This place has an abundance of books to choose from. It is literally wall to wall, floor to ceiling, of books. Semi organized and clean. He carries some of the more rare, antique/vintage books as well. Which makes this place stand out, to me. The person working seemed to know some of his customers on a more personal level, which was pretty cool. I will definitely be visiting again.
If you are in the area, stopping by this hidden gem is a must! They have a huge variety of books, comics, vinyls, posters, and collectibles. The fact that it’s underground is so much cooler!
This was my first visit there. I wanted to check it for quite a while, and must say that I was fascinated by the variety of books! It is a very interesting place, and we were made very welcome!
Jimmy is always very knowledgeable and helpful.
Cool stuff and I got a fair trade!
I had really wanted the book about tarot reading with tarot cards that was on the shelf he asked if I wanted him to hold the books at the register I said yes. so I pay for my books and got home and theres not a tarot card book in my bag I called and he said it was not for sale I would have been less upset if I was told at the register but nothing said that was the main book I wanted and I do normally love this place but it really did upset me
This place is a hidden gem! Its so much more than just a used book store. I would recommend anyone in or around Temple should check this place out.
I dropped by The Book Cellar recently for the first time. This shop is located in an actual cellar in downtown Temple. The shops vibe and underground location reminds me of places I have visited in New York City and Chicago. There was a wide variety of books, vinyl, comics and memorabilia. The employee was very friendly and offered help. Ill surely be back again soon.
Lots of books, movies, Cds and collectables. Very noligable staff.
As a Individual who loves history and has a B.A. In history, It is a good ( Find )!
Love this place. The environment is awesome and the selection and prices are even better.
Get lost in the story
You go downstairs into a cellar filled with used books. The staff is a little zany but friendly. They have a nice variety of autographed pictures, cards, etc and lots of well organized books. We have been able to find used books here we couldnt find elsewhere. Good lighting, nice, used book smell. Its worth a visit.
Ive always loved going to the book cellar, I love to read and believe me they have a huge variety and they sell comic books as well. So, if ever theres a certain book your looking for and cant find, check then out, ya never know they just may have it. Because there used books there way lower prices. The staff is always friendly and helpful as well.
Sadly after the orginal owner of this comic book an used book store had to sell it appears a person from dixieland idealism bought it. right as you enter theres a southern flag on display for sell along with many a odd item but the flags aimed at the front door. thankfully nice gentleman inside is selling older comics somewhat well kept at $1.86 so worth the raid of a comic collection
Always very friendly and helpful! I love second hand book stores and this one is a gem for sure!
This is one of the coolest bookstores Ive visited. 1/2 of the charm is the location. Its a veritable cave of books. The selection is also top notch and worth spending time and money.
Best bookstore ever! I spent a large portion of my youth in this fine establishment and I have missed going there for the last 20Years since I moved away. No bookstore ever quite measures up to the mystique of this place. Seriously, GO! Read!
Nice place, friendly folks willing to help you find stuff and familiar with their inventory. Good prices.
Awesome selection of used books, comics, graphic novels and comic memorabilia! It has a chill atmosphere, a person can easily spend a big chunk of time just looking through all their cool stuff! The employees are very helpful and will also give recommendations if you talk about the authors and genres you enjoy.
The used book store is actually located in a cellar. The Book Cellar located in downtown Temple. Access is down a flight of stairs. Easy to miss so look sharp. Many books stacked high. If you like used books this place is for you!
I went there for the first time today. My sister said something about being able to sell books and stuff. We went there for free comic book day. Apparently they dont buy stuff on days that are giving free stuff out and only buy things from people if they need it. We got our free comic books, but one of 4 workers there was a little rude in his voice. he sounded like he was upset or didnt want to be there.I suggest going down there at your own risk. Going downstairs to a shop is pretty shady to say the least. They do have some good books though. They also sell old coins and paper money. They seem to only like to talk to older parents. not to the youngsters.
Nice selection of books. Needs a bit of organizing but not impossible to find what you want. The employees were nice to my husband, children and myself. They were telling us how theyre cleaning up the place for future d&d games in the back. The area is small, cramped, but filled with everything you could ever want.
Love the feel of this place! They had exactly what we were looking for. It was a comfortable laid back environment and felt free to roam the store as long as I wanted. Great selection!!!
Lots of history there 175 years of it cant wait to hear some stories about it.
Workers didnt say anything to me, part of the store was really dark, and considering how bad the man at the counter was complaining to another customer that they needed to pay rent you would think they would lower their book prices. I was so excited about this place too 😔
Great little shop, found some manga for my daughter and some dragonlance for me. Definitely going back.
Well organized, huge selection of popular books in all categories. Tons of comics and collectables. Cool place.
Little hidden gem if you enjoy a good book the books are reasonably priced and you can always return them when you arr done for store credit.
Sold some books and I got a decent amount of money for them. They have a good selection. They even sell comics and manga.
Love this book store. I always find books that I like here!
The store has many items you cant find anywhere else in temple including coins, autographs scifi memorabilia, wiccan items, Christian items, comics and yes Confederate items and to the gentleman who complained about them you need to actually pick up a book and read it. Those same items were carried at walmart till a year ago before they gave into pressure from other people who had no idea there meaning. They stand for heritage to a lot of people and they deserve a place to buy them just as much as people deserve a place to buy Christian books and wiccan items. The particular flags are simply battle flags and never had a slave bought or sold under them. All the slaves in the u.s were bought under the u.s flag and were sold into slavery by other tribes and black muslims who raided their villages because they were not Muslim. A study from ohio university shows that almost a million Europeans were sold into slavery in the middle east by the same people. So sir quit being the problem with america by trying to find racism under every rock where it doesnt exist and maybe pick up a book while you are there and learn a little before you make such damning accusations
My son seemed to love this place lol hes 8 yrs old. Seems okay. I feel the price are a little much on some things. I know not many people listen to CDS much but if ya do $2.00. Got a couple. Couldnt resist. Wide variety of books, just seems like its not in any certain order lol none. But there in good condition.
Great used book store, in the old school sort of way. Packed with all sorts of books, comics, DVDs, etc.
Well hidden but they shop keepers help you find the books you are looking for and very friendly
Great place to find unique books. They also carry some collectible items as well.
