Oh my goodness and pure deliciousness! Also never knew they made their own hand dipped ice cream bars. We ate them before we could take a picture. Picked up some of my favorites; Sea foam Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate, a bag of broken mint chocolates, peanut butter fudge and a few random chocolates! This place is 96 years old.

Have not had anything that I have not enjoyed from here. I do really like the whipped marshmallow and my husbands favorite is the mint chews. Also recommend the hand dipped ice cream bar.

Great, as always. I called this morning at 10:00 with a special order, and it was ready for pick up by 2:00. I have been a customer for 30 years, quality does not change.

They often have bags of chocolate that are hugely discounted because they didt fit properly in the packaging, I always buy these. Steal. The regular chocolates are delicious.

It was an awesome experience going in for candy! It was like a trip to the past, 40s 30s eras! The sweet products made by hand, so artisan!

We love stopping in here for a local treat. These hand made candies are super tasty. I came here a lot as a kid and have been able to share that with my kiddo too. They have been so kind and patient to my little one, and for me, that’s the best service.I’ve also seen them take special requests from families and that warms my heart. One instance was a woman who wanted caramel apples for her kiddo getting braces off and they made them out of season. It was extra wonderful because they had extras from doing the special batch and we too got to enjoy a caramel apple not in the fall. This kind of care is what makes Johnson’s candy company such a special part of Tacoma.

Went there for the first time today and it was awesome. The lady at the register was really nice, and the candy was really good. The candied orange peels dipped in chocolate were really good.

I love this little candy shop. It reminds me of when I was a child in the South. Could be far more generous with the nuts though.

Im surprised to read other reviews, because our experience was completely different. My wife and I and 3 kids walked from our nearby home to get some treats for the holidays, but from the minute we walked in we were not made to feel welcome. We were asked are you all together? even though we waited until the store was empty to enter. Our children were quiet and well-behaved. When my wife asked about maple fudge, which is advertised on their instagram page, the answer was a curt no. The staffer than said shed be right back, and upon returning asked if we were ready. My wife said, were still deciding, she said your still what?? They didnt have much to choose from and so we decided to take our business elsewhere. We live in the neighborhood and were hoping to support a local business but I guess well have to look elsewhere.

The price and customer service was excellent. My family loved their Easter badkets

Quality products...but do not miss out on the chocolate dipped icecream bars...these are clearly on the secret menu. My only comment is that the staff needs to be a bit nicer to people...strangely dour for a candy store. Willy Wonka would be slightly ashamed of the Veruca Salt behavior.

I was tasked with finding fudge for my grandson for Christmas.I first went to Emilys in Fife when recommended Johnson Candy Co. In Tacoma.I did buy some gluten free dark chooclate covered cranberries and cherries from Marilan at Emilys before heading to Johnson Candy co. For the wonderful fudge.

Why the heck would you order generic candy online when a place like this exists? Try the ice cream bars a try as well. You wont be disappointed.

I’ve loved this place for years, and felt compelled to finally leave a review because of their A+ service during these unsettling plaguetimes. I was able to send my nieces and nephews in California beautiful Easter chocolates, get milk chocolate truffles to my sainted mother in time for Mother’s Day, and a big box of divinity to my husband for our anniversary. The candy is always great and I’ve enjoyed giving their local chocolates as gifts for years, but their above and beyond service since COVID-19 hit is really something special. Candy ships promptly and with cooling packs and it couldn’t be easier to just call them up and place your order with a credit card. I love them. 🍫

Johnson candy company has been around as long as l can remember. My mother took me there as a child. I am 70 years old and still enjoy stopping in on occasion. Wonderful confections.

I was visit Seattle and was looking to get some salt water Taffy and I ended up finding this store. Its super cute and it had a so many candies to choose from! Even sugar free, which worked out perfectly since I wanna get some for my grandma.

First time here and I loved it! The smell as soon as you walk in the door is enough reason for anyone to check it out. Hand made Taffy and chocolate galore, 3rd generation owed, and all done upstairs!!! Definitely a must if you are in Tacoma.

Probably the best chocolate Ive had in the US and definitely right up there with the Europeans. Johnsons really does make their own and they do it right. The brandied cherries at Christmastime are worth waiting for!

I was down here from Tucson Az visiting my daughter and her family in Gig Harbor went to Tacoma touring.. .During our tour my daughter who is pregnant had cravings for pho noodles and we parked our vehicle on the side of this candy store. After we had lunch we went in the candy store to look around, ! I bought each of us a piece of chocolate and a box of assorted chocolates and a box of truffle chocolates . And I had to say they were delicious .And I felt so good to support a store that has been around for 3 generations . I plan on still connecting and I plan on ordering from my home town and start handing them out as gifts to friends.Thank you..😊

Lots of one of a kind candies. Some items are seasonal, lots of sugar free items, and items that are discounted cause theyre the odds and ends of a batch. They mostly do chocolates. But try their sliced fruit gummies and house made ice cream bars.
