I did leave a review on Yelp earlier this year that is still available to review. The experience did originally leave a bad taste in my mouth. However, I have been there a few times after to sell some items. The most recent time I was there was October 1st, 2021. I was greeted by Dex who gave me instructions on the process but seemed very annoyed. While I was there I decided to browse through their items. Kylie was sorting through my items when I heard another representative by the name of Delanie express how frustrated she was at the amount of items I had brought in and did not want to sort to price them. Most of the items still had tags on them or were gently worn. I also have great taste and I know that they are lacking on 2x clothing. Delanie, if you get frustrated when people bring their items in for sell and you have to sort through them then this is not the job for you. Kylie is doing an amazing job though she’s super sweet and patient.

Nicest thrift store i’ve ever been in. clean stuff, organized, huge store and reasonable prices. great place overall and the chinese place next to it is amazing 😮‍💨

This was a dream come true. The second most magical place on earth, after Disney. A superb experience that I will remember for my entire life. If I could go back everyday, I would. I enjoy the front of the store, the middle, the back, the windows, the floor. The clothes are ok. The fitting rooms are like little hotel rooms, with no bed or toilet, but you feel like you could sleep and poo while you’re in there.

Really great selection of quality clothing. Nice high end designer items. The designer is a bit over priced and the worker said they do not lower prices. Thats too bad because I could have spent a thousand versus $200. She also told me that in birthday month you received 20% off, I didnt. However, dont let those things stop you from this hidden gem. Its super clean. The workers were laughing, but not at me, they are just fun having a good time at work. They play loud music (maybe too loud for some?) and it has a good vibe. Dont let negative reviews scare you away. Tons of Burch, Kors, and Lilly. The workout clothes and shoes, all looked new too, with all the brand names. I will return next time I am in the area.

Dont waste your time trying to sell anything here. The girl at the counter took not even 2 minutes to look through an entire laundry basket of clothes (I watched, and she did not even look at over half of the clothes.) Only took two items which totaled $6. Cant believe I drove out here to not even have my clothes looked at.Terrible customer service also. Didnt get as much as a hello. She told me bluntly to complete the form and she would look through the clothes, about 10 minutes. (Like I said, it wasnt even two minutes.) She called my name from across the store and bluntly told me that she only found two items, store credit or cash. No explanation, no thank you, have a good day or anything. Dont hire people who cant do basic customer service. Also if someone brings in clothes, at least take the extra 5 minutes to look at every piece. Ridiculous.

My first experience with them was immaculate. Great quality everything, for very reasonable prices. If your looking for name brand clothing or accessories, for a reasonable price, go check them out! You won’t be disappointed!

Store is worse than Platos Closet or Goodwill. They have items that are worn down and they’re only a few bucks less than the brand new at the original store. On top of that their employees are rude and talk about you instead of greeting you. It’s been going on for a long time as u can see in the reviews. I truly believe the owner advices them to do so. Like they’re so high fashion store on rodeo drive. This store is a joke.

I brought fashionable items of well-known brands in great condition and got offered just a few bucks. They seem to be extremely picky about what they take in but I’ve seen items in the store in bad condition (and not at all stylish) for $30-$50 while I brought a modern style and practically new Calvin Klein purse that I wore once and was offered $3 dollars for it. I don’t understand this policy at all, sorry🤷🏽‍♀️

Store was nicely organized and clean. Staff was somewhat friendly but helpful. Main disappointment is that most all their clothing is casual wear and very immodest (to say it politely). Cheap brand names (Forever 21, etc). Will only return if looking for casual summer clothes. Shame - this store could be so much more.

Started thrifting three years ago for Environmental/budget reasons. I live in ATL and was afraid that moving down to Tampa would make thrifting difficult (being a less populated city which typically means less variety in clothing). Today, I went to Uptown Cheapskate and all my fears have disappeared! The clothing is well organized, the store smells fresh, and the prices are reasonable. You can find gorgeous dresses, blazers, heels, tennis shoes, and accessories. I went a little crazy and spend more than I anticipated. No regrets though, everything was perfect. In fact, I plan on driving back tomorrow to pick up a couple items I regret passing on. 😅😅

Third trip to the store as usual horrible customer service. First time selling brought all name brand in season clothing within the sizes I was told your store purchases only 8 items were purchased for $25 not worth it at all in addition while shopping I found a target shirt with $6 original tag but you’re selling it for $9.99 when I asked the clerk she stated yep that’s correct what makes your target shirt worth more money is my question when I’m sure you paid someone next to nothing for it. Prices are about the same as going to Tj Maxx and not get them dirty and used.

I sell to consignment shops and go thrifting in general pretty often. I like this place way better than Platos closet. Nicer items with about the same prices but platos Ive found has lots of items not in ideal condition but still want $ for them. Theyre also extremely picky about what they buy from you which turned me off of consignment for a bit. But Uptown is the opposite of this and has always purchased at least a few items from my bag each time I go to sell. I always find things I like here, I just wish they had more stuff in sizes L+ as thats usually my size, a lot of size Small and XS there. But Im sure its just due to what they get in. Great prices on bathing suits! I got a two piece set from Aerie for only $10. Overall I recommend this place.

So for starters a plain t shirt was 8.99 not to mention the brand was from dollar general then off brand pants were 11.99...... I also stayed at the counter for a good 10 min while the 2 girls talked then she asked today is it ok i dont give you a bag im like well i guess smh... I figured based off the reviews it would be decently priced etc but the only real review i found was how neatly its lay out was. The 2 females were rude and didnt even say hello.Ill stay at platos i mean i even had better service prices and selection at goodwill.... And yes they even have name brand lol

I love coming to Uptown. If i’m being honest I go at least once every two weeks! I always find something new and trendy to add to my wardrobe. I also bring in my gently used clothes and have made upwards of $50 in just one visit. I highly recommend uptown to anyone who is looking to revamp their closet!

My fave thrift store I’ve been to yet! The store is really well organized. It is pricier for a “thrift store” but you get what you pay for. Its not your great aunts donated clothes. Lol. Some of the stuff is super cute. I only give it three stars because they are super random about what items they take, considering what they have on their shelves. Also some items are wildly overpriced. I saw a shirt that I had bought new selling for literally the same price. Also they sell designer items for way too much especially when some of the items are in somewhat grungy condition. Other than to “thrift store” pricing, this store is really fun.

Workers spoke poorly about a another customer within earshot of other customers including myself. Questionable customer service at best, intentionally looking down on patrons more likely. The male and female working should be ashamed of what they were yelling throughout the store.

They always have great deals and stick with trends. I love this place and always find quality pieces. Will never stop talking about this place!!

Pretty disappointed considering I read the reviews before going. Probably worse then platos closet. Only offer about $2-3 for each item regardless of how much you paid for it. And I definitely didn’t get back 25% of the selling price but hey at least i got money for my clothes.

My friend and I found this place doing some research online as I am not from the area. The store is nice and they have a wide variety of items to select from. Everything was going well for us until my cashier forgot the sensors on every item I purchased. The alarm went off as we were walking out and it was extremely humiliating considering we were the only two black people in this predominantly white store. I can’t help but feel as it if was done intentionally. Other than that, I had a good experience here. Would definitely come back and double check everything before I leave. Lol

The store was cute and trendy looking and the people working there were very nice. But I would agree with other posters, you get very little for the clothes you sell and their prices are equivalent to what you can buy at Marshall’s or TJMaxx for new items. They give you about $3.00 for the good items that they will accept i.e. Lauren sweater and Express top both quite new. They will decline taking anything they think is too executive or flashy which I think is odd since many items in the store look like that. I understand not wanting to be overstocked in an item but surprised they turn down almost new clothes because it doesn’t fit their vibe. I was offered a little over $3 more to use my earnings towards a purchase which isn’t exactly a great incentive. I wanted to see the process through so the long and short of it is...I sold 6 items and bought 6 items and it cost me $38.00. Just way too much markup in the resale. You are better off to scour for deals at Goodwill, even with tags still on, the prices rarely go over 7.00 there. Disappointed.PS...Does it seem odd how most reviews are either super perfect or terrible?

The owners attention to detail is second to none. She knows quality as she not only runs the store, she sews and understand high craftsmanship. When we needed masks for our family, I knew just who to call: Uptown Cheap. I know they pay attention to quality and have only the highest standard.

This store is BEAUTIFUL, you would never know the clothing was ever worn! Staff was super helpful and the store was super clean. I came home with some amazing finds.. including a Lilly dress, a pair of converse sneakers and a Kate Spade bag. And, because I traded in some stuff I never wear, it was all almost free!! Oh yeah, Ill be back!

They had a much better environment than let’s say Platos Closet. Much cleaner looking & they have women’s clothing rather than just a focus on juniors. I found a couple pair of dress pants for work in excellent condition and one had the tags still for only $25 for both! (Ann Taylor & Banana Republic) I would recommend looking around even if it’s just for fun. All the girls working were also so informative and kind, unlike the other place I named.

Stopped by Uptown Cheapskate,as I always do when I am near USF. I first started going to these resale shops in Charlotte NC, near UNC. I always find one cool thing to add to my wardrobe. It is easy to shop there. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Ive noticed this store several times when Im shopping at Publix and wanted to check it out, but never had a chance to. I finally stopped there today, and Im so glad I did. This place is so much better than other resale stores Ive been to. The staff is friendly and helpful, the store is clean and well organized, and the merchandise is fantastic! Plus, the prices are so low that you walk out with at least twice as much as a you would anywhere else. An all-around great shopping experience!

Was offered $5 for a brand new metallic Adidas backpack, tag still on showing that it was recently purchased for $60. ThanksThey responded to my comment saying that this was secondhand, meanwhile its straight from the package, flawless, and with the price tag ON. Thanks!

Brand new Lucky jeans, Lucky tops, J. Crew mini skirts, J. Crew shorts, Ann Taylor skinny jeans and tons of other name brand items all in good condition but did not buy one thing 😆 ill never come back. That just means all the stuff you have in there is over priced and I would just rather buy it from the outlets brand new.

Way better than Platos

Went and sold here yesterday and ended up buying a few things (cant resist Lilly Pulitzer at such amazing prices). Overall, I thought it was a fair way to get a little bit of money back for my clothes because a lot of times I just donate to places. Amber (store manager?) helped me and she was super nice. They were quick and gave me two choices. I actually ended up taking the store credit offer because it was higher than the cash offer (so my Lilly was even cheaper

The staff here is super, super friendly. I found a lot of cute shirts in the medium section, but they don’t have the best selection for small shirts. Their prices are a little high but it’s worth it.

Friendly staff and nice clothing. Easy to sell your gently used clothes and if they cant purchase them, they offer to donate them for you.

Very unprofessional staff - laughed at us walking in as well as the clothes we brought in with us, right in front of our faces. We understood that 90% of the clothes we brought probably wouldn’t have been considered, but we wanted to bring them because this company donates the clothes and we wished to donate the remaining clothes that Uptown did not buy. The whole situation was absolutely humiliating to go through. We will never sell there again, we would rather just donate to the needy.EDIT: The store manager reached out to me today. She took the initiative to look at the video footage inside the store and saw what I was talking about. She assured me that she would speak with her staff and also informed me the staff that were acting unprofessional are not normally staff that complete the buys. I appreciate the store manager very much - hopefully future customers wont experience the judgment we did.

I like the store - clean and organized and the management seems to clearly care about the customer experience. They have a nice selection and prices are more than fair, especially considering the various discounts they give you.When I see a bunch of one-star reviews with no comments or stuff like pretty sure they tried to sell me crack or this place needs to be shut down (a clothing store...really?!?) They tried to steal my clothes. I brought in new with tags. The girls told me to donate. I almost did.Then I remebered all that I had brought.I did donate but not thru them!!!!!!!!!!!!!Give it to the person or family yourself.Very discouraging. I was excited when they opened.They have let me down....

Love this new gem!! It offers great selection at very reasonable prices. I love the variety of clothes they offer, the brands and styles... and the selection is good quality too!Ive also sold a few times, and other than the sign in process (kinda long and tedious) goes pretty smoothly and quickly. They offer fair prices as well, and even donate for you the items they choose to not purchase from you.

This store is so FABULOUS. My friend and I came in and we had such a fun time. We were surprised to see that they had a plethora of sizes and brands. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The staff laughed and were conversational. We definitely will be back and look forward to cleaning out our closets to make get store credit (one of the girls told us about that!) We had never heard of Uptown but I’m glad we tried it out. We WILL be back!

Great thrift shop! I just got a new job and needed professional clothing, I found such a variety of pieces to spice up my wardrobe for a great price. It was easy to locate different pieces, whether it was long sleeved blouses or skirts, and it was all color coded which made searching easier. The staff was very friendly as well!
