taught us some basics and took us on a great run down the Yampa. This is a MUST DO in Steamboat. ( He also took pictures of us along the way.)

The staff/owner of this place are great people! We thoroughly enjoyed the Never Ever beginners course as a perfect foundation to kayaking. The gear is top notch which I was not expecting from a rental shop/school. I cannot recommend this place enough if youre even remotely interested in kayaking, and if you dont believe me, just ask a Steamboat local. They will probably give an even more shining review of this place!

I rented a couple paddle boards from Marty and the MSKS team like I have every summer for 6-7 years now. Always friendly and helpful would recommend them to anyone looking to rent gear or if you are new to the river / water and want to get a foot wet!

DO NOT PURCHASE!! FALSE ADVERTISING!!Mountain Sports Kayak School advertises a “Never Ever” Kayak lesson for beginners fo $75 per person. We found out the hard way this is absolutely NOT the case. When we arrived we told them we wanted to book the $75 beginner kayak lesson at 1pm for $75. An employee took our credit card and told us to meet him at 1:30 without ever giving us a receipt or total. At the end of the tour a gentlemen walked by and asked the guide how much it cost to rent kayaks, and our guide also told him they do tours for $75 per person.Mountain Sport Kayak school ended up charging us over $100 more than what we had agreed upon!!! When we contacted the merchant, we were told that they would not refund any money because we had signed up for a private lesson, which is absolutely not what we wanted! When we told him thats not what we signed up for, he then says well we only do private lessons now. Well then why didnt they tell us that when we signed up and why are they still advertising $75 per person.This company is extremely shady. Do not do business with them!Furthermore, at the end of the tour, we were told they only take drivers back to their vehicles, even though it was just me and my wife on what was supposedly a “private lesson”, so i wait about 15 mins for this huge van to show up to take just me back to my car, so about 15 more minutes through traffic and town to get my car, 15 mins back through traffic and town to get my wife, then another 15 mins back through traffic and town to get back home. How does this make sense?? My wife was not happy.

We went to rent a paddleboard from these guys. They ended up convincing us to get a crossover kayak paddleboard. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Great prices as well.

Marty is a great guide on the river! Everything was smooth, from the drop-off to the pick-up and everything in-between.

Marty rocks. Needed 2 SUPs, only one available on a busy Friday. Went for a SUP and needed a single Duckie as a second choice. Was only a tandem Duckie available. He chucked in 2 PFDs gratis to offset the cost, loaded everything for us, threw in an electric pump on top of the regular pump. Clearly a guy who does his best to make stuff work even when needs cant be precisely met. Made a great day happen nonetheless. Ive been in mountain sports rental/retail (ski & snowboard) for 32+ years, this is how service is done. Go see these folks.

Excellent experience for my midwest family from the time I called to inquire, the hostess are the shop, the guide Marty, the river, the shuttle, the equipment, no problem.

Great location right off of the main drag (Lincoln) spots can fill up fast in summer so try to call ahead
