Nick at UBC was professional, knowledgeable and went above and beyond in problem solving to ensure comfort and safety with my son’s bike. We sent a bike from NM for our son who is serving an LDS bike mission in FL and even though we didn’t purchase the bike through them, UBC still took excellent care in putting it together, fixing the issue with the brakes and making sure my son walked out with his bike prepared for 2 years of daily biking. I got moment to moment updates and problem solving. Thanks UBC for you kindness, expertise and honesty when we couldn’t be there. It’s nice to have good people with good work ethics there to get the work done… oh and did I mention they did it in record breaking time to accommodate my sons schedule!!!! They will be our families go to bike shop in Florida!

Recently, I purchased a bicycle from UBC. I met Alec and he put me on the right bike and set me up on the bike. Professional service at its best. Today I returned with a second bike that was purchased at a different shop than UBC, but came back to install a few things we bought from UBC for that bike from my previous visit. Today we met Ashton in the service department. This dude was amazing. He took the time with Tiffany to set up her bike that was never done at the other shop. From adjusting the saddle, small fixes on the gears and adjusting the brakes, he took the time to set the proper air pressures in the front and rear shock and the tires. This, to everyones surprise, had not been done at the shop she bought her bike. EVERYTHING from my purchase to Tiffanys service was amazing at UBC. A+ THANK YOU ALL AT UBC

This is perhaps the best bike store Ive ever encountered everybody that works there is ultra helpful and theyve got the best bikes that Ive seen around the top all the best brands and they let you test drive them ride the bikes and their prices are phenomenal. The owners a real class act hes very informative and as helpful as I can as Ive ever encountered I cant stress enough that this is definitely the place to go if you need a bike any bike. Id give these place 10 Stars if they had it.

University Bicycle Center is the ultimate bike shop!!! They can accommodate any of your cycling need and their prices are pretty very competitive. My wife and I visit Tampa every three months to spend time with the family and grandkids. I just recently discovered that your bicycle can fly with you, so I brought mine on this trip from St. Louis. After reassembling my bike I had trouble shifting gears. I noticed some cable damage at the rear derailleur that I sustained from a previous accident. I found UBC using Google and made contact with Ashton by phone. I explained to him that I was on vacation and didn’t want my bike sitting in a shop for days waiting on repairs. Ashton told me to bring the bike in so he can take look at it. Ashton was very professional, knowledgeable and most of all courteous. The facility is huge, very clean and simply impressive. Ashton replaced the entire cable running from the shifter to the rear derailleur. He had me up and riding again within a hour. Very organized, clean, and spacious. Friendly staff and customer service. Only bought pliers but saw a wide range of bikes and parts, accessories too, while I was there. They were the only one carrying what I wanted while searching online and after checking my preferred bike shop. Its not a nearby shop to me but worth the travel. See this review in the perspective of a shopper than a bike services customer. But seeing how busy their service desk was, Id say their services must be attractive.

UBC is a great place to shop if youre into cycling. They always have the parts youre looking for. If you ride, things will eventually fail and these guys will usually have the parts to get you back on the trails. Or the road if youre less adventurous.

This is a busy place, but the customer services is good. I like bringing my bike here when I need minor things fixed like a blown tire or maybe a chain that needs to be changed. I also feel that the prices are fair. They recently did a remodel, and the whole place looks fantastic now.

Great experience here. Lawrence helped me pick out a bike that was perfect for my needs, allowed me to test ride it, and got it all fixed up prior to taking it. I took my bike to the service area to have work done and 3 days later picked it up. When I got it home the repair was incomplete so I called to complain to management. My complaint got no response till I made a 1 star Google review post. All of a sudden the review meant something and I got a multiple calls, however it was weeks later and I had already taken the bike to another shop. UBC is a big shop with a lot of personnel but customer service and my experience was negative. Not going to recommend!

Ive known of the shop since the 1970s and starting buying bikes from them in the 1990s. The best I can remember, Ive purchased two road bikes and a mountain bike from UBC. Id like to commend Manny Sr. and Omar for rescuing me when my rear wheel broke in multiple places. Ive been riding on the road since age 50 and Im 67 now. Ive logged some 65,000 miles, and its my only ticket to living a medicine-free life. With Covid, I was looking at weeks to get the wheel fixed with ordered parts and I was distraught. I told Manny that I rather buy another Cannondale than wait and get off schedule. In one day, I repeat one day, Omar found me and installed some carbon wheels that have made my rides much more enjoyable and the bike lighter. This alternative was $1,000 less than the new bike I was planning to buy and I lost no time. This was extra-mile service.

My bikes rear wheel was so warped I couldnt ride it anymore. I took it to UBC to drop it off and get it fixed. The staff was super friendly. I figured it would be at least a week before I would get it back, but the next day they called and said it was ready. They were able to make the wheel perfectly round again and rides like new now. A great experience all around.

I live in New Tampa. Dont waste your time going to a bike shop around here. Go to University Bike Shop. They have been around forever, and are much bigger than other shops. I have bought 4 bikes there. Their selection is superior. I took two bent rims in there and got them fixed. They said if they could not fix them they could get them for me, but that was not necessary. My local bike shop said the rims could not be repaired, and referred me to Google to try and find them.

Knowledgable qnd very helpful employees; They offer a great selection of quality bicycles for different terrains. The test drive for the bicycle was good, and plenty long enough to experience the bicycle. You can test the bicycle on the back road before purchasing it. They adjust everything on the bicycle to your liking, and add any additional equipments you buy to the bicycle for free! The sales rep told me that when you purchase the bicycle, they offer 3 free tune ups. Perhaps, you can inquire more about this offer, and aid you on your decision to having a better ride experience. I know I enjoyed and am fully satisfied with my new bicycle. Great job UBC! It feels like you purchased a bike for the first time all over again!

Noah helped me work through the selection process and took the time to explain new concepts about mountain bikes to me. This is my first bike purchase in about a decade, so things have changed quite a bit. They even set up a new bike frame on the spot for me to test ride.

Ive been in the store several time and found the customer service to be severely lacking in most cases. The salesperson pointed me vaguely in the direction of the tire patch kits and walked off. I couldnt find them amongst the dozens of items on the wall and walked out in frustration. I planned to buy additional items but will now be giving my money to Amazon. Prior to this most recent visit, I had a similar experience when attempting to purchase a bike. When the saleswoman learned I wanted a sub $2k bike, she directed me to the bikes and turned her attention to somebody else. I wont buy a bike on Amazon but there are quite a few quality manufacturers (Specialized, that will ship a bike directly to you. UBC needs to improve their customer service if they want to regain my business. If it continues like this, theyre simply going to be an Amazon showroom for parts and equipment.

Great Customer Service . I took my 26in 18-speed bike with a wobbly crank and they fixed me right up for a great price . It took about 24hrs turn around time . Now my bike rides like butter again. Thank You so much !!!!!!!!!

They charge $7 for a inner tube and $10 to install it. Thats ridiculous! I will just go to well built bikes and pay less than half of that. You guys are greedy.

Nothing is ever easy at this bike shop. There are bike shops that are far more focused on customer service in the Tampa Bay area.

Everyone has been telling me to go here, knowing I’ve been looking into getting a bike. I went to a different bicycle store first, and had a terrible experience. I finally made it into UBC today- and it truly is as great of an experience as everyone says! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. You can tell that they want their customers to be happy. Very honest and not trying to upsell. Their honestly of what I would and wouldn’t need actually lead me to upsell myself, lol. Alex and Alec were both extremely helpful and created an amazing customer experience for me! I can’t wait to ride my new bike tomorrow!

Staff is kind and very helpful. I purchased a pair of bikes and the transaction went flawlessly. I drove from West Palm Beach to pick them up. The bikes were put together and tested. Would recommend.

A very nice & honest business practice here. I had a flat tire & took my bike to them for repair. They fixed it within 15mins, put a new tube in & didnt charge me an arm & leg for the labor. Two days later my bikes tire is flat again so I take it back, confused if it got a puncture again or someones messing with my bike. They assured me theyll take care of it and call me as soon as its done. I was expecting it to be there for the weekend as I took it on Saturday, but after an hour or so I received their call that its already fixed. I went to pick it up ready to pay again, but they told me that theres no charge as its there fault that they didnt take out the thorn properly last time, that was stuck in the tire. I was pleasantly surprised as they could have just charged me but they were honest about it and fixed it for free. Plus their service is very fast too. Happy to have this place near by & serving.

I had a bad experience, and when I brought it to the owners attention, he said there was nothing he could do about it. He said you cant please everyone. UBC was not knowledgeable enough to reset the bike computer after they caused it to not work. They said they couldnt fix it. So, I took it to Olivers Bike Shop on Bruce B. Downs, and within 5 minutes, they had it working. The owner of UBC should have offered me some type of compensation, gift cert., etc. for all the driving and inconvenience that I experienced. I had just spent over $100 getting a preventative service done with UBC. I would not have told a customer that you cant please everyone and wash my hands of the matter, especially since they caused the problem.

I had an equally bad experience as I did good experience. What I mean by that is once I *finally* got my bike, it was exactly what I expected and was worked on professionally when I picked up the bike today, 08/28/20. However, I wasted 40ish minutes driving there yesterday. I got a call earlier this week stating my bike was ready for pick up, so yesterday I drove up from Ruskin to retrieve it. The gentleman behind the counter was in awe as to why my bike was untouched, unworked on, in the same shape as when I left it. He informed me someone marked my account as finished and didnt put any notes in my account, thus why I got a call that its done, because their system said it was done. Yet my bike wasnt worked on. He assured me hed get it done within the next day (and they did) but nonetheless I drove 40 minutes 1 way up, an hour an a half round trip, due to someone informing me the bike was ready for pickup, when in fact it wasnt. The bike was very well worked on when it really was finished, just sucks I wasted the time and gas making my way up just to leave empty handed.

Disappointed, was referred here from a bike guy. Brought a used folding bike in that was left to me. I didnt know how to fold it w/o breaking it. They called me for pickup, i took off work and they changed the brake pads. They dont know how to unfold it. Heres your bill. Im sure there good people, but dont give them anything they cant handle.

If you need your bicycle serviced or any of its equipment do yourself a favor go somewhere else like Outspoken or Citrus Park bicycle shop this is my third experience with the service department at University bicycle shop they say one thing and do another send you home with faulty equipment just so you have to turn around and bring it back the only highlight of the shop is Omar in sales

Highly recommend! This place is awesome! Huge space with soooooo many bike parts and a nice shop. Patrick is great! I thought my seat was completely broken but he did some maneuvering and was able to fix it. Very professional and had a great attitude. Definitely coming back for all my bike needs.

I discovered UBC after they opened up their shop at Alafia and I am so glad they did. I bought my new bike from them after riding their rental while they were working on my broken bike. I break my toys a lot and Manny and his crew have kept me and my family rolling. UBC has worked on 5 different bikes and have exceeded my expectations every time. It is a great bike shop with awesome people working there. Highly recommend.

Best bike shop I have ever been into, the staff that work there love the job they do and they will take all the time you need to make up your mind on the right bike or accessories for you, every time I shop there it`s like i`m visiting a group of friends and I just met these guys a few weeks ago, if you drive 45 mins to shop there like I do, they will do their best to fix your bike while you wait just call them up before you head over. My bike was purchased and all maintenance performed by them.

Dropped two bikes off for a tune up. They have 3 levels of tune ups, before they did any work on them I was waiting for some sort of quote to let me know an estimate. Instead I got a call the day they were ready and all the work was done already. They replaced some “worn” parts on the bikes but never bothered to call to let me know a quote or update. They also didn’t replace some nuts on the stem that are stripped because they don’t carry those. Idk what kind of bike shop doesn’t have nuts and bolts available.The person at the front desk was also sneezing and blowing his nose. During this pandemic that should be a huge a no.

Had a great experience here. Rick helped me and told me the straight scoop on what I was looking for. They built a bike for me and when I got home I had second thoughts and wanted a different lighter more compact bike. I brought the bike back the next day and they ordered me the new bike after resizing me and making sure I was happy. Great service! About a week later and I picked up my new bike and I love it. They were great through the whole process. I rarely leave reviews but when you get exceptional service you should recognize it. I’m doing just that. I will never go anywhere else for a bike. Oh also Omar helped me too and also a great guy and super helpful.

Probably the best bike shop in Tampa. Ive been to quite a few, and was very impressed with this place and the service. There are other good ones out there, but this was definitely the best. They are definitely the largest I have seen, and carry a very large amount of small parts that most other places dont. There prices were very competitive too, even compared to Amazon if you dont want to wait. Definitely check them out.

Purchased a Cannondale from you years ago. Sent my son in the store recently to get a new tires - he showed the associate the type of tread he wanted - but after waiting quite a while, the sales associate insisted on showing only what was in stock - Felt like you just wanted to make a sale without any regard for what the customer wanted. Later I went to the Kenda site, selected two tires, got a 25% discount code online and Free Shipping. Ended up with 2 new Kenda tires that fit the purpose for under $60 shipped to my door. You lost a customer.

I called and had bad experience with the sales associate she was the Spanish and then not know two different models that I was interested in purchasing I’m about to spend $800 on a credit card and that she wanted to put me on hold. It’s a shame when I openly told her I’m about to spend money and she asked for the white model and I told her the name and the model number and she still didn’t know bikes. If she was smart and care about her sales first she should ask my name, then my number, last take my money!I will stop in and try again for I’m shore owner could could take my money better then her.Not knowledgeable on the product nor wanna put me on hold for loss and commission .She might as well said I don’t speak English lol she no help!

I’ve been using these guys for years. The other day I messed up building my wife’s front fork / steering tube assembly . I brought it in and they fixed in the spot for under 10 dollars.. the place in New Tampa wanted 60 dollars and said it would take 3 weeks... I’ll keep doing business with UBC .

I came here to get my first road bike, and Jacob was very helpful. He is very knowledgeable about road bikes and didnt push me to purchase the higher-end bikes as I am a beginner. They properly adjusted the brake, derailleur and seat post to make sure everything works properly before I left the store. Now its only been a few weeks since I purchased the bike, but I am already considering about going back and get a nicer bike.Thank you for being very helpful!

So far so good! I came in today after work to have my road bike serviced. I heard a clinking sound coming from the wheels so I tried to tighten up my bikes spokes and epically failed...both of my wheels are warped and look horrible. I explained my situation to the guy at the service desk (Sales Rep 22756) he was very helpful and knowledgeable about bicycles and their components. He recommended a Level 2 tune-up and that’s what I opted into. They should be done with the tune-up later this week. I’ll update this review after I pick it up!I went back and picked up the bike later that week and my wheels look perfectly new. They did an amazing job, I couldnt be more pleased with their service!
