Paul was very helpful from this professional business location. I had a Caterpillar engine with a starting problem he was able to walk me through to find out what was wrong even after I brought this starter in to get it replaced. He could have sold me the starter regard less but took the time to give me some valuable education. You dont find a lot of businesses that will take the time to help out like that they have gained a life long customer.

The Alternator on my sailboat was shot - The power terminal was wobbling kind of broke. I asked the Marina Manager who they use and was told explicitly, Sailon Electric in Syosset. I talked with Paul on the phone and they had an OEM replacement so I got ready to take my old alternator and ride on over.Another sailor had suggested a place over in College Point. He got a good deal on the one he had done 10 years ago. I checked the reviews and they were mixed, so I decided to go with Pats recommendation.When Paul saw my original he knew right away that it wasnt the manufacturers original. He let me know it was an upgraded Balmar and that if I wanted he could fix or rebuild it. I went for the rebuild as it seemed obvious the man knew his stuff and I wanted a reliable fix.A couple of days later, Paul left me a message to come pick it up. It looked as pretty as an alternator can look on the counter. I explained my system and some confusion I had as to how to attach the external regulator (which he tested for me, gratis) showed Paul a diagram that he just dismissed and let me know I was complicating the situation. Paul then simply walked me through what went where and it started to make more sense.The alternator is installed and cranks out the Amps. I am very glad I took Manhasset Bay Marinas recommendation to use Sailon Electric for my Marine Alternator Rebuild.

Brought an alternator in for re-build. Was quoted a cost of $260. Shop said they were having difficulty getting it to operate properly after re-build, suggested an alternative alternator at $425. I brought them a wiring diagram for my car, specific to the charging system. Mysteriously they were then able to get it to operate correctly, but now the cost was $385, with no valid reason for the 50% bump in cost. As far as I am concerned, they found opportunity to hose me. Does the alternator now work? - yes, but still a sour taste in my mouth.
