An excellent value. FFA doesnt have the espresso bar and other frills of some of the larger ranges in the bay area, but what it does have is a 5-year membership for the price of what youll pay for a 2-year membership elsewhere. Twelve 25-yard lanes, and unless you go on a Saturday morning theres usually no wait.

Staff is always friendly, always have a lane available and theyve picked up new inventory. Great place to visit.

The Florida Firearms Academy is a place to try out shooting real firearms in a safe and controlled environment. The team were highly intent on safety and procedure, good for everybody!! If you are visiting from the UK, you will need your passport and ESTA visa. You will not be allowed to participate if you do not have them.The team were very friendly and precise on instructions and made you feel at ease and at home, not at all like a novice. The experience itself is thrilling, you really need to try it to believe how much. Thanks to the guys at the Florida Firearms Academy for a great experience.

Hands down the best place to shoot. The staff are top-notch, and each have something special to offer in experience and providing an experience. Our kids attend the kids sharp shooter class on Sundays and the rest of the family enjoy regular visits to hone the skills and enjoy a welcoming environment.

Yes, you can find ammo online for a bit less (not significantly less), but you have to deal with shipping and cancelled orders.Their gunsmith (Quincy) is absolutely amazing.Classes are well run and the instructor I had was very professional.Range is comfortable, very well ventilated, and has amazing air conditioning (rare for an indoor range).Membership is worth every penny.

Was looking for a 1911. Called before going to get an idea on inventory. Was told to come in, said they had a bunch of 1911s in 45. After driving over an hr. They only had 1 in stock. Was a waist of time. Suggested to provide customers with some type of info vs just saying come in. Not my first pick for a gun shop, bottom 10 spot.

Took my nervous wife to the range for the first time. Staff is very helpful and understanding. Q was a great help and took the time to talk to my wife. Thank you. I will return.

Signed up for safety course, they rescheduled me and never gave me a time or reminder. Missed the course and wasted money. would not recommend going here

Took my 8 year old daughter here for the youth firearms course, and I was quite impressed. Their NRA instructor Jennifer was awesome and really great with the kids. My daughter was very nervous inside the range and Jennifer made her feel really comfortable, and she ended up firing a few rounds.

I love the atmosphere. It is a well stocked store/location. But, what made it so awesome for me, was being able to speak to knowledgeable, approachable people without projected bias. I loved speaking to the Blackman, who was experienced with artillery to the point of build and servicing. As a mother and grandmother of color ...just seeing him made me feel there was hope for the safety of my loved ones. I am told they have conceal carry classes. I am also told they have programs to speak to home schooled and private/parochially educated students.

A great place to shoot, purchase firearms, take gun safety classes. If you need any of your rifles deep cleaned bring them in. Quincy did an outstanding job. I highly recommend.

UPDATE - I went back again, and the fellow who helped me was great...I should have jotted down his name, as he was clearly one of few there who knew what to do...and he took care of my purchase paperwork problem, which they caused.Perfect display of NO management and NO staff training. NO ONE knows what is going on. Clearly NO ONE is in charge. Screwed up my fire arm purchase paperwork, and when I called back to see what was needed - left message with rep who called, me....NO RETURN CALL... Then, when i became more proactive, PHONES DO NOT WORK....MAIL BOX FULL. Tried sending an email, via their website Contact Us...ERROR code, did not send.If you want to see small business DYSFUNCTION at its worst - go to Florida Firearms Academy and just look around...if you cannot see it, just ask someone a question...

I hadn’t been to this range in years because the last time my sons and I attempted to rent range time we were treated like sixth graders on a field trip by the nasty unprofessional range supervisor.We were told that he was no longer there. As I live just 2 miles from the range and I was tired of driving 30 minutes to another range, I decided to give it another try. I’m glad I did. The only thing that is the same is the location....everything else about the place has changed, in a positive way! People are great and much more geared towards a positive customer oriented service.No long lines....good ammo prices and they take care of Veterans like myself

I went in to see the gunsmith, Quincy. It was a little tough getting ahold of him, evidently there is high demand for his skills. Once I got a time slot with him, I could not have been happier with the experience. He very patiently explained how he would go about taking care of issue I was having, how long it would take to fix, and when he would be able to get to it. I have talked to other gunsmiths in the area, and was treated like it was my privilege to speak to them, if you could even reach them. While waiting to talk to Quincy, I observed him working with other customers - he even dispensed advice to one that would allow them to fix an issue on their own.The other staff in the store were courteous, friendly and helpful as well. I have not been to their range yet, but plan to soon.

Went to the range once and joined for a year the next day! Great facility and friendly staff members all around...from training, firearm sales to gunsmithing. HIGHLY recommend this place!

No range officer on range, as an RSO myself I know how quickly things can go south. Need more lighting, I could barely see my target. Need better target selection and range safety video is not extensive enough, IMO, for novice shooters. Now the pluses. Nice and cool on range, rapid firing allowed, and you can take a $35 class and be able to draw from a holster (not even an option at 99% of indoor ranges even unless your LE) and 99% Of citizens can out shoot them. They shoot once a year.

First of all, this is a great place to learn how to shoot and get into the sport. This is a friendly place that welcomes people of all ages to learn how to handle and shoot guns; they have special classes dedicated to introducing women and children into using firearms safely. They offer introductory courses for handguns, shotguns, and rifles.They also offer advanced training, such as home defense. Overall, friendly atmosphere, definitely run by folks who love and respect firearms.This place is often extremely busy and on days when classes are in session this place is PACKED. The gun range is split into two sections and has around 6 stalls per side. There may be a wait to use the range, but it’s rarely longer than 30 minutes and they have a nice waiting area with TVs and coffee. You can rent firearms to use on the range, but there are stipulations for doing so. There is a wide selection of 9mm rentals, and limited numbers of other calibers. They also rent rifles (AR and AK). If you love to shoot, consider getting a range membership for a number of discounts on ammo, accessories, free rentals, etc.They have a place to build custom ARs and service firearms as well.As for the sales aspect of the store, they have more handguns than rifles and shotguns for sale. Inventory changes daily and right now (June/July 2020) has the hottest gun market in years. So if you see something you like and want it, buy it now. Keep in mind 5 day wait if you don’t have your CCL.If there are two things I’d say could be better: The location is bizarre as it’s behind an auto service shop where you can’t see it from the road. Also, they kind of need more space for both classes and perhaps a separate gun range restricted to newbies as it can be really intimidating to be around folks blasting away with higher caliber firearms! Other than that, this place is fantastic!

Love this shop and range! Very safe, very clean and most importantly very professional and friendly employees! Always treat you as a valued customer and always have a smile in their face! My man with the beard in the shop area is great and has worked on several guns for me. Also bought a 1911 from here and they gave me a couple months of free range use..... not sure if they still do this but that’s a pretty awesome deal! Great place all the way around

Waited at least 20min to be helped than had to watch a video because it was my first time.Paid more for ammo than the place I was going to before,I get to the lane they gave me & the thing where you Clíp your target was falling literally apart, I go back in the store to tell someone & 3 out of 4 employees that were just talking glance at me but don’t even acknowledge me finally one of them did & went fixed the problem the vibe was just off,I felt uncomfortable on top of that they don’t have anyone supervising the range so anyone could go rogue, I definitely rather pay a little more for the lane & go to shooters world

Great place. Awesome staff, very friendly and helpful. I had a great time shooting during my lunch break. Prices are good ($15) and there are lots of targets to choose from, only $1 buck or bring your own. Had a blast (pun intended). So much so I needed to purchase some more ammo. The price for that wasnt bad either ($18). Defiantly recommending this place.

I called to verify they had the specific extra magazines that I was looking for in stock. They told me the price and they had several of the exact mags I wanted in the shop. I showed up less than 15min later and they only had one mag and the price was $10 more than quoted on the phone. The guy that I asked for help made it seem like I was bothering him when I asked for assistance. When I explained that I had just called 15min earlier and was told they had multiple mags in stock for $10 less than the price on the box, I was told they would not honor what I was quoted over the phone and they had no more in stock. Waste of time. I will drive further to give my $$ to a shop that is better stocked, has better prices, and gives honest information over the phone.

You know a business is good when you deal with the owner directly most of the times .... my review might be biased since i won a contest with them.... but that side apart, the treatment was fantastic .... my only complaint is the distance i have to drive, i wish it was closer to home but I don’t mind the drive for great service.

Just left my first visit there and couldnt be happier. Everyone was friendly and as involved or uninvolved as you need them to be. If you know what youre doing, they leave you alone. If you need some assistance theyre there to help. The range itself was the first Ive been to that I didnt sweat the whole time. Great ventilation and it stays cool. Nicely maintained area. Was able to shoot my shotgun (00 buck and slugs) 44 mag and 9mm with no hassles or issues whatsoever. Get there early because the lanes do fill up quick. I went on a Saturday and got there right when it opened. When I left there were folks waiting but thats to be expected on a Saturday. Had an absolute great time! Cant wait to go back.

The range is so convenient for me, but the service, or lack of, just isn’t worth it. I have been here a couple times in the past, and it’s always the same. Too many employees standing around, including the three standing right by the front door. Seems like no ones in charge and their all just hanging out. Oh well, I’ve tried more than once, there’s definitely better options available!

I drive 45 minutes to go here. Quincey is the best. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Prices are good. I will continue to go to FFA. Thanks Quincey and staff.

This place is great. I came in as a fist time customer and the staff was super helpful. I shut everything from a hand gun to and assault rifle. As a female and now an NRA Instructor I have been to several ranges and have faced some challenges. Like I said I am an NRA Instructor and I have finally found a range that is professional, clean and completely air conditioned. I take all my new shooting students to qualify for the Concealed Carry License to Florida Firearms Academy. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They will answer any and all questions with respect and they do not talk down to the female shooters. This is especially helpful since ranges can be intimidating for most females. If you are looking for a new range that is clean, spacious and has reasonable prices this is the place for you. Dont have a gun yet, not to worry. They have a large selection of guns for rent. This is a good way to try before you buy. Once you have decided on a gun they also have a selection of new and used guns for sale. Of all the ranges in the area this is the best and there is no limit on your range time.

I have had a family membership for 4 years. The staff is always friendly and professional. I purchase the majority of my supplies at this range. Recently I purchased a gift for my daughter. It had to be ordered. I was on a tight deadline to receive this item. The staff was extremely understanding and want the extra mile to cover me. I recently the item in time for my wife to depart on her travels with the gift in hand. Thanks FFA for help me out. I recommend FFA to anyone interested in the shooting sports. PS. I’ve gone to indoor and outdoor ranges all over and I choose Florida Firearms Academy as my home. Not only is the range high quality, but what really makes this place shine is the staff. Everyone from the owner on down makes you feel welcomed. Even when hosting competitions, everyone is there to genuinely help you get better and be more proficient with your firearms. At least from my experience, I don’t even bother going anywhere else anymore, unless a friend invites me to go check out some event somewhere. Great selection of rentals and the place always has something going on as far as classes and events. I’m a lifetime member for sure.

First of, this is the second review I have ever written in my life, and I truly felt like I need to write this one for Quincy (the man!). I walked into the store with (barely any) gun knowledge. Quincy was the first employee (among many who were in the store) to acknowledge me and invite me over to him. I told him I was looking to purchase a gun for my father (birthday surprise) and shared with him what I was looking for, including the price range I want to stay in. Quincy first sat with me for a bit and dropped some serious gun knowledge on me (types of bullets, guns, license, how to buy, etc)...and then took me over to look at different guns: not once did he try to push a sale on me, or encourage me to look at a more expensive gun. He was incredibly informative, friendly, and humorous... and I could tell he was more concerned with helping me find the right gun, rather than making a sale (and not once gave off that sales-y vibe). I ended up purchasing the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm, leaving the store informed, happy, and very pleased with my choice. This location is a ways away from my house, but I will come back to go shooting with my dad all because of Quincy. He is the best!!

2nd visit today. Attended Basic Pistol training and safety class. Our Instructor Jeff was hands on, very professional and covered the class well. We will definitely return for some range time for sure.

Best range experience Ive ever had. Great staff, all very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and supportive who create a zero pressure environment. No limit on range time, free coffee and chill out area while in between gun rental swaps. Well lite, clean, cold a/c, affordable ammo, private and clean bathrooms, rocking chairs out front next to smoking area with the sound of horses and roosters!

More than half of the 1911 are .22 mill and overall a poor rating for pistols.

The staff here is super friendly but I feel like this place is lacking a little. At first walk in the place looks very nice with great selection and prices the staff were very friendly as well. But that’s about it. When I checked in to go to the range they get non of your info and when I went into the range on the right there were no tables to put my stuff has to set it on the floor the range itself was very dark I couldn’t see what I was hitting. It was overall just a ehh ok experience for me. I wouldn’t say that I’d not come back but it definitely wouldn’t be my first choice. The 2 stars I gave were for the friendly staff and the good selection and prices.

Friendly staff, decent selection of firearms. Not to many bays but it pretty quick to get into shoot. They really set themselves apart by having the best events for an indoor range hands down, and for all ages. Usually always have bounce houses and food along with Gun deals.

Shot there about 5 or 6 times. As an experienced shooter, have shot at many local ranges. The STAFF at FFA is what makes it great. They are friendly, welcoming, and above all, NOT condescending to new shooters (as I have witnessed at other ranges). Also, their gunsmith services are top notch. I highly recommend them!

Giving a 1 for the customer service.The shoot range is nice and very close to our home. I am a new gun owner. My husband and I have been going there for a little while. My husband has been showing me the ins and out on my gun. To be safe and learn. He has had lots of practice with guns. Being a two time combat vet. He knows gun safety,Today was the worst visit and the last visit to Florida Firearms Academy. The employee they have that assigns the shooting area. He was so RUDE. We made it to the range only to turn around get our money back and leave. I dont know the mans name but because of his attitude and getting my face yelling at me. We WILL NEVER GO BACK. Its a shame one bad apple spoils the bunch. The rest of the staff has always been nice and welcoming.

Honest and knowledgeable personnel. They wont try to get over on their clients. The resident gunsmith advised me on how to correct a deadline deficiency on my AR, free of charge. I confidently recommend these guys for shooters of all skill levels.They also rent weapons for use in their indoor range, which makes it ideal for beginners. The range is clean, well lit and well ventilated.

Very safe,relaxed and friendly environment to train in. They have steel targets on select nights. And also hold shooting competitions to expose you to different shooting scenarios to test your skills. Felt at home on the first visit. Love FFA! You no step on snake!

We have a family membership (4 members) at the Florida Firearms Academy. It was great when we became members. I usually go with my husband and when we first became members were able to use two lanes. Each of us own 2 pistols and we like to practice with all of the pistols. It does not take more than an hour to practice. Lately, because is getting a little crowded, we cannot get two lanes. We have to share! And that gets annoying. If I go with my son, then are three sharing a lane. We do not enjoy it anymore. Unconsciously we feel rushed because we know there are people waiting for their turn. For that I would give the Florida Firearms Academy three stars. Not to mention that the senior citizen in charge of the back counter is rude. (Maybe is the nature of the job.) Facilities: Very clean and the people at the front counter are very courteous. Quincy, is great!

Great place for shooting, both for beginners and advanced. They are really serious about firearms education--take a look at the full class schedule. Instructors are excellent. Staff are courteous and helpful, never trying to push merchandise on you, but full of information should you inquire. Use this range quite often and every time I have had a good experience. Everyone I have dealt with has been extremely nice and helpful. Its always very clean. I have seen one person draw from holster when they shouldnt of been and the RO quickly identified and spoke very nicely to the man. Always feel like its safe to shoot their but dont have someone watching over your shoulder either. Great environment.

The START class I just took was great. Everyone who has a conceal carry should take it. Kevin and Joe put a lot into the class. Teaching both gun skills and how to handle knife defense. Thanks to both. See you in the next class.

Went here for my first firearms experience. What a great time. The staff was friendly and made every effort to educate us on how to handle the weapon safely. The place was clean and cool. I have every intention of becoming a member and taking my certification classes here. Highly recommended for beginners and families.

Excellent professional outfit and walked me throw the firearms patiently as a newbie tourist. Charged VERY reasonable rates, unlike many of the ranges that target tourist market. Fired a 9mm, two .45s, a .22 rifle and .44 Magnum (its a classic but blimey what a kick), about 200 rounds in all and cost including gun hire, targets, glasses etc was only $146. Absolute bargain and I had a blast. Pun intended.

Great experience. The staff was friendly, and engaging not like the normal dismissive counter cowboys you find at other ranges in the area. I found everyone I spoke with helpful and interested in the quality of my visit. I highly recommend this establishment. They have earned my return business.

Not as fancy as Shooters World or Reload, but a very functional indoor shooting range. Their prices are much more reasonable. I will likely join them as a member.

Great, clean facility and helpful knowledgeable staff. Hadnt shot in a few years, and they got me set up to try a number of different guns to help me in making my decision on a new gun purchase. I have never seen a multi-gun rental charge, that allowed me to switch out four or five times during my session! No better way to get the feel for a gun than holding it, and more importantly firing it...Became a member of the range and would highly recommend this facility to anyone interested in trying out shooting for the first time, or for veteran shooters looking for clean, air conditioned range to hone their skills.

Very nice staff and very helpful. The range is well manned and operated. Great selection of rental guns and even full auto rifles. range fees are very reasonable.Only gripe I had was the ventilation in the range (east range) was not very good. There is Definitely room for improvement. after spending approx 3 hours in there it was time to go.Hope FFA will do something about the ventilation, and if they do it will be my new go to range.

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean location. The range is suitable for most people and usually kept at a comfortable temperature the times Ive been there. The Ladies Day/Night on Mondays is a plus for my female friends who like to shoot as well.Overall a nice range with nice staff there to help you.

This is a truly outstanding place! The personnel is amazing. My wife and I decided to try a shooting range, and of course we had exactly zero experience. The guys at the store explained everything, showed and told about the guns. We had a great time!

I dont get to FFAs Tampa range as often as Id like, but the range they had in New Port Richey was the best in the area. Theres a bunch of us hoping you reopen again soon. Until then Ill make a trip to your Tampa range when I can. The staff is extremely friendly and they matched any prices I found. Great experience!

I go to your range quite often. But today 8/27/18 I had a dark hair young guy assist me. He assigned me a lane, it was not working. So I stepped over to the next lane. It was not working and I cut my hand on the table, the metal was half way off. He came out to the range with a hell of a attitude and told me I could not do that. I was not aware of this rule but he continued to be rude. I continued to fire my weapon on the new lane and then the target retriever stopped working. I will never come back !!!!!

Great range for kids! I showed up unsure of how the staff would handle my 7 year old daughter. Not only were they helpful and positive towards my daughter. Raymond was so awesome and even helped my daughter insert her inner ear protection. He has helped me on multiple occasions and is the main reason why I will be purchasing a membership. A++++ shop and range and the only place I will go for my ffl needs.

Range equipment is a bit old and not everything functional. Some extra light would be good as well. But overall its a good place to shoot.

My husband and I took the NRA “first steps” class and our teacher was really knowledgeable and we learned so much. I love the range here because it is large, clean, and well-staffed if you need help. I’m new to shooting so having many helpful folks working there is really helpful for me. They have a huge selection of new and used guns and a wide variety of unique items. We will definitely be back to practice and buy our first guns.

I have been to just about every indoor range in Tampa and this place is by far the best. The range is clean and has ice cold air conditioning and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend Florida Firearms Academy for shooters of any skill level.
