Clean, the butcher is amazing. They have great meat selection... much better than the Dumont store location

PROS: This is my go-to supermarket. Theyre very clean and their selection is large for a store that size. They have tons of parking and theyre located near the center of town.CONS: The parking lot is difficult to navigate around and some of the staff there has an attitude anytime I ask for helpOVERALL: I like coming here, I strongly suggest coming here to do either grab something to your convenience or to go grocery shopping on a regular basis. Just refrain from asking for help

The always busy grocery store, one of the few grocery stores that has character, like the old places! And the prices are also Fantastic! Also, since it is elegant, I like the style of the cart. And one more thing, the item is fine, like the big box stores, it doesnt taste like cardboard. This is a place you should visit because they have everything you need!

Its now been almost two weeks and my very disturbing experience at this store is still with me. I recently entered the store on a sunday after parking my car. I crossed from the entrance on the left to the far right of the store to get a cart. At that entrance theres an employee on the phone and a clear curfuffle over a dog tied to the outdoor cart area. Ppl are screaming that the dog is abused. I looked outside and thought wait...I just saw that dog and owner as I was parking to enter the store. It hasnt been 5 minutes!!! I approached the staff member at the center of it all stating, wouldnt it be easier to get on the intercom instead of calling the police? She was ADAMANT stating no, ive called and my manager told me to call the police! I said but I just saw them. At that I turned to walk down ONE AISLE, found the woman I saw with the dog and alerted her that the police were being called about her dog. While she was already headed to the register with her 2 items she put them down and raced out. I joined her as her witness that she had just entered the store. Thankfully i wasnt needed as the officer, while rubbing the beautiful pooch, immediately said...theres nothing wrong with dog. Not thirsty, not hot. Happy and healthy. So heres where it gets WEIRD. The young lady who is now crying, shares that her name is Valerie and that she used to work there. She felt it was PERSONAL and that they knew it was her dog and saw her walk in. I thought she was mistaken and emotional. That was until I WITNESSED THE STAFF staring and snickering at her expense. The cop noticed it too and said, im going to leave...I think im making it worse.I re-entered the store convinced it was just a case of failure to problem solve by an employee. Hoping to bring clarity, I approached one of the staff alerting her that the dog was fine but the lady was surprised by the escalation. The employee stated, SHES NOT A GOOD PERSON, I WOULD HAVE CALLED TOO.!! HUH?!?! I thought you called based on concern for the dog!!! Nope...they called with very different intentions. our police are NOT for this kind of petty personal vendettas!! That young woman was no longer their colleague but their CUSTOMER!!! This was bullying dressed up as concern.. It was shocking, sickening and I will be reporting it to their regional office. Shame on the whole lot of them. Someone should look into the young womans (Valerie) time there. Its a culture of bullies. This incident involved the two heavy set white women and the young woman who made the comment. The manager should be reviewed as well.

I appreciate a store that is calm and safe and u feel secure. Nothing worst than going to an overcrowded store and the patron customers do not follow directions and complain about not taking products back. This is the Covid age and must be handled differently to protect lives.

Not crowded, well stocked, clean and very helpful/friendly staff.

They have a good variety of gluten free bread in the freezer section and the specialty section as well.

I go here all the time and its just a grocery store. Its not worthy of a review system unless something horrible happens here with the staff, which never happens.

Easy parking. Courteous employees. Clean store. Prices are a bit higher than Shop Rite Englewood, but the convenience, ease, and feeling of safety is worth the drive and additional cost.

Always a great place to shop for your groceries. Produce is always fresh, they have a good deli section. A bakery, a full supermarket. And a friendly staff who help maintain social distancing.

Dont believe the wait times posted. Aisle direction posted but no one from the store is managing customers not adhering. Saw several employees not wearing masks. Several aisles blocked along with one set of exit/entry doors. If ever there was a fire not a place to be. Also a good place to spread Covid. 5-25-20

Best supermarket in tenafly

Showed up this morning with my reciept to exchange a pie crust. Not satisfied that they would not take a return or exchange because of covid. Doesnt make sense. Majority of the items on the shelves have been touched more than once, so does it mean that all those items should be taken off the shelves also? (Cashier was also suprised they did not accept exchanges or returns)

Please, I understand u have implemented and put up signs but people are not following it especially the so called teens in the community. Hoping u find ways to strictly implement ur rules during this time of pandemic, and appreciate for taking actions to make the community safe. Just sad, people can’t follow even a simple f instructions. Follow the arrows people and keep distance.

Store staff extremely helpful and very conscious of safety issues relating to Covid. Store is very clean and is my only food purchae venue.

A Million Times Better Than Dumonts Stop And ShopTenafly Stop And Shop has arrows, for the most part people following the arrows and staff throughout the store.The other Shoppers and Staff are respectful which I cant say the same for at Dumonts Stop And Shop. Tenaflys Stop And Shop is a Great place to Shop.I highly recommend going to Tenaflys Stop And Shop!

I left Tenafly about 1 year ago but I still miss this place. There are good displays of products, and there are many products that you can buy cheaply if you use membership cards and coupons that are issued frequently. Those under 10 can eat bananas or tangerines for free. I think its a very humane customer service. But bakery is a bit disappointing. The unmanned calculator is very convenient and the staffs are very kind. I always remember the sound I heard when I get in there. If you have a stop and shop card, please scan it now. I wish the happiness for all of the staffs.

Average Stop and Shop, yet, they had very little plain seltzer. A problem, because I went there to buy a lot.

We visit Stop & Shop periodically. They have your typical selection of groceries. The quality is above average, the prices are slightly higher too. The store is clean, although outdated. The staff is friendly and know where to guide you when looking for assistance. Check the weekly sales for the best deals.Suggestions for improvement would be to modernize the store with a deli / hot food / bakery section with sit down area for lunches and dinners.Add a pharmacy pickup.Add more checkout lines.If owned by Stop & Shop redo the parking to parallels and remove the diagonal spots.

My visit was good. Everything was clean and stocked (from the things I was getting). The bathroom was clean. The cashier was great.

Be careful where you park, or carts will hit your car. S&S doesnt corral carts well and they wont pay for damages even when they are responsible. Should have gotten a lawyer, but not worth my time investment.

Very good selection

This location is amazing! The ladies in customer service were SO helpful, as well as the young gentleman at the self checkout. I had purchased a large cooler and three bags of ice (among other items) and walked from the next block over. When i began to walk out it started to downpour and Manger Peter offered to help me to my car. When I told him I was walking her generously offered to drive me to my destination. Thanks so much Peter and the staff at Stop and Shop!!

Fruit is extremely expensive for the portion sizes. You can get double the amount at Gourmet Farms for much cheaper across the street. Also, there is a short grey haired lady always near checkout whos always skowling at me every time Im there. Doesnt sems to happy to be there, and unfriendly. I can feel the negative energy radiating off her.

The prices are amazing and I always get snacks here and like ugh so good and there are always balloons considering the event/time period and its so good to walk in during the summer or winter cause air conditioner and heating are amaze but one drawback: not a lot of selections for example the chips are all large sized so if you want to eat alone its too much and theres not a lot of selections in the candy isle or ice cream either or granola bars.

Dont get me wrong this place is great for when you need to grab some last minute items, but its not as big as the one in Closter which I LOVE. Its got enough of what you might need on a day to day basis, but I wouldnt do my monthly shopping here. Not enough of a selection.

The food z fresh. Sales were good The dairy department z fully stocked but most of all Helen went out of her head way to help others & me!! The cashier Susan/Shirley was so pleasant and made me smile I cant wait to go there again. Oh and the young man in produce helped me, too!!!! When I go back ill take some pics!!

After the renovation it looks nice but theres a much more variety of food and you almost never gonna find what you were looking for

Very dirty and lots of items are out of stock. Employees dont really care about customer service or even know what that is.Stores like this should close to have more room for great stores that are managed well. Very disapointing visit...

The world is filled with mediocre people as the two men at the deli case were today. I simply asked for a sandwich to be made, which never represents a problem until now. One man looked at the other and asked Do we have bread? The other replied No. The first man then turned and restated (like I couldnt hear) there is no bread. Too lazy to get a loaf from the bread isle to sell their product.

A quick stop to pick up a few things.The store is well organized.

Considering the fact that its in the middle of a strip mall, its smaller than most Stop & Shops. The only positive about this is that fact that due to its size, it is pretty easy to navigate.

Brand new just remodeled the store, food is very fresh, lots of food to choose from. They also have a huge Gluten Free section.

This is the first time I went to this store is ok and clean but they have only one register open and it has a line they need to have at list 2 open register

Each time I shopped there I regretted not going elsewhere. The other negative reviews are accurate and most of all, their customer service is absolutely horrible. SHOP ELSEWHERE. Dont stop and dont shop there!

This is our go to store, and I am here about twice a week. Its a good store and the recent renovations improved the shopping experience and it feels more in tune now with the town in which it is located. That said, it is a small store, and does not have as big a selection as, say, the the Stop and Shop in Dumont which I go to from time to time since it has longer hours. The cashiers are all nice and the store his a good vibe. Down sides? The bags of salad that I buy are often wilted and even though not past their due date, they seem to be overall, the produce department is not so great, and they often run out of basic stuff, like Brussel sprouts or mushrooms. I wish the organic health food section were bigger, and I wish they would stop overcharging for those things - that is over. . Whole Foods has lowered their prices. Example? The organic pop tarts are $4.19. At Trader Joes they are $2.99. No reason for that. I guess thats always the litmus test for me, being big TJ fans. If there were a TJ nearby, I would probably only go to stop and shop for the nitrite free turkey bacon, which is a great product and is amazingly $2.99 a package there. A great product at a great price. I am also confused that they have cut down on brands of OJ (I used to be able to get a half gallon of premium OJ for $2.50 - I forget the brand) and now the selection is small. You cant get Orange/Peach/Mango or even just Pineapple juice in the refrigerated section which is weird - every other store still has it. Anyway, for a small local supermarket, this is a pretty good one, and I will still choose it always over the Kings in Cresskill which has old Whole Foods prices without the Whole Foods experience. I also wish they would get rid of the lines - thats not a viable business model anymore.

Tenafly location is disappointing for a few reasons. If I could give zero Stars I would. I really dont want to go back there. Ive been there a few times specifically looking to buy a meat item advertise in the flyer on sale. (I plan my family meals around this sale item.) The last three times they were sold out of that meat item. Im starting to feel like its a bait and switch!!! The Stop & Shop in Dumont is 10 times better than this Tenafly locationAnother reason Im disappointed with Tenafly Stop & Shop is becauae the produce is not fresh.... wilted & squishy vegetables, heads of lettuce that are rotten after 3 days in my refrigerator.Furthermore they have a self-checkout handheld scanning situation by the front door which does not work. Youre supposed to be able to use the handheld device to scan your stuff and go. Dont bother, its a waste of time.

Pretty expensive store that has horrible service. The cashiers are rude and immature. There is nobody working in the aisles to help you out. The fish counter smells rancid. They renovated the store a year ago or so, but they haven’t changed the fundamental problems here. There is usually one cashier working, maybe two. They try to force you to use the self-checkout which never works properly. I don’t go here unless I am in the area.

Mini version of Stop & Shop. They have most of the same variety of items as a standard size Stop & Shop, EXCEPT when they dont. Frustrating. The remodel they did over a year ago was a big deal. The old market was blech.
